What is DoLeague doing about the GDPR?

Because DoLeague was based in the UK, and before this in Spain, we have been compliance with all the rules before GDPR.
Even with that, we wanted to take a step back and we have audit our whole organization to ensure that we do not have any issues on the process.

This audit includes:

• Review all the data we are processing and make sure that we have the legal base to handle it.
• Review all the process to make sure we do not get more data that we need, and that we keep the process secure.
• Make sure that the users are informed of everything that happens at DoLeague.

We have been always consider that privacy is key for any relationship between users and apps. It is an important thing for us and we are using this opportunity to improve on this aspect.

What is DoLeague doing to be GDPR Compliant?

We are not just doing this because we need to be compliant, we are using this opportunity to review all our system and make sure that Privacy by Design is incorporated into our core, not only because we need to, but because we want to.

So we are not going to stop on the limits of the law, we want to make sure that even if we could keep some data, if we are not going to use it, we won´t collect it on the first place.

With this in mind, these are the changes we are doing (and their status as 25th of May):

• Audit all our processes and data to understand the data flow (Done).
• Find out where we are failing on terms of data, process, security or information (Done).
• Make sure we are covering all the data subject rights so everyone can enforce them anytime. (Done)
• Check all the third party we use and make sure that all of them comply with GDPR. If they do not, find another partner that does. (Under Process).
• Develop a plan to fix anything that needs to be fixed. (Done)

With that plan in mind, we are working on these areas:

• Ask all our users to update their consent for their email updates notification. (Done).
• Make sure we include an optin option for the newsletter when you sign to doleague.com. Meanwhile, we are not sending any new emails to anyone that has not opted in. (Under Process).
• Modify the way the organisers add people data to their tournaments. They need to make sure they comply with GDPR and we will use a double optin to make sure that they want to join DoLeague. (Under Process).
• Creating a new email and platform to manage all the privacy requests in time. (Under Process).
• Removing all extra data that we collect and do not use so we minimize the risk. (Under Process).
• Changing the way we activate the accounts to they are more secure. (Under Process).
• Full encode some data that we need to keep for legal reasons so they do not increase the risk for our users. (Under Process)
• Make sure we incorporate the Privacy by Design on our future developments. (Under Process)
• Inform our users of the process, with this post, and updating (and simplifying) the Privacy Policy and the terms and conditions. (Under Process)
• Create new internal documents that explain how we handle any privacy request. (Under Process)
• Create a new security document with all the changes. (Under Process)

What do you need to do as an user of DoLeague?

You do not need to do anything, but there are things you could do:

• You should have received an email about the email notifications about updates. You can confirm if you want to keep receiving those emails or not.
• You can review your notifications from your accounts settings within the app.
• If you want your data removed you just need to go into your account settings and delete your account.
• You can always contact us at help.doleague.com for anything you need related to doleague.com

We know we are a little late on some areas, but we are doing our best with the resources we have. Please contact us if you have any question related to this process or your data.

If you organize leagues and tournaments

These are the new features that you can enjoy from this week if you’re a championships organizer:

• Topscorers. Finally you count with a list of individual statistics for a championship. You may access to the list of top players in each of the six statistics that are shown in the record of your games from the league ranking page . Find out who is the top scorer of the competition or who has received more expulsions, or if your thing is LoL, who has more kills in games played.
• Sanctions and bonuses in leagues and ranking. Now the organizer can sanction the teams in a league with points (eg for not showing up to a game) or bonuses (eg for playing every game of a ranking). You can find it in a new admin tab called “Manage”.

• Reset results. Something that many of you had requested and finally is available. We all can make mistakes and now this is no longer a problem. The championship organizer can reset any result confirmed with just click. Watch out, if there is a round playoff with consolation tournament, this will affect the crossings but as always, the system takes care of everything for you.
• Simple results: many times we only want to organize a tournament without sets, and where the only important thing is who wins, not the number of games or the difference in the victory (yes, I’m looking at you, League of Legends). From this version on, you can set your championship with the simple results system. In these types of tournaments the results are simplified and you only have to point out who wins the game (or match) regardless of the outcome.
• Confirm all the results with a single click. When you manage an online tournament with hundreds of participants, it is quite common for organizers to meet more than 50 results to be confirmed within minutes, because participants are waiting for the second round of the tournament. With this new option, the administrator can confirm all pending results from its control panel in less than a minute. We know that many championships will appreciate this feature.
• Undo the end of a championship. It doesn’t happen every day, but we know that it may have happened to you. You have finished a championship by mistake and you need to unlock it. No problem, you can go back. This option is available on the admin panel of the finished championship.

New for all users

In addition to improving the organizers backoffice, we want all users to be more comfortable using DoLeague. These are the new options in the user control panel:

• Notifications. We’ve added more options so you can control the type of messages you want to receive. You know that we are not annoying, but as we hate spam, we wanted to give you more choices. Now you can choose whether you want to receive notifications among four different types (you can change the settings in your account at doleague.com):
  • Messages with news – and offers –  from DoLeague.
  • Messages and offers for championships organizers. If you’re a player and not an organizer you may not want to receive these emails.
  • Messages related to Pro and Premium accounts. Only available for the Pro and Premium users.
  • Notifications of games and championships in which you are involved.

• Deleting account. We have added the possibility that any user can delete its account and personal data from DoLeague championships. We do not want to tie up anyone here, and although we’ll be very sad, we believe it should be just as easy to sign up as to cancel your account from the platform. From now on, any user can deleted its data without having to contact us. Remember, that this action will erase all your history, championships, games and your email from the database and you wont be able to login again without DoLeague signing up with a new account.

Reminder: if you stop using Doleague for a while, we recommend you to disable notifications and leave the account active. No messages will be received and you’ll be able to login at DoLeague whenever you want without losing your history.

A complete leagues and tournaments manager

With this update you can organize a league or a full football championship – or any sport you may think of – with all the basic features. We believe that saving management time and costs as well as providing benefits to participants make of DoLeague  a complete solution for any club that need to organize a tournament.

More than that, the simple result features and the ability to reset and confirm all the results with a single click, increases the capacity to manage massive online tournaments with hundreds of games played within very little time.

We have created a page with a more practical design where you can see more clearly the match information. More detailed information on the results, fouls, cards, etc, depending on the type of sport. And you have funny and custom icons in each of the tournaments you organize with DoLeague.

Now, we will show you step by step all the advantages that the 2.7.1 update has brought to DoLeague.

As you can see, the improvement in the clarity of information about the match results shown immediately. Its new design in size and arrangement, makes we can find all very quickly. Scoreboard, court, category, etc, are more visible and I am sure you have noticed that the design is less boring than the last.

New section: “Report”

The old page of results ended with the section “Leave your comment”. Now, there are the section “Report” where you can write down all the match details: goals, fouls, cards, time outs, and even the name of the referee, etc.

The design of this new section is clear and functional too. Recognizable symbols, such as cards or goals, are incorporated into this new section and we get that your matches reports be more personalized leaving your choice to put the icon of each team next to your information.

To these improvements is added two advantages:
You can print directly each report for have a hard copy and also will be saved for future reference. Great, right ?.

Today you can see the new match reports of all your tournaments in DoLeague. Not expect more to customize them!

The advantages is new functionalities in the website to enrich and improve your experience as players and making your participation be practical and simple in the tournaments of DoLeague.

For example, you can save time with the new links:

1. In the “tournament brackets”: new link to the match page.
2. In the tournament calendar: a new button to quickly upload the results of every match.

You have better information from rival teams, because in the list of matches from your personal account appear the rival teams names and a link to the corresponding calendar; and also better information about the results, because you will know if they have been confirmed by the administrator or not.

You can choose organize a League of Legends league. Following the increase in this kind of organized leagues with us, we created this option as a new online sport to manage with DoLeague.

Also, no impediment to the players can join to several categories in the same tournament. But you have to consider if the schedules and your physical form will allow to do it

All of these improvements, though small, are added to a long list of advantages that the manager DoLeague offers participants of the tournament organized with us. If you’re not still enjoying them, awake and come into the DoLeague community only practicing your favorite sport!

In this new version, the managers have much more freedom in the choices they make when they organize a tournament. Now, they can finish them at any time even when they have still not all results, and reset them even when have started.

If the organizer wants, players will change category in the same championship. You just have to go to edit the features of a participant and choice the category you want from the drop. With the registration open, the administrator can edit, add or delete categories.

Another advantage for the organizers is they can change tournament key features and adapt them to the needs of the players. As happens in choosing schedules and the date. Now the choice of fixed or free schedules can change as long as the tournament registration is open. Also, dates can change at any time.

If you are organizer all of these news help you to create tournaments with more independence and take the decisions more suited to your needs and to the participants requirements.

1. Features who help the organizer.

• The administrator can end a tournament before you have all the results.
• The tournaments can be reset to the status just before started, but can not be undone.
• In the tournament information there is a new optional field to fill the street address of the tournament.
• The tournament dates are changeable at any time, because there are always unexpected events.
• There is a new “Join” button on the tournament information, more visible.
• Administrators can move participants from one category to another in the same tournament without generate a notification to the players.
• Also they can add, edit and remove categories anytime just before the start of the tournament and when registration is open.
• You can change from fixed to open schedules until close registration. No need to make hasty decisions.

2. Features designed for participants.

• Players can join to several categories in the same tournament.
• There is a new online sport , League of Legends, where the participant register with his account ID.
• For online registration, the system only required one captain email for each team. No more fake emails!
• On the matches list appear the names of the opposing teams, and clicking on the tournament name leads directly to the appropriate calendar.
• There is a new link to the match on the “tournament brackets”.
• Improved information on the income statement to the participants: awaiting confirmation, confirmed, etc.
• Were added login buttons to calendar to make it easier to find the links to upload results.
• Colors and the result were added to the tournament matches list played and finished.

3. Additional Premium service.

Those users with premium accounts also enjoy:

• Create a final phase knockout from any other tournament with one click and import the teams into it.
• Have, if they wish, a custom short urls for the tournaments.
• You can start a new season for a tournament before it ends, and you can start adding (import) new teams immediately.
• From this version can use animated GIFs as images of sponsors. The limitation of two parent companies and images too small is over.

Besides all these advantages, the 2.6 update of DoLeague also brings you other details equally important for organize your tournaments:

• When filling a result of a match and returning to the calendar, will remember the round, category and division in the I was.
• “Publish” action is now called “Open Registration”, this does not change anything but yes helps new users.
• On the start page of the tournament the administrator can decide to send notifications to the teams or not.
• Updated “Open registration” page, applying the changes of the latest versions.
• Administrator can modify playoff rules and score tournament at anytime.
• Now is possible to edit team names for tournaments at anytime even if the championship has started.

As you see, many little things that add flexibility to the management of a tournament. Although we told you that we will explain in more detail each of these developments in next blog articles, as always, you will not have to do anything to apply these advantages to your championships, only enter into the web and start to enjoy automatically.

Premium Service

Those who want to be subscribed to DoLeague premium services will be able to do it, really soon, directly without having to send a request for it. Invitations

Tournament and championship invitation system has improved. Now, once you receive an invitation you can reply directly to the sender. This feedback will streamline the organization of the championship and we are sure that it will encourage you to a higher level of participation.

Notifications

Automatic notifications texts and subjects has been improved. This qualitative increase in communications will make players be better informed on schedules, standings, teams, etc. No excuse to miss a tournament game!

Other improvements

Update 2.4.2 has improved our web security, to let you keep managing safe your championships. We have also fixed Internet Explorer minor bugs.

New Login Page

Some users told us that login on the create match page is good the first time you visit doleague, but after that, you want to login as fast as you can to check your match list. Also the lightbox login is pretty, but it doesn´t work so well with the password managers. Because of all this, and because we agree with you, we have deployed a beautiful login page:

Of course you can access that page from the top menu all around the website so check it right now.

I want also to remember you that is still possible to login from the match page or when you organize your own match. And the same for joining, you just join a match or create a new one and you will be automatically part of the Do League family.

New footer and background

We have modified the background on the app and the footer. We have used the great images created by Ana Cubas, we loved them. And stay tuned because more great drawings are coming soon.

We have  also made some minor changes like the language flags, and other, everything to make sure the app is working fine.

Now, when you log in into the app and do not log out, the browser will remember you next time you open the app. We use cookies stored on your computer to do it, but we have tried to keep the system secure. So this is what we did:

• Anytime you log out the cookies will be deleted so next time you will need to use the password again.
• You can choose not to use them, just unchecked the box and DoLeague will not remember you next time.
• We do not store passwords on the cookies. We only store a personal token non related to the user password.
• When a user change or reset his password all the actual cookies will be disabled. The user will need to log in again to generate a new valid cookie.
• When you select the language using the top menu on the app, a cookie will remember your choice next time you open the app.
