Scheduled CTS Web Services Downtime

Maintenance will be taking place between 17.00 on Saturday 27th February and 05.00 Sunday 28th February which will mean the CTS Web Services are unavailable for periods of time between the specified hours.

NOTE: dolitl is providing this information as a service to customers. We do not maintain or operate any of the BCMS CTS services.

The support.dolitl.com website is currently unavailable. We understand from Zendesk that this is due to their main database server suffering from a file system corruption.

Update @ 13:15: This issue has now been resolved but the site may be slow whilst the backlog of requests is cleared.

Update @ 20:30: Email backlog has been cleared.

ViaPost Scheduled Maintenance (Completed)

We’re currently experiencing an issue with some of the sites we host in the MAI data centre. We’re awaiting more information from the data centre and will post an update as soon as possible.

Update @ 17:38: Sites are now back online. The outage was caused by a hardware failure.

We’re currently experiencing an issue with some of the sites we host in the IoM data centre. We’re awaiting more information from the data centre and will post an update as soon as possible.

This is also affecting the softfooding.com and dolitl.com websites.

Update @ 11:37: The data centre has reported a network failure caused the outage.

Scheduled DNS Maintenance (Completed)

On 12 December at 5AM our DNS provider will begin performing some scheduled maintenance for upto 6 hours. The DNS service should not be affected but we will be unable to make changes to DNS during this maintenance window.

dolitl Service Desk Maintenance (Completed)

We have been informed by our supplier that on 14th November at 1PM the dolitl Service Desk - http://support.dolitl.com/ will be unavailable due to migration of the site to new equipment.

The maintenance window should last approximately 1 hour. During this time, support requests can still be emailed in the usual way.

Clustered E-mail Updates (Completed)

At around 6.45AM on Friday 9th October we will be carrying out some upgrades to our clustered e-mail infrastructure. This will mean that for approximately 10 minutes you will be unable to collect your e-mail with POP, IMAP or Webmail.

We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause. The upgrades will bring increased reliability and performance to the service.

MAI Scheduled Maintenance (Completed)

We have just been informed that some scheduled maintenance will be taking place at approximately 10PM tonight in the MAI datacentre. There should be no disruption to service.

DNS Service At Risk (Resolved)

There has been a fire in a Seattle datacentre which houses some of the servers of the DNS provider we use.

There is currently a limited impact to SoftFooding and it’s customers. Some redirects may not work and we are currently unable to action any DNS change requests. All other DNS services should be running OK but due to the nature of the issue the DNS service is currently “at risk”.

NOTE: All customer websites are hosted at datacentres in the UK.

Update @ 19:05: The DNS provider is currently restoring the lost servers to an alternative datacentre in Atlanta. This should allow DNS changes to be actioned and redirects to be handled.

We’re currently experiencing an issue with some of the sites we host in the MAI data centre. We’re awaiting more information from the data centre and will post an update as soon as possible.

Sites will be returning:

503 Service Unavailable
No server is available to handle this request.

Update @ 13:00: The storage cluster which holds all website files is currently experiencing issues which is causing this message to be displayed by the webservers.

Datacentre technicians are working on this now. Further updates will be posted as we receive them.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this outage has caused.

Update @ 15:23: Some sites should now be available, although running slow. Sites will be in a read-only state as the backup storage is being used. This is to ensure there aren’t any concurrency issues when changing back to the primary storage.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for this outage.

Update @ 17:35: At approximately 4PM sites started being served from the primary storage cluster once again. Various components were replaced and additional memory added to hopefully prevent a recurrence.

MAI Hosting Outage (Resolved)

At approximately 15:06 our hosting provider in Maidenhead (MAI) experienced an issue with the primary storage device for the hosting service causing it to be taken offline for approximately 9 minutes.

Unfortunately the failure of the storage system had various knock-on effects on other systems which meant sites were slow or access was intermittent for the following 40 minutes.

Service is now restored and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

DNS Outage (Resolved)

At approximately 22:30 all five of our globally distributed DNS servers came under a distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack. During this time websites that use our DNS servers will appear to be unavailable or access to them will be sporadic. Customers using their own DNS service are not affected by this incident.

We apologise for any inconvenience this incident causes.

Update @ 23:45: All sites should now be available again. The attack lasted approximately one hour and there continue to be intermittent problems. Our supplier of DNS services is investigating ways to mitigate future attacks, which are an unfortunate issue from time-to-time.

Scheduled CTS Web Services Downtime

There is downtime planned for this Saturday 25/04/09 between 11am and 5pm. Users will experience 3 hours disruption within this time but I’m afraid we can’t be more specific about the time slot.

Any submissions sent during the 3 hour time slot will fail and users will receive an error message explaining that.

Unscheduled CTS Web Service Downtime

Sincere apologies for this late notice but we have just received a request for downtime on the whole of the CTS suite, including web services, for 4am tomorrow until 17:00 tomorrow. There appears to be issues with the memory on the platform we are using that needs to be upgraded urgently. We did consider rescheduling but don’t want to put our systems at any unnecessary risk. I appreciate that this causes you all problems and for that I apologise again. CTS Online will be available for the duration and CTS Web services will be available again from 17:00 tomorrow.
