It is hands on, creative, budget friendly, and your guests leave with something delicious that they made themselves.

If you love a themed get together, this one is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. They are easy to prep, surprisingly low mess, and feel like an activity and a gift all in one. Guests chat, sip bubbly, make something adorable, and go home feeling spoiled.

This party is one of those events that feels magical without being a lot of work. It smells amazing, looks gorgeous, and gives everyone a chance to get creative. Whether it is a Friendsgiving warm up, a mom's brunch, or a Galentine’s gathering, a mini apple pie making party is the sweetest memory making idea.

I reccomend a small group for this party, if you're going to prep the ingredients, that way you're not peeling for hours. I prepped the apples about an hour before the party, and did the apple pie filling cups the night before.

For the pie dough, I 10/10 recommend using refrigerated pie dough. It comes 2 to a box, so I gave everyone 1, and then had a few extra in case anyone needed extra for their pie crust decoration.

For the pie crust decorating, I just laid out a variety of tools. Rolling pins, pastry cutters, and mini cookie cutters, so everyone can get creative.

They take about 55 minutes to bake, so I had everyone get started once they all arrived. Once the pies are in the oven be sure to set your timer! Then everyone can mingle and eat.

How To Run the Party Step by Step

Set up each place setting with a tray. Have pie dough decorating tools on the side.
Welcome everyone with a drink and let them choose their seat. Get started as soon as everyone arrives because bake time is not short.
Show the instruction card and how to use the lattice card or cookie cutters for creative designs. Make sure everyone writes their name on their pie tin.
Pass around egg wash for those finished.
Bake pies all together on baking sheets (it takes 55 mins). Cover each with foil for the first 25 minutes. SET YOUR TIMER! Continue baking. Enjoy snacks or lunch.
Once cooled, box up pies using the bakery boxes, twine, tag, and rosemary or cinnamon stick.
Let guests take photos with their creations and get a group pic.

The Mini Apple Pie Recipe (if you want to recreate it)

This is the exact recipe we used for every guest. Simple, delicious, classic.

1 granny smith apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced

1 honey crisp apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced

Mix with:

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon flour

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Line a 6x1 inch mini pie tin with refrigerated pie dough. Trim extra dough and fill the tin with all of your apple mixture (it will be a dome, but will bake down in the oven and shrink once cooled). Add your top crust, making sure to leave space for steam to vent. Brush with beaten egg.

Cover the top with foil and bake at 400 degrees F for 25 minutes. Remove foil, reduce oven to 375 degrees F, and bake another 30 minutes until golden. Let cool so the filling thickens. Enjoy!

If you’re a parent, you know how tricky it can be to find dessert recipes that are both delicious and made with wholesome ingredients. These all-natural strawberry cupcakes are my absolute favorite. They are naturally pink, bursting with real strawberry flavor, and topped with creamy strawberry cream cheese frosting. Best of all, no artificial colors or preservatives are needed, so you can feel good serving them to your kids.

My Secret Ingredient

To create an all-natural strawberry flavor and a pretty pink pop of color, I add my secret ingredient, a bag of freeze-dried strawberries that I crush into a powder. This works in both the frosting and cupcakes.

Using freeze-dried strawberries gives a powerful punch of strawberry flavor without getting a soggy cupcake, which can happen if you use fresh strawberries that hold a lot of extra liquid.

I found mine at my local grocery store by the raisins and dried fruit, but you can also get these online too.

Strawberry Cupcakes Recipe

Yield: 12 cupcakes

Ingredients

Strawberry Cupcakes:

1 1/4 cup (140g) cake flour, weighed or spooned and leveled
3/4 cup (144g) granulated white sugar
15g (about 1 cup or half of a 1.2oz pouch) freeze-dried strawberries
, crushed into a powder
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (1/2 stick/57g) unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large egg, room temperature
1 large egg white, room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup (4oz) sour cream, room temperature

Strawberry Filling:

2/3 cup finely chopped fresh strawberries, patted dry
1/3 cup seedless strawberry jam

Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
8oz brick cream cheese, room temperature
15g (about 1 cup or half of a 1.2oz pouch) freeze-dried strawberries, crushed into a powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3-4 cups (1lb) powdered sugar (confectioners' sugar), sifted
Fresh strawberry fans, for garnish

Directions

Prepare Cupcakes:

Preheat oven to 350° F. Line a cupcake pan with baking cups.
Pulse freeze-dried strawberries in a food processor or high-speed blender until it turns into a powder, or crush in a resealable bag with a rolling pin until fine. Set aside.
With an electric mixer, beat together cake flour, sugar, strawberry powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt on low speed for about 20 seconds. Add softened butter and oil and mix 1-2 minutes until mixture resembles wet sand.
In a small bowl, whisk together egg, egg white, vanilla, and sour cream. Slowly add the wet mixture on low speed until incorporated. Scrape down the bottom and sides of the bowl. Increase to medium speed and beat 20-30 seconds until smooth.
Distribute batter between the baking cups, filling about 2/3 full. Bake for 16-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. (About 10 minutes for mini cupcakes.) Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.

Filling:

Mix together chopped strawberries and jam.
Use an apple corer or small knife to create a hole in the center of each cupcake.
Fill completely cooled cupcakes with the strawberry mixture and replace the cut-out cupcake top.

Frosting:

With an electric mixer, beat softened butter on medium-high speed until light and creamy, 2-3 minutes.
Beat in cream cheese, strawberry powder, and vanilla until smooth (ensure cream cheese is room temperature to avoid lumps).
Add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, on low speed until fully incorporated. Scrape down the bottom and sides of the bowl. Increase to medium-high speed and beat an additional 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy. Transfer to a piping bag with a large round tip.
Frost completely cooled cupcakes. Top with a fresh sliced strawberry. Serve immediately. Frosting can be made a few days in advance and stored in the fridge. Bring to room temperature and mix before frosting cupcakes.

1 cup Rosé or Pink Champagne (reduced to 1/2 cup), plus 2-3 tablespoons reserved
1/2-3/4 cup whole milk
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2-3 drops pink food coloring (optional)
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cubed and softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
White sugar sprinkles, nonpareils, and sugar pearls for garnish

Instructions:

Reduce the Champagne: Pour 1 cup of champagne into a saucepan and simmer over medium-high heat until it reduces by half (about 8-10 minutes). Pour back into a measuring cup and add enough milk to equal 1 cup of liquid.
Cook the Base: Return the mixture to the saucepan. Whisk in flour, sugar, and food coloring (if using) over low heat. Bring to a boil, whisking constantly. Boil for 1 minute until thick and smooth, similar to pudding.
Cool Completely: Transfer the mixture to a shallow heatproof bowl or plate. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing directly onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming. Chill in the refrigerator for about 1 hour or in the freezer for 30 minutes.
