For me, the lack of apps, and the fact that the Asus Transformer Book with Windows 8.1 for $349 are bad news for the Surface 2. I’m all for competition, but the Apple & Android offerings are much more compelling, and much cheaper!

I spent a few weeks running Windows 8, and I just didn’t enjoy the experience at all. Don’t get me wrong, I love competition in the tablet market, and Microsoft is trying to be disruptive but I’m not sure they reached the goal. The form factor, laptop style deisgn and kickstand just don’t make sense for reading in bed, or surfing on the couch. I get that they’re trying to make this device more than a info-consumption tablet and move it into a creation device but it’s an awkward place with no clear winner.
I would like to see this thing as part of the smart glass solution, but thats very meta and i’d probably just buy a chromebook for half the price.
I agree with Jeff. Each of us has a formed view based on experience and knowledge, but we all approach a problem in a unique way which makes the collective mind a stronger, smarter resource to utilize.
certainly not his biggest mistake… it was great for html 5, and an evolutionary step to understand what capabilities were needed to go native… good read nonetheless

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we’re experiencing the dotcom bubble of mobile devices and technology. Content is shifting form to tablet and phone resolutions and the landscape of the web will be forever changed.
If you are only considering a strategy that includes applications for mobile phone devices, you’ll be frantic in 2-3 years when tablets become the dominant platform. Content should be adaptable to all platforms; web, phone, tablet, televisions, and even gaming devices.

How often do we encounter these techniques at work? More often than not, people are predisposed to a solution based on manipulation that is driven by factors that incentivize the individual, not the customer, nor the company. Meetings should be about managing understanding the problem and outlining the solution, not building consensus on a pre-determined delivery date.
