i'm starting to think i should tweet from my blog. i.,e i shouldn't worry about putting up a big, meaty post and instead focus on short bursts of content. i can then cross-post that on twitter and facebook of course. hmmm, maybe cross-posting should get smarter, so that posts under 140 characters act as tweets, as do flickr titles/images. but, anything else goes in as a "from my blog:" tweet.

will i ever start blogging again?

i really wonder. i'd like to keep my domain, but i'm not sure if a blog is the answer...the site should really just aggregate content that streams out of the services i have time for - flickr, twitter, google reader - all microblogging platforms.

i'll never forget seeing my first picture using veronica...it was a farm house in new hampshire and the pic took 30 min to download. but, it blew me away. can't remember when that was, but early 90's...

why i run with an iphone, or "why did the turkeys cross the road"

i went on a run this afternoon and used my iphone as my ipod. while it's not really suited for running, i always do...why? well, besides the obvious (to deal with emergencies), what happened today in my 1 hour run certainly explains it:

i was able to listen to radiohead AND switch to wunderadio (an iphone app) to listen to the cal vs. wa bball game. very very cool. and, go bears!

15 min into my run, our sick neighbor called to see if we could watch her son. being able to take the call and then call my wife enabled us to help her. btw, love the music fade in/out before and after the call.

i took a different route today and was trying to find a way thru some paths in north oakland...and so naturally i used google maps to find my way.

google voice search came to my rescue when i wanted to know how late a store was open so that i could decide whether to keep running or go home early to pick up dinner.

while running, i often have great inspirations or just think of stupid things i need to do...typically, i then spend the rest of the run repeating them over and over and over again...well, quickvoice (another iphone app) solved that problem :)

and finally, i like to have a camera on me at all times...why? so that i can capture pics of wild turkeys in berkeley of course :)

i'm sure that my new G1 (thanks google!) can do all of these things, especially now that the iTunes library is DRM-free. btw, the g1 camera needs to take pictures "faster."

but, in general, i hope most of my runs require fewer digital services:)

it's been quite a year...truly one full of great highs and lows. but, the last two weeks have been nice as it seems as though everyone took a breather (everyone but those in gaza of course).

i'm hoping that the break from work, the media, wars, and economy, etc. will help us as we get set to welcome our new president. he needs us to come together, be hopeful, and above all, be passionate...oh if only we could just bottle the energy from the campaign (on both sides). :)

ps - just as i wrote this, arianna huffington posted something similar.

pps - if anyone wants a hotel room in fairfax for the inauguration, i have a room from sat - wed at less than $200 a night. let me know asap as i'm cancelling the reservation this week. my email is don at donloeb.com.

since obama didn't give june credit, a friend of mine decided to take matters into her own hands. she's selling t-shirts with the line from her 1978 poem, "for south african women." the proceeds are going towards t-shirts for the students of the June Jordan School for Equity and to her (and my wife's) documentary film on june...

my first blog was on blogger and i'm in the process of moving back.

i've successfully imported my blog from wordpress and i'm now working on formatting, etc. it's going to take some time. during the migration, i had to deal with deleting tons of comment spam that come over from wordpress, and so, i ended up deleting some posts and deleting all comments. oh well.

so far i like the product...just need to find a template i like and make a bunch of tweaks...

today, the guardian moved all of their rss feeds from headlines and simple abstracts to full-text. i "think" that they are the first major newspaper in the world to do so. clearly, the folks at the guardian understand that users want to consume content where they want to and that monetization should simply be stapled to content items so that distributed consumption can be financially worthwhile...

this is a really big deal...congratulations to matt and the entire team...

lastly, i predict that within 5 years, all major media cos will have fat feeds... :)

seriously, the interviews just keep getting better and better. is she really their vp candidate? am i dreaming? for the sake of the world, i hope i am...

btw, i just thought of a new drinking game...drink when sarah (1) says "foundationally" or "usher in," (2) she just simply fails to complete a sentence, (3) she ignores the question altogether...

three months ago, nokia sent me a n95 to test out. since i was headed to Zurich for a week and my iPhone was going to be super expensive, it was perfect timing. thanks nokia!

my quick and simple review - GREAT camera and fantastic video, lousy interface. so, it's an incredible device if you want a camera plus a phone, not if you want a phone plus a camera :)

here's a video (make sure to watch it in hi-def) that i took during the lucerne yodeling festival.

real vs. parody - can't really tell the difference...
