Bill Withers Live At Carnegie Hall - I Can’t Write Left-Handed is is possibly the best live recording ever.

I’ve transcribed his monologue before the song:

We recorded this song on october the 6th, since then the war has been declared over. If you’re like me you’re remember it like anyone remembers any war: one big drag. A lot of people write songs about wars and government, various social things. But I think about young guys who where like I was when I was young. I had no more idea about any government or political things or anything. And I think about those kinda young guys now, who all of a sudden—somebody comes up, and they’re very law abiding, so if somebody says go they don’t ask any questions, they just go. And I can remember not too long ago seeing a young guy with his right arm gone—Just got back—and I asked him how he was doing. He said he was doing alright now but he had thought he was going to die. He said getting shot at didn’t bother him, it was getting shot that shook him up. And I tried to put myself in his position. Maybe he cried, maybe he said… I can’t write left handed…

The details and the summary elements are new. And they’re awesome. I’m jotting this down so I can remember (and also you can help me with the jQuery, cos it’s buggy.) I’ve written a bit of HTML/CSS and jQuery which allows for show/hide behaviour the the above mentioned elements. The details element has one attribute: open. Consider the following HTML and CSS:

I’d have to agree with this sentiment. The Suburbs has been a bit of a slow-burner for me. It didn’t jump up and smack me in the face like Funeral/Neon Bible did, but it has totally grown on me. The entire album sits perfectly as a whole. I would find it difficult to single out any one song—unlike Wake Up (from Funeral) & No Cars Go (from Neon Bible).

The Suburbs is a clear sign The Arcade Fire have matured since their first LP release way back in 2004. Slightly melancholic, beautifully constructed and well worth buying. So yeah—do that: buy it, buy it now.
