I made some awesome lego nail art today! I actually cut off the lego tips and glued them onto my nails, for a real lego effect. You can also place lego parts on them to have some fun with them. :) I suggest Patrick Starr.

Hey dudes.

I hope everyone's having a great summer. Mine has been full of ups and downs and turns and jumps. My creative projects have been somewhat evolving, especially the bigger ones, and I've been looking forward to doing more collaborative projects with others (one girl can only do so much alone). So, holler if you'd like me on your team!

Although I graduated from photography school last year, I'm not pursuing a photography career at this time, mostly because I can't afford it and I still don't know as much as I'd like to know. I'm instead trying out some new paths - you'll see really soon! I've been hoping to network a little more in the GTA, with people from different types of creative fields - so let me know if you want to meet up. :)

I need some new inspirationnnnnnnn!!

"Art from the Inside Out" @ PAMA

I haven't posted an entry in a while! I was distracted and unmotivated, but I was also working on some gallery stuff. :) I got the opportunity - many thanks to Garry from The Bridge - to create some projects for an exhibit at PAMA called Art from the Inside Out. It's featuring artwork from inmates and ex-inmates in the area.

Above is an installation I created, with the help of many friends, for this exhibit. It represents inmates being viewed as being all the same, and labelled with a number. The bar code number I used may not have been random. You can view a progress photo here and here.

Here I made a giant photograph of hands - my hands actually - to go with the feel of the exhibit. You can see all the details in the skin, because I made this photo using my Skin Prints style. This was the first time I tried using whole hands by piecing together 4 strips of tape. Many people loved it! It was awesome.

Above I thought of making a "sign in" board for people to put their finger prints. I thought it tied really well with the whole theme, and many people enjoyed this one as well! I was surprised at how many people had already signed it when I arrived to the opening reception.

Here we had rounded up some great quotes from ex-inmates to display. I tried to make it look like they were printed on metal sheets of paper - but it was actually Bristol board! I fooled a few people.

On the bench I also created a book labelled "Add Your Story", where people can write down their own personal stories of times when they felt imprisoned - not necessarily physically.

Some of the ex-inmates attended, too. It was really fun to be a part of this, and it was quite a lot of work! I really appreciate all the help I received, and the great people I've met through this.

A while ago, I had a dream that me and my friends were visiting an old man's house which was going to be torn down. He had a lot of treasures in his attic that he was giving away to anybody who wanted them before the house were to be destroyed. My friends and I started collecting things, and I noticed a bunch of dice all over the floor. For some reason those were the only thing that interested me, and I started stuffing my pockets with dice until I couldn't fit anymore. After we left the house, one of my friends turned to me and asked, "What are you going to do with all those dice?" and I replied "I'm going to make a giant die out of them."

That was the first time I've ever gotten some sort of art idea in a dream, so I decided to make it happen!

So I'm working on a graffiti project and decided to try and create my first layered stencil (2 layers, third optional). I decided to use grumpy cat. :) I love him! This is the final result, although it's a rushed test so it's not the greatest.

So I rented a macro lens for a day! I had some fun with it and here are some of my favourite shots. I've always been a huge macro fan, especially microscopic things.

Pine Apple.

This play on words was sitting in my sketchbook for a couple of years so I finally decided to create it. It's a pine apple that is made entirely out of pine needles, a pine branch for the wick, and glue. It took me a few days to get it all done! It looks great on my shelf - maybe I'll sell it!

Fall Rise Project - Numbered Leaves

This is my latest art project called Fall Rise.

This Brampton project consisted of number stamping 1,500 leaves from around the area, and then releasing them along a portion of the Etobicoke Creek Trail (Sandalwood to Williams) for people to find as treasures. They'll be on the trails from Wednesday, December 19th. The day before the last day of fall. :)

The ink is permanent and waterproof! I actually learned a lot about leaves while making this project. I didn't realize how many different types of trees were growing around my neighbourhood, along with the crazy shapes the leaves have. A lot of the leaves would react in a different way towards the ink, and many of them would dry in different ways too. Leaves are something I see every single Autumn but never think twice about. This was a fun challenge to get myself to see familiar things in a deeper and more observable way. Leaves are beautiful!
