Let's not kid ourselves: it was Kershaw who decided to leave the Dodgers, not the Dodgers who pushed him into retirement. There would always have been a place for the great left-hander in the white and blue uniform. A legend like that, who represented the city of Los Angeles for 18 years, deserves respect!

Smith says it: he was special. Both on the field and in the locker room. It makes sense—with his illustrious career, Kershaw has seen it all, and he must have been a guiding light for his teammates. Both as an athlete and as a person.

It's clear that a player as iconic as Clayton Kershaw is missed by his peers. It's no wonder they were all happy to see him back at Dodger Stadium, sitting right by the field in the owner's box.

And Bolduc's contract can wait. He won't be a free agent after all. Yes, he may receive hostile offers from other teams, but it's not as if the Habs are in financial trouble and wouldn't be able to match an offer.

And if the offer is too high, the Habs could receive compensatory picks, which they could then trade for that much-sought-after top-6 forward.

But anyway, that probably won't happen.

Because earlier this year, Marte reached the 10-year service mark. And since he's also spent five consecutive years with his current team, he now has a no-trade clause.

We don't actually know if Marte wants to leave. But what we do know is that even if the Diamondbacks are frustrated, they won't be able to trade Marte if he has no intention of leaving.

This is one of the main reasons his name was mentioned quite a bit last winter (even though he hadn't yet reached 10 years of service)… and it's why the Diamondbacks might be stuck with him.
