this site is on hiatus.

summer ?? updates

2012-04-06T15:43:00.000-07:00

*notice*

the paragraphs below are meant entirely for shift gaming systems (readers/staff/etc)

- -

Yay! summer is here. for those of you who want to keep track of the latest games,
be it browser based or client /(ed) games, emulators and such ..

do watch this blog cause I on behalf of the admins and staff of shift gaming systems will
re-launch the site on a new domain, with new contents and possibly things you can't get
just by searching them on google, exclusive reviews, tricks and tips on the latest game trends.

current url ; http://shift.privatesub.net

future url ; (undecided)

why the move?

- as most of my readers know and most of them are from shiftgs group way back from friendster,
gaming friends, new friends, guide watchers and gfx fanatics

privatesub.net is a hosting site acquired by us (the admins of the group) but in the last 2 years,
running it while keeping our busy (lazy) life has brought us to a decision.

the decision that we will sell (privatesub.net) the account itself with all its hosting capabilities to
another group catering post-to-host website, but what we really agreed was, they'll will just use the hosting
as part of their current site and possible just offer them to people having their own domain names (or a subdomain of the (privatesub.net) site.

before the end of this month, we are closing all currently (free) hosted cpanel accounts on privatesub.net
as the new owner(s) want to receive the site cleared of sitting accounts,

bills, and payments for the paid accounts registered through us will be acquired by the owner with the
agreement that they will extend the domain name, and all previous and future addons will be implemented.

Greets and thanks to the supporters, donators, the admins, staff, and those who visited us frequently there.
atm the forum is closed while the moving of files will start on April 15, 2012.

don't fret. shift[gs] will be back online.

Dear Visitors,

Sad to say, the server I am currently playing is downgrading to Season 5 Episode 4.

I had so much fun while playing there, I met new friends.

Even with the current changes to the said server, I will still play on it.

after all MuLander is one of the Best Season 6 Server I played.

although I am willing to try other and play other servers, I am still hoping,

one day during this year, MuLander will go back to Season 6.

furthermore,

I will update more MU Online Related News in this blog. while keeping the old posts.

MU Official Helper Updates

2011-07-17T19:02:00.000-07:00

MU Official Helper Update ( webzen link )

Quote:

In an effort to resolve hacking issues mainly caused by using illegal hack programs, we did survey to hear users opinions about 'Offical Auto Programs'.

As the result of the survey, we received many positive responses from MUTIZENs and decided to bring 'Official MU Helper' into the world of MU.

Ditch the hack program you are using!
Official Auto Program is now available for you.
Enjoy MU in much safer game environment with Official MU Helper!

Other Info:

• MU Official Helper is designed to help hunting in MU Online.
• MU Official Helper can be available with characters over level 80
• As MU Official Helper runs, a certain amount of Zen is spent every 5 minutes.
• The amount of Zen spent using MU Official Helper increases as character level rises.
• When MU Official Helper runs, the gauge bar in the top left hand corner rises.
• As the stage of gauge bar increases, the amount of Zen spent increases.
However, the maximum level of stage is 5 and the stage doesn’t rise any more.

• As MU Official Helper stops running, the gauge bar is initialized.
• MU Official supports hunting at both short and long range and detailed settings such as attack skill, buff, potion, item acquisition are available.
• MU Official Helper can be set up by clicking on the button in the top left hand corner for start and stop. (Short key Z for start and Short key Home for stop)

• Chatting function is available with MU Official Helper at the same time.
• In the case of Dark Knight, activation skill 1 and 2 should appropriately be set up for using combo skills.
• With combo option checked, a basic skill, activation skill 1, and activation skill 2 are automatically casted in sequence.

• In the case of Dark Lord, summon monsters are required first to cast dark spirits.
• MU Official Helper is designed for user friendly environment and it is somewhat difficult to help those who get disadvantages or involved in any conflict by using MU Official Helper.

MU Official Helper Guide

2011-07-17T18:54:00.000-07:00

auto pot, or auto combo (3pp) Third Party Program was always been
a headache while playing MU Online, this was regarded as a cheat system

an auto-pot user will not die unless he has some serious latency problem and
is out-of-pots. below is one of the images released by WebZen themselves for the
new feature guide for MU Online Season 2 Episode 2.

first off, its nice to know they integrated an auto-pick / loot system

which by far, is not new to MMORPG, didn't you know? Ragnarok has this way
before every MMORPG was launch, the sad part is, only few companies actually
did put this integration to their system. And Webzen has finally realized that this is
indeed a great feature.

second, the auto+ (combo/pot) is not a good idea. I think it is a big joke having it
ingame, playing MU needs skill, there will be no point in duel/pk if you can just autopot your way in it. Combo skill in MU is by far one of the greatest things you'll learn while playing, you need timing, patience, and more practice to enhance
and make your combo hit precisely. so having this, all great combo users will be put to shame.

p.s:
in the past few weeks I've seen new private server having s6 e3 but unfortunately
i can't read the main page. so I can't confirm if they really are running that version or just a hoax to tempt people to joint their server.

image below is from webzen news.

1. Click on the "Setting" button

2. You can type any specific item name and can add it to your list for automatic picking.

3. Potions can be used automatically when the HP becomes lower than the status you set

4. Combo skills can be used automatically by setting activation skills

5. "Save setting" otherwise settings will not be initialized.

6. Click the "START" button.

Run.

2011-07-09T22:21:00.000-07:00

This blog post is not to undermine any server/admin.

This post is a reply to some or few of those who actually emailed me
asking if there are p.servers which I won't recommend and if possible that
I'd post them in this blog. so here goes..

How to find a good server?: - Be aware of the server network.; - Know their background, join forums, ask around.
How to find a good community?: - a good community must have its own identity. not a network forum.
What server should you be aware of?: Funz Gaming Network

these are some of the servers of funz, so having 1 forum for all is quite a mess

http://www.muonline.dk || Funz Muonline Maxed EXP Server
http://www.silvermu.com || Muonline Easy Leveling Server
http://www.unitedmu.com || Funz Muonline Challenging Server
http://www.phoenixmu.com || Funz MuOnline Low EXP server.
ancientmu just opened this week and its from funz.

and possibly more servers to open, so if you're up for not so good support.
try them at your own risk.

if you came from those servers listed above and possibly angry with this post.
GO and Make your own blog and make me look bad in it. lamer.

- ♣ -
other things to be aware when looking for a private server to play in:

"Hello, server was totally remade and reopened with fresh data bases with new Season # files with a lot of new features, updates and unseen things."

the quoted text above is an example of a database wipe. the admin wiped the databases, or it got wipe. most likely because it cannot maintain support from players or is running away from refund and such. if you see this on the server you want to play in, expect that within or less than 6 months playing in it, they'll wipe the databases again. a good server wouldn't wipe a db even if the accounts are 2 years old and inactive. so cross fingers and pray they wont wipe when you start playing.

- ♣ -
• Don't fall for the new sets, especially for custom ones.
fact is, they'll just use it as an excuse when you'll encounter game problems like
item lost after dc. these type of server are mostly run by kids.

• Read the main page, if there are more than 5 typo errors, wrong grammar or omitted words, these servers mostly offer gm status through donation and with many gms or gm status that can be bought using site credits is a bad sign.

• BEWARE of: "Those who will make empty votes will be banned at the end of week! (or accounts with no votes)
yup, servers having these notices are lame, yes very lame. why would they force you to vote? they shouldn't have opened a server for free if you will be forced to vote.

• watch the online players status:
if online players is greater than 500 then don't join it. that is a laggy server. ( or a no people server or the server has only less than 30 online )
even if you have a dedicated vps, 1 server can only hold a maximum of 200 players online without having small lag. so choose wisely.

• Beware of .lv servers. Trust me, your better of playing on low rate season4 servers than playing on them. ( what server? this server http://muonline.com.lv/ )

• Beware of forums with ads, wtf? its a forum not a website. and its supposed to be a support forum for players not a cash cow for admins. so yeah. that's my point.

that's all for now, I will make reviews for servers/site in the weeks to come.

please share your opinion by commenting on this post.
>:)

lame comments are accepted. although you will be in my hall of shame.

Have a nice day!

Does life online give you 'popcorn brain'?

2011-06-29T00:45:00.000-07:00

CNN talks about something you should really read.

Internet addiction? Do you have one?

June 23, 2011 -- Updated 1103 GMT (1903 HKT)

Over time, and with enough Internet usage, the structure of our brains can actually physically change, according to a new study.

(CNN) -- When Hilarie Cash arrives home from work in the evening, she has a choice: She can go outside and tend to her garden or she can hop on her laptop.

The lilacs really need weeding. The computer, on the other hand, can wait, as her work is done for the day.

Despite this, Cash feels drawn to the computer, as if it's a magnet pulling her in. Maybe there's an e-mail from a friend awaiting her, or a funny tweet, or a new picture posted on Facebook.

"I find it extremely difficult to walk away," Cash says. "It's so hard to tell myself, 'Don't do it. Go do the gardening.' "

Does it really matter if Cash gardens or goes online? Increasing, experts say it does. The worry is that life online is giving us what researcher, David Levy, calls "popcorn brain" -- a brain so accustomed to the constant stimulation of electronic multitasking that we're unfit for life offline, where things pop at a much slower pace.
