It's been a rough few years in Austin since Colt McCoy's dad took him out of the National Championship Game so he'd be healthy enough to sit on NFL benches, but if this week's "Texas Football" video is any indication the Longhorns are BACK. Or, at the very least, Mack Brown realizes he's actually still the coach at Texas and his job is on the line.

As if the REAL video wasn't over the top and ridiculous enough...

It's tough to get excited about college football when we're watching 24 hour coverage of entire towns being wiped off the face of the earth, so we're taking a break today to keep Oklahoma in our thoughts and post some highlights from better days in the Sooner state...days which are sure to return this fall.

Most of us are old enough to remember the Oklahoma City area facing unspeakable tragedy and coming out better for it, and there's no doubt we'll see it again. Highlight Monday: Miami RB Duke Johnson

The odds for the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner are already out in Vegas, and Johnny Manziel is predictably the favorite (4/1) as he tries to defend the hardware. Ohio State QB Braxton Miller (7/1) and USC WR Marquise Lee (9/1) round out the Top 3, with AJ McCarron, Aaron Murray and De'Anthony Thomas not far behind. That's a pretty solid Top 6, but if you're actually looking for bang for you Heisman buck look no further than Miami's Duke Johnson, sitting on the board at a clownish 12/1.

Johnson burst onto the scene in Coral Gables as a true freshman, running for 135 yards and 2 TDs in the season opener against Boston College. His usage and production dipped in the middle of the season, but he found his stride late, going for 100 or more in three of his last four games. Johnson finished his freshman campaign with 1,168 yards from scrimmage and 11 TDs, averaging a ridiculous 6.8 yards per carry on his way to ACC Rookie of the Year honors.

Get your bets in now while he's 12/1, because unless he cuts both of his legs off just to see how quickly he can recover Johnson's odds will never be this low again. There are AT LEAST 10 plays in this video that will make you legitimately question if this kid is even human:

PS: The fact that a kid born in 1993 just did the things he did in that video makes me want to get a Medicare card and then immediately jump off a building. Should've been tackled 13 times on those VT and Duke runs.

Which College Football Team Is Every Arrested Development Character?

With the long-awaited fourth season of Arrested Development due to hit Netflix next weekend we've got the Bluth Family on the mind at DC World Headquarters.

If you've got 18 free hours ("Really...did nothing cancel?") get online and watch the first three seasons immediately. If not, here's a helpful round-up of Orange County's least favorite family in terms you can all understand...college football teams.

George Bluth

Characteristics: Wildly successful, extremely arrogant, wears orange, takes illegal money, wrongfully punished for a crime he didn't commit, throws boat parties, has "the worst fucking attorneys."

Verdict: Miami Hurricanes

Lucille Bluth

Characteristics: Was actually doing illegal stuff when everybody thought George was, narcissistic, embezzles money and uses it to buy houses in Southern California, turns on her children (and/or former Heisman winners), never lives up to the hype in charity auctions, peaked in the 1970s.

Verdict: Southern California Trojans

GOB Bluth

Characteristics: Comes from wildly successful family/conference but can't get his shit together, any success he has is entirely smoke and mirrors, continually disappoints regardless of expectations, dances like he's never even seen a chicken despite obvious connection, lost his legs (too soon), semi racist.

Verdict: South Carolina Gamecocks

Michael Bluth

Characteristics: Self-centered and judgemental. Demands credit and praise for everything even though he hasn't accomplished anything in years. Undeserved sense of self-importance and righteousness. Gets farther than he should in business based solely on name and reputation.

Verdict: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Lindsay (Bluth) Funke

Characteristics: Spoiled, selfish, attention whore who's obsessed with style (always), the environment (sometimes) and cheating (unsuccessfully) but has never actually accomplished anything of substance. Forgets that there's no "I" in Teamocil (at least not where you'd think).

Verdict: Oregon Ducks

Buster Bluth

Characteristics: Smart, but he's been getting picked on by the big guys for years, deploys to Iraq, rocks fatigues and dress uniforms like a boss, pride and joy of his uncle, earns medals for Marksmanship and Sand Racing, has Army training for "hot missions."

Verdict: Army Cadets

Tobias Funke

Characteristics: Overeducated but lacks any real-world ability or achievements, closet homosexual, lacks self-awareness, paints himself blue, will suck it up even if it means taking a chubby.

Verdict: Duke Blue Devils

George Michael Bluth

Characteristics: Takes a thriving business and runs it into the ground in a span of weeks, sucks at politics ("you sure you didn't film that IN A CAVE?"), spends too much time with whacko Christians, wears blue and yellow, is in love with his cousin.

Verdict: West Virginia Mountaineers

Maeby Funke

Characteristics: Extremely successful despite her young age and being surrounded by incompetence, rocks the best costume in the Inner Beauty Pageant but still can't win the big one, gets tossed back and forth by relatives like expanding and contracting conferences.

Narrator

Characteristics: The glue holding it all together, narrates and advances the story without controlling it (sorry, Brent), couldn't make it as an actor and had to run things from the producer's booth.

2013 New Uniform Round-Up

We've been trying to stay on top of all the teams switching logos and uniforms for the 2013 season (links at the bottom), but we let a few new looks slip through our fingertips in the end zone. Here are the latest updates from around the college football universe, and a recap of the ones we've already posted.

OLE MISS: Hard to believe we missed this one...considering it's the exact same thing. Apparently there's a renewed focus on "jersey and pant combinations." Whatever.

SOUTHERN MISS: The Golden Eagles jumped from Nike to Russell Athletic and made some minor tweaks to their jerseys...unfortunately they used a fugitive sex offender as their model so this is as good of a look as we can get.

GEORGIA: The Bulldogs have changed the size and typography of their uniform numbers because they want to look like Rutgers...I guess?

TEXAS TECH: The Red Raiders have a new helmet for every game, practice, media day, and offseason conditioning drill.

CENTRAL FLORIDA: The Knights went minimalist with the new jerseys and unveiled an "Army in 1945" style helmet.

SAN DIEGO STATE: I literally have no idea what they changed, so enjoy this picture.

Notre Dame Proposes Second Stadium Expansion in 20 Years

From 1930 to 1996 Notre Dame Stadium remained almost entirely unchanged, significantly increasing capacity only once by changing the average seat size from 18 inches to 17 inches (seriously). In 1997 the school added another ring to the stadium, retaining but obscuring the view of the original facade, blocking Touchdown Jesus' site lines, and expanding capacity from 59,000 to 81,000. With the Irish returning to national relevance and the school considering a "university master plan" that will bring more student activities to the stadium area, Notre Dame is considering their second expansion in less than 20 years.

The school only released one concept drawing (shown above, much larger version HERE), but Notre Dame's plan will increase capacity to approximately 85,000, add luxury boxes and club seating, move the press box, and create separate tunnels for the Irish and visiting teams. Irish alumni have long opposed upgrades including FieldTurf and video boards, so expect this one to get plenty of backlash from the stadium purists (you can see a sampling of Twitter reactions HERE). You know who it probably won't get a ton of backlash from? Professors. In an effort to distance themselves from other powerhouses expanding their stadiums in the most Notre Dame-y way possible, the Irish are selling this as an academic project. The expansion will include classrooms, conference rooms, reception areas, a student center for assemblies, a student recreation area, stores, a restaurant, and an expanded media center for the school's external relations departments.

Whether you love or hate Notre Dame and their often holier than thou (literally) approach to athletics and academics, the school deserves some credit for using a stadium expansion to improve the academic and social university experience for all students. If the Irish can pull this off it could usher in a new era of schools expanding the size and role of athletic facilities and developing more creative funding streams for improvements.

Now if they could just get to work on those video boards...

Arizona Gets Nike Upgrade, Brings Back Copper Helmets

Nike's offseason long rebranding campaign travelled to Tucson last week, where Arizona got a massive new batch of red, white and blue uniform combinations for the 2013 season, bringing us one step closer to ensuring no Nike school wears the same uniform twice next fall. I'm not a huge fan of the Wildcats duds because the multi-colored numbers and sleeve designs just look like they're trying WAY too hard. but there are still some sharp looks in there. The best addition? The Cats are bringing back the copper helmet they unveiled last season as a "nod to the state's mining history."

The former BC cheerleader was the latest reporter nabbed by Fox Sports 1, the national network launching in 99 days that plans to blow ESPN out of the water by not being pretentious assholes and actually covering sports. On behalf of everyone in the 617...America, meet Molly McGrath.

Marcus Lattimore Reacts to Getting Drafted

Hard to believe there were people saying Marcus would never walk again six months ago and now he's headed to the NFL. Lattimore's an awesome player and total class act by all accounts...he didn't deserve to have his career end on a cart against Tennessee. Now, thankfully, it won't. Get well soon, man.

With the butchered Miami investigation about to blow up in their faces, horrific injuries to Marcus Lattimore and Kevin Ware renewing calls for players to get paid, realignment destroying century-old partnerships and traditions, concussion concerns potentially altering the future of the game, and the BCS about to permanently outsource a lucrative playoff system, the NCAA has plenty to worry about. Naturally, the fun police in Indianapolis have turned their offseason attention to...banning hashtags from football fields.

Yep. The NCAA Rules Committee took time out from not doing anything rational or productive (ever) to ban teams from painting Twitter hashtags or website URLs on their fields. Want to have a blue field? Go nuts! A bright red field? Hell yeah bro! But God freaking help you if you put a tic-tac-toe sign in your end zone. The NCAA gods will not allow such blatant attempts to connect with your student body or improve the fan experience.

I know the NCAA isn't exactly known for well thought out policy or intelligence, but this is so nuts even Roger Goodell wouldn't do it. Just a classic Indianoplis rope-a-dope to try to convince us they still have any credibility and pull attention from everything else they've screwed up this year for 30 seconds. Well, NCAA...#GFY.

Now get to work on those concussions.

ACC Moving Games to Europe Because They Hate Having Fans and Making Money

CBS Sports: The ACC is feeling its new-found solidarity. So much so, that an idea has been raised about playing ACC football and basketball games in Europe, commissioner John Swofford told CBSSports.com. "We need to think big," Swofford said. "One of the things we brought up to our schools last week was we may play football, we may play basketball in Europe. Across the pond, so to speak."

Great idea, ACC. Guhhhhhhhreeeeaaaaattttt idea. This is like the quantum theory of college football decisisions, because it's so far above my level of thinking and intellect that it has to be an absolute genius move that I could never understand.

Orrrrr it's just the stupidest thing ever.

Teams are paying you $50 million to leave for the Big Ten. Conference attendance figures are falling at an unprecedented rate. Your conference champion just lost half a million going to the league's title game because nobody would buy tickets. I've got an idea that should fix everything: let's just move our football games to Europe where absolutely nobody cares about college football! That'll open the financial faucet back up!

This idea is so insanely stupid that I can't even write rationally about it right now. I'm trying to, but my eyes keep rolling back in my head like Linda Blair and I wake up 6 minutes later with a nosebleed and a headache (not unlike the 11 ACC fans that'll actually bother to get on red eye flights to London for this garbage). I'm just going to assume there's one employee, ONE, at the entire ACC headquarters that is going to recognize that this is the stupidest idea since John Carter and nip this thing in the ass before any of us ever have to hear about it again. Besides, if Europeans want to watch American football that bad they can always watch NFL Europe, right?

Nike Unveils 27 New West Virginia Uniforms

Welp, UConn's reign atop the Nike uniform buzz throne was nice for the 2 days that it lasted. Nike and West Virginia unveiled the Mountaineers new look this week annnnddddd...

Highlight Monday: ECU RB Noah Roberts

USA Today: 8-year-old Noah Roberts is battling cancer, but one day before returning to the hospital, he had the opportunity to end East Carolina's spring game by scoring a touchdown. Noah's sister attends ECU and he has been a part of the team for two years, so during the final play of the Pirates' game Saturday, Noah followed lead blocker Zico Pasut to the endzone. "Noah is special to us," head coach Ruffin McNeill said. "I think of Noah, I forget any kind of hurt or complaint or pain that I may have." After scoring the touchdown, Noah was lifted into the air as the Pirates chanted his name.

When the NCAA Rule Committee proposed ejections for targeting we knew it was only a matter of time before somebody got tossed for a helmet to helmet shot, but I don't think any of us expected it to come in a spring game.

Auburn's Jonathon Mincy managed to earn the first targeting ejection of 2013 four months before opening weekend when he absolutely unloaded on a defenseless wide receiver. On his own team. At practice. In April. Seriously. Check it out:

Cast Your Vote for the (Terrible) New Playoff Logo

BCS commissioner Bill Hancock and the heads of 10 FBS conferences met Monday night to choose from three dozen potential names for the college football playoff system that will replace the BCS in 2014. They came up with...

"The College Football Playoff."

Way to think out of the box, fellas.

In their defense, they did so something relatively innovative with the logo: opened it to a fan vote. You can choose from the four finalists above at www.collegefootballplayoff.com until Monday, May 1st. What's it going to be, people? The American flag inspired fake logo from every conference in the history of football movies? The AFC/NFC Championship logo knock-off? The football tweezers? The minesweeper symbol? Or if this is the best they could do maybe we should all just write in "keep the BCS?" Decisions, decisions.

In all honesty, who cares how bad the logo sucks? We're getting a college football playoff. They can pretty much slap anything except a swastika up there and I'll be cool with it. Get your picks in, kids.

UConn Joins the Nike Rebranding Party

Last month we showed you what happens when Nike teams up with a partner school to rebrand the athletic department. The Swoosh is at it again this week, backtracking down the Oregon Trail from Corvallis to Storrs, CT, where the Huskies are the latest program to get an extreme makeover. Nike and the University of Connecticut spent over a year focus grouping the hell out of color, logo and naming schemes to determine...wait for it...that the school was primarily identified as "UConn." Oh, the name everyone's been calling it for a century? Nice pull, researchers.

Nike started with a new primary logo for the Huskies...this possessed wolf/Iron Will sled dog:

It's not a great look, but when you compare it to the suicidal looking puppies the Huskies have had in the past it's not that bad (although I'm still a 2002-2013 fan):

New brands and logos are cool, but the noteworthy changes here are the uniforms. Here are some shots:

Three things. One, that's a clean looking setup and a major upgrade. Two, I'm glad they brought the red back. Three, why the hell are they going all white and all blue? Blue pants on the road, white pants at home, mix up the helmets. You're welcome.

And speaking of the helmets:

Yeeesh. I guess that's one way to get the new logo out there. I like that they went with matte finish and I don't mind the blue and white, but the Husky on the front just seems like they're trying way too hard to get people to talk about their uniforms. We'll see how it actually looks on the field, but for now this is a dud (literally) on top of an otherwise great look.

Ding, dong, the terrorist assholes are dead and captured! Thank you FBI, BPD, MSP, first responders, and all the other military and law enforcement officials that brought these little pricks to justice in a week. Thank you to their uncle in Maryland for affirming our faith that most people are good and for haaaating these kids even more than any of us ever can. RIP Krystle Campbell, Martin Richard, Lu Lingzi, and MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, who gave his life last night bringing these little shits down. To MBTA Officer Richard Donohue, Jr., all the other victims still recovering in hospitals, and the families of the victims: stay #BostonStrong.
