Early November has been busy for DTAMP. On the 4th a friend gave me two dimes ($0.20) that she found in the Airport on her vacation, in the country that ranks first in the Happy Planet Index. Costa Rica (literally translated "Rich Coast").

When she saw the dimes she immediately thought of my DTAMP project and brought them all the way from Central America to give to me to add to the stake. Now that is a dedicated DTAMP fan. :) Thank you!

DTAMP does have some dedicated fans and I am grateful for all of them!!!

I also made a stock trade and managed to make a profit on in Oil.

October was pretty much a month frozen in time for me. I have had bad experiences in the past with the month of October and Trading Stock so I refrained from trading.

As a result I missed a great move in Oil that could have made me, had everything gone perfectly about 50%. I got the signal but refused to move. I was paralyzed for the most part.

I decided that come November I would start to act and still have not. Oil has been jumping around and that would have lead to some good trades over the last two days. But still I just stare at the screen.

Thats OK.

I did manage to find a few bits of change for DTAMP over the month of October, but I haven't been going many places. My feet are not doing to well and I walk with a cane when they are at their worse, so looking for coins or searching for bottles and cans, has become a bit unenjoyable.

Something good came in the mail yesterday and that was a check from InBoxDollars for $28.50, which was nice. Inboxdollars is pretty easy to use. I just opened a mail account with Yahoo and had them send the emails there. I click on the advertisements every few days and when it builds to $30.00 I make a withdrawal.

Seems to be working well over the few years I have been doing it.

Finally a Blog Post! I apologize for not updating recently but I have not had anything to report but dreadful news and I was tired of only having to put that up here. I just didn't have the energy to keep things going. I made it through September but only just barely.

But now I do have a few good things to report and some are way over due.

First I want to thank Edo for his gift back on August 30th, 2009 for $10.00. I appreciate the encouragement.

As you can tell from the timeline I took a big loss on that UCO trade I was telling you I was in in my last post. I fouled up big time. I had a signal to get out at $12.65 and I didn't take it. I lost $243.04 on that trade. I had a few chances to get out and didn't and then went into panic mode and dumped everything. Needless to say I lost my cool and it hurt (very badly).

Here is how that trade went:

08/27/09 - Buy - 262 shares of UCO @ $11.60 p/s - Total $3039.20
09/04/09 - Sold - 262 shares of UCO @ $10.741 p/s - Total $2814.14Total (-$225.06) - ($17.98) Fees = (-$243.04)Net Loss of (-7.99684)% in the Amount of (-$243.04)

Had I gotten out at the $12.65 I would have had a profit of around $257.12. But I held the trade instead and on that weekend China announced something regarding their economy and oil tanked that Monday. I was stuck. It bounced up a few time and I could of taken a smaller profit but I held on. By that next friday my emotions pushed me into a bad, bad state and I sold everything. Turned out to be a big mistake. The following Tuesday it started back up and I would have been OK.

If you want to be a trader you absolutely must do several things:

First, study and obey the cover of the book "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", it reads "Don't Panic".

Second, know who you are dealing with, "Always Respect the Market", it can beat the stuffing out of you.

Third, "Know your limitations", going beyond them will cause you to trip and fall, screaming and writhing in pain and anguish, taking years off your life.

Here is something I have noticed when trading. When you get in a trade and it goes against you, somehow hope makes it all ok as it drops continuously. It is easy to take the loss because hope keeps telling you everything will be ok. The little voice inside, though, says, something is wrong, get out. But Hope says, no, don't take the loss, you can't take the loss.

So you hold and eventually it reaches a point when Hope suddenly turns on you and begins screaming, GET OUT!!! at the top of its lungs. Now this is when the Panic Mode sets in. Blind panic in fact. You can no longer even hear the still small voice that could help you. Even the voice of reason is gone. Other people may be trying to calm you but you can't stand the searing fire of pure desperation. You would cut off your right arm if it meant getting free of this situation.

At this point everything is lost. You are a lost cause. So you get out, even making mistakes along the way, but it doesn't matter. Finally you are free. But not really because now the darkness of regret will begin to roll in. The trade then reverses and your loss would have now turned into a gain or at least a break even. You are miserable.

Now what happens when you get in a trade and it goes your way? You keep waiting for the inner voice to tell you when to take your profit. It is an anxious time. Will you hear the voice, will you respond this time? Every tick upwards means more profit, but where is the top.

You are on pins and needles the whole time and that time can go on for days. Days and days of waiting. It never goes straight up alway back and forth. It can be nerve wracking. Eventually you reach a point you can't wait any longer and you put the order in to sell. The next day it keeps going up and you calculate how much more you would have made had you waited. You are miserable.

I know what you are thinking: Why in the world would anyone do it then?

I do not have an answer for that.

To be honest after what happened this September and in fact all the years I have traded it is amazing I continue to trade at all, ever.

But I did and here were the results:

I was able to make two trades with UCO and took $382.51 profit after commissions. So I was able to make a recovery from the previous loss and a little extra.

I also received a gift of $50.00 from a friend, I have been helping.

So despite the setbacks, eventually it is two miserable steps forward and hopefully only one miserable step back.

Overall things have been going dreadfully. I won't go into details but, without any exaggeration, everything is going very badly and we are being attacked in so many ways and from so many sources, I am not sure we will make it through this time without a full blown miracle occurring.

My hope is that one day, if at all possible, life will return to some state of normalcy.

Despite all that is happening, I keep plugging away at DTAMP in whatever capacity I am able to.

Today I found ($0.12) on the floor of the supermarket. The market was very busy and I needed to get to a dime that was in the middle of the checkout aisle. I kept going back to it but there would always be more people in the way. So finally I decided to wait in line and when I got up to the dime I picked it up. The clerk smiled at me. I think they have gotten used to my determination to get stray coins laying around.

There was a bit of a ruckus at the supermarket. I noticed this one guy kind of fall off the curb and landed on his back in the parking lot. I was walking out of the store at the time to get something in the car. Another guy sitting a ways away said to the guy something about getting up.

Then another of the four men got hostile for some reason and started to approach the guy that said something about getting up. The hostile one started to posture and cuss. You could tell he was trying to build up his courage to do something. As I walked away I could tell that there was going to be a fight or something.

By the time I got back one guy was sitting with a bloody face. In the store the guy that fell down was sitting there his face covered in blood. The hostile guy was no where to be seen. Eventually the police showed up with an ambulance.

It was obvious all four men were drunk. Pitiful. It was because of a drunk driver back in 1965 that my Father ended up dying early in life. The bad blood he got when they saved his life back then, ended up destroying his liver. It also destroyed the second liver. The 21 year old kid that hit us (he went out to celebrate his 21st birthday and got drunk), ripping off the driver side of our car, ended up going through the windshield and dying. All four of us survived, but just barely.

The surgeons gave up on my Father because he was a total mess and gave him to an intern to practice on. The intern ended up saving my Father's life. He spent three months in a coma and a year in the hospital. When he got out he died in our living room and saw the light and his body laying on the floor. He came back and they brought him to the hospital again. Turned out one of the arteries from the heart to the brain had broken off and fused to another area. They had to cut him from his heart to his brain to remove the artery and fix the damage.

That surgery had never been done in the world before and specialists from all over the world were trying to get the position to perform it. My Father survived. He went on to play golf every chance he got for the next 35 years. Nothing stopped this man. Not a broken back, crushed vertebrae, a missing artery, nor the destruction of his liver. He was unstoppable.

I never realized what a great man my Father was. Now I will never forget it.

I haven't made any trades for DTAMP since my Father went into the hospital at the beginning of June.

On Thursday, August 27th, 2009 I finally made a trade and purchased 262 shares of UCO @ $11.60

UCO is ProShares Ultra DJ-UBS Crude Oil(ETF).

I am still holding it at this point and fortunately it is up around +7.11% @ $217.00 after commissions. Hopefully Monday oil will go up.

The thing about UCO is that it is a leveraged play. The summary says; "The investment will seek to replicate, net of expenses, twice the daily performance of the Dow Jones AIG Crude Oil Sub-Index."

The problem with leveraged ETFs is that the longer you hold them the more of a disparity grows between the pure (2X) ratio and the reality of the actual investment. In other words it loses ground over time. So this ETF is really meant for fast in-out trades.

A couple of years ago I heard about Second Life, an online virtual world, where you can interact with other people, via an avatar. You can also create things by building them using a number of different techniques, rezzing objects, scripting, sculpties, particles, etc.

I enjoyed building things and as a result managed to sell some of them during my time on Second Life.

The above picture is a drafting tool kit. One of many different things I created along the way.

I withdrew some of my Linden Dollars from Second Life by selling them on XStreet and withdrawing them to PayPal. Fortunately I was not charged any fees on PayPal. So I received the entire amount of $70.59 .

In addition to that I have added ($0.26) in found change and ($11.30) in returned bottles and cans since my last blog post.

I am working on a few more things that may result in additional funds being added to the stake soon.

Three years ago today, August 2nd, 2006, I began the DTAMP project. At the present I am $3,015.86 closer to the goal of One Million Dollars. It isn't great but it is not to bad either. What surprises me most about the last three years is that it "Has" been three years. I didn't give up working on the project.

In most cases, I would have given up by now and moved on to other more exciting, maybe more profitable projects. I learned some valuable lessons working at DTAMP that I have applied to my personal life and finances that have actually helped to improve them.

Seeing results in my personal life, brought on by the things I learned, sticking it out through good times and bad with the Double To A Million Plan, has helped in me staying with the Project and not giving up.

Lately, I have fallen into a bit of a slump and things are moving ahead slowly. I haven't been able to trade the stake in the stock market because all it has wanted to do lately is go up. I missed the beginning of the move up in June and as a result have not been comfortable jumping in.

I am waiting for a pull back in the markets and then hope to get the signal to make a move. As a result DTAMP hasn't been growing much. I am more successful in a volatile, sideways market. NLY stopped that behavior and has been going higher almost every day for all of June and July.

I have been gathering aluminum cans though various methods, including getting them from a friend who has been collecting them for me. She owns a great gift gallery called Creative Connections .

Based on my rudimentary projections: $3000 divided by 3 years is about $1000 a year. $1,000,000 divided by $1000 per year equals 1000 years to reach the first million. So one of two things needs to happen here. One, I discover the secret to near immortality to last the remaining 996 years, 9 months and 27 days, or two, I find some way to quicken the pace by bringing in more money faster. At the present I am closer to finding the secret.

I want to thank those who offered their sympathy and condolences in regards to my Father's passing. People say that one day I will recover, after going through the grieving process. A part of me believes them and a part just cannot see it happening. The future will ultimately reveal it.

I do not feel like I am anywhere ready to post on the DTAMP blog, but I will anyways. Just please don't expect to much in the way of entertainment, inspiration, valuable advice, etc. , not that this blog provided any of that in the past. I just wanted to prepare you in case you started to get your hopes up.

Since my last post I managed to bring in the following amount into the DTAMP coffer:

These have been difficult times for me. My Father who had a liver transplant about 8 years ago was admitted to the hospital last week and then moved to a Hospice House. At the present moment it appears he will be passing away any day.

In addition on June 1oth my wife was laid off from work and we now have no family income.

I must confess I am filled with anguish, sorrow and concern and may not update this blog for awhile.

My hope is that better days may come one day.

Your Never Gonna Keep Me Down! Ahhhhh, the cycles in Life.

I must confess from time to time the thoughts of quiting DTAMP come into my mind. I get tired and worn out and maybe a bit discouraged. But just about the time that happens, something comes along that says "It is All Worth It!".

More than the money, perhaps what I am doing is encouraging and inspiring someone else in this life and that makes it much more valuable to me. The money is nice but life is far more than how many coins I can rub together.

Something came along at just one of those times that encouraged me and I wanted to say thanks for sending the email.

You're tenacity is amazing! I'm enjoying how you've added to your stake using different methods as time goes by. The stock trading makes for a good read, for sure. But I love how you never fail to mention, for example, that you "found a dime at Burger King..." My guess is that when you reach your million dollars (which i'm sure you will), the day after, you will still find a penny or a nickel or a dime, or an empty bottle or can by the side of the road-- and be off to your second million! Keep up the good work!

Here is the most current report on DTAMP since my last post:

I turned in 155 Aluminum Cans at Stop & Shop for recycling and received $7.75 for the DTAMP stake.

I also found ($0.02) on the floor of Burger King and McDonalds. My wife had this week off from work and we went out to eat way to much. That has got to stop. I gained 5 pounds in the last month.

When I was younger, teens, twenties and into my thirties I was very slim. Very, very slim and people would make fun of me all the time. They would say if I turned sideways and stuck out my tongue I would look like a zipper. They usually weighed a normal amount, like 175 lbs, so I looked really skinny to them at 120lbs. But eventually I started to gain weight and got up to 165-170 pounds.

At last, I thought, now I wouldn't be skinny anymore. But life cheated me out of that. Now everyone weighs 250 to 350 lbs and they still call me skinny. I guess it just goes to show everything is relative.

I try to keep the Burger King meal small. I order my usual: A Small Number Four, with cheese, without Onions. They seem to like me there and I am the only customer that is allowed to get a 20% discount, that is what the manager told me. I am not sure why. Maybe they think I am starving to death cause I am so skinny.

Since my last post, I have found ($0.25) Twenty-Five cents in change on the ground in various places, received ($25.00) as a gift from a Benefactor and got an ETF to my Internet Bank Account from an unspecified and unnamable advertising revenue source for ($106.88) .

So things with that are looking OK.

However, I am in a trade with most of the stake and that is not going so well.

At this present moment I am South (down) around (-$125.00) . I have been in the trade since 05/20/2009.

I did exactly what I did not want to do. I had been staying out of NLY because it had been floating even, going sideways for like 10 day after it had risen a good distance. I kept waiting and waiting for it to back down before I made a move, I had a very strong feeling it was going to drop. I lost my patience because I kept missing trades I knew I should have made over that ten day period and finally I decided to not hold back and just jump in. Big Mistake.

Of course, as soon as I did, it started to collapse. So I dun got stuck good.

I have decided to hold it until it either rises back to where I got in, plus a bit more to get most of the $18.00 commission, or hold it even longer for the dividend which could be estimated around (186 shares x $0.50 = $93.00) . The ex-dividend date should be around 06/26/2009 and hopefully the stock will rise again before that date.

The only problem with a hold situation is nothing much can be earned with the money during that time, slowing down possible growth of the stake.

Maybe I need a vacation from trading for awhile, so it will all work out just fine.

I went shopping with my wife on Saturday. I use to not like going grocery shopping (except when I might find coins for DTAMP), but now I have a new toy to play with.

Yes, I am talking about the new Laser Scanner at Stop & Shop. This handy little gizmo happens to not be much of a stretch from the Dust Buster Star Trek Phaser design of years past. (Although not my most favorite design, it will do in a pinch when you gotta grocery shop and need to protect yourself from strange alien children.)

I have to constantly quench the urge to handle it like a futuristic weapon, and fighting it out with some kid riding along in a cart, while making the best phaser sounds I can audibly produce.

(Warning: Of course I wouldn't actually do that because these devices do have a laser diode and must be respected. Don't look into the laser or point it at anyone. Eye damage is always a possibility when dealing with lasers.)

Meanwhile, my wife reminds me shopping is serious business and to please scan these pork chops. She managed to get to use it for a few minutes while I ran off to the Little Space Cadets room.

Although I have had a tendency to be an Anti-Technological, Iconclastic Luddite lately, this device is really a step up in grocery shopping.

There are some pros and some cons that I can see.

One good thing is that you do not have to load, unload and then reload groceries. That means less people touching my food packaging, transfering diseases to me and mine. I was always working at avoiding the checkout that had a bagger I called "The Licker".

He would lick his fingers before opening each plastic bag then touch my food before it went into the bag. I had to wash every single thing when I got home. Sorry but that is just down right disgusting. I avoided the licker at all costs.

I get to arrange the product in the bags the way I want them. Many times baggers just crush things or mix the wrong things together causing a myriad of issues later on. At other times I end up getting home to find my can of mushrooms has disappeared and found a nice dark hole to live in. Things wont disappear if I am the only one dealing with it.

Also I make sure I arrange my receipt with my food first and then add the household items last so they are all together and it is easy for me to do my later calculation with Quicken. In the past every thing was mixed up and I had to go through the whole receipt and figure out what each item was, some times weeks later when I am entering data and confirming. Now it is in the order I choose. I like organization.

Using this scanner I can just go to the self checkout aisle, usually empty, and no matter how much food I have in the basket be through in about one minute or less. Not to mention it is the self checkout aisles where I find most of my loose change on the floor for DTAMP.

Plus I get all kinds of free coupons. I just got one for free $5.00 off my next purchase. Plus some other good ones.

I love being able to check unknown prices on things as I go along. I just scan it in then delete it if I don't want it, but I am 100% certain what the price is.

It helps to manage my budget as I go through the store. I can be sure I am getting a sale price, etc.

It offers sales or specials every once in a while, with a Ka-Ching sound, which you get used to.

I use our own bags so I get $0.05 cents discount for each bag at the end of the final bill.

Thats some of the pros now the cons.

So far we haven't done what I would call a full basket. I see them all the time people go around the store and the basket is so full of stuff that things are falling off and rolling around on the floor. That could be a problem if you bag it as you go along.

My solution: The store needs a new basket for the new future. That design would need to be more of a three level jobber so you can bag it and slid it into one of the levels. Right now the baskets are one level with a rack on the bottom. Three smaller levels would work better.

One obvious con is privacy issues.

Apart from being one step closer to a life that is constantly monitored, recorded, analyzed, categorized, alphabetized, numberized, reviewed, evaluated, judged, approved, etc. , where we will all be under the watchful eye of the big brother, big mother or some other big human body part. Which by the way I reject being Iconoclastic. Let them keep their big body parts to themselves. They know everything you buy and they keep track of it so they can offer you discounts and specials based upon what you have purchased in the past.

If you used a card at the checkout they have been probably keeping track of it for some time.

Here is a suggestion I will be making to Stop & Shop Management and Owners:

Since all this data is being collected, make it available to the customer.

Provide an online account that I can go to and download the data of my shopping to my computer. This way I will not have to input things manually. I can use this data in a spreadsheet or a specially designed program that enables me to track my purchases, costs and manage my budget even better.

It is easy enough to do, banks do it, credit card companies etc. I download data from many sources to my Quicken. This would be one more. It would help me to micro manage what exactly I am buying. Food happens to be my highest cost, even beyond property taxes and heating oil. Yet it is the one I have the least access to the data to.

I would be able to track patterns, see where waste is and easily see what I have a tendency to buy so I can find coupons, look for cheaper prices, you know, like manage it. Please give me the data that my scanner and your computers so happily accumulate.

I would have an ID and Password, enter online and download. It would make me very happy.

What do you think Stop & Shop, Quicken? Come On, let me have my data.

The first thing that comes to people's mind is, what stops someone from cheating/stealing.

Well, some people will get away with it, but as I mentioned above, you are being watched. If you go to the checkout with a basket full and you come up with $25.99, then red flags are going to go off. If you behave oddly the camera's will be watching. Plus you may be subject to a random audit from time to time.

If you get caught, your name will be mudd. You will go on the record and eventually every store everywhere will know you are a thief. Don't believe for a minute that it won't go on your record.

One of the store's people told me the story of someone recently getting through with "Free" stuff. They missed him at the checkout but one of the store's cameras beamed in on his license plate, later the police showed up at his home.

You need to use your store card to get access to a scanner so you are matched up. Don't try to take the scanner. :)

Anyways it is better to be honest, upright and honorable. The other way just takes to much energy expenditure always looking over your shoulder.

Ok, so getting to "What Are the Odds?"

I wanted one of those Kellogg's Star Trek Badges found in specially marked packages.

The thing is the boxes are not specifically, specially marked. Meaning, I wanted the Command badge, with the star on it. Remember, I wanted to be a Captain. So I had to pick a box of Frosted Flakes that had that one in it. I would look at the boxes, into the eyes of Tony the Tiger in the hopes the shadowy secret would manifest itself. When that didn't work, I guessed.

The odds were against me of picking the right one.

I will let the following picture reveal if I beat the odds.

For DTAMP, April may have proven, though not verified, that I have reached my limit with an unspecified, un-named advertising source of revenue.

I got out of the bad DTAMP Annaly Capital (NLY) trade I was in. I did manage to take a profit.

It ended up being sold in After Hours Trading. The Market had been closed for about 19 minutes when I put the order to sell in. It sold at $14.19 . If I had waited a bit longer I might have gotten about $14.40. I ended up selling another stuck trade at that price. So today I managed to get out of 4 trades I had been in.

I had never used after hours trading before. But the stock had popped up after the market closed due to an announcement. So I put the limit order in just to see if it would sell.

Annaly Capital posts higher Q1 profit

April 29 (Reuters) - Annaly Capital Management Inc (NLY.N) posted a 44 percent rise in net profit in the first quarter, helped by higher net interest income and lower interest expense.

Although it was only $20.87 I consider that good. I had gotten into this trade on a bad note, when that certified letter had come, distracting me, and I am glad I was able to clear the board today so I can get a fresh start.

Xin's Response: The inner voice is always correct. Whenever there is a problem it is my response to it. Although this has nothing to do with the inner voice, each stock has a personality, it has it's moods, it's behavioral patterns.

When you find a stock or type of stocks that match your personality, not identical, but rather a match and you are able to get to know it, you feel it's desires, wants and determinations.

Xin's Response: Presently, I am not doing any stop-loss scenario and I am willing, although I would not be very happy about it, waiting long term until the trade returns to a profitable mode. If it is long enough there may also be dividends made in that time period.

Xin's Response: I am finding that consistent winnings increases my confidence and comfortableness with what I am trading. Random rewards is iffy and there is no level of certainty. Although I am not 100% certain with the stock trades, I am finding the longer I do the correct thing (i.e. obey the inner voice), the more successful I am finding I am. I agree that trading stock is highly risky.

Everything has it's degree of risk, or gambling temperature. Crossing the street on my home's dirt road is far less risky then crossing the street in downtown Manhattan. I prefer to use the word speculation when trading stock as opposed to flat out gambling.

Xin's Response: Actually, the wins haven't been big, but rather many small ones that when added together begin to accumulate surprisingly quickly. I do not feel comfortable revealing the results of my personal accounts on the internet.

Xin's Response: The thing with DTAMP is the plan reveals itself as progress is made. I do not know what the plan is, but I am assured that the plan will make itself known, and has been all along the way. It may not have been what I wanted, it may not have been glamorous or exciting or tremendously profitable, but it was alway what I needed to accomplish the present step. Regarding starting a business, perhaps that may occur.

I have tried starting businesses all my life since I was 16 years old, it never seemed to work for me. Something would always come along and totally destroy everything I managed to build. I would start over and again and again, destruction in one form or another.

Finally after 34 year I decided to stop. Instead I took another avenue. The Double Your Way To A Million Boulevard. It meant no preconceived ideas, not looking into the future, not trying to figure anything out. Just going with the flow. I am alot happier doing it this way. Will I make it to the million? Who knows. I am only concerned about Step 20 at this point.

Anonymous said... rather than "grind out" your returns, you might consider other "investments" that might take a lot longer to plan and a lot longer to complete, but should prove to have better ROI. they also, might prove to take less time as it seems grinding away in the mkt takes time to actually double ones original stake.

Xin's Response: Perhaps in time the longer term plans may come into effect. I am open to it. At this point grinding away at the stocks is what is working and what I feel is the correct thing for me. When it comes time to do something different it will make itself known and hopefully I will see it and be able to begin working on it. I do not mind taking the time to trade and I am happy with whatever it gives me. I am content.

The Klingons and Romulans never really got along and this little Galactic incident isn't going to make things any better.

You see my wife gets the Better Homes and Gardens magazine and I happen to be sitting around and picked it up to entertain myself. I opened to the inside back cover of the May 2009 Issue and was surprised at what I saw.

Kellogg's had a full page advertisement for their cereal and especially for what you would find inside the box of specially marked packages.

In wonderful living color Star Trek Beam up Badges lit up the page with Tony the Tiger's hand held in the familiar split fingers Vulcan hand sign, the connotation being "Live Long and Prosper".

Neat, I thought, as my old Star Trek memories came flooding back. I gotta get me some of those. But it was going to be hard seeing I am lactose intolerant (can't drink milk) and allergic to sugar (Frosted Flakes has a heap of sugar). So eating cereal is a real risk, but I will do it anyways just to get some of those stinkin badges.

But then I noticed "It" at least unconsciously, in the back of my mind "something" was saying there is "something" desperately wrong here. After studying it and the nagging feeling that "something" wasn't quite right continued, it began to make its way into my conscious mind.

They had it wrong. Someone had labeled the Klingon badge as being the Romulan and the Romulan Badge as being Klingon. Ohhhhhhh Myyyyy.

Wow, I thought, I wonder if I am the only one that has caught this faux pas. This is not going to help diplomatic relations or galactic peace between the Klingons and the Romulans.

As a side note, that really has nothing to do with Klingon Shakespeare ("Shakespeare is good in English, but you need to read him in the original Klingon ...") or Romulan Ale, one of my favorite errors regarding the use of the Klingon language is Frasier at Freddie's Bar Mitzvah.

I did take my wife out for the Chinese Dinner to celebrate going from Step 19 to Step 20 and use the $35.10 that was an overage in that transition. Total cost was $35.83 with Tip. The meal was great, we had General Gao's Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, Chicken Fingers, Chicken Teriyaki, Pork Lo Mein and Wonton and Hot and Sour Soup, oh yes and that great tea.

Although it was expensive we did get about 6 meals out of it for left overs, so each meal cost about $5.97 each. I tend to be frugal even when splurging.

I forgot to bring home my fortune from the fortune cookie but it was relevant to my present situation, as it usually is.

I haven't made any money for DTAMP. I am in another trade with NLY and at one point I was up around $60.00 but didn't take it. I had gotten a certified letter that day with typically disturbing news and this threw me and I started to mess up with trading.

I ended up getting stuck in two trade, one personal, that has been a going badly as well.

When trading one must seclude themself from outside stimuli. Distractions and troubles will foul you up. The problem is trouble seems to track you down, it is very rude and obnoxious. The worst possible thing that can happen seems to always happen at the worst possible time. You can almost count on it.

So the latest Doubling Trade is holding me up. I almost got out on Friday when there was about $7.00 profit but I decided to hold it in case it shot up. Instead it collapsed.

Lets see how next week goes for it.

Whew! That was a rough trade. But it all came out in the wash.

DTAMP Equities Plan Report:

The last hour and half went up like a rocket and reached where I had a feeling it would, $14.35

Actually it went past it and nearly reached $14.50, but I was happy to get out where I did.

I didn't make much, only $5.87 but a profit is always better than a loss.

It has been a rough week while in this trade. I was in 4 other NLY trades in other accounts at the same time. Other personal issues were causing me problems this week and then Google stopped my Blog because some kind of fuzzy robot decided that my site was a spam site.

The last thing you need is external pressure when you are in a trade.

To top it all off I didn't listen to my I.V. (inner voice). My I.V. said that on the 14th NLY would drop to around the $13.60's and guess what I didn't listen and bamm I was knocked on my buttocks. I bought 182 shares of NLY at around $14.2190 and it kept dropping after an hour or so until reaching a low of $13.65.

Just for the record I did learn my lesson and bought more at $13.73 but not for DTAMP.

So I was stuck, but I felt that it would go up the next day and would hold on. My wife asked me what my I.V. was telling me this morning before the market opened and I told her that it would go up. She asked me how high and I told her that I felt it would hit $14.35 and that is where I would get out. (It turned out it went even higher.)

But despite that all it still is wicked hard to sit there hour after hour as it does crazy things, many times nothing like you wish it would. But in the end the I.V. is always right. It is just me that is wrong.

I wanted to try to address comments and questions to the previous blog post:

if i understand the math correctly you put the majority of the stake into NLY. from other posts it appears you are day trading.my question is, is this "risk adverse" investing?

Yes, I am making a trade with the entire amount of the stake, at least what I can do while paying commission and making sure I do not use margin. In most cases it turns out to be day trading or at least several days, as long as I do not get trapped in the trade.

For most people this would be risk adverse investing. But for me this has been the safest thing I have found to do. I like to stay out of the market with the majority of my money and only go in for a short period of time. I would call it "strategic trading" as opposed to investing. When I think of investing I think more long term. I do not do well with long term.

A short trade is usually more succesful for me. Sometimes I will try to get in longer but my personality usually forces me out before I get to benefit. I almost bought Citi at a $1.01 a share. Within a week it was over $3.00 a share. I made the choice not to because I thought the trade would be longer term. My I.V. was saying otherwise. Oh, when will I listen.

I have found that trading NLY or MFA has been one of the safest things I have done in all the decades I have attempted to be successful in the stock, commodities, forex or any markets. I found my niche and I just repeat it over and over.

Since 8/24/2008 I have made 56 trades in NLY and MFA and had one loss. A small one that had I held it would have made a profit anyways but I wanted to stop waisting time with it and I came back and made another trade and made it back 2x.

For me trading NLY has been one of the most stable and consistent things I have ever done in the markets.

also, a quick glance at NLY, it appears they might not keep their high yield div for very long and if you are in NLY and the div gets cut, you might suffer a further loss. i'm sure your due diligence is far better than mine, but i thought i'd throw that out there. of course there could be other factors that could move a stock.

At the present time NLY is paying about 16% for its dividend, which is nice. MFA is about 20%. At least the last time I looked. This gives me another fallback on my trading. It gives me the confidence that even if I really screw up and make an atrocious trade I can wait and eventually make money on the dividends.

How long those high dividends will last I am not certain. But even if the dividend drops to 5 % it still would be fine with me.

As far as loss suffered due to dividend cut from a drop in the price of the stock, this is why I don't want to really stay in long if I can. I like to make a strategic attack, get in, get out, take profit and then run away. Especially on Fridays so I have my weekends without any stress from being in a trade.

The thing I like about NLY or MFA or a few other REITs is that they are fairly stable and don't rise and fall much but still have enough volatility for me to get in and out. Even in a day to make a good profit. Though I must say that trading a small amount like $2600.00 makes the trading very difficult, especially when you have an $18.00 commission. You have to do it right to win.

1 - i was going to ask your opinion on using a small portion of the stake and speculating it on riskier stocks. sitting in them ( longer term ) until a high ROI or nothing. rinse and repeat. assuming a higher failure rate, the "winners" would have to cover all the failures. in this economy bank and car stocks might even fit the bill, but they weren't my first thought.

I tried that method with penny stocks and even TMA and I got nailed. However, if you are fortunate enough to be able to find that high producer before you run out of money then it might work. But it would be high risk, almost gambling. When I played the CNBC Stock game last year I did what you suggest with GM and made alot of money. Nothing in comparison with the winners of the game though.

I also did it with TMA and won, then lost. Then stopped. It can be very stressful to lose in a trade. It does damage to your emotions, your nerve. Then you trade from a defeated position. I have found that the more I win the more I win. Success leads to success because confidence is like a seed. Once you get it growing, the more you nuture it, the more it yields. Hacking its branches back everyday, will only hurt the thing.

Making 56 trades with only one loss makes for building confidence. Mostly confidence in your I.V. (inner voice). I used to make 56 trades and I would be lucky to make money on two trades. Failure lead to failure. I lost alot.

Becareful to not damage and wound yourself with risking getting losses. No matter what people say every loss will wound and enough of them and you will die (stop trading). I am heavily wounded and should have stopped along time ago. I persevered, probably because I didn't know better. I knew that one day I would find my place, my niche, that thing that was mine, that worked for me, my Ace in Hole. It took decades.

2 - in the case of limiting risk, have you ever tried using options to limit any downside in a stock investment?

In the past I have used options. Using them to limit downside sounds like a good idea, but like anything, you will pay for that insurance and security. One of the biggest losses in my life came from options back in 2006. Granted it wasn't the same scenario as you are mentioning. If using the option approach will help lead you to consistent winning trade then it will be worth paying for them. I have heard that selling the options is very profitable but I haven't used options much.

3 - in one month's time will your household have less debt? could the household then become a customer of your financial advice thus increasing the stake's income?

Fortunately I vowed many years ago to do everything I could to get out of debt. It was the smartest things I managed to do, especially with the economic disaster that has come. I have been following the rules of Doubling the best I can and I have sacrificed alot of money that could have been added to my stake, in the area of thousands and thousands of dollars. I would consider increasing my stake based on my own personal estate management and household off limits to my DTAMP stake.

I don't want to pollute it. I have come close to dirtying it a bit when I had the stake in the same account as my personal funds. But I felt uncomfortable with that and seperated the stake out completely.

As of right now I am in a lousy trade with the DTAMP stake. I bought 182 shares of NLY at $14.219 and it has dropped to $13.96 so I am sitting on a loss of around $66.00 with the commission. So there is nothing good to report with that situation.

I received ($25.00) today from a Benefactor that I have been assisting with guidance and advice regarding their finances. So that has helped the stake a bit.

I found some change on the ground since my last post.

So far since ending Step 19 I have made around 5.25% of Step 20, only 94.75% left to go.

I have been keeping track of how much I have made trading the DTAMP funds since moving the funds into the new brokerage and making the first trade on March 23rd, 2009. From a percentage stand point it has been 7.14242% gained.

When I finished Step 19 I had a surplus of $35.10 and will be taking my wife out for a chinese dinner to celebrate the completion of the step and also to celebrate the "One Month Remaining Mark" for a major painful problem in our lives. I have been counting down the years, months, now days!!!! I can hardly believe that freedom is so short a time away.

Made a trade with MFA this week.

I bought it on the Ex-Dividend date, so I missed getting the dividend.

In order to get a dividend you need to purchase the equity the day before the ex-dividend date, at the very minimum, so that you will be on record with the company.

However, their is a risk in doing this. MFA closed at $5.93 on the day before ex-dividend, the next day it opened at $5.71 due to the fact people are selling off after securing the dividend.

Stock usually drop on the ex-dividend date to compensate for the dividend that was paid. I have only begun to study this, dividend aspect of things, and so do not have much collective experiential knowledge regarding how the stocks tend to perform prior to, on and after the ex-dividend date.

Here are the results of the trade I made for DTAMP.

First the Good News. I made another successful trade with the DTAMP funds. Although I am struggling to make much it helps to add the small amounts I am able to get.

Trading is hard, at least for me. I have had a migraine for three days now. It could just be the weather though.

The DTAMP funds are up 6.14143% this year for trading.

The bad news is I was deprived some money I had earned.

Sometime back in October of 2008 I had gotten a sale from Megasteps for $8.61 .

MegaSteps used to use PayPal to pay you your commissions, which was working good for me. But they had switched to Clickbank and they have some kind of distribution requirement that says you cannot get any money until you have $10.00 in your account.

So I kept hoping for another sale but it didn't come. I checked my account recently and found that they have been pulling a dollar fee every two weeks since January and now I have almost nothing left. They call this a dormant account fee or something like that. I call it theft.

I don't care if it is policy or not! To take someone's money while giving them no options to choose to get the funds out is nothing short of thievery. Its crooked, unethical and probably illegal.

Imagine if your bank made a policy that said if you have money in their bank and you had less then $10.00 in your account and because it was less than $10.00 you could not take it out and then they started to put fees on those funds, diminishing it to nothing. I guarantee there would be legal action taken by someone.

If they had given me a chance to pull the funds I would have. Sending me an ACH to my bank account wouldn't have been difficult. I could see if the funds had been dormant for several years and they had sent an email that got no reply, but to have a policy that just takes the money after a short time, less than three months, is nothing short of criminal.

Eventually these kinds of theft will be dealt with. For the owners of Clickbank.....every dog has his day.

Step 19 is Completed!!!!

It has been a long and tedious step but it has been worth it as it brings the stake up to $2560.00

I hardly believe it actually is over and I can move onto Step 20. Only 9 more Steps to go.

It took 372 days to complete Step 19 and so far the entire experiment has been going on for 966 days.

Here is the scenario that was the final action in completing Step 19.

I made another trade with the DTAMP funds yesterday at the end of the day when MFA dropped and sold it today.

There were times I contemplated stopping but I kept coming back to the fact that if I just keep plugging away at it no matter how small a gain, eventually I will reach the final goal.

I see myself in front of this humungous boulder, and I have a hammer and I keep hitting the boulder, over and over, day in and day out. Eventually, maybe even in my lifetime, I will reduce that boulder to dust. If I don't give up.

I am closing in on Step 20 fairly rapidly now. Just $14.47 away from making it.

I did not make it by the one year date I had hoped for. Changing brokerage firms slowed me down a bit and sources of income have been hard to come by.

But I did get the new brokerage situation completed and made the first trade.

There has also been an accounting error that has taken place. I forgot to enter a $25.00 gift that was received on February 26th, 2009. That error has been corrected and it has pushed up the amount of the stake.

How To Double Your Way To A Million In 28 Steps

FINALLY!

I mentioned that a neighborhood dog has been a problem in my last post. I have been suffering with it since early spring of 2008 on an almost daily basis. Eventually a number of people became involved, neighbors, the Authorities, etc. Still nothing worked.

Eventually, I took additional steps and about the time I wrote the last post, suddenly the howling stopped and the dog was no longer seen around.

I have not heard the dog since. The word is the neighbor was finally convinced to keep the dog under control and with the use of a simple device, a citronella barking control collar, the dog stopped. Although the Animal Control Officer tried to get them to use one several months ago, they refused at the time, even though the ACO would have given it to them for free, they were finally convinced to use one and it worked like a charm.

The dog barked once with it and that was it, never again. So I am happy to report that sanity has once again returned to my life. Peace and Quiet! The Devil Dog is no longer haunting me.

Should it return to its old pranks and shenanigans I will be able to call the Animal Control Officer and she should be able to do something. It looks like because of my problem the authorities will be attempting to get some by-laws passed in the town to restrict dog barking. At the present time there are no restrictions on it.

Just to give you an idea: A picture is worth a thousand howls.

At the present there is still nothing significant to report for DTAMP funds income.

I have been in the process of moving the DTAMP funds to a different brokerage firm, to make it easier to use when I am doing my own personally trading. Having to jump from one brokerage firm to another while trading has proven to be a nuisance. The commission will be higher moving it, but I believe that the ease of use will compensate for that problem. At least I hope it will.

It is true, "I have not yet begun to quit."

Since my last post I have considered it but only for brief moments.

The winter has been difficult. The horrific Ice Storm of 2008 has left a lasting impression, as it caused ice dams on my roof, which caused water to backup under shingles and anywhere it could and leaked into the house damaging three upstairs rooms.

The insurance company said many people had damage like this, this year. The people I hired to clear the ice dam said that there was more water on my roof then any they had done and they had done a lot. So I am comforted that with a huge amount of water on the roof only a small portion made it in the house and the damage was minimal. It could have been a lot worse.

I have been plugging away at raising the DTAMP stake though there have been some delays and income has diminished a bit.

In addition to the troubles mentioned I am being terrorized by a neighbor's dog. The dog is a howler and has been driving me crazy coming over and howling for hours as well as howling from it's own yard which is plenty close enough to penetrate my home like a laser beam through soft cheese.

The neighbor either cannot understand or does not care how traumatizing this has been for me. Some things just add up until you begin suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Nightmares, heightened anxiety waiting for the next howl, frustration, anger and a many other things begin to take over your life when something is terrorizing and torturing you, like chinese water torture, drip, drip, drip.

I have gone through all the proper channels and made attempts to resolve this peaceably but so far the dog is still living there. Now don't get me wrong I love dogs and dogs love me. But this dog is possessed or something. > :>

First, there was Bigfoot and then the Loch Ness Monster now The Devil Dog of Lake Watatic.

People of America, People of the World, I implore you, be very aware of the torment your dogs can inflict on your neighbors. Open your eyes and ears to what your Fido can do, when it does do, the things it does. Your neighbors are people too. They do feel pain. They suffer in silence while your pets, perpetually pester, persecute, and perplex them with their barking, howling, defecating and harassments of every sort. Try not to be so self absorbed that you think that your lovely little pup is not the 'Dennis The Menace' of your neighborhood. Put yourself in your neighbor's shoes and think about what the meaning of "Have Mercy" might mean.

Oddly enough the Devil Dog's name is 'Liberty' and since moving here it has been the only one to enjoy freedom of any kind. The rest of the neighborhood has to wonder if it is worth going out to get the mail anymore.

I missed the good move by not holding that last trade in UCO (Oil) until friday(23rd) as it went up to $13.31 . I had a feeling it was going to break upward soon but I was suffering from a migraine on thursday and decided to sit friday out because I wasn't feeling well. Turns out friday was the day it decided to go higher.

The beautiful thing about it all is there will always be another opportunity coming along later on down the line so there is no need to fret about losing out on this one.

In addition I found ($0.03) on the floor at Burger King. It would have been more as I spotted about ($0.09) on the counter and asked the cashier about it but he took it instead of letting me have it. You can't win them all.

At the present time I am $139.50 away from completing Step 19.
