I am a big fan of Andrea Bocelli and just purchased and listened to this CD. I was disappointed because the delivery of all the songs sounded so similar. It was like listening to his aria style voice on songs that should have been developed to be more upbeat. He is a fabulous singer, I will still purchase his music, but I will stick with the kind of music that he does best: Italian style arias. Somehow, a slow version of Santa Claus is coming to town just doesn't cut it. Everything sounded alike to me. Same speed, same drama and crescendo's.. just not quite right for some of the songs though. You might like it though. Get more detail about My Christmas.

I had heard the Gossip's new album would be fused with a bit more dance beats than the last full lenghted album ('Standing in the Way Of Control') so I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about 'Music For Men', but as it turns out there was nothing to worry. The new Gossip album is just as great, if not slightly more exciting than the last one.

Opening number 'Dimestore Diamond' is old school Gossip while the first single "Heavy Cross" features a little more dance beats than the band has used in the stand, still it's a great track.

The 1962 "The Music Man" is still my favorte musical after all these years. I saw the movie when it hit the Screen in 1962. This Special Edition CD is excellent. For a movie dating back to 1962 you would think the sound would be a bit off. Not so in this case - the quality is better than expected. When my son was 6 weeks old we tried everything to help him sleep. My favorite book suggested playing a cd EVERYTIME he went to sleep. We tried several different ones from a women singing lullabies (Husband said get rid of it) to the rainforest nature sounds. This is the one we stuck with. This CD is a compilation of music by various artists. Unfortunately ,when I burn it into Itunes it lists Eckhart Tolle as the Artist. That said, the CD contains some good selections. The track, "Structure from Silence (Structures from Silence) is a new age classic from Steve Roach. I would highly recommend buying this cd on its own merits. My favorite track, though, is "Now is Forever" by Kip Mazuy. I'm not a New Age kind of guy but this track is one of my favorite discoveries of the year. The first five albums of Roxy Music are lush and sexy. The heart and soul of the band were really explored in these first five: Roxy Music, For your Pleasure, Country Life, Stranded and Siren. Bryan Ferry was at his best with most of the original band members. That's because they helped his natural tenancies towards softness become more firm in a way that was lacking in later albums, when most of the original members were no longer around. This is not only my favorite music by Steve Reich but one of my favorite modern classical albums. Next to Songs From The Trilogy by Philip Glass, Farewell To Philosophy by Gavin Bryars, Symphony Of Sorrowfull Songs by Henryk Gorecki or Tabula Rasa by Arvo Part. Out of all these albums Music For 18 Musicians is of the highest energy and tempo. This music evolves and takes you in. It makes you feel like you are riding a fast and steady moving train through an amazing landscape you seem to be very familiar with after a while. It may feel a little monothonic but these are the rides which allow you to focus on your own real trip so you let the train just take you... I can listen to this music over and over all day; I really like repetitive elements. Good balanced life seems to me to be full of them. If we could just eliminate mistakes... Most of Steve Reich's music is very good and original. My next recommendation would be Different Trains, which is an even more modern approach.

Cheap Sesame Street - Let's Make Music

My three year old daughter has a fondness for all things musical, but seeing as to how she has a spectrum disorder, I never know what she'll like or dislike -- even when it has a musical theme. I learned the hard way that it would be better for me to borrow movies from Netflix and test them out on her before purchasing them. I did exactly that and now I'm here on Amazon to purchase "Let's Make Music". At first, DD didn't like the large amounts of dialogue compared to other Sesame Street videos such as Kids' Favorite Songs or Sing Yourself Silly!.

But she loved seeing her favorite characters create music out of items that she could imitate right at home (like Bert's song about an Oatmeal box). She also is a big fan of the Pinball machine song by the Pointer Sisters -- those of you who are my age or older will remember it fondly too.

The only thing I disliked about it was that the ending came sort of abruptly or it was sorta of anti-climatic. The grand performance at the end wasn't exactly grand. But it's my daughter's opinion that matters and she'd give it 5 stars.Get more detail about Sesame Street - Let's Make Music.
