LG  has been showing off a new Windows Phone publicly at IFA, the Optimus 7, which  uses DLNA to shunt media from the device to home entertainment over the local Wi-Fi network with simple swipe gestures. We’ve seen this  thing  pretty  regularly  as the GW910 Panther since its first appearance on the Engadget Show about 6 months ago, but the DLNA feature is definitely new. LG’s other Windows Phones will include the E900, C900, and E720, though they’re certainly still interested in Android.

If this is in fact the GW910, you can count on it having a 1 GHz processor, 8 GB of on-board storage memory, GPS, Wi-Fi, a 5 megapixel camera, and will likely be coming to AT&T sometime “early fourth quarter”.  The Optimus 7 has so far been the flagship device for Windows Phone 7, but it won’t be the only one helping Microsoft restart their mobile platform. DLNA is definitely cool, but people replace their home entertainment systems way less frequently than their cell phones; it’ll probably be awhile before DLNA becomes a real attraction for most shoppers.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz just recieved a new firmware update. You can download the R2ea023 firmware via the SEUS app (check out the instructions below). Note that it may take some time for the new firmware version to be released in your country (depending on your phones product code). Changelog after the break.

How to update:

• go to SEUS download page

• download the file

• install it on your computer

• restart your machines (both computer and phone) –>for fon remove your battery and reinsert  it. DO NOT turn it on..

• plz make sure u have a good internet connection 1st before u proceed with the next step.

• run SEUS on your computer and follow SEUS instructions and requirements.

This application lets you download YouTube videos by making use of the share function of the YouTube Application for Android. Just hit menu, share and select “YouTube Ripper” as seen in the first screenshot. Keep the Youtube Ripper Window open if the downloads stop when you close it.

According to the Finish newspaper Kauppalehti, Tapani Kaskinen (Nokias Senior Comms Manager) said today that the Nokia N8 will launch in September 30.

The guys at pocketnow takes a look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10s hardware. The 4? capacitive touch screen makes navigation through the user interface a breeze. 4? seems to be a very happy medium in terms of screen size-it’s not too small and difficult to use and it’s not too large and hard to hold. Powered by a 1GHz processor the X10 stays current with its competition and shows little to no slowdown. The X10 comes packed with a 1500mAh battery that Sony claims provides 8-hours of talk time to the user.

iOS 4.1 Release Date – September 8

Over the past weekend, the Apple site in the UK briefly mentioned that the iOS 4.1 release date would be September 8 which puts it at this Wednesday. Shortly after though the date was pulled with a Coming Soon message being in place.

It isn’t clear if you’ll be able to grab the new update this Wednesday. If not then it will be sometime this week at lease as Steve Jobs confirmed it at the Apple [AAPL] event held last week.

New features in the iOS 4.1 update include Game Center, new iTunes features as well as HDR photography. A few other features are also included in the update.

Sharp is launching a number of devices with glasses free 3D screens over the next few months. The new range of concept products had screens ranging from 3 inches to 10 inches in size.

One particular was the mobile phone pictured above that has a 3D screen on the front as well as a couple of cameras on the back allowing it to capture 3D images whilst on the move.

It is expected that the screen will work like those of the Nintendo 3DS which requires users hold the device in a certain place in front of them to get the 3D effect to be visible.

Two other devices were also mentioned with one being a 3.8 inch screened device and another having a screen 10.1 inches in size.
