If you are living in Downtown Austin, it is imperative that you check out some of the great happy hours in the area. On any given day, Monday through Sunday, restaurants and bars hold specials on their drinks and food that are too good to pass up.

For example, Moonshine Patio Bar and Grill is home to one of the coolest atmospheres and hippest happy hours. Located at 7^th and Red River, this Southwestern style restaurant serves some of the best dishes and drinks, such as the corndog shrimps with blueberry Dijon mustard or the Harvest Moon Tea (similar to a long island iced tea but with cranberry juice!). During happy hour (Monday through Friday from 4 to 6:30), these drinks are only $4 and all the delectable appetizers are half off.

Pet Friendly Austin

Austin may be the most pet-friendly city in Texas. With all the spacious off-leash dog parks, pet-friendly restaurant patios & the Lady Bird Lake hike & bike trails in Central Austin, your pet can practically go anywhere with you. I'm personally a pet owner and regular user of Austin's public dog parks. My personal favorites include, Red Bud Isle, Auditorium Shores, Zilker and West Austin Park in the Clarksville neighborhood.

Downtown Austin is Growing Up

If you have driven through Downtown Austin in the past year, then you have undoubtedly noticed all the new high rises being built. It has been the talk of the town for the past year, making front page headlines of the Austin American Statesman and featured on countless local news stations.

Some Austinites criticize these high-rises for changing the city's atmosphere. I could not disagree more. In my opinion, it attracts an entirely new group of people that previously may not have had an interest in Austin.

Furthermore, these high rises are not exclusive to simply one type of person. Working as an apartment locator for the past 3 years, I have spent a good deal of time at all the apartments in Downtown Austin. In my experience, the high rises often attract the widest variety of residents. For example, The Monarch, the first high rise to immerse itself in Austin, is home to an incredibly diverse group of residents. If you sit at the door for 10 minutes during a busy time of day, you will see people from all walks of life come in and out of their apartment homes.

Since The Monarch opened, several other high rises have popped up, including Amli on 2nd, Legacy on the Lake, 21 Rio and The Ashton.
