Though most coffee drinkers know a lot about the coffee bean including which beans provide the best taste and how best to roast and grind them, there are nevertheless a few interesting facts about the coffee bean that not everyone knows about. For example, you may not know which the largest coffee bean is and in fact it is a certain variety of Arabica bean species known as the Nicaragua Maragogipe.

Good Conditions To Grow The Beans

Another interesting fact related to the coffee bean is that for the beans to be at their best requires that they get the right amount of sun, shade, rain and they should also be grown in the proper climatic conditions. Furthermore, for those of you that believe that the coffee bean is native to Costa Rica you will have to admit that this is not so because the beans were introduced to that country in the year 1799 by a Spanish traveler known as Navarr.

Strangely enough, the coffee bean is not in fact a bean at all and they also do not belong to the legume family either but are pits that are generally found in the coffee berry. Furthermore, the coffee bean is graded in a number of different ways. For example, beans that come from Columbia are graded as Supremo and Excelso and Extra as well as Pasilla.

On the other hand, the coffee bean from Kenya is graded according to letter combinations such as AA, PB, AB, E, C and TT and also T and these grades refer to the bean’s size and shape and also density of the bean. Size is an important consideration when evaluating a coffee bean because the larger the size is the more oil it will contain and this helps to make the coffee tastier.

Even in these modern times it is still very common to find the coffee berries being picked by hand and a typical coffee worker will be able to pick from hundred to two hundred pounds of coffee berries in a single day. Finally, an acre of coffee will provide you about ten thousand pounds of coffee berries that works out to about two thousand pounds of coffee beans.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Company (also referred to as The Coffee Bean) is based in Los Angeles, California and is a coffee chain that is owned by as well as operated by the company known as Coffee & Tea LLC. Recently, in the month of September, 2008 The Coffee Bean had celebrated its forty-fifth anniversary.

If an individual wants to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee, there is one important element that needs to be factored into this equation. That critical element is that whole coffee beans need to be freshly ground so that the coffee being released is at its freshness and full flavor.

Therefore, the best way to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee is through the use of a manual or electric coffee grinder. The end result is freshly ground coffee beans ready to provide that perfect cup of coffee.

Consequently, if looking for a coffee grinder, there are a number of available choices for the coffee connoisseur. Those coffee grinder choices include the use of an electric grinder, manual grinder and a combination coffee maker with grinder.

Electric Grinder

An electric coffee grinder is an electrical kitchen tool that is utilized to grind the whole coffee beans so that the end result is that the coffee flakes can be utilized to provide a good cup or pot of coffee. Specifically, there are many types of electric grinders on the market.

One of the simplest forms of electric coffee trader is one that utilizes steel blades to grind the whole coffee beans. All the individual needs to do is pour the appropriate amount of coffee beans into the top of the apparatus and replace the lid. Once this has been accomplished then a button is depressed and the coffee beans are grounded.Once this has been accomplished then the ground-up coffee beans are put into the coffee pot according to the coffee brewing instructions.

Hand Coffee Grinder

Another type of grinder is the grinder that is powered manually. The exact process takes place with the exception that the grinding is accomplished as the individual turns the handle which moves the grinding burr system over the coffee bean and eventually producing the coffee grounds.

Additionally, the coffee grounds are eventually captured in a drawer beneath the bowl apparatus that grinds the coffee grounds. Following this process the drawer is then removed from the hand coffee grinder and the grounds are then placed into the coffeemaker.

Combination Coffee Maker With Grinder

One kitchen appliance that may be used to make a fresh cup of coffee is a combination of coffee maker with grinder. Specifically, a coffee maker with grinder is a convenient appliance in which the coffee maker and grinder are combined into one unit.

Therefore, all the individual needs to do is open up the grinder portion of the appliance and put in the appropriate amount of whole beans. The grinder is then activated and once completed, the coffee maker is activated. All of this can be accomplished together or the grinding and making of coffee can be done separately.

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Company that is sometimes also referred to as The Coffee Bean is a company based in Los Angeles, California. The International Coffee & Tea, LLC owns and operates the coffee chain called The Coffee Bean And Tea Leaf Company and in fact, the first Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf store opened in Los Angeles in the year 1963 and the company’s founder were Mona Hyman and Herbert Hyman. Now, the company can boast of having been in operation for more than forty-five years and it has outlets beyond Los Angeles with the addition of various outlets in Phoenix, San Francisco and Las Vegas as too Honolulu and in the rest of Southern California. In fact, there are even some Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf franchises in Southeast Asia and in Hawaii as well.

They Have Wi-Fi Access

Most Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf outlets offer Wi-Fi access and of course the company has also gone international and has presence in countries such as Qatar, China, Israel, Singapore and Korea as well as in many other countries. Closer at home you can enjoy great coffee at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf kiosks that are present in many Ralphs’ supermarkets that dot the Southern California landscape.

Another feature about the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is that almost all of their products are certified as being kosher and some of their stores go a step further and meet standards related to cholov yisroel in many of their dairy products. This is perhaps why the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf has scored over Starbucks – at least in Israel. There are lots of notable campaigns that have been launched by the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf company including its Support From Home campaign.

This Support from Home campaign asks buyers to buy a bag of coffee or a tin of tea which is then to be donated to American troops that are based overseas. Another feature offered by the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf company in regard to this Support from Home campaign is the introduction of their special black label packaged coffee that allows consumers to add a personal message to send to the soldiers based overseas that would be receiving these bags of coffee.

Those coffee drinkers that are very selective about their coffee will generally choose to drink whole bean coffee. The reason for this preference is that such coffees are able to retain their freshness for longer periods of time and if you brew the coffee in the correct way the taste and flavor will be very hard to beat.

If an individual enjoys a flavorable cup of coffee during the course of the day, it is sometimes not easy to utilize one’s favorite coffee cup to enjoy this simple pleasure. Therefore an individual may want to use a paper coffee cup.

There are several advantages to utilizing a paper coffee cup rather than a regular or Styrofoam cup that can be used to place the coffee in.Therefore, it is crucial to know what is a paper coffee cup and what are some of the advantages of using this container to drink one’s coffee from.

What Is The Paper Coffee Cup?

Many individuals today, rather than through their own copy of home, choose to go to a specialty coffee shop and purchase their cup of coffee for their coffee break or for their morning commute. Specifically, some of these special coffee shops provide various flavored coffees, addition of various ingredients or just simply a plain good old-fashioned cup of coffee.

However, it is important to realize that when the individual purchases a couple coffee at their favorite coffee shop, that coffee may be placed into a paper coffee cup. Therefore, it is very important to be cognizant of the environment when an individual purchases a cup of coffee.

Specifically, in order to do one’s part for the preservation of the Earth’s environment, it is important to find out from the company what sort of materials are used to make the paper coffee cup and whether the cup is recyclable or not.

Benefits of Using a Paper Coffee Cup

There are several benefits associated with the use of paper coffee cup.One of those benefits is the convenience that the person enjoys when they purchase their coffee at a coffee shop along the way to their destination. Therefore, the person does not need to bring their own coffee mug or coffee container.

In addition, once the coffee has been drank then the disposable paper coffee cup can be disposed of properly in any waste receptacle. Additionally, if the paper coffee cup is recyclable then it can be included in a recyclable paper product container.

Another benefit of utilizing a paper coffee cup is that often the paper coffee cup can be surrounded by a coffee cup sleeve. This combination allows the individual to hold their coffee cup and not worry about the heat causing any discomfort to their hand.

However, it is important to note that there are a few disadvantages of utilizing a paper coffee cup. One of those disadvantages is that the individual will not be able to keep their coffee warm by using a coffee cup warmer. This is due to the fact that this electrical tool, to maintain the heat of one’s coffee, is not recommended when using a paper cup.

Many Americans would be lost without a cup of coffee when they wake up?

Coffee has a strong foothold in American culture. The vast majority of Americans enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings. The most typical kinds of coffee makers in the U.S. are drip coffee pots and coffee urns. Drip coffee makers function by having the water seap through the freshly ground coffee into the pot waiting below. Coffee urns, or sometimes referred to as a coffee pot boils the water into the ground coffee. Coffee urns have sometimes a more cooked flavor than a drip maker. Certain coffee drinking verterans find urns can sometimes give the coffee a burnt flavor, however.

One of the most popular brands of coffee in the United States is Gevalia coffee, which is owned by Kraft Foods. A Gevalia coffee pot can often be purchased for free or very cheaply, with coffee due to the many special offers Gevalia runs on a regular basis.

There are hundreds of coffee makers available for purchase on the consumer market today. They can range from $20 to as high as hundreds of dollars, depending upon on how fancy you want to get. They range from single cup coffee makers, which have become increasingly popular over the years, the standard 10-12 cup makers for families and the 30 cup brewers that businesses and commercial facilities use.

Most coffee makers sell the pots or karafes seperately in the event yours should break and need a replacement. Replacements can sometimes be purchased at the store or ordered online. Sometimes the cost of the replacement pot is equal to a new coffee maker.

In closing, Coffee pots come in all shapes and sizes and some even have differing methods of brewing which are unique to each brand and style.

Who doesn’t love a good cup of coffee? Good coffee can be made much better if you use a coffee grinder and crush the coffee beans yourself. This makes your coffee taste much fresher since the grounds have not been exposed to air for a long period which causes them to oxidize and become stale.

With coffee grinders, you can create enough coffee for what you are going to drink right away. In that way you can ensure you will always have the freshest coffee available.

When you buy ground coffee at the grocery store, it goes stale the longer you store it. It may even be stale by the time you buy it. You don’t have to worry about that when you buy whole coffee beans because the shell of the bean protects the freshness inside. So when you crush the beans with your coffee grinder, the freshness is released directly to your coffee.

There are three types of coffee grinders. They are the burr, the crusher, and the blade grinder. Of which our current favorite at the time of writing is the Solis Maestro Plus. Of course each grinder has its own advantages and disadvantages and can have an effect on the coffee you make.

The Blade Grinder

The most common coffee grinder is the blade grinder. It is the most popular because it is the least expensive and it produces grounds that make superior tasting coffee when compared to store bought grounds. These coffee grinders are also easy to clean and very durable.

Blade coffee grinders do have some drawbacks though. Due to the way they are constructed, they do not create a uniform consistency among the coffee grounds. They also do not produce a fine coffee ground. Because of this, a blade grinder cannot be used to grind coffee beans for espresso. The blades also create friction and heat that could be passed on to the coffee grounds and affect their flavor.

The Burr Grinder

There are two kinds of burr grinders, a flat coffee grinders and conical burr grinders. The flat wheel grinder spins at a high rate of speed and passes heat onto the coffee grounds and for this reason, it is not preferred.

Coffee lovers choose conical burr coffee grinders over other styles for a couple of reasons. For one, they spin very slowly and do not heat the grounds. And secondly, they create coffee grounds that have a uniform consistency which translates into better tasting coffee. One such example is the Capresso Infinity conical burr which is getting a lot of praise throughtout the coffee world at the minute. In addition, a conical burr grinder can produce an extremely fine ground coffee that is a must if your tipple is Turkish coffee.

Conical grinders do not have many disadvantages other than the more expensive price tag. They are a little more work to clean than blade grinders and they can be noisy.

The Crusher Grinder

The coffee crusher works by crushing the coffee beans into grounds that are not uniform in shape. For this reason, crusher coffee grinders are not a very popular choice.

Conclusion

When selecting the type of coffee grinder to buy, consider the price, ease of operation and the amount of beans that can be processed at a time. All types of coffee grinders will be an improvement over buying coffee that has already been ground and is losing its freshness with each passing day.

For more than 800 years, coffee beans have been ground early in the morning and then brewed in such a manner that the aroma of the freshly brewed coffee wakes up everybody in the vicinity and perks him up quite effectively.

In fact, Japanese researchers have found out that just the aroma of coffee being freshly brewed, and the anticipation of drinking it down boiling hot and sweet, is enough to de-stress you and make you feel more energetic! But one has to remember that the coffee beans need to be ground when you are all ready to brew it. Not only will it then taste more delicious, but the aroma of this coffee is “out of this world,” as is said by many experienced coffee drinkers.

Espresso coffees do not have that sort of aroma or flavor. Ice cream, in addition to other flavors, has been added to change the flavor of the coffee by some companies. A true coffee addict is going to consider this adulteration anathema and is definitely not going to come within smelling distance of such a concoction. Many people do the coffee grinding in a “burr” grinder and then store the coffee in the fridge instead of drinking it immediately. Nevertheless, whatever you like best.

In order to get your coffee beans ground up really fine, then this more costly grinder would be the one best suited for that.

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee is definitely going to be lost if you intend going in for espresso or instant coffee. It is important to keep in mind that before the coffee beans are roasted they must be ground. The unroasted coffee bean is greenish-blue in color, and it turns brown the moment it is roasted. The roasting adds the needed flavor and makes coffee a favorite because of the caffeine and addictiveness. Allow the coffee beans to “rest” for an hour, then it is ok to begin grinding and brewing them. Once this happens, one is able to comprehend and value the complete aroma and taste of the freshly brewed coffee. Please be advised that once the coffee beans have been roasted, they will have a strong bitter and often not favorable taste. If you find the coffee beans to be past a week old, then they will not taste good.

There are many companies out there who are dedicated to the art of brewing freshly ground coffee. Out of these, Keurig is a name to be reckoned with.Let it be known, it has a product line called K-Cups. Your favorite cup of coffee can be enjoyed because of the very useful mini brewers. The K-Cups are air-tight and keep the humidity and moisture out, while keeping the aroma and flavor in!

Happy brewing!

It’s amazing how much people all around the world love coffee. Actually, java is one of the most, if not, the most popular beverage worldwide. Normally, not just any old coffee is enough for most java lovers.

The coffee beans used play a major role in the route to a great latte, espresso shot or cappuccino. This is something everyone should truly consider before investing their hard-earned dollars in just any old cup of caffeinated liquid.

It makes no difference if you are getting coffee beans or grounds for home use or buying a latte at the local coffee house. It’s important to bear in mind that there are so many choices. You’ll always have plenty of Joe to pick and choose from in a world that virtually runs on espresso and coffee beans.

It’s high time you took into account the cup of coffee you sip on a daily basis. Where does it come from or do you make it yourself? If you do produce your own java in-house, then you should think about buying only the freshest coffee beans.

Basically they won’t cost you much more than the commercial stuff you’ll find in the local grocery stores. A lot of select coffee shops and high-end grocers have fine coffee beans. You can even buy them by the pound and take pleasure in them at your convenience.

Look on the bag to see a packaging date if you do choose to buy “fresh” coffee beans. This allows you to estimate and calculate how much longer the beans will be fresh. A general rule of thumb for coffee beans is approximately two weeks.

The difference between fresh java and the stuff you’ll find in air-tight cans at the local grocery store is massive. The truth is that once you try fresh beans that are freshly ground, you’ll likely never go back to old coffee. One way to improve your chances of getting fresh coffee beans is by checking for vacuum sealed bags in coffee shops and chains.

When coffee beans are vacuum sealed, their life span is increased to about three months or even more. Therefore if you’re buying a Starbuck’s blend from your local Starbuck’s, be sure it is vacuum packed for freshness. Once you open it, the smell will inform you immediately of its freshness.

Air is the enemy of all coffee drinkers. As soon as air reaches the coffee grinds it immediately starts to lose their flavor. Coffee manufacturers vacuum seal their grinds to keep them fresh while they sit on the shelves at the supermarket but once you break that seal, it’s all downhill from there. For great tasting coffee you simply need to grind your own coffee beans.

The freshest cup of coffee always grind your coffee bean just before you brew up your coffee. Fresh ground coffee equals a fresh great tasting cup. Which is the best way to grind your coffee beans? Learning how to grind your coffee beans is an important part of making great coffee.

Different types of ground coffee are needed for different types of coffee. So for the freshest tasting coffee the coffee beans need to be freshly ground.

Of course for the real coffee fanatics and connesieurs you may want to invest in a complete bean to cup coffee machine such as the delonghi ESAM5400
.

Percolator/ French Press Coffee

If you plan on brewing your coffee with a percolator or a French Press coffee maker then you’ll need a coarser grind. Simply tap the grind button a couple of times,.

The goal is to break the beans up so that they look like tiny pieces of coffee bean. If the ground coffee looks like powder then you have overdone it, get a new batch and start again. Remember to tap the button and not hold it down.

Automatic drip coffee makers

Automatic drip coffee makers work best with medium grinds. Find some supermarket ground coffee and examine the grinds. Medium grinds are best in this situation. The grinds look like brown sand. So remember the last time you went to the beach but instead of seeing the sand in between your toes, imagine seeing sand in your coffee maker. Once again, while holding the coffee grinder button, don’t get carried away and over grind your coffee beans. Grinding your coffee to fine is a mistake if you are using an autoatic coffee machine.

Espresso maker

Finally if your using an espresso maker, you want those fine powdery grinds that you’ve been trying to avoid when making coarse and medium grinds. Grind away at the coffee beans untill is very finely ground. One of the best espresso coffee makers that we recommend is the Delonghi EC710

Is your morning coffee the only thing that can get you moving and ready to start your day? Or, if you need a little extra incentive, then you may need one of the Starbucks coffees. You can order your favorite coffee beverage from the smiling barista behind the counter. It is also quite possible that the smell of fresh pastries will tempt you enough to promise additional workout time at the gym later. You may even linger around their little coffee bar for a while to savor that sweet aroma just a little bit longer.

Is the recognition from purely branding that makes them rank right up there with other popular brands such as Coca Cola and McDonalds? Or, is it due to the number of locations worldwide making it bound to be recognized through advertising? Or, is a Starbucks coffee just that good; a part of something special?

The original concept was to create a place where people could meet to communicate, other than at home or work; as CEO Howard Schultz put it, “a third place.” With that in mind, the coffee bar was designed to make customers feel comfortable enough to engage in social interaction. While Starbucks coffees lure them in, the atmosphere itself is designed to invite customers to settle in and hang out for awhile.

Of course, Starbucks is all about coffee. From a coffee cup full of their special blend to lattes and espressos, Starbucks is synonymous with coffee and they take it very seriously. They started out as premium coffee roasters and have held fast to their beginnings by serving only excellent brews. They recently underwent some changes and now discard any coffee that had been brewed for more than a half hour.

Starbucks has a commitment to providing their customers with excellent service and excellent Starbucks coffees. They ask their employees to avoid wearing any type of strong perfume, as it may interfere with the aroma of the coffee. At one time Starbucks served breakfast sandwiches along with their coffee but soon stopped as people claimed that the smell of the food overpowered the aroma of their coffee and the place smelled more like a diner than a cafe bar. Starbucks also has an indoor no-smoking policy to avoid the smell of smoke permeating into the coffee.
