Automatically logout idle users in WordPress

Maintaining security and performance is crucial for any WordPress website. One effective way to enhance both is to automatically logout idle users. This feature ensures that users who are inactive for a certain period are logged out, reducing the risk of unauthorized access and freeing up server resources. The best part? You can easily implement this feature using the WordPress plugin called Inactive Logout. Here’s how you can do it.

Why Automatically Logout Idle Users?

Security Enhancement: Automatically logging out inactive users prevents unauthorized access, especially on shared or public computers. It ensures that sensitive information remains protected even if a user forgets to log out manually.

Improved Performance: Idle sessions can consume server resources. By terminating these sessions, you can improve your website’s performance and ensure that resources are available for active users.

User Management: Automatically logging out idle users helps in managing user sessions more effectively, especially in a multi-user environment like an online course or membership site.

Setting Up Inactive Logout Plugin

The Inactive Logout plugin is a powerful and user-friendly tool that helps you automatically logout idle users on your WordPress site. Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting it up:

Install the Plugin:

Go to your WordPress dashboard.

Navigate to Plugins > Add New.

Search for Inactive Logout.

Click Install Now and then Activate the plugin.

Configure Inactive Logout Settings:

After activation, go to Settings > Inactive Logout in your WordPress dashboard.

Set the Idle Time (in minutes) after which users should be logged out. This is the period of inactivity you allow before a user is automatically logged out.

Customize the Logout Message that users will see when they are logged out due to inactivity.

Enable or disable the Countdown Timer, which alerts users before they are logged out.

Configure other settings such as excluding certain roles from automatic logout or redirecting users to a specific URL after logout.

Save Changes:

Once you have configured all the settings as per your requirements, click Save Changes to apply the settings.

Advanced Features of Inactive Logout

Role-based Settings: Customize idle timeout based on user roles, providing flexibility for different types of users.

Custom Logout Redirect: Redirect users to a specific page after they are logged out, enhancing user experience.

Warning Notifications: Provide a countdown timer or warning message before users are logged out, allowing them to extend their session if needed.

Idle Detection: Detect idle users based on mouse movements, keyboard actions, and touch events for accurate inactivity tracking.

Best Practices

Set Appropriate Idle Time: Balance security and user convenience by setting a reasonable idle time. Too short may frustrate users, while too long may compromise security.

Communicate with Users: Inform users about the automatic logout feature, so they are aware of the security measures and can save their work regularly.

Test the Configuration: Before fully implementing, test the configuration with different user roles to ensure it works as expected without disrupting user experience.

Conclusion

Automatically logging out idle users is an effective way to enhance the security and performance of your WordPress site. The Inactive Logout plugin offers an easy and customizable solution to manage idle sessions efficiently. By following the steps outlined above, you can set up this feature in no time, providing a secure and smooth experience for your users.

Install the Inactive Logout plugin today and take a proactive step towards safeguarding your WordPress website!

At the time, I was using Swiper JS version 11.0.5, and with Swiper planning to discontinue their React library, I decided to adopt the Swiper Element approach.

The issue stemmed from Swiper JS adding extra classes and styles to elements during rendering, causing a divergence between the virtual and actual DOM. Most probably because I was using React Suspense.

To address this, I implemented the dynamic import functionality in Next JS 14, disabling SSR (Server-Side Rendering). You can find details about dynamic import in the NextJS documentation.

Here’s a snippet from my code in MovieCategory.tsx:

import moviesApi from '@/lib/api/movies';
import CardSkeleton from '@/components/skeletons/card';
import { Suspense } from 'react';
import Link from 'next/link';
import dynamic from 'next/dynamic';

//Adding Import here
const DynamicSwiperCarousel = dynamic(
  () => import('../../swiper/swiper-carousel'),
  {
    ssr: false,
  }
);

export const MovieCategory = () => {
  const movies = moviesApi.getCategorized();

  return (
    <Suspense fallback={<CardSkeleton className="mt-16" />}>
      <MovieCards promise={movies} />
    </Suspense>
  );
};

/**
* @todo TYPE define
*/
const MovieCards = async ({ promise }: any) => {
  const movies = await promise;

  return Object.entries(movies).map(([category, movies]: any) => {
    return (
      <>
        <DynamicSwiperCarousel data={movies} />
      </>
    );
  });
};

In this above code you can see line 8-13 – I am importing swiper-carousel using dynamic import and SSR has been set to false and on line 34 calling DynamicSwiperCarousel

This way it should solve the warning for you. Hopefully this was helpful to you. Cheers!

Setting up Next JS with Docker and File Sync

Today we are going to look at how we can setup our NextJS application in Docker with Hot reloading feature. For this tutorial we are going to use Next.js with Docker. Note: This works with Next.js version 13 as well.

So, firstly we are going to look at what is Docker in simple terms and get started with the implementation. You can simply take examples of containers containing certain elements which is excluded from other similar containers. So, we use Docker in order to isolate a certain application environment which can be then exported to another device without the hassle of conflicts and dependency errors.

In this tutorial we will be using docker-compose command to setup our next.js application into a Docker container. There are two commands that can be used to create Docker containers for example:

Docker build

docker-compose up –build

The major difference between the two is “Docker” command can only run single instance of the Docker Container while using docker-compose we can run multiple docker containers where we can configure that from a yaml file. I won’t go in detail here about this, you can just google this stuff up easily.

So, let’s get started with the implementation. In order to get started you’ll first need to install Docker on your machine which you can get from below link.

https://www.docker.com/get-started/

In order to verify if you have Docker already installed run the command docker -v in your command line or terminal.

After this, we create a next.js project on our local. Let’s run the create-next-app line in our terminal. We’ll be using npm for this tutorial.

npx create-next-app --example with-docker next-with-docker

After create the next app you’ll see a file named Dockerfile in your next.js application root directory like in the below screenshot.

By default when we create out next.js application with the flag with-docker next.js will add certain commands itself. In this tutorial we will be overriding those with a bit simple code so that it may be easy to get started on our development server first.

So, our Dockerfile would look like below.

# Install dependencies only when needed
FROM node:16-alpine
RUN mkdir -p /app
WORKDIR /app

# Install dependencies based on the preferred package manager
COPY package*.json /app

RUN npm install

COPY . /app

# Exposing the Application Port
EXPOSE 3000

CMD ["npm", "run", "dev"]

We are starting from the base image node:16.

Create directory using mkdir -p /app

Set the working directory as /app

copy the package.json to install all the dependencies

We need to install all the dependencies

Exposing the port 3000

Finally, we run the command npm run dev

Now, if you run cd into your next project and run the following code it will create the docker image for you. However, there is a slight problem with this approach.

docker build -t next-with-docker .

With this approach when you change the code from your local copy of next application it won’t be directly reflected and updated on the container so, we’ll need to add a docker-compose.yml file to the root folder of our next.js application. So, go ahead and create a docker-compose.yml in your root next.js application folder and add below code to that file.

version: "3"
   services:
   frontend:
   build:
     context: .
     dockerfile: Dockerfile
   container_name: frontend
   restart: always
   volumes:
      - ./:/app
      - /app/node_modules
      - /app/.next
   ports:
      - 3000:3000

Now run below code on your terminal.

docker-compose up --build

Now our project is up and running. Any changes you do on your local with reflect on the container side as well. Hope this helped.

Creating Zoom Events on WordPress

Ever wondered how you can host your Zoom events directly from your own website without needing to go back and forth on Zoom portal? You can do so, using WordPress alongside with Video Conferencing with Zoom plugin. This tutorial shows you on how you can create your Zoom Meetings from your WordPress site and show them on the frontend for your users to be able to join them without any hassle.

Firstly, you will need to install Video Conferencing with Zoom plugin in your WordPress site. You can simply search the plugin on the plugins menu or download it and upload it via FTP. After the plugin installation you will need to follow a few steps to connect your Zoom account with your WordPress site. This tutorial is for the Video Conferencing with Zoom plugin version 4.0.8 or greater.

Video Conferencing with Zoom plugin setup

Setting up the plugin is fairly easy. We have documented all the necessary steps to take in order for you to get your Zoom events up and running. Follow the tutorial from here.

Creating your First Zoom Event

This section assumes that you have successfully connected your Zoom account to your WordPress site.

To create your Zoom Event simply login to your WordPress dashboard and from there search for a menu option called “Zoom Events” and add new.

You should be redirected to a Add new post – If you are not using classic editor then you should see below like screen on your side. If you are using a classic editor then also, the below steps are pretty much the same only the UI layout is different.

You should see a page like above after you click on add new button. Here add your

Zoom Event Title

Zoom Event Description

Select your Zoom Meeting Host from “Meeting Host” section

Meeting type = either Webinar or Meeting

Start Time of the event

and so on.. After everything seems fine for you – Just publish the post and check the frontend page. You should see a page layout like below where your users can see the meeting information and join buttons. Please note that “Start Meeting” only shows to author of the post.

Now your users can join your meeting page with just a click of a button. Users can join directly via browser if they don’t want to join the meeting through the Zoom App. This is pretty much how your create your Zoom Events from the plugin. Now, you must be wondering how do I bring the already existing meetings from Zoom to your WordPress site? Yes, this is possible. See next steps for this.

Importing your existing Zoom Events to your site

If you already have created the events on your Zoom portal then you can simply use the importer feature of the plugin to import those events to your WordPress site. To do so – Goto Zoom Events > Import

Please note that in order for you to import recurring meetings and Zoom Webinars you will require PRO version of the plugin which you can get from here.

After you have imported your meeting from Zoom you can view your meetings from wp-admin > Zoom Events page. Your users can see the meetings on the frontend as well.

Adding Users to your Zoom Account

In most cases, you will have multiple users who needs capability to host Zoom events from a single platform. You can do so by adding the users to your main Zoom account. In this case, main account will be the one whose API keys are being used during the plugin setup. After that, you will need to add other users into the main account. After adding those users to your main Zoom account, they will show up on the plugin – You can choose different host of the meeting then.

Understanding Video Conferencing with Zoom plugin settings

There are quite a few settings that can be configured from the plugin. Let’s take a look at some of those settings. Settings page can be accessed through wp-admin > Zoom Events > Settings > Settings Tab. Usually, most users are unaware of this.

Vanity URL: Use this option if you have a custom domain setup on Zoom.

Meeting Deletion: Use this option if you do not want to delete your Zoom events on Zoom side when you delete your meetings from your WordPress site.

Disable Auto Password Generation: Checking this option will disable auto password generation for new meetings which are created from Zoom meeting > Add new section.

Hide Join Links for Non-Loggedin: Checking this option will hide join links from your shortcode for non-loggedin users.

Disable Embed password in Link: Meeting password will not be included in the invite link to allow participants to join with just one click without having to enter the password.

Show Past Join Link: This will show join meeting links on frontend even after meeting time is already past.

Show Zoom Author: Checking this show Zoom original Author in single meetings page which are created from Zoom Meetings

Disable Join via browser: Checking this will hide all Join via Browser Buttons.

Disable Email field when join via browser: Checking this show will hide email field in Join via Browser window.

Disable Invite field when join via browser: Checking this will disable invite button when user joins meeting via Join via Browser window.

Default Language for Join via browser page: Select a default language when you join a meeting via browser.

and so on..

Shortcodes

Plugin provides few handy shortcodes which you can utilize anywhere on your site. Check out this documentation for more information on the shortcodes.

Hooks

Video Conferencing with Zoom plugin is built with developers in mind so, the plugin has alot of hooks which developers can use to extend and modify the portions of the plugin. While, we did not get every hook added in the documentation here – Please know, that there are hooks that can be used to modify most portion of the plugin functionality so, if you are developer you can just use the code or contact us in order to know the hook detail you need.

Have no fear
For when I’m alone
I’ll be better off than I was before
I’ve got this light
I’ll be around to grow
Who I was before
I cannot recall
Long nights allow me to feel…
I’m falling…I am falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
I’m falling
I am falling safely to the ground

I’ll take this soul that’s inside me now
Like a brand new friend
I’ll forever know
I’ve got this light
And the will to show
I will always be better than before
Long nights allow me to feel…
I’m falling…I am falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
Setting up Video Conferencing with Zoom plugin version 4.0.0

With plugin version 4.0.0 – Video conferencing with zoom plugin now supports server-to-server authentication method. As, JWT App Type is being deprecated by Zoom we have implemented the new server-to-server authentication method.

Current users do not need to worry about any breaking changes, chances are there is none. Server-to-server authentication method is fairly simple to integrate. It is mostly similar to how you have been using your JWT keys. Only the authentication method is different. This feature came into existence because the JWT app type will be deprecated in June, 2023. Zoom recommends that you create Server-to-Server OAuth or OAuth apps to replace the functionality of a JWT app in your account.

So, let’s get started on your migration or setup guide.

Step 1: Generating Keys

First go to Create Page

Find Server-to-Server OAuth and click create – highlighted in below image.

3. Add you app name now into the box shown below.

4. Once App is created – you will be taken to an App Overview page where you can see App Credentials

5. Now add your Contact name, Contact email and Company name on the information page

6. This is a very crucial step, for the Video conferencing with zoom plugin to work – you will need to define the correct scopes for the App. Goto scopes and click “Add Scopes” and add Meeting, Webinar, Report, User, Recording, Report and select all options on each selected scopes.

Here below are all the permissions that are required:

– View and manage sub account’s user meetings/meeting:master
– View all user meetings/meeting:read:admin
– View and manage all user meetings/meeting:write:admin
– View and manage sub account’s user recordings/recording:master
– View all user recordings/recording:read:admin
– View and manage all user recordings/recording:write:admin
– View sub account’s report data/report:master
– View report data/report:read:admin
– View your chat history report/report_chat:read:admin
– View and manage sub account’s user information/user:master
– View all user information/user:read:admin
– View users information and manage users/user:write:admin
– View and manage sub account’s user webinars/webinar:master
– View all user Webinars/webinar:read:admin
– View and manage all user Webinars/webinar:write:admin

After these your keys have been generated and good to proceed to next step.

Step 2: Adding your keys to the Plugin

Skip to migration section below if you are an existing Video conferencing with zoom plugin user.

Goto wp-admin > Zoom Events > Settings > connect tab

Add the Server-to-Server credentials ( Account ID, Client ID, Client Secret ) that can be viewed in the app under credentials. Shown in step 1 section on point number 4

Click on save to validate the keys and you are successfully connected with your Zoom account.

However, with server-to-server authentication implementation join via browser does not work automatically. You will need to add in the additional SDK keys to activate it.

You can see further documentation from here.

Migrating from JWT to Server-to-Server method

then you should see a message box appearing on the top of your admin panel stating that you should migrate your keys.

Click on the “migration wizard” button to complete the process. Check this link to get an idea of how migration works.

Version 4.0.0 changelog:

Replaced JWT with server-to-server authentication method

Updated WebSDK to version 2.5.0

The lake melts to form the Trishuli River; it remains frozen for six months in winter October to June. There are 108 lakes in the vicinity. This is a must visit destination for enthusiasts who love to travel. Kunda is also known as translation for the lake/pool in Nepali

Our journey started on Baisakh 3rd, 2079 ( April 16th, 2022 ), Saturday – Since, this was new year’s time in Nepal, I and one of my colleague had planned this for about a month or so but we weren’t sure we were going at all because of being busy in life with work and all. We were not sure we were going upto April 15th as well. However….. so, let’s start our journey from the beginning.

The Nature’s Call:

It was Friday (April 15th, 2022) and it was I think around 12:00pm or so – We were at our office doing work, for this trek I did ask some of my friends whether they would like to join but none agreed and the only people left were me and Umesh dai from my office. So, Umesh dai and me had decided that we would go to Gosaikunda and I did some research on the itinerary as well as when it would be perfect time to visit Gosaikunda. Some people did scare us by saying that it would rain alot and we would have alot of difficulties during this time.

So, we were also not quite interested on going to be honest but our moods changed on the last day and we finally decided to go even if we were only two people. To be honest I am just a new traveler, I have been going to hikings and trekkings but it has just been 2 years or so that i started and also, there are only few places that I have gone trekking to so, I would call myself novice – same goes for Umesh dai who was going to join me. So, we decided to take the risk, enjoy the nature and go with the flow.

Eventually, on Friday we finished our office and went home to pack our stuff for trekking. I mean i already have all the gear I need for trekking so, all I needed to pack was my clothes and gears into one place. We decided to stay at office on Friday so, that we can easily have access to road in the morning next day as my home is far from center area. So, we came to office after packing our stuff from home and slept there. This was the nature’s call to us.

On the Road:

The first day of the trip, we had to take the bus route Dhunche which was the starting point of our trekking. We woke up around 6am ( we are not morning people so, 6 is very early for us ) – got ready and packed our bags, doubled checked and started our trip.

Even though we did not finalize the trip soon, I had done my research about the trip so, we knew where to take the bus and where it would drop us and where the trip started from. So, we went to “Macchapokhari, Kathmandu“, where the bus for Dhunche would be found. Took tickets and started our trip. About the bus, trip was Okay’ish as the bus had adequate comfortability in terms of seats however, it always stank. Well, i could not expect more here so, no more rambling – and then we started our journey by bus. We departured around 9:30am in the morning from Kathmandu and reached around 4:30pm in Dhunche – As soon as we reached Dhunche area, it was cold that I needed to wear my jackets on and the environment changed.

It’s always the environment that gets me when I go outside the valley. It’s always healthier due to less pollution outside the valley. Since, I was born in the valley – it kinda sucks sometimes but it is what it is, no remorse. Anyway, we reached Dhunche and we were hungry so, we decided for quick meal before we stretched ourselves. Since, we had some time and the sun was still up, we planned to hike for a bit so that we can stretch our legs for the next day but !!!

Start of our Trek

After reaching Dhunche and walking down a few distance, you will see a board such as below where it pretty much gives you an idea of what the trek would be like. You will see 3 intersection roads – left one being going to Langtang and the right one to Gosaikunda. So, back to but – we were hungry so we sat down at a restaurant there to please our tummy because we saw some people eating there.

Well i will never suggest that place – I do know that mo:mo’s are never great outside kathmandu valley (personally for me), I forgot that day about this fact and boy I regretted. Although the tea was good, but my tummy was not pleased – however, I did force myself to finish the plate because I was hungry af.

So, completed our tea and lunch and started preparing for the stretch. We started our trek from here on Saturday, April 16th 2022

Gosaikunda Trek is one of those trek which i enjoyed alot – the pathway and route was very pleasing and the view was of course astonishing. At the start of the trek you will start to enjoy the trek because you are suddenly combined with mother nature from the start of the trekking route. I and Umesh dai were so pleased to see it, although we knew there would be harsh paths along the way but we were motivated.

Our start of the trek looked like this. It was awesome, remembering this now makes me wanna go back there again. So, the first day we walked for around 45 minutes and reached Ghatte Khola. We stayed at a hotel there the first night. Hospitality is always nice and the owners were very nice to us. There was no internet at the time we went there but they were saying that internet was coming in next few days. As, the name says the location had continuously flow of water which made it very special and entertaining. Especially, motivated to start the trek. We had taken 4 half khukuri rum for the trek as this was mandatory for us. We drank 1 half the first day and ended our night early and gathered was energy for the next day.

Ghatte Khola to Chandanbari

This would be our first day of the trek for us. So, we woke up around 6 am and prepared ourselves – had small breakfast and started our trek around 6.45 am, If we started late we knew the sun would hinder us on our trek so, we tried our best to start early. Eventually, it was not too late nor too fast.

This was the photo taken on our first day of the trek. Pleasant view eh ? We were so excited and had full energy. It was uphill climb first day as we needed to reach 2900m from 3250m the first day. We were initially planning on reaching to Lauribina(3900m) the first day but could not due. Umesh dai was tired so, we could not walk anymore and the wind was so strong in the evening time. So, we decided to stay at Chandanbari the first day. We had taken a Ukelele and enjoyed our night there. Hotel at Chandanbari was nice too.

The trek to Chandanbari did take some toll on us but more on Umesh dai so, we were so tired. At the end of the day I even had a minor headache, I was afraid that it might have been because of the height but it was not. Maybe due to dehydration, it was gone the next morning as I did take some medicine as well. During our visit there were not many trekkers which made us easier to get rooms and enjoy ourselves. There is complete uphill trek during this trek and can be very difficult for some but saying that, it does not mean it is impossible for anyone. It’s comparatively easier to other treks I have been to.

So, we ended our first day of Trek at Chandanbari with a touch of 1 half khukuri rum as well as so called mustang coffee which is equivalent and also known jwai khatte

Chandanbari to Gosaikunda

This was technically the 2nd day for us. On April 18th, 2022 we started our 2nd day of the trip, we were a bit exhausted on this day as we climbed alot during the first one and as I said before, we were novice climbers so, it’s usual stuff to be like this. On our 2nd day we took some time to prepare ourselves, we even woke up around 7 am and only started the trek at 8 am. We asked the locals there about how much further we would need to go and they said we would reach Lauribina by 2 or 3 hours and from there it would take 2 hours more but that would not be the case for non-locals as we all know.

So, by this day our excitement level was a bit lower than before but certainly not that much. So, we climbed more mountains. We met alot of travellers as well, it was certainly a pleasant trip as i remember now. After some walking, we met our hardest challenge of the trek “Lauribina“ – this location seemed easy to cross but let me tell you it was not. At first we had to walk on scorching sun due to late start which was so excruciating and second the route was simply exhausting AF. It was straight plan uphill on scorching sun. While this route looks easy by looking at it from far distance, let me tell you its not. At all and if it rains then it’s going to be some pain to cross. Thankfully it never rained for us on our whole trip except for the last day which was very refreshing for us. below picture is taken from “Lauribina”

The name “Lauribina” came into existence because of the fact, people not being able to cross the path without a stick – in Nepali “lauro” being the stick, “bina” meaning “you cannot”, although the route was improved from how it was many years ago so, its comparatively very easy right now and new trek routes and pathways are being constructed here which is also a bonus point plus amazing !!!

Overall, the exaggeration i just explained above might not be similar . After you cross lauribina – this is when you start to see alot of nature and this trip actually becomes worth it for you. You begin to see the mountains and the level of route maintenance is amusing. First thing you will see is, you walk on small pathway and at right side you will see mountains with snow and the air breeze adds extra taste here. If you walk here without a wind cheater then you will be doomed for sure as your voice already starts to crack with the extra padding on your body.

Since, i cannot explain you the whole picture of the location – here is one of the picture i took of the path. Amusing right ?

Gosaikunda is the real deal

As, you start to walk down the paths like shown in above picture your feet starts to move automatically because the destination is not too far. Your body is exhausted but your destination is the big thing so your motivation comes automatically. This is what happened for me in the last few miles of the trip. At first you see “Saraswati Kunda” – which is like a starter for you. It get’s you excited and motivates you for the big fish.

After you see Saraswati Kunda you begin to expect to see more but let me tell you honestly, it takes time and effort to reach. It took about 1 hour more to reach Gosaikunda for us after seeing Saraswati kunda.

Before reaching Gosaikunda you will start to see Bhairav Kunda which is magnificent. It takes another breath out of your soul. I stayed there for a while admiring the beauty of the lakes as so did Umesh dai but he was mostly exhausted haha. I was eager and had ran a big ahead of him this time. This whole trip I had motivated both of us but this time it was the natural beauty that motivated me here and then.

So, finally I gave my final push and reached to the top of the lake and saw the magnificent Gosaikunda.

Umesh dai also eventually came to the top and we both had laughs and cheers about how we conquered this trek finally. We had taken a victory cigar but we kinda broke it (uggh) and could not experience it the right way. Although, we went to the lake and took pictures, heck Umesh dai even gave a swam on the lake. It is said that swimming there would wash away all your sins. However, I am a bit sceptic in these kinds of things plus I kinda don’t know how to swim so, all i did was splash a bit of water into my head and carry on….

We stayed at the lake for some time – I think we reached there around 4 pm this time around and had some time to work around this. The most amazing fact here is that the hotel we stayed had an actual Wifi – like a genuine fast wifi, none of the other hotels below had wifi but in the top it had one.

The winds were very strong so we went back to our hotel and there we had our lunch met a foreigner with whom we had whole night conversations and it was actually fun. He was from Israel. I kinda forgot his name since it was hard to pronounce. We had our another half of the rum and gave it a night. Also, at night it gets very cold here. We wore thick clothes plus had two blankets but was shivering. I mean it’s very cold.

Farewell and Good Memories

In the next morning, everything was new and fresh – since, our worries were gone it was like a new day and fresh day. I was up quickly this day because I was excited to see the beauty from here. Umesh dai had slept a bit more because he said he did not felt sleepy at night so, i did not disturb him. Anyway, later we had our breakfast and bid farewell to our Israeli friend, he was going to do the circuit but our plan was to return from the same path we went up. Maybe some next time I am planning to do a circuit here.

So, we took our breakfast, stretched and bid farewell to Gosaikunda – Our downhill battle was so easy as it seemed. I having some experience of it had a bit easy here it seems as downhill can get very dangerous unless you walk with your pace and experience. Our plan here was to come straight down to Dhunche from Gosaikunda.

We did succeed in this and man i remember this moment alot – it was painful but worth it. Umesh dai did have some trouble when coming down all the way from Gosaikunda to Dhunche as he was so tired he could not walk anymore and so was I. However, we made it to Dhunche successfully and slept sound sleep that day.

Overall, it was a good trip to remember and alot of good memories. Anyone who is planning to do this trek should definitely do it, it’s worth it. However, if you don’t have the habbit of walking, I would suggest to first get your legs some exercise before you go into this trek. Better be prepared than to fall short.

Fix: The Cycle Frontier Stuttering, Lags, or Freezing constantly

YAGER recently launched a free-to-play first person shooter game called “The Cycle: Frontier” – I am going to give my personal review of the game as I haven’t had much chance to play the game due to stupid errors the game has. It took me some time to figure out. Personally, this game looks interesting to me as I am a fan of “Escape for Tarkov” – While Escape from Tarkov being the hyper realistic shooter, this game has a different vibe – “Futuristic Vibe”.

You can get the gist of game by going to Youtube or checking out their official website. Since, its Free to play – the only thing you would get wasting is trying to run or play the game, maybe this might not happen to everyone but it did to me and man I took two days to make the game up and running again.

Here is what happened to me:

Initially, I installed and got to play 5 games and was hooked with looting and shooting the aliens, but the second day when I tried to play again – my game would not run.

What was the issue ?

When I ran the game, all I saw was black screen with mouse cursor and lobby sound but nothing showed up on my screen. I “Alt + tabbed” but nothing happened then, I finally decided to research the issue on Google and I did found some articles but none were helpful at all.

What the articles said about the fix ?

Some useless crap which did not make sense – although I tried those but never succeeded. So, what did I try then ?

Run game as administrator – WTF to this. This did show me the character but my game froze with sound on the background. I had some ray of hope but this is useless. Don’t ty !!!

Update graphics driver ? Duh ! This is the first thing to do, everyone should know this but mine was already up-to-date for my RTX-2060

Set high priority on task manager – Please don’t do this, this is useless and can stress your CPU, I never tried this.

Verify game integrity on steam ( as I am using steam ) – Try this for you as well, for me everything was fine as I or my system never altered any files.

Disable anti-virus for the game ( no outcomes here also )

Remove Settings files

So, I had a headache trying all the above but none worked and finally today, I again gave the game a try – but it was the same thing so, I kind of thought maybe this might be because of the graphics settings I had saved before ? Since, this game has a lot of issues on launch, this might be the problem I thought and so I searched where the Cycle: Frontier settings file were being stored. So, I found where the game files were being stored and just removed them.

Search below location on your search bar

For windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Prospect\

Delete the folder “Prospect” and the game should run fine for you.

However, please note: doing so will delete your settings and all but not the game data. So, you don’t need to worry about the loots and stuff.

Bottom line, if you are having the same issues as me – like black screen, stuttering etc then try doing this as an alternative fix for everything else that you have tried. Who knows, this might be the fix that you were looking for.

Happy Hunting !!
