Can I include HTML tags in the job text I sent to CareerBuilder?

Yes. Yes you can. But CareerBuilder currently does not support all HTML tags.

We do not support TABLE and IFRAME. The latter is excluded out of security concerns.

Nor are FONT and SPAN tags allowed. These are stripped out upon receipt. They are far too prevalent in raw HTML copied from Microsoft Word, and cause the limit of the description field to be exceeded.

Why is my CareerBuilder job listed in Burlington MA?! It is supposed to be in Camden NJ!

When specifying a job, there are four different location fields that can be listed with information:

City
State/Province
Country
Postal Code/Zip Code

For example the following information could be sent in a job posting to CareerBuilder:
<Field name="CBCity" value="Camden" />
<Field name="CBState" value="NJ" />
<Field name="CBCountry" value="US" />
<Field name="CBUSZip5" value="01803" />

When job location data is parsed by CareerBuilder, the zip code value will take precendence over the city/state pairing.

But as it turns out, the zip code value of 01803 is not Camden, NJ. It is Burlington MA.
The poster accidentally transposed the 2nd and 3rd digits of the zip code.
Had they passed 08103 as the zip code value, the job would have appeared on CB where it was expected.

How do I have the application email be sent to multiple addresses

You have a job on CB and you want the job to be sent to multiple email addresses that are stored on the job.

We can support that.

Define on address as the prime address. This is sent to us in the field “CBContactEmail”

Then list the rest of the email addresses you have in the “CBAOLCopyEmailList” field

<Field name="CBAOLCopyEmailList" 
       value="beta@testcompany.com, gamma@testcompany.com, delta@testcompany.com" />

You can have as many whole email addresses as you want, as long as the list is less than 255 characters total.

And you can delimit the list with either a comma or semi-colon.

For those of you who perhaps do not know about the DPI, it stands for Document Post Interface. Its the mechanism used by CareerBuilder to receive job postings electronically.

This blog will be designed to help answer the questions perhaps you as a job poster did not even know to ask. We will strive to be informative and assist you.
