Every business interacts with it's potential market and existing client base in some way, even if they aren't trying. The deliberate attempts at this operation, which is formally called communications, can be broken down into the categories of marketing (Your attempts to gain an understanding of what the market wants, and your reactions to identified needs of that market), public relations (Your attempts to promote a positive trend in the public's perception of you), and advertising (Your attempts to promote awareness of your company, and it's services and products, and to encourage the market to purchase your products and services). Larger companies devote a lot of time, energy and resources towards these things, not because they have money to burn, but because they know that they will get an excellent return from their investments in the long run, but smaller business tend to approach it in a very different way, with some overlooking it completely.

It is true that some small businesses do not need marketing or advertising, because they only serve one big client, or because they have so little competition that business is guaranteed for example. Any small business in a competitive market, or with a desire to grow or reach a larger segment of the market needs to put some serious thought and effort into investing in long marketing and advertising strategies. Unfortunately, many of the companies catering to these small businesses in the marketing and advertising spheres really have no idea what marketing is, and offer advertising products (like flyers and posters), without really understanding what makes advertising effective, or caring whether the small business they are serving is getting the best return on their investment.

Miss Behaviour Clothing Tags

This clothing tag was set up for an aspiring fashion designer who had found a small fashion boutique interested in stocking her creations. We took advantage of the bargain price most print shops offer to print full colour business cards and designed the tag to conform to standard business card dimensions. Holes were punched by hand and string attached as the need arose. The illustration went with a manga inspired theme to cash in on the popularity the style had at the time with anime and cartoons like Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z being all the rage.

Apprentice Doctor® "Inside Information": Drawing of Human Anatomy

This semi-realistic, detailed but colourfully stylised illustration of the human body cut-away to reveal the underlying anatomy was originally used for an advertising campaign for the Apprentice Doctor® Foundation Course aimed at a broader audience than just those teenagers with an aspiration to a career in medicine.The image points out a few of the various physiological systems that the course explores in detail.

Chess!

This chess set was fully modelled by Drawing Conclusions to serve as a sample image. We use 3D imagery to create realistic images of objects that would not be practical to photograph, because they don't exist yet in the case of inventions or buildings in the architectural stage of development or because they exist only in the realm of fantasy. It makes an interesting alternative to the more traditional forms of illustration due to the level of detail and photorealism.
