Millionaire Secret #4 – Delegation

There are many tasks that will absolutely suck up your time if you are not careful. Tasks that if you paid someone to do, would pay at or less than minimum wage in most cases. Examples, vacuuming your car, washing your car, mowing your lawn, doing laundry, etc. I think you get the picture. Those tasks can be delegated to someone that is willing to do the work for cheap or nothing at all, while you do the work that makes you a considerable income.

What are tasks that create income for you? Let’s just stick with what the Millionaires in our industry do. They coach and train their downline to be more effective at recruiting and sharing the business opportunity with others. They are constantly learning to be better mentors, speakers, managers, motivators, closers, teachers and innovators. They are meeting with people in order to share the business opportunity that made said millionaire a fortune. These types of tasks build long term and residual income, income that can be measured in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars per hour over the long term.

So you see, again, delegation is not really a Millionaire Secret by any means, but it is not readily taught either. Take a pen and piece of paper and write two lists. One list of the tasks that can be delegated to someone you either pay or get to do at no charge. The second list consists of the tasks that will make you money in droves. Start delegating the low paying tasks and do the high paying work on a consistent, daily basis. Over time, and a very short time I might add if you do this daily, you will see tremendous returns on the time spent doing the work that can make you a fortune!

That’s right, I said one helluva ride. Why? Because Multi-Level Marketing has its ups and downs and there are times when its ups are really up and there are times when its downs are really down. Not fun to be on this roller coaster ride at times, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. There are three things that I have done in my career that have helped to level out the ups and downs along the way.

#1 – Sought Help – I asked for help from people that have gone through the same thing I am going through because they are on the same road I am, just a little farther up the path. I seek out people that have extremely positive attitudes and get fed shots of positivity from them in my low times. I stay in constant contact with my upline in order to stay on track and be coached through the rough times and pushed forward during the great times.

#2 – Focus on the big picture – It is easy to get distracted by individual trees and bushes while in the forest. But guess what, some of those bushes and trees are downright poisonous. Some of them are incredibly beautiful, but get into the habit of looking at the entire forest, not just one or two bad ones or one or two good ones. The entire forest is a thing of wonder and beauty. Same thing with the Multi-Level Marketing journey. It’s a wonderful experience, but it is necessary to look past the valleys and mountains along the way and keep your sites on the destination.

#3 – Never give up – I have never given up. I have been at this for quite a while and I have an incredible life as a result. I love what Tim Allen said in Galaxy Quest, “Never give up, never surrender.” It rings true in this industry as well. Never give up on the dream. Never give up on the destination. Never give up on yourself. Never give up, period.

Enjoy the ride along the way. Seek help, stay focused on the big picture, but most of all, never, ever give up. See you at the top. The view from here is spectacular.

Millionaire Secret #3 – Leverage

Millionaires know that if they are able to leverage the efforts of others, their paychecks skyrocket. What do you think would create greater results – 100% of your effort or 10% of 1000 people’s effort? Obviously, it’s the 1000 people’s effort. The Millionaire Secret of leverage can make YOU a fortune because you are gaining from the efforts of others, not just yourself.

Ok, let’s relate it to MLM’s. A rep in this industry leverages the efforts of his down in order to increase the digits in his or her’s residual check. The power of residual income comes from leverage. A rep with a huge downline makes a considerably higher income that one with a sparse downline. So, recruit, recruit, recruit… build a huge downline and use leverage to your advantage! I have often heard it said, “I can’t make that type of money,” or, “Some people have all the luck when it comes to money.” Those statements are patently false. If you believe it, it’s true, but that is only the perception of the truth. The reality of the truth is that anyone, and I mean anyone can become a millionaire and millionaire secrets are really not that secret.

Here are two brief secrets that millionaires share and if applied can make you a fortune.

Millionaire Secret #1

Millionaires save/invest first and spend what’s left. Poor people spend first and save/invest what’s left. Well guess what, there’s never anything left. A bill collector will wait, why? Because they have to, that’s why! Pay yourself first. Here is a great rule of thumb when it comes to your paycheck. Save 10% of your paycheck no matter what! Talk to a financial advisor or financial planner and set up an account if you must or take part in your company’s 401k. Make it a forced savings if you must, but save it none the less!

Millionaire Secret #2

Millionaires leverage their money to have it make money for them. This particular thing is known as the rule of 72 or compounding interest. The rule states that if you take the interest your money is earning and divide 72 by that number, it will tell you how many years it will take your money to double. For example, a standard savings account interest rate is about 2%. Take that 2% and divide it into 72 and you come up with the number 36. 36 is how many years it will take your money to double. A CD or certificate of deposit is about 3% or it will take 24 years for your money to double. A money market at 4% takes 18 years and a mutual fund at 12% takes 6 years to double. So, out of those options – a savings account, CD, money market account or mutual fund, which will double your money the fastest? That’s right, a mutual fund.

Now, I am not a financial advisor or planner, so please seek the assistance of a trusted advisor. Someone that is referred to you. Seek their professional guidance in these matters and do it soon. The sooner you start, the sooner your money doubles.

MLM Mistake #2 – Reinventing the wheel

This is a complete and utter no-no! Work the program the way it was designed because the program works! These programs are tried and true and were developed by people that are making 6 and 7 figure incomes. Avoid the MLM mistake of trying to work the program your own way. Work the program, the program works!

MLM Mistake #3 – Incomplete chicken list

This is a huge MLM Mistake that can be easily avoided. Do not prejudge anyone on your chicken list (first people to see list). Talk to them all and add everyone you know to the list. Fear is the major motivating factor for an incomplete chicken list. Don’t be a chicken, get help from your mentors and upline and COMPLETE the list!

MLM Mistake #4 – The lone wolf syndrome

This MLM Mistake comes in the form of the know-it-all. The individual that feels that they do not need to attend events, participate in conference calls, complete their training, attend conference and other national functions. We live in a very negative world and there are plenty of people that are more than willing to discourage you and steal your dreams! Don’t do this alone. You are in business for yourself, not by yourself. Attend and participate in everything you can in order to stay positive and focused on your dreams and what it takes to make those dreams happen.

MLM Mistake #5 – No product conviction

How in the world do you intend to sell anyone on the product or the opportunity if you are not sold yourself? Avoid this MLM Mistake at all costs! Get on the product and share the opportunity.

A dear friend of mine, Phil, told me a story long ago that resonates with me to this day. It goes a little something like this…

There are three ducks in a pond and two decide to fly away. How many are left? Three, there is a big difference between decision and action.

Those who are successful in network marketing, multi level marketing or direct sales are not successful because they decided to be successful. They are successful because they took action! Consistent, daily action!

Personally, I started flapping my wings years ago. Not sure what the other two ducks are up to these days, but this duck is soaring with the eagles now and in the near future, I will be looking down upon the eagles from my lofty perch.

Two things that happened today that just left me shaking my head. One, I was on a sales call and the partner with me on the call was nervous, very nervous. As a result, he would not stop talking. Second, I was approached by a salesman selling me waterless car wash in a can and when I asked him to close me on the sale, he made a few smart remarks and didn’t ask for the business again.

Situation number one, when a potential client is talking, never, and I mean never talk over them. Listen to what they are telling you. Allow the client to do the talking, nine times out of ten they will tell you exactly how to sell them. Remember, people care less how much you know until they know how much you care. LISTEN to them! My partner on the call was nervous, but he eventually caught himself and started following my lead allowing me to ask the proper questions that got the client talking. My associate answered some of the questions and ended each answer with another open ended question. Needless to say, we closed the deal and are looking forward to a long and lucrative partnership with our new client.

Situation number two, I was getting gas at a local station when I was approached by a young man selling waterless car wash, something I could use on occasion. He asked a few rapport building questions at the beginning when he did his cold approach which immediately caught my attention. He was effective because I had no interest in talking to him, but he broke the ice and pulled me into a conversation. He proceeded to talk about the merits of his product and then asked for the sale. His approach was mild with no pressure, but he soon gave up after I told him no three times. As he was walking away, I turned to him and said, “That’s it? You are giving up that easy?” He had no idea who I was or what I do for a living, but I just gave him permission to close on me some more. He didn’t seize the opportunity and I walked away empty handed. There is an unwritten rule in sales, it takes 5 no’s to get one yes! He had two more no’s to go before I handed him the money and he made the sale. He gave up too soon. And what’s worse, it was a product I could have used!

So how can you transfer these real life lessons to your business? Simple, next time you are on a sales call for your company, let the client do the talking. Let them uncover their path to the sale. Given enough time, they will tell you exactly how to sell them. Also, keep in mind, it takes 5 no’s to get one yes, so keep track of the number of rejections you have received before the client finally says yes. However, if you have the faith in your product the way I have faith in mine, don’t give up until they do say yes because I know that Isagenix changes people’s life on a daily basis and believe to the core of my being that everyone should be on this product.

Let me give you an example that is applicable to your business as a multi-level marketing or network marketing professional. In order for your business to grow, you must recruit. No matter how good you are in selling your wares, the power of your residual income potential is built by recruiting and building a downline. How do you make that happen? Simple, commit to a number of calls or contacts you will make daily for the express purpose of building your business. Let’s use a relatively simple and easy to attain number. 10 calls or contacts a day, 5 days a week. That type of commitment will only take about 30 minutes out of your schedule.

Here is what to expect out of those calls.

You will contact three people, out of those three people one will say yes, one will say no, one will say maybe. So, you will schedule one definite appointment to share your business a day or 5 appointments a week. One will definitely reschedule on you, so you will end up doing 4 out of the five appointments. Close just 50% of those appointments and you have added 2 more people to your team that week. Continue doing that week after week and by the end of the year, you will have personally sponsored 104 people.

If that sounds unreasonable, cut that number in half to 52. If that sounds outrageous, cut it in half again to just 26. Still unreasonable? 13? 7? Either way, you have built your team based off of your attitude and effort. Keep the effort up to just 10 calls a day and keep your attitude positive because regardless of what the nay sayers have to say, you will build your team by the sheer number of calls you make. Remember, ATTITUDE and EFFORT, control those and control your destiny! Get started now!
