Last year, Arizona introduced Cherry Lime Rickey based on the result of their “The 20th Anniversary” contest and it was the first Arizona beverage that was created by their fan. The beverage was sold exclusively at 7-Eleven stores. I guess the fans like the beverage so much that Arizona decided to come out more flavors for the Rickey and it’s not just one flavor but three more are added to the Rickey’s line. If you have tried them already, how was it?

New AriZona Sparkling Mango Lime Rickey

There’s a lightly sweetened fruity aroma coming out from the can once you popped it open and you could only detect the subtle mango aroma after you pour the drink into a cup. The color for this mango lime drink did not match the color on the can at all and it’s much lighter than you would expect. As for the taste, the first sip was nothing but a sour fruity taste. There wasn’t any sign of mango at all in the taste. After couple more sips, the taste stayed the same. When your mouth processes the sip, you greeted by this lightly sweetened fruity taste first and then end with this strong sour taste after you swallow down the sip. The lime flavor was easily detected after few sips, but the mango flavor you had to wait a bit because it’s very subtle and you need to let the flavor adds up first. As you drink more, the dryness started to appear in your mouth and there’s a subtle bitterness hint at the end as well.

New AriZona Sparkling Grape Lime Rickey

You could definitely smell the grape aroma coming out from the can right away. The color for this flavor did somewhat matches the color on the can and the texture was the same as other sparkling soda drink. The first sip, you could detect the grape flavor immediately with light sweet taste. After couple sips, the lime started to show up but it didn’t take over the grape flavor at all. Again, you greeted by the light crisp grape flavor first when your mouth processes the sip and ended with sour taste. The sweet and tart tasted balanced well enough to make the drink easy and pleasant to drink. As you drink more, the grape flavor did not add up and it didn’t taste like artificial grape at all. There wasn’t any obvious aftertaste at all for this flavor.

New AriZona Sparkling Lemon Lime Rickey

The lemon lime aroma coming out from the can was very strong and you could smell it from couple inches away. The color and the texture looked just like a normal lemonade drink without carbonation. As for the taste, the first sip taste just like any other lemonade drink. The tart taste was a bit strong after you swallow down the sip. After couple more sips, it’s more convinced that this is a lemonade drink with carbonation. The sweet taste seemed somewhat light compare to other sparkling lemonade drinks. As result, the tart taste was a bit overwhelmed. The only thing for the aftertaste was feeling a bit of dryness in the mouth.

The ingredients for Sparkling Mango Lime Rickey include: Carbonated Filtered Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup(Glucose-Fructose Syrup), Mango Puree, Pear Juice from concentrate, Citric Acid, Lime Juice from concentrate, Natural Flavor, Ascorbic Acid(Vitamin C), Vegetable Juice for color, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, Gum Acacia, and Ester Gum.
The ingredients for Sparkling Grape Lime Rickey include: Carbonated Filtered Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup(Glucose-Fructose Syrup), Pear Juice from concentrate, Red Grape, Citric Acid, Lime Juice from concentrate, Honey, Natural Flavor, Ascorbic Acid(Vitamin C), Sucralose, and Acesulfame Potassium.
The ingredients for Sparkling Lemon Lime Rickey include: Carbonated Filtered Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup(Glucose-Fructose Syrup), Lemon Juice from concentrate, Pear Juice from concentrate, Honey, Lime Juice from concentrate Citric Acid, Lime Juice from concentrate, Honey, Natural Flavor, Ascorbic Acid(Vitamin C), Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium and BETA carotene for color.

Overall, personally I think the grape lime Rickey was the best among the three flavors and I’m wondering if they will come out new flavors for this Rickey line. If you have tried the Cherry Lime and you think it was ok, then you might want to try these as well.

Chocolate Fudge Float is back! Recently, AriZona has resurrected its Chocolate Fudge Float drink from the past with new ingredient and new can design. This sparkling soda drink is made with Bosco Chocolate Syrup and it only contains 50 calories per serving. According to AriZona, “A blast from the past! AriZona new and improved chocolate Fudge Float Soda, a slightly carbonated, chocolate-based soda, is back on the market. We even got skinny at 50 calories per serving for a big chocolate taste without a guilty sacrifice.”

The aroma coming out from the can smelled almost the same as a Yoo-Hoo drink with exception of lighter chocolate scent, but if you smell it after you pour it out then the chocolate scent becomes more recognizable. The color for this fudge float looked close to dark brown and you couldn’t tell the difference if you place it next to a chocolate milk drink but the texture was different in terms of its density because of the carbonation in the drink. As for the taste, the first sip tasted awkward because in my mind I was expecting it to taste just like a normal chocolate milk drink but instead it was sparkling chocolate drink. I had never tasted the original Arizona Chocolate Fudge Float drink before so not sure what to expect. After couple sips, the chocolate flavor seems never lingers in your mouth and makes you want to keep on drinking it. Also, the sweet taste wasn’t even close to the level of sweetness in a normal chocolate milk drink. It’s easy and pleasant to drink. After chugging down half of the bottle, there’s a very subtle hint of bitter taste after you swallow down the sip.

The ingredients for this new and improved AriZona Chocolate lite Fudge Float drink include: Carbonated filtered water, High Fructose Corn Syrup(Glucose-Fructose Syrup), BOSCO Chocolate Syrup(High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, Corn Syrup, Defeatted Cocoa Powder, Lactic Acid), Skim Milk, Cream, Caramel Color, Phosphoric Acid, Natural Flavor, Lactic Acid, Pectin, Sucralose(Splenda Brand), and Acesulfame Potassium.

Overall, it’s a great tasting drink and it would be better if the HFCS wasn’t in the ingredient list. If you have tried Chocolate Fudge Float before and you like it, then you might want to try this one out as well.

Summer has just arrived and Dunkin Donuts introduced two new flavors to their Coolatta drink line for summer sweet. One of the two new flavors is Raspberry Lime Coolatta and I decided to review this flavor first because of the color of the drink. I’ve tried couple Coolatta drinks from Dunkin Donuts in the past and it was somewhat good. I hope this one won’t disappoint me either. According to Dunkin Donuts, “Nothing says summer like frozen, fruity indulgence, courtesy of our new flavored Raspberry Lime® Coolatta®. The perfect companion for summertime adventure.”

The first thing I noticed after I got the drink from Dunkin Donuts employee was the color of this Coolatta looked different than the one on Dunkin Donuts Coolatta poster. The color on the poster leans toward lemon color rather than lime. The aroma smelled like refreshing raspberry with subtle hint of lime scent and the texture was all slush. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted like regular Mountain Dew believe it or not. After couple more sips, you could taste the so called raspberry flavor but it was not convincing. However, the lime flavor was right on the spot. If you sip it from the bottom of the cup where the syrup resides, the strong taste was nothing but a combination of sweet and sour tastes with mild lime flavor. After you let the slushes melt a bit, the taste becomes more enjoyable but that did not mean you could taste the raspberry flavor. Somehow after sipping for half an hour, the taste still reminds of me the Mountain Dew taste.

Ingredients for this Raspberry Lime Coolatta includes: Frozen Neutral Base: Water, Neutral Base (Sugar, Glucose, Fructose, Silicon Dioxide, Malic Acid, Xanthan Gum); Raspberry Lime Flavored Coolatta Concentrate: Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate (Preservatives), Blue 1, Yellow 5, and BHT (Antioxidant). CONTAINS ALLERGENS: Milk, Soy.

Overall, this flavor tasted slightly better than other Coolatta drinks from Dunkin Donuts. By the wayt here’s another new flavor Coolatta called Berry Blast that needs to be reviewed and I hope it tastes good.

I’ve tried Monster Energy Zero Ultra and it tasted great, but what about the Ultra Blue? Well, based on the design of the can, everything looked same except the color is blue instead of white. Also, the top can opening area is not the same as the Zero Ultra. On the can it says, “Aspen, Chamonix, Park City, Whistler, Mammoth…the list goes on. The competition & training circuit has taken the team on some epic snow trips. In honor of these mountain towns comes Ultra Blue.”

The aroma coming out from the can was a bit stronger than the Monster Energy Zero Ultra and they both smelled differently. This refreshing aroma from Ultra Blue smelled somewhat similar to berry and I think it’s the Raspberry. The light blue liquid color of this drink matches the color of the can pretty well and the texture was just you could see that there’s a very thin oily layer on the surface of the drink after you pour it out. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted weird because it had this combination of sweet, sour and fruity taste to it. After couple more sips, it tasted similar to fruity candy after you swallow down the sips. As you drink more and more, the tart tasted seems to add up a bit and the not so convincing raspberry taste started to show up. After chugging down half of the can, it felt like you were eating those sour raspberries. There wasn’t any noticeable aftertaste at all.

Ingredients for this Monster Energy Ultra Blue Energy Drink includes: Carbonated Water, Citric Acid, Erythritol, Natural & Artificial Flavors, Taurine, Sodium Citrate, Panax Genseng Extract, L-Carnitine, L-Tartrate, Caffeine, Sorbic Acid(Preservative), Sucralose, Benzoic Acid (Preservative), Niacinamide(Vitamin B3), Acesulfame Potassium, D-Calcium Pantothenate(Vitamin B5), Salt, D-Gluguronolactone, Guarane Extract, Inositol, Pyridoxine Hydroghloride(Vitamin B6), Blue#1, Red#40, and Cyanogobalamin (vitamin B12). Monster Energy Blend: Taurine, Panax Gingeng Extract, L-Carnitine, Caffeine, Glucuronolactone, Guarana Extract, and Inositol. Caffeine from all sources: 70mg per 8fl oz serving (140mg per can).

Overall, this flavor tasted slightly better than the Zero Ultra if you like the berry taste and I really like the design on the can.

Fruitwater drinks from Coca-Cola! This new line of fruit flavored waters with carbonation is part of Coca-Cola’s Glaceau unit. For those who are not familiar with Glaceau, it’s an unit that makes Vitaminwater and Smartwater. Now, the sweetener used in this Fruitwater is the artificial sweetener sucralose. So far I have found three flavors and each one of them contains vitamins B5 and B6, Zinc, Magnesium and Green Tea Extract. By the way, none of them contains juice.

Sparkling Glaceau Fruitwater Orange Mango Zero Calorie

The aroma coming out from this tall skinny bottle didn’t smelled that refreshing after you pop it open for the first time and the orange mango scent wasn’t convincing either. Now, if you pour it into a cup and then smell it, the aroma smelled totally opposite of what you had experienced in the first place. As for the color and the texture, it looked just like a normal orange flavored carbonated drink. As for the taste, the first sip tasted lightly sweetened with not so convincing orange flavor. After couple more sips, you could sense the light mango flavor with a subtle tart taste, but the flavor just fades away too fast and the taste wasn’t natural at all. Even though both flavors mixed somewhat equally because you could sense both flavors in one sip but it just wasn’t that natural. For the aftertaste, there’s a light dryness feeling left in your mouth for every sip you had and it tends to add up while you were drinking it. After chugging down half of the bottle, the taste becomes more like fake fruity flavor with sugar water drink.

Sparkling Glaceau Fruitwater Watermelon Punch Zero Calorie

The aroma for this flavor was all watermelon and it didn’t matter if you sniffed around the bottle opening for couple seconds. The color for this drink seems to be lighter than other watermelon flavored drinks. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted more like light fruit flavored alcohol drinks and there wasn’t any sign of watermelon in the taste. After couple more sips, somehow the taste reminded me of cucumber flavored soda drink that I had couple months ago and the sweet taste was lighter than the previous Orange Mango flavor. When your mouth processes the sip, you greeted by the tasteless carbonated water first. After you swallow down the sip, you could sense the subtle tart taste with not watermelon punch at all flavor. As the flavor adds up while you were continuously drinking, the fruity flavor tasted towards watermelon side a bit but not convincing. It tasted more like fruity flavored candy. The aftertaste was the same as the previous flavor.

Sparkling Glaceau Fruitwater Strawberry Kiwi Zero Calorie

The aroma for this flavor didn’t smell anywhere close to the flavors stated on the bottle and it’s more close melon scent rather than strawberry kiwi. The color for this flavor was a bit off because logically if you mix red with green you will get some sort of brown color, but instead it’s pink color. As for the taste, first sip tasted lightly sweet with not recognizable fruit flavors. Also, there’s a subtle tart taste at the end after you swallow down the sip. There’s no strawberry kiwi taste at all after couple sips and even after one small cup, but it kept remind me of some melon taste that I had experienced in the past. There’s sweet taste with tart taste that trying to make you think its strawberry after you had half of the bottle. The aftertaste was the same as other two previous flavors.

Overall, I would choose the Orange Mango over the other two flavors simply because it just tasted better. I will stick with Vitaminwater and smart water for now unless they come out a new line of beverage products.

Honest Tea came out a new line of organic juice drinks called Honest Splash last month and finally today I got a chance to try them out. According the Honest Tea, “The new beverage line is an evolution of the Honest Kids® brand, which accounts for more than one-third of Honest Tea’s total business. “Honest Splash is a great fit for older kids, or kids on the go, who need the convenience of a larger, re-closable container. It still meets the needs of parents who want to provide lower-sugar beverages” says Honest Tea’s co-founder and TeaEO Seth Goldman.”

Honest Splash Berry Good Lemonade organic Juice Drink

There’s a berry aroma coming out from the bottle after you open it and it smelled similar to Ocean Spray Cranberry juice but much lighter. The lemonade was a bit difficult to recognize at first but if you sniff around the bottle opening for couple seconds, you could actually smell it. The color for this drink looked similar to apple juice drink if you were looking at it from certain distance. The texture was close to fruit flavored Natural Spring Water. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted sour in a strong way. The next few sips remained me of Ocean Spray Cranberry juice. When your mouth processes the sip, you greeted by the cranberry taste first and then end with this tart taste that came out of nowhere after you swallow down the sip. There’s a light sweet taste that you could recognize after couple sips and same for the lemonade taste as well. After finished half of the bottle and stop for five minutes before your next sip, the taste would be a bit different than your first sip. There’s no strong indication of any recognizable aftertaste for this drink.

Honest Splash Goodness Grapeness Organic Juice Drink

The grape aroma coming out from the bottle was light and you could tell its concord grape by just smelling it even though the aroma was light. The color and texture looked just like any other grape juice beverages that are out there on the market today. The first sip tasted watery grape with very light sweet taste. As you drink more, the taste seemed to stay the same as the first sip. The Concord grape taste was the dominate taste throughout the whole tasting process and the drink itself was easy to chug down. As for the juice part in the drink, I couldn’t taste any juice and it was all watery.

Ingredients for Honest Splash Berry Good Lemonade organic Juice Drink includes: Filtered Water, Organic White Grape Juice from concentrate, Organic Lemon Juice from concentrate, Organic Cranberry Juice from concentrate, Natural Flavors, Organic Natural Flavors, Ascorbic Acid(Vitamin C), Vegetable Juice(for color) and Citric Acid.

Ingredients for Honest Splash Goodness Grapeness Organic Juice Drink includes: Filtered Water, Organic White Grape Juice from concentrate, Organic Concord Grape Juice from concentrate, Natural Flavors, Organic Natural Flavors, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Fruit and Vegetable Juice(for color) and Tartaric Acid.

Overall, both flavors tasted good, but I did pick Goodness Grapeness over the Berry good lemonade simply because it just tasted better. Now there’s another flavor that’s out there that I need to find it.

It seems Kraft Foods is changing their powder drinks to liquid mix drinks. Ever since they came out with Mio liquid Water Enhancer, they are adding Crystal Light liquid Drink mix. Now they are adding Kool-Aid liquid drink mix. As you know, Kool-Aid is usually sold in powder form in the packets and now they are in the liquid form in small bottles. Are they going to change the Kool-Aid mascot too? What about the catch phrase “Oh, Yeah!”?

New Kool-Aid Liquid Drink Mix Orange

The aroma coming out from the bottle did not smell like the natural orange at all and it was more like rotten orange smell. The statement on the bottle which is artificial flavor makes sense after you smell it. The color was obviously orange whether the flavor was natural or not and the texture was same as other liquid drink mixer or enhancer that Kraft Foods had made so far. As for the taste, the first sip tasted lightly sweetened fruity candy. The flavor was hard to recognize in the beginning because that was based on how many squeezes you had put into the water. After few more sips, there’s this unconvincing orange flavor started to show up in the taste along with the dry feeling for the aftertaste. Also, the orange flavor fades pretty quickly in your mouth and it didn’t seem to be adding up the flavor while you were drinking it. If you compare this flavor to the Mio Liquid Water Enhancer Orange flavor, Mio tasted way better than this. However, it tasted better than the Kool-Aid powder drinks.

New Kool-Aid Liquid Drink Mix Cherry

Since the artificial cherry aroma coming out from the bottle smelled a bit heavier than the artificial orange flavor, you could sense the cherry scent a lot better. The color and the texture were the same as the orange flavor except its cherry flavor. As for the taste, first couple sips didn’t taste the true cherry flavor even though the water was all in cherry color with two squeezes. As you drink more and more, about one third of the 16 fl oz bottle, the artificial cherry flavor started to show up. Now if you had more squeezes, then the flavor would appear much faster than mine. Again, the cherry flavor tasted just like cherry fruit candy from grocery store. If you continuously sip 3 times in a row, you could actually sense the tart taste after you swallow down the sip. The dry feeling in your mouth after the sips didn’t appear faster than the orange flavor.

New Kool–Aid Liquid Drink Mix Tropical Punch

This natural tropical punch aroma was hard to detect because it was very light. You had to sniff it around the opening for couple seconds in order for you to smell the fruity scents. The color for this tropical punch looked same as the cherry flavor when you squeeze it to the water, but it’s actually slightly lighter than the cherry flavor if you look at the water after the flavors dissolves it. As for the taste, the first very sip tasted just like tap water with the same amount of squeezes as the previous flavors. The flavor was extremely light and started to wonder if they actually put anything in there. After adding couple more squeezes, you could sense the tropical punch, but it wasn’t convincing at all in the beginning but it tasted better after couple sips. However, that flavor wasn’t natural at all and it’s more like previous flavors. The aftertaste was same as well.

Ingredients for Kool-Aid Liquid Drink Mix Orange includes: Water, Citric Acid, Malic Acid, Gum Arabic, Sucralose(sweetener), contains less than 2% of natural and artificial flavor, Acesulfame Potassium(sweetener), Sodium Citrate, Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate, Yellow 6 , Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate(preservatives).

Overall, if I had to pick one flavor out of these three, then I would pick the Cherry because it just tasted better than the other two flavors. If you don’t know the history of Kool-Aid, you can check it out here.

Look what I’ve found New York Jets Fan, a natural drink from Broadway Joe. I know last season was terrible for the Jets and so far the free agency wasn’t impressive at all, but you can’t go wrong with a drink from Broadway Joe right? He guaranteed the superbowl and now he guarantee this “I’m proud to bring you a healthy vitamin enriched, refreshing drink made with natural flavors, no preservatives and no sugar added. It’s good for you without sacrificing taste. I guarantee it!” Since I’m a Jets fan, I’ve got to try this drink and the guarantee stands.

There’s a Chinese medicine like aroma coming out from the bottle after you pop it open for the first time. If you sniff it for couple seconds, you could sense there’s a subtle rotten apple scent as well, but overall all It’ did not smell natural at all. As for the color of this drink, it wasn’t even close to the orange flavor color. The texture was smooth and clean. As for the taste, the very first sip tasted sour as hell. I was expecting it to be more like orange since the flavor was orange. After couple more sips, all I could tell was the strong sour aftertaste that you get every time you swallow down the sip. There’s no sign of orange flavor in the taste at all and it tasted more like apple juice than orange. The sweet taste in this drink was very light comparing to other natural orange flavored drinks. After finishing half of the bottle, the flavor of this drink still tasted similar to apple juice.
