Every animal has their unique abilities. Your aim is to control over half of the board after the game is done. Everlands has clear directions and a good tutorial mode so you can learn to play fast which is unusual for an Android game. A hexagonal tile grid is used for the game’s graphics (with a unique design for each scene) plus the audio has corresponding sounds based on the selection and the introduction music has a good, relaxing tune.

Controls are entirely touch-based. The player selects an animal tile from a pool of available tiles seen at the bottom of the screen, and selects the place to move the tile. Mistakes are easily fixed, because no move is made until the “make my move” button in the upper right corner is tapped. The game continually gives advice when the star icon is tapped. The advice function is fairly intelligent but does allow players to win “too easily”.

The game is actually a story mode that has 20 missions of moderate difficulty. There’s also a two-player match mode. There are extra scenarios. You can play with different maps, against different levels of AI. This is probably the only drawback of this well put together game: upon finishing the story mode you can do one of two things – find an opponent to play you in hot seat mode or exit the game. In my opinion online play would make this game much more attractive. Get Everlands for your phone or Everlands HD for your tablet.

TCH: Coins Hunter by [9-project] is a tilt based game that will make you say “Arrgh!!!”, either because you are really enjoying the pirate theme or because you are stuck on a very challenging level. If you’ve just completed Labyrinth and are ready to take on a new challenge or have bought your first phone with an accelerometer and want to test it out, Coins Hunter is definitely the game you are looking for.

As you may have already guessed the object of the game is to collect coins. Sounds simple enough right? Well, it is the first few levels, but then you learn that you can only collect coins of a certain color with a ball of the same color. Other difficulties include limited time, attracting and repelling magnets, crawling beetles, teleporting vortexes, ball color changing paint stains, walls made of breakable glass bubbles and just tricky situations based on coin and ball colors.

The game has beautifully drawn level backgrounds, great graphics and animations. It also sounds great thanks to the spot-on sounds and a catchy soundtrack. The gameplay is smooth and the physics are very accurate. That allows you to “feel” the ball and complete the hardest tasks. You can always recalibrate using the options which are accessible from the main menu and even during gameplay. Don’t be greedy and leave the vibration on as it will bring the game to life.

Not everybody has the steady hands of a brain surgeon or the patience of a Buddhist monk, so it’s OK if you get stuck on some level. Just remember that it’s not your phones fault and smashing it won’t do any good. Practice makes perfect. Once you complete the last 2 of 15 levels available in the lite version your ego will make you hungry for more. Luckily, the paid version has 100 levels, no ads and will only set you back $1.95.

Pocket Soccer [by RasterGrid Entertainment] is an adaptation of a popular board game called button football. Now, I’ve said I don’t like soccer before, but fortunately this game is more similar to pool and Cestos. The soccer theme combined with fun physics makes it a very attractive and addictive game.

This game has 2 available game modes and a pending training mode. There are of course Single Player and Two Player modes. Two Player mode allows you to play Pocket Soccer with a friend, however, you will have to share the phone you will be playing on. Single player mode has 3 difficulty levels to choose from. I recommend choosing Easy the first couple of times, so that you don’t get frustrated about loosing.

Each player has 3 big balls with their country’s flag. Your mission is to throw the big balls at the small soccer ball so that it goes into the opposing team’s goal. You can only throw one big ball at a time and only when it’s your turn. You have 5 seconds to make a move and then it’s your opponent’s turn. Score 10 points to win the game.

The graphics are simple, but the game looks good. The gameplay is smooth and the physics are very good as well. Music is only played while you are in the main menu and the very realistic cheering crowed replaces it during the game. That combined with all other sounds create a very realistic soccer like atmosphere, which makes the game come to life.

You can unlock new fields to play on, new soccer balls and even new cheering soccer crowds. These features are available in the main menu of the game along with your achievements, a tutorial on how to play the game and audio settings. Pocket Soccer has a very clean and easy to navigate menu and definitely adds to the overall experience of the game.

Whether you’re a soccer fan or not you should definitely check this game out. Pocket Soccer feels complete, like an A+ school project. The only suggestion I have is for the next version to have a multiplayer mode as well. Get your free version of Pocket Soccer and enjoy.

Reckless Racing [by polarbit] is one of the best racing games for Android I have ever seen. As soon as you see the high quality animated background of the menu, you know these guys mean business. This game has everything your heart desires and will bring out your inner redneck no matter how hard you fight it.

This game has both single player and multiplayer modes, so it’s twice as fun. In multiplayer you can host or join a local game, or find a game on the internet. You will need an account to play online. I know I don’t like registering either, but it’s pretty easy and quite worth it. Online gameplay is just as smooth as Single player mode gameplay.

There are 3 types of races in Single player mode; Dirty Rally, Hot Lap and Delivery. Dirty Rally is a standard race and it my favorite, Hot Lap is basically a time trial challenge and in Delivery mode you earn money by picking up goods at various places on the map and delivering them to their drop off points.

You can choose from 7 original tracks and 7 reverse tracks to race on. Each track is unique from type of road surface to time of day and weather conditions, so you it won’t get boring for a while. Besides that, there are also 3 medals to win on each track and you can compete for the best time on the track with other players thanks to the Online Leaderboards. Whether you are a SUV or muscle car type of person, you won’t be disappointed because there are 8 different cars to choose from. Each car has a colorful, stereotypical character to go with it. All cars have their strengths and weaknesses so it’s up to you to choose the perfect one for the job.

Even though the graphics aren’t that great, there are a lot of details in the way the cars interact with the game environment that makes up for it. There are lots of “hittable” objects, as well as dust flying from under your wheels as you drift around the track, the ability to fly off the track while getting some “air time”, the dynamics of the cars and more. Great music and sounds, good graphics, smooth gameplay off- and online, A LOT of playing options, a very easy to understand menu structure and lots of fun details throughout the game make Reckless Racing worth the $4.99 price tag. Don’t forget about the future updates that have to do with new cars and tracks you will get for free.

Deadly Chambers [by Battery Powered Games, LLC] is a 3D OTS shooter for Android. Such a game is rare for android phones, so it makes us even happier when we see one. Will it become an android classic like DOOM did for PC? With good graphics, smooth gameplay, weapons, monsters and a great presentation, it sure looks like it.

As soon as you load the game, you instantly get that “proper” game feeling. The menu captures the theme of the game pretty well, with dark imagery and scary music. You can adjust sound, video or gameplay settings from the very comprehensive menu. If it is your first time playing, you have no choice, but to start a new game and leave Quick Play until you unlock at least one of five locked games.

After you choose 1 of 4 difficulty levels, you are shown a quick How to Play tutorial. The controls are pretty basic and not hard to figure out even if you skip the tutorial. Then you see a map displaying the 5 levels of the game. You start out with a 9mm pistol and a Tommy gun, but this is just a little part of the 15 weapons available throughout the game. The first time I played it I was impressed by the fact that I can move my character with a touch sensitive joystick like they have on iPhone games. It certainly progress, but as you will see when you actually try to shoot someone, that aiming and walking is kind of tricky. The creators tried to fix it by allowing players to switch from 3^rd person to 1^st person shooter view as well as the ability to change the camera angle for a better view.

The game hooks you by constantly throwing weird looking monsters at you, while you are in the process of unlocking new weapons, finding keys for doors and you will be surprised when you see how quickly you encounter the first “boss”. The music provides a good atmosphere, but the sound effects could have been better, too simple for my taste.If you an average guy like Dr. Chambers (the cleverly named character you are playing in this game) with a hunger for monster shooting adventure, with a great atmosphere, you should definitely fork out $2.49 for Deadly Chambers and enjoy yourself.

NinJump [by Backflip Studios Inc.] speaks highly of itself in the description on the Android Market, as do other android game reviewing websites (that must never be named) and so will we. As you go through the process of finding it on the market, then downloading and installing it, and finally playing it, your inner awesome-o-meter (no South Park joke intended) gets filled until it is finally full and you utter in a cool guy voice the word “Awesome”. Unless you are a person who doesn’t like ninjas with red headbands who run up walls, avoiding various obstacles, jumping from one wall to another slashing stuff with your sword, then you shouldn’t download it, since you are obviously a girl and have no business going through awesome games on your boyfriend’s smartphone.

The fearless ninja is trying to get to the top of the building by running up two endless walls while avoiding balconies of some sort, as well as other ninjas who are trying to get to the bottom of the building. This sort of makes you feel like that asshole who is trying to run up the down escalator. There are also squirrels, birds and shuriken/dynamite throwing ninjas in your way. Your job is to use this to your advantage by tapping on the screen with one of your favorite fingers to hit 3 of those things in a row, which will get you a boost up the wall. If you are starting to feel like everything in this game is against you, remember that there are protective shields all over these walls, which will take a hit of anything you throw at it (again, no pun intended).

I was pleasantly surprised by the graphics; the game is beautifully drawn down to the last detail and while keeping with the Japanese theme of the game, has its own style. The animation is very smooth even on my Motorola Droid and looks fantastic, especially when you get the boost from killing 3 blue birds. Then you look like a ninja-angel messiah who wants to punish the blue headband wearing ninjas.

The sounds deserve a whole new paragraph in this review. I mean, they are just amazingly spot on. My favorites are; the hawk like cry when you kill a bird, the chattering/fuffing sound when you turn into a squirrel after killing 3 of them and of course the way you scream when you fall down is just brilliant. All sounds are clear and don’t interfere with the music; which is also pretty good, especially in the beginning when you hear that classic sound you know and love, but have no idea what it is. Great job, sound guys from Backflip Studios, A+!!!

NinJump is a must have and lucky for us it’s free! It is a great looking, addictive game with smooth gameplay, rich sounds and a pleasant atmosphere. That is the “genius” part of it and the fact that you only need one finger to play it is the “simple” part, which go hand-in-hand. There is also an online leaderboard, courtesy of Papaya. You can also post your highscore on Facebook, Twitter or even email a friend if you are feeling really proud.
