Mobile brawler DCKO is an officially licensed game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC. It will bring fast, arcade-style fighting. The roster already includes Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Constantine, Superman, and plenty more DC legends.

One of the biggest things is that the game is a multiplayer. A real-time PvP experience, you’ll be facing other players live. You can challenge people from around the world, climb leaderboards, unlock new abilities, stat boosts, and other upgrades.

Every character will be playable in both single-player and multiplayer. You’ll get to build teams of two characters and jump into 2-on-2 tag battles where swapping teammates, chaining combos together, and using assists are all part of the game.

Even though a mobile brawler, DCKO has a full PvE mode with its own story. The campaign throws you against Ra’s al Ghul’s League of Assassins, Amazo’s robot army, and even the demon hordes of Trigon. Clearing those missions earns you XP and currency so you can level up your characters.

As you keep playing, you’ll also unlock new content, including costume variants from the long history of the DC Universe. You’ll be able to earn or purchase multiple outfits for popular DC Super Heroes and DC Super-Villains as you progress.

What does Drop Fake’s mobile brawler DCKO look like?

The studio is using a Neo-Comic art style, so everything looks straight out of a comic book with vibrant colours and flashy super move animations. The fights take place across famous DC locations too, including Themyscira, the Batcave, the Lazarus Pits, and more.

It’s funny, I know, and so do the devs!

Fish Them All! tells you there are 10 million fish in the sea, then says go catch every single one of them. Most games would never throw a number that massive onto a progress bar because it looks completely impossible at first. But Fish Them All! does it anyway.

It hands you a fishing rod, gives you just three buttons to work with, and lets you figure it out. You drop your hook from a boat, catch whatever fish are swimming underneath, and reel them in. Then, you sell your catch, spend the money on upgrades, and jump straight into another run. Every fishing trip only lasts around 30 to 60 seconds.

As for upgrades, there’s a big skill tree. There, you can boost your movement speed, make your hook bigger, increase the number of fish you catch in a single cast, and eventually unlock automated helpers. Yep, divers, drones, and even UFOs can jump in and help you pull fish out of the sea.

As you keep upgrading everything, your runs get faster, you catch more fish every time. The total number you’ve caught shoots up, and the giant 10 million target starts looking less impossible. Take a look at the game below.

You’ll run into sardines, yellowtail, octopus, coelacanths, sharks, and plenty more. Although it has the traits of an idle game, I warn you that Fish Them All! is not an idle game. It has to be actively played from start to finish. The game is free to play on the Google Play Store.

Best Android PS1 Emulator

We’ve detailed a few of the major players out there.

DuckStation 

DuckStation is very compatible with the massive PlayStation library. Only minor graphical issues occur in some games, with only a few titles crashing or refusing to boot. If you want to check out the compatibility list, click here. 

DuckStation has a simple-to-use UI and a ton of features. As well as multiple renderers, the emulator is able to upscale PS1 game resolution, fix texture wobble and play games in true widescreen. 

Furthermore, the emulator supports per-game settings. This allows you to set controls and rendering settings for individual ROMs, which is a godsend. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! 

In some of the emulator’s best features, you’ll be able to overclock the PS1 you’re emulating or rewind the game to fix mistakes without save states.  

If you’re going to pick only one emulator for the PS1, we’d suggest Duckstation.

FPse

FPSe uses OpenGL to provide some brilliant graphics considering it’s an emulator on Android. This emulator makes it easier than ever to emulate your favourite PS1 games onto your Android device. It’s important to note that loading the bios is recommended when using the FPSe.

External controller support is a work in progress, but functional so far. There’s even VR compatibility underway. (If you can handle that with PS1 graphics.) The FPSe has force feedback, allowing you to immerse yourself even more in the game.

If you like it, it might be worth also checking out the emulator developers’ sequel of a sort to FPSe, FPSeNG.

EmuBox

The EmuBox emulator has the ability to run a wide variety of old ROMs! You can save these ROMs up to 20 times too. Also, if you love taking screenshots during gameplay, you’re in luck! Using the EmuBox emulator allows you to take a plethora of screenshots of every game. Not only that, but the EmuBox can also work with other consoles such as the NES, and the GBA.

If you’re a fan of customisation, you’ll be happy to know that you can customise the EmuBox settings to ensure that every game performs well. Playing on Android means you’ll be using the touchscreen, but EmuBox supports external devices. You can use a wired and wireless controller to accompany you during your gaming session!

This is a jack of all trades, so perhaps expect a little less in terms of dedicated PS features. Some users have complained it’s a bit ad-heavy, too, so you might want to try it out and see if it suits you.

ePSXe for Android

A premium offering, though not all that expensive at £2.99, ePSXe is one of the biggest names in PS1 emulation, and the Android version does benefit from coming from that venerable stable. (It also means avoiding the ads that come with some of the emulators on this list.) It has a 99% compatibility rate with games and comes with some fun options for multiplayer gaming.

While it’s one of the older ones on this list, releasing in 2012, ePSXe is still regularly updated, moreso than Duckstation.

You can even play split screen and recapture the couch co-op of yesteryear.. if you have a reasonably-sized screen and a friend close to hand. This is also a good option if your device seems to be struggling with Duckstation, or you’re running into compatability issues.

Feed the Family

The best way to get energy is to feed the family. Just like in real life, you need to eat food to get the energy to do stuff. So, give them regular meals!

You can also earn energy just by collecting food, like mushrooms and berries. If you’re running low, check out the island for food to gather.

Wait

You get free energy at regular intervals, so if you’ve run out and you’ve used all of the links above, the best thing to do is wait. Just don’t wait too long, as once you’ve hit your energy cap, you won’t earn any more.

Level Up Your House

To earn more energy while you wait, you need to increase your energy cap. You do this by levelling up your house. Prioritise this when upgrading buildings, as this will give you more energy to play with in the long run.

Increase Your Player Level

Each time you increase your player level, you earn rewards and these can include energy. Quite a lot, too!

We described its predecessor as “an all round high quality experience with a lot of helpful touches” – but let’s take a look at what we think of this follow up, shall we?

Out of the box

First impressions are that it’s not the biggest tablet, but still has a solid heft. It’s larger than your biggest smartphone, but noticeably smaller (at 9.06 inches) than many of the other tablets in the space such as the iPad.

There’s a reason though, and that’s because this is a tablet that’s squarely aimed at gamers. 

Its smaller size means that it’s perfectly suited for long gaming sessions, and it’s ably supported by a speedy processing chip, improved sound, and a liquid cooling system that means it can handle extended sessions with ease.

In terms of looks it’s a fairly straightforward affair, without the usual RGB lightshow most REDMAGIC units have provided us with in the past. There is a black band across the back where the liquid cooling technology is shown via a channel of blue fluid, but that’s it for eye-catching aesthetics.

Which we’re fine with, as it feels a solid piece of kit regardless of any pointless extra bells and whistles. There’s a lovely brushed aluminium chassis, curved corners, and chunky buttons.

The smaller size, as previously mentioned, means the Astra 2 feels lovely to hold too – not the overwhelming behemoth of most gaming focused tablets. And at 363g it never became uncomfortable for us to hold for extended periods.

There’s also a helpful second USB-C port, which allows you to charge the device while also linking up to an external display or other accessory. 

How about performance?

Let’s start with the screen, which is arguably the most impressive asset of the device. The OLED panel provided us with vibrant colours and bold blacks whatever type of title we threw at it.

The Astra 2 display is 2.4k and boasts a refresh rate of 185 Hz, impressive stuff considering its 9 inch size. 

Nothing we tried on the Astra 2 made it feel like the tablet was struggling. Videos and images look incredibly defined, and they sound great too thanks to dual 1227 stereo speakers, DTS:X Ultra certification, as well as N’Bass acoustic enhancement material. 

All this worked very well on online games in particular, as we never missed a gunshot or essential sound effect at any point. We could hear everything in crystal clear clarity, via the unit’s speakers or whether toting a pair of headphones.

How is it for gaming?

It’s no surprise that this tablet created with gamers in mind felt like a pleasure to use for any title we chucked its way. Not surprising, considering it’s powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon chipset the 8 Elite Gen 5, boasting 6 cores and a clock speed of up to 4.6 GHz.

What this means in plain English is that no title currently available on Google Play can cause the Astra 2 many problems. 

We ran Call of Duty: Mobile, PUBG Mobile, Diablo Immortal and Wuthering Waves at their highest available settings, and this didn’t show any signs of sweating. By which we mean – no noticeable slowdown.

There’s also the liquid cooling system which helps support long play sessions, 8,300 mAh fast-charging battery that lasted us for several hours on a single charge, and even a 9 MP camera on the front and a 13 MP on the rear. Not top of the line cameras, but useful for in-game video chatting. 

Then there’s the red Magic Key switch at the top of the device, which allows you to activate your “Game Space.” This is where a gaming takeover of your screen is activated, allowing you to see all the titles you have available.

Here you can create performance profiles, adjust system settings and controls, and much more. A lot is not hugely useful, but some of it will be invaluable if you’re obsessed with a specific game.

So overall the Astra 2 is definitely an upgrade on its predecessor, but we’re not sure it’s enough of a major step up for you to purchase if you already own the original.

If you’re looking for a gaming tablet and don’t already own one this is undoubtedly the best in its class though.

You play as Felix Fandor, a crisis negotiator

The people messaging you aren’t stereotypical criminals. They’re just regular people who did everything they were told to do, followed the rules, filled out paperwork, got ignored by the system, and eventually hit their breaking point. Now they’ve made one desperate decision, and you’re the person on the other end of the conversation.

You’ll get leaked documents, photos, and voice notes that act as evidence. You have to look through everything before replying. Figuring out what’s really going on is part of the job, and the details you notice can completely change how you approach the conversation.

Everything happens inside a realistic SMS-style messaging interface with typing indicators and delivered and read receipts. There are even moments where the connection can switch from secure messaging to plain SMS during a crisis.

Under the hood, there are hidden Trust and Anxiety meters constantly changing based on what you say. NEGOTIATOR: Choice Text Game is all about consequences instead of right answers, so your choices decide where each story ends.

Every case plays out in a single sitting, and once you make a decision, that’s it. You don’t get to reload because you suddenly realised your reply sounded terrible. You just live with whatever happened.

NEGOTIATOR: Choice Text Game has multiple endings for every case

The game launches with multiple episodes. Episode 1, Silent Cargo, takes you to a pharmaceutical warehouse where a desperate father is holding two hostages. Episode 2, The Bank Raid, drops you into First Meridian Bank with eleven hostages and a veteran who has no demands.

Another one, Episode 3, Lost in Translation, is set at Meridian Harbour. A detained ship, an unpaid crew, and three different languages make an already tense situation even more complicated. After each ending, your skills improve based on six qualities across all cases, including things like Empathy, Tactical thinking, and Composure.

Drop and merge colourful pan dulce in PancitoMerge

The game is developed by Antonio Uribe aka FayerDev, who’s also the co-founder of Hyperbeard. FayerDev has released titles like My Dear Farm, Ranita Fishing, and Arco prior to this. Apparently, the idea for the game started when the dev came across some illustrations of pan dulce by a friend.

You look at PancitoMerge, and the smell of freshly baked bread from a small artisanal bakery instantly hits you. That’s how good the art is. Every bread, from colourful conchas to buttery cuernitos, is based on real treats you can find in local bakeries, celebrating the warmth, traditions, and creativity of Mexican baking.

It’s a falling block puzzle game, set in a flour-dusted little world inspired by a neighbourhood panadería. You keep dropping breads into a bag, hoping identical ones will bump into each other and merge into bigger, higher-level treats.

Every five drops, a customer shows up asking for a specific bread. If you’ve got it sitting somewhere in your bag, you can click or tap on that bread to hand it over. You don’t have to, though. You can ignore the request entirely, and five drops later they’ll ask for something else instead.

Then, there’s the in-game compendium, which supplies info about every bread you’ve discovered in your bakery. You’ll unlock new bakeries with different themes, breads, and customers. Right now, there are three bakeries.

The first is a traditional Mexican bakery, the second has a Day of the Dead theme, and the third mixes Mexican and Japanese influences in a JapoMexa bakery. There are twelve different breads each. Here we’ve detailed each of the races.

Human

Just your average person. Nothing special in any particular direction.

Shinobi

Are ninjas a different species? Well, they are in Shindo Life. The Shinobi race comes with a triple jump, an extra dash, and a bomb throw move. Crazy they’ve inherited throwing bombs from their parents.

Shark

These blue-haired aquatic humanoids have gills, and abilities tied to water. Their speed doubles in water and they can regain Chi by standing in it, handy if you can pull a fight over to a water source… or start one near one. They also get their own special combat move. DNA acquired from Deuce Wanziame.

Puppet

No strings attached, these wooden creatures are hard to catch. Puppets get two directional dashes. They can fire strings like a grappling hook. Despite appearing to be made of wood, these guys don’t burn. Handy. DNA acquired from Ailee Minakami.

Snake

These scaly individuals have powers relating to poison. Poison actually heals them. There’s a snake-based teleport move, and an ability that lets you hitch a ride in a serpent’s jaws. Makes them pretty slippery, and tricky to deal with. DNA acquired from Kabu Cobra.

Celestial

A rare and pretty sought-after species. Despite the angelic name, these creatures spot their own pair of horns. They get their own special combo, extra MD, and a really strong block. Most fun, they can fly for a short time. DNA acquired from Kagoku.

• If the server list is up, you might want to close it, as it can obscure some of the UI.
• The code entry box is in the top right corner of the screen. Type or paste codes in here.
• Hit ‘Enter’.

What Good Are Shindo Life Codes?

Codes often give RELL Coins, you can use this in the RC Shop, available from the Edit menu. You can use these to buy accessories, and even Bloodlines, though purchasing these are often limited to a short period of time.

Codes can also give Spins. Spins are what let you reroll your Elements or Bloodlines on the edit page, giving you a shot at some of the rare and more sought-after powers.

Shawarma X Paulie’s Event – July 18th

Scary Shawarma Kiosk The Anomaly and Night Shift At Paulie’s have collabed together for a special event. According to the event page:

“We are excited to announce a partnership with the Paulie Parmesan’s restaurant chain. Soon, you’ll be working alongside your new colleagues at both restaurants. New challenges, familiar faces and plenty of surprises will await you. As our businesses grow closer, strange incidents have already begun to happen.

Employees report new issues with the animatronics after closing time, security cameras capture new figures around the kiosk and some employees are missing… But don’t worry! Every opportunity comes with a risk, and we‘re sure that you, our employees can handle those issues!”

You can access the new content by calling the number on the Paulie Parmesan card by the phone. Terrible time to get a second job.

Backrooms And Bloggers Update – June 5th

Two new additions to the game arrived on June the 5th, as Kane Pixels’ Backrooms hit theaters.

Backrooms

Look for the customer with the flashlight and follow him behind the bus shelter to visit The Backrooms. You might need to make a trade to leave. Just remember what you’re good at.

Bloggers

Keep an eye out for the blogger couple who might show up to rate the kiosk. They might just be some regular people there for shawarma… but be careful. They could be a little too in sync. Watch them around the time you hand over the first wrap.
