I know that Android usually makes us all think about little green puppies and robotic rainbows, but sometimes, things can’t always be so bright and sunny. Maybe your girlfriend just dumped you. Maybe you lost the chess tournament. Shoot, maybe you live in the South (like me!) and just wish it would rain once in a while!

If you find yourself in similar circumstances or just enjoy the doom and gloom a good thunderstorm brings, you’ve got to check out Thunderstorm Live Wallpaper.

Thunderstorm Live Wallpaper is an incredibly slick, detailed, and fairly realistic depiction of Mother Nature at her finest, and it runs really well, to boot.

Fortunately, you’re not stuck with a one-trick pony, as Thunderstorm Live Wallpaper boasts a pretty full settings menu. From there, you can set cloud count, bolt frequency, wind speed, camera speed, and bolt color. They’re all little things, but they’re the kind of little thing that helps you make your wallpaper experience both unique and totally your own.

I mean, shoot, red lightning? That’s too cool.

Thunderstorm Live Wallpaper is free in the Market, but there’s also a donate version for 99 cents, if you’re so inclined to show the developer some love. If you like lightning, storms, or are just looking for a new wallpaper to use, I’d definitely check out Thunderstorm Live Wallpaper.

A few more pictures as well as download links are after the break.

It’s something Motorola Droid X owners have been teased with before. But this time around, it could turn out quite well. Although it remains unreleased as of now, it looks like Motorola Droid X owners may soon be getting a chance to load up CyanogenMod 7 on their devices courtesy of @cvpcs. No, the bootloader hasn’t been unlocked but thanks to some handy work making use of 2nd.init CyanogenMod 7 will now run on top of the Motorola kernels in the Droid X.

As with anything of this nature, some bugs are still present but it’s surely only a matter of time before they get worked out. Some of the things that may or may not work currently are: GPS, 3G/data, camera, camcorder and bluetooth audio while radio, WiFi, USB, charging, sensors, lights, vibration, standard bluetooth are listed as working. The next few days will provide some more details but until then, jump into the Android Central forums to discuss it some more.

This hasn’t been fully confirmed yet, but it seems plausible, given that all previous Motorola Froyo builds have been susceptible to this exploit.

The Motorola Droid X2 already had its User Manual leaked recently when we also learned that it will be in stores in May 26 with fulfillments beginning as early as May 19.

To support all that, Motorola’s official Support Page for the DROID X2 is now live with plenty of articles, tips and frequently asked questions to get you started. With a 4.3-inch screen, a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2-powered device with qHD resolution and eight-megapixel camera, currently running Android 2.2 Froyo but probably shipping with 2.3 Gingerbread, it will be the first dual-core smartphone on Verizon.

A rumor last week had Motorola’s Droid X² scheduled for release today. That’s one rumor that’s definitely fizzled, but with the arrival of Droid X² dummy units at retail stores, we’ve still been thinking that a release would be soon to pass. New leaked documents now suggest that retails sales of the Motorola smartphone will commence on May 26.

While you’ll have to wait until the end of the month to get the phone in stores, there’s a chance that Verizon might open up pre-orders in advance (we haven’t heard of any such plans), in which case the X² could start shipping out to customers on May 19, likely arriving several days before the retail launch.

The specs we came across for the X² paint the picture of a powerful dual-core handset, but one that will ship running Android 2.2. The images of the phone included in the leaked launch documents show what looks like it could be Gingerbread running on the smartphone, but that could just be the effect of the phone’s MotoBLUR UI. If the X² does come out with Froyo as expected, we can almost assuredly plan to see an update arrive this summer, if not sooner.

For most of us, May 12 will be Google I/O hangover day — that’s the day we recover from the tsunami of Android-related news. For Verizon, however, it’s the day they get to unleash even more droids upon the country. According to Droid-Life, eight days from today, Big Red will officially announce the Tegra 2-packing Motorola Droid X2 and the 4G-capable LG Revolution. Right after that — on May 26 — the company will also announce the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

As of right now, Verizon’s website shows more than 20 Android devices. The carrier’s Android lineup is getting so big it’s getting quite hard to keep track of all of them. We’re still waiting for the Droid Charge to arrive, and the wireless carrier is already getting ready to release even more Android phones. I never thought I’d say this but, you’re going too fast Verizon. Slow down please, for our sanity’s sake.
