Dealing with Construction: Tips and Tricks for a Less Stressful Kitchen Remodel

Kitchen remodels are notorious for adding stress to homeowners’ lives- workers going in and out of the house, dust everywhere, inaccessible kitchen appliances, and not having everything in its usual place. Some homeowners may think there’s no way to get around the chaos, but in reality, by planning ahead and communicating with your design team, you can minimize the disarray and sail through your kitchen remodel with the least amount of anxiety possible.

What We’re Thankful for This Year

In the world of design, we’re fortunate enough to witness new trends, new tools and new techniques that enable us to better serve our clients in their kitchen and bath remodeling projects. With the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we took a little time to reflect on the changes we’ve seen in design this year and the ones we’re thankful for, plus why we’re thankful for our wonderful clients and the work we get to do with you.

How to Prioritize Your Kitchen Wish List

When planning your dream kitchen remodel, it’s easy to get carried away with everything you’d love to see in your kitchen renovation - restaurant grade appliances, a breakfast nook, an extra sink of prep-it can be difficult to narrow down your kitchen wish list into a reality.

Vive La Différence - Trends Publishing Features Award-Winning Hinsdale Kitchen

From Trends Publishing's Kitchen Trends Magazine, Summer 2014, this six page feature explains how an award-winning Hinsdale, IL kitchen design and remodel by Janice Teague, CKD / CBD of Drury Design transformed the family's living space into a kitchen fit for a professional chef with a French flair.

Planning Makes Perfect: How to Design Your Perfect Kitchen Floor Plan

Before writing a wish list - shopping for materials, visiting appliance showrooms and even talking to a general contractor a design concept must be established. Deriving from a well-thought-out floor plan a design concept explicitly communicates the intentions of the space.

Knock Out Your Kitchen Remodel with a Punch List

Throughout a kitchen remodel, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with “one last thing” syndrome, or trying to keep a running tally of all the small side projects you have to finish before your kitchen remodel can be considered complete. To keep track of everything, your designer will keep an ongoing “punch list” throughout the installation.

Making the Grade: Creating a Homework Space for Your Child

Now that school’s back in session, your home is probably overrun with backpacks, school books, pencil cases, folders, permission slips, and more. To help contain the clutter and keep your kids on top of their schoolwork, it’s a great idea to create a homework space for your children so that they have a dedicated space to sit down, sort through papers, and finish their homework every evening.
