5th Grade Parent Meeting – Transition to OVMS

Please join us as we share information about Oak Valley MS including our vision, curriculum, and programs. You will be able to meet teachers, parents, students, and support team for an evening of information. The meeting will take place in the MPR at Del Sur Elementary on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 6:30-8:00pm. A detailed flyer will be sent home with your child.

Integrated Preschool Opportunity

Poway Unified School District is pleased to offer for the 2012-2013 school year, Integrated Preschool Programs at Pomerado Elementary and Deer Canyon Elementary schools. They will serve 3 to 5 year old children with and without special needs. A general education developmental curriculum will include both large and small group circle time, play, and language activities. Other skills and activities that are introduced are music and rhythm; self help skills, thinking skills, language arts, social skills, number concepts, gross and fine motor skills. The children who have special needs may experience difficulty in one or more of the following areas: speech and language, play skills, and social skills. The success of the integrated program greatly depends on the inclusion of children without special needs who act as models as all children learn together. Currently, there are openings available and registration will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. If interested, please contact Barbie Shrier at 858-521-2821.

Please donate BRAND NEW stuffed animals for the PICU at Balboa Naval Medical Center for children undergoing surgical procedures. The last donations were delivered before the holidays and were much appreciated! The donation box is in the lobby and the collection will continue throughout the year! Get ready for the dance of your life at our Hawaiian luau family dance on Friday, February 10th from 5:30 – 8:00 pm! Dress in your Hawaiian beach wear and bring your dancing shoes! State of the School Address and Dinner with Mr. Johnson

Please plan on joining me on Wednesday evening January 25 beginning at 6:00 pm for our general PTA/Foundation meeting. Following the formal business of our PTA and Foundation, I will be discussing the current status of our school and will discuss our collective future. I will be discussing the following topics – our school budget issues including future class size projections and intervention support, our student support programs, volunteering at Del Sur, Technology, music, art, and science on our campus. The school will be providing pizza for dinner and child care prior to this meeting. Dinner will be served from 5:45 pm to 6:30 pm. Then our formal meeting will begin at 6:30 pm. I am hoping for a large attendance at this meeting. Your voice and knowledge of our current status and future status is extremely important to me. Please RSVP by January 20th to cdavis@powayusd.com and indicate number of people attending and if child care is needed. Due to limited resources, childcare will only be offered for elementary school age children only. (Update 1/23: Childcare is full.)
