There is sure to be significant changes yet but here are some new things that are likely to feature.

Log in using your face:

Magnetic and temperature sensors, microphones, cameras, GPS and accelerometers will be commonplace on PC’s by 2012, allowing Windows 8 to interact with the user like never before.

One of the new features is the use of face recognition to verify your identity.

A secure password store could also eliminate the need for remembering log in detail across the web.

Share between devices:

Microsoft wants to make your Windows user-centric instead of machine-centric allowing you to take your preferences and settings with you when you move from PC to Laptop to Tablet.

Kill viruses and keep your data:

Viruses can be a real pain and often require you to restore your PC which in turn results in losing all preferences and applications. Windows 8 will retain these files using User Account Migration.

Use Tablets:

Windows 8 will support touch screen tablet PC’s and use of location awareness and accelerometers.

HD over wireless:

Integration between various technologies will enable the user to choose TV shows and films online on your laptop/PC and effortlessly stream to any TV in the home.

Instant boot:

Recent polls have suggested that users consider start up times to be one of the most important things they look for in a good PC. Along with various tweaks, Windows 8 will include a new ‘Off’ mode which will integrate the advantages of Hibernate and Shutdown.

Windows app store:

Details are still stark on this but it is said that a Windows application store will be integrated into the OS.

So, based on the above, would you consider Windows 8?

uTorrent is constantly getting updated, and getting many new features. This time, this version makes uTorrent even better, and user friendly, with a new interface. Besides the new look, the application brings several new features. We now also have a feed option, so uTorrent can be used as a feed reader aswell. All great news that position this torrent client increasingly high on the user’s preferences.

Features:

Multiple simultaneous downloads.

Schedule tasks.

Limiting speed for file or for the entire torrents.

Restoration download after broken connection.

Download from RSS.

Support for Mainline DHT.

Support for popular protocols external

Support UPnP for Windows XP only

Free Apps Market

This new build of version 3.0 comes with a new graphical interface, providing an integrated experience. This means that you can now within uTorrent’s window, search for torrents you need and has a style of Market where you can find several free apps. So you can search for free, legal apps (like OpenOffice, Virtualbox) from uTorrent.

This alpha version of uTorrent is only available on Windows, so Mac and Linux users can’t check out the new improved uTorrent yet. If you’re on Windows, make sure to download the testing build here.

Everyone is all too familiar with Google Apps. Some of most known ones are:

Google Mail

Google Docs

Google Calendar

Google Maps

Picasa

Google Reader

Google Buzz

Google Wave

Google Voice

YouTube

And the list goes on.

I, am quite fond with many of them, and get a good dose of them all, but it is difficult to keep up with and manage all of them.

Today we’ll be taking a look at an online application called Gpanion- G standing for Google- that apparently claims to be the easiest way to work with your Google Apps. Let’s see if they live up to their slogan:

So, when we go to their homepage , we are introduced to many Google apps nicely laid out in the center of the page. The icons are big and simple, and they also are links to the Google applications. Clicking on any of them will thereby take you to the relevant Google site. The region with the big icons is known as the dashboard.

Now, Gpanion efficiently organizes all applications into to categories- My Apps, and More Apps. My Apps are the icons that are displayed when you sign into the site. More Apps are applications that are put out of the way for you. Gpanion considers them less known than the main icons, and so it sorts them elsewhere. However, if you find yourself using an app listed under “More Apps”, you can easily add it into your main dashboard.

To do this, simply click the gray gear icon at the top-right-hand corner of the main My Apps Dashboard. The icons listed under “More Apps” will appear below the dashboard. Now just drag-and-drop the app’s icon into the dashboard. You can also remove icons from your dashboard to the bottom, where they will be placed out of the way.

Gpanion also lets you Google search the web easily, right from your dashboard.

Select what you want to search, for example the web, Google Images, or Video. Hit enter, and Gpanion does the rest. Its exactly like the actual Google homepage.

Gpanion has some settings that you can configure and customize.

You can choose whether you want titles under your dashboard icons, whether to show the Google Search bar, to show live data for mail or feeds, or to play Gpanion sounds. You can also tweak the time and date formats to your liking.

Overall, my opinion about Gpanion is positive. It really helps me use all of my Google Apps.

Detailed Rating:

Performance: 10/10- Great simplicity and ease, works well

Design: 9/10- Could be more intricate

Overall: 9/10

Recently I was sent the DasKeyboard S Professional model for review. I was skeptical of the design when looking at the product on their website as I’m generally not a fan of larger keyboards and have become accustom to the chiclet keys on my wired apple keyboard. I remained optimistic but still somewhat skeptical. Though upon opening the product, all my skepticism went away.

This keyboard is quite beautiful and elegant. While the 1″ width is quite large compared to the apple keyboard, my hands slowly adjusted to the height difference. The font on they actual keys is a unique font quite attractive while still remaining easy to read or see at a glance.

The DasKeyboard also features two USB 2.0 ports on the right hand side which are very nice for plugging in your mouses receiver. Though there are two drawbacks to this, first to be able to use the USB ports you have to plugin the second USB cable that comes with the keyboard, second they’re on the right side. My desk is small so I find myself frequently hitting my mouse receiver when moving my curser from the right monitor to left. While these are not deal-breakers it can be quite annoying.

One of the main features of the keyboard is the clicking sound that has been lost in most of todays keyboards. Some users will pay good money for this sound in a keyboard which brings me to my main point, unless you want this sound do not buy this keyboard. The clicking sound produces by this keyboard sounds awesome and makes you feel like a hacker any time you type, but can get obnoxious when typing long paragraphs or reviews such as this one. If you don’t believe me that it’s loud, I’ve attached a video below of someone typing with the DasKeyboard.

Final Analysis: This keyboard is extremely high quality & will last for years. If you’re in the market for a high quality keyboard that makes the traditional clicking sound, I cant recommend this keyboard enough. If you’re easily annoyed by clicks, enjoy silence, or are not willing to spend over $100 on a wired keyboard this is not for you.

Hi there everyone, today’s article will be a bit more serious in nature, as it’s something that’s very close to me. Recently I went on vacation to Houston to go to the Marfans conference. While there I decided to take advantage of the available clinics, as doctors have always told me I have Marfans, but it was never very serious. For those that don’t know; Marfans syndrome ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marfan_syndrome) is a gene mutation that can manifest itself in several different ways and areas. Most commonly it affects the eyes, back, feet, etc. It is classified as a connective tissue disorder.

People with Marfans are most often tall, slender and have long limbs. A common sort of disorder that follows Marfans is scoliosis which is a curvature of the spine. Marfans mainly affects the aorta, located in the heart. Someone who has Marfans syndrome has a dilated aorta, and in most cases it continues to dilate to the point where it can dissect, almost always causing death.

Another common mutation that is grouped with Marfans is EDS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehlers-Danlos_syndrome). It is another connective tissue disorder, and often those with EDS are incredibly flexible and can preform numerous tricks with their fingers or wrist (thanks for scarring the hell out of me, by the way to whoever did that), people with EDS often face extreme pain, and usually need surgery to repair back issues, unlike Marfans, it is never fatal (There are a few, extremely rare cases that are fatal.), whether or not current technologies come into play. Moving on, 30 years ago the average life expectancy of someone with Marfans was somewhere in the 35-40 range, it has significantly improved since then, to the point of an average life span to that of your country’s. Two main pills currently used in the treatment of Marfans are(there is no cure) beta-blockers, and losarton. Beta blockers slow the growth of the aorta significantly, while losarton can reverse it in some cases. My apologies for the crash course, but I figure I should take this chance to announce that I have Marfans, and chances are I’ll require open heart surgery. I’ll be taking pills to prevent such a surgery , but it’s unlikely it’ll stall the growth of the aorta permanently.

Now. I’ll be okay, but its important to make sure you or a loved one isn’t risking anything. People with Marfans are discouraged from participating in contact sports such as football, as it puts unnecessary stress upon the heart. The quickest way to identify Marfans is to have genetic testing done (or an echo-cardiogram, you’ll have to talk with a doctor knowledgeable on the subject) , but it is often expensive. An echo-cardiogram can be used to identify the dilation of the aorta, if any. I’ll be writing another article covering the conference and foundation. Till then it’d be appreciated if you’d keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks for tolerating a more serious subject for once, I don’t intend on doing this on a regular basis.

The giveaway will end on the 5th of July.

Review:

This is the real leading tool for screenshot’s. With Snagit, you can capture your screen, window or just a specific area, then export. This can be exported to the printer, or you can save it, very easy. SnagIt saves screenshots on the formats PCX, JPG, TIFF, BMP, PDF and SWF.

Of course we have much more than a simple screen capture, or better, we have an application that has the ability to record everything that your eyes can see on the screen, either video or just an image.

But can we unleash our creativity with graphic effects to the image editor? But what if we want, to record a video that is happening on my computer? Can I also record video from my messenger camera? Can I then screenshot an image, and export it directly via FTP?

Yes to all questions and many others. This application is indeed the best in its category. Speaking in the SnagIt Editor, the editor does a fantastic job. The filters and effects available allow authentic works of art.

The price is very good. You really do get for what you pay for, and if you are willing to pay some extra money for this application, go ahead. You won’t regret it.

This new version brings a new theme (with new colors in the icons of the options), new dark patterns with the menus on tabs, very similar to Microsoft Office 2007.

New Features on Snagit 10:

All-in-One Capture

Transparency

New Text Possibilities

Direct Output To Screencast.com

New Edge Effects

Auto-Scroll Enhancement

Editor Color Options

Rating:

Price: 8/10 (49.95$)

Compatibility: 9/10 (Linux not compatible)

Performance: 10/10

Design: 9/10 (Could have more colors, and more themes, instead of the only Microsoft Office 2007 look-a-like theme)

Overall: 9/10

This set of scripts developed in Python will allow all users to perform the management of content hosted on Google’s servers, in different services, simple and easy. It avoids that you no longer have to rely on graphical interfaces to perform simple day-to-day tasks.

Naturally, this tool is intended for all Linux users who prefer the command line (shell) instead of the GUI.

Simple tasks such as adding calendar entries or view the contact of a friend can be made through the command line, simply invoke a command with two or three parameters.

These Google services are covered by GoogleCL for now:

Blogger

Calendar

Contacts

Docs

Picasa

YouTube

The commands are different but all very similar between applications, allowing that we can easily decorate the possibilities we have.

We’ll leave you here some examples of commands, one per service:

Blogger

$ Google blogger post – title “DuncsWeb” Test googleCLI “

Calendar

$ Google calendar add “Writing for DuncsWeb”

Contacts

$ Google contacts list name, email> Contacts.csv

Docs

$ Edit google docs – title “List of items”

Picasa

$ Google picasa create – title ” DuncsWeb ” ~ / photos / DW / *. jpg

Youtube

$ Google youtube post – category Technology DWIntro.avi

The installation of this tool is extremely simple. Just discharging the appropriate package using the distribution and then performing one of two steps:

If you are using Ubuntu you can simply navigate through the graphical user interface to the location where they recorded.
If you prefer to install in the command line just open a shell and execute the following commands:

cd <folder-where-you-saved-the-file>
googlecl_0.9.7 sudo dpkg-i-1_all.deb

If you are using another distribution other than Ubuntu should run the following commands into a shell

cd <folder-where-you-saved-the-file>
tar-xzvf googlecl 0.9.7.tar.gz
googlecl-cd 0.9.7
sudo python setup.py install

This is another way of accessing data that are on the Google cloud. This is especially for those who, like the shell.

You can download GoogleCL in here.
