Step 3 Visit and Observe Schools

Contact the schools you are interested in and make an appointment for a visit. If possible, tour the schools during regular school hours and visit a few classes. Avoid visiting schools during the first or last week of a term in order to get a realistic sense of how the school operates.

A good way to have your questions answered is to schedule an appointment with the school principal. If possible, attend an open house, parent-teacher meeting, or other school function that would also provide valuable information about the attitudes of staff, students, and parents.

Listen closely to what teachers say about the school. The teachers will be the adults closest to your child, and you will want to know if they are well prepared, dedicated, and happy in their work.

Step 2 Gather Information About Schools

If it is possible, gather information about schools as much as you can. You can get it from their brochures or their official website. If there is an academic fair or school fair, come and visit it. You can ghater a lot information from the customer service.

Curriculum

1. Does the school have a strong program of core academic subjects such as English, history, mathematics, science, arts, and foreign languages?
2. What courses does the school offer in addition to the core subjects?
3. What evidence is there that the school is effectively teaching students to read?
4. Does the school have a special focus or theme for the curriculum?
5. Does the school offer challenging courses such as Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and high school honors courses?
6. Does the school provide enrichment opportunities for all students? For gifted students?

Approach to Learning

3. Does the school do all it can to make sure each child learns? Does it provide opportunities for children to get extra help when they need it?
4. Is the school staff able to communicate in the language that your child understands?
5. Are children with limited English language skills, learning disabilities, or other special needs learning and performing well on tests?
6. What is the homework policy? Does it match your expectations for how much homework your child should do?

Do you know that Teddy Bear has his history?

One day, Theodore Rosevelt was invited by Andrew H. Longino in a hunting competition. Roosevelt who loves hunting and nature accepted that invitation. Until the end time of the hunting competition, Roosevelt didn’t get any animals. His servant, Holt Collier, hurted a bear and caught it on a tree. He asked Roosevelt to kill the bear so that he wouldn’t be asheme. But, Roosevelt refused it. He asked Collier to kill that bear to end the bear’s illness. That story was drawn in political comis and published in Washington Post by Clifford Berryman in 1902. It gave inspiration to Morris Michton, the owner of a toy store. He created a teddy doll. That doll was named Teddy, as the president’s nick name. Michton built Ideal Novelty and Toy Co to produce and sell that doll. In 1906, Teddy Bear was booming in market. Either woman, girl and children love that Teddy Bear. For them, having Teddy Bear was a must. Since around 1930, Teddy Bear was produced in attractive colors like purple, blue, dark red etc. And in 2006, the selling of Teddy Bear was reached 1,3 billion. Fantastic!

Welcome in Schmutzer

In front of the gate

Pusat Primata Schmutzer is inside Ragunan Zoo. It’s found by Mrs. Puck Shmutzer.  She is an animal lover. She gave huge donatation to The Gibbon Foundation to build this place. Schmutzer has museum, library and teather about Indonesian and world primate. The visitors are forbid to bring any food and drink inside. But, they can see feeding time at 9.00. Here they will know that primate do not only eat bananas.

I think it’s a good place to refresh and study. So…don’t miss it.
