LOK-IT is completely operating system independent, so works perfectly with Windows, Mac OSX, and with all flavors of Linux. A Linux flash drive, a drive running a Linux operating system from a flash drive, can provide a communication channel that is safe from a possibly compromised computer. LOK-IT can now provide the missing layer of security, as booting directly from the flash drive can be desirable along with hardware encryption of the operating system and data for ultimate USB protection.

DUO New Zealand Signs Distribution Deal with Check Point Software Technologies

DUO brings award-winning Check Point Endpoint Solutions to the New Zealand market

AUCKLAND Wednesday 23 March, 2011 - DUO New Zealand Limited and Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. today announced DUO has been appointed as the distributor for Check Point’s industry-standard Endpoint solutions.

Both organisations are excited to work together on this new partnership. “We value the local market experience and focus on security that DUO will bring as a Check Point value added distributor,” says Scott McKinnel, Check Point’s ANZ Regional Director. “DUO has a great reputation in the New Zealand market and we look forward to combining our expertise to provide endpoint security solutions to New Zealand organisations.”

DUO’s Director Kendra Ross says that Check Point’s solutions ticked all the right boxes. “We are extremely excited to be offering Check Point’s award winning End Point products. The risk in security is moving to the end point and with Check Point we can now have offerings that cover smart devices such as iPads & iPhones through to unencrypted media.

“Check Point has been extremely smart in offering a broad range of solutions for the end point and virtual work space through a pick and mix style but with one central management console. As a recognised Gartner leader in security, its security solutions are comprehensive, flexible and expandable, but are at the same time also affordable and simple to use. You can customise a solution using the Check Point Security Gateway in any number of ways, depending on the size of your business, you budget, and what you do.”

The Check Point solutions DUO will offer are below:

Mobile Access

With the proliferation of ‘i” devices such as iPhones, iPads and the new Android tablets, many workers are beginning to bring their devices into the workplace. This poses a number of risks to enterprise around data leakage, data security and managing these devices in the work place. It is important that IT balance the business use of these devices while protecting the enterprise. Check Point has the mobile access solution for this space.

Abra

Checkpoint also offer a solution called Abra. This is a virtual work space on a secure USB, perfect for organisations that use a high number of contractors. Supplying laptops to your contractors and supporting them is an enormous cost, without even considering the security risk this presents. With Abra, and organization can issue a device that contains a virtual workspace and the all corporate apps they use. The contractor uses this with their own laptop or PC, and once they leave the organization, they hand it back or be decommissioned.

Abra can also be used for continuity during disaster recovery.

End Point

“Consolidation and reducing the complexity of point products has become a huge concern for CIOs and CSOs, both in New Zealand and around the world,” says Check Point’s ANZ Data Protection & Endpoint Manager Gareth Cox. “Now, more than ever, businesses are looking to deploy the next generation in desktop security to reduce the complexity and increase the user experience. Through our partnership with DUO, more customers will benefit from our Single Management console with a single agent that includes 10 integrated award-winning Endpoint solutions.”

ENDS

It is also easier for users of Windows Vista and Windows 7 apply IronKey device updates. IronKey highly recommends all users update to this version to take advantage of these improvements.

IMPORTANT: Devices using the IronKey Anti-Malware Service must update to IronKey 2.0.7.0 or 2.0.8.0 by January 2011 to ensure the anti-virus definitions can be updated.

NOTE: On 09/29/2010 the IronKey Enterprise Management Service Admin Console at my.ironkey.com was updated with a new “Update Management” feature. This enables IronKey System Admins to control which Device Updates are available to IronKey Enterprise users.

The following is a summary of the significant changes included in device update 2.0.8.0.

Functional Changes

• Updatability of IronKey devices on Vista & Windows 7 without Windows Admin privileges
The IronKey device updater now supports being run by users without Microsoft Windows operating system Administrator privileges on Vista or Windows 7

• Mozilla Firefox updated to 3.6.12
The onboard Mozilla Firefox shipped on the CD-ROM volume has been updated to 3.6.12.

• IronKey Enterprise Terms of Use Agreement Updated
There was an update to the Terms of Use Agreement for Enterprise devices. The new terms are available at https://www.ironkey.com/license-enterprise

Bug Fixes

• Fixed Auto-Lock Preferences bug (Windows only)
This issue affected IronKey Enterprise devices where the Auto-Lock policy was “Active”, users were allowed to modify Auto-Lock preferences, and the user did modify their Auto-Lock preferences.
At Unlock, the IronKey Control Panel for Windows would revert the Auto-Lock preferences back to the setting defined in the current policy. The result was that user changes to Auto-Lock preferences were not permanent. Enterprise devices would revert to the current policy while Basic and Personal devices would revert to the default manufacturing policy.
This issue was not present in the IronKey Control Panel for Mac OS.

System Requirements for Updating IronKeys

Updating on Windows 2000 or 2003 requires Windows administrative privileges.

Updating on Windows XP requires Windows administrative privileges or using a computer on which the IronKey Assistant software has been previously installed.

Updating on Vista or Windows 7 can be performed by a user with without Windows administrative privileges.

An Internet connection is required to download the update

KNOWN ISSUES

S100 devices at version 1.1.200.34 or older must first update to IronKey version 2.0.2.2, before they can update to the latest release.
