I met Chesen and Matthew at Mollie and Matt’s wedding a while back. And all I can say is that I’m so grateful to get to photograph such wonderful people. Not only were the two of them madly in love with one another, but Chesen and Matt were classy, silly, and hysterical. Their beautiful Texas hill country wedding on a private family ranch was the perfect setting for this couple. Here’s a sneak peek from their beautiful wedding day. Congratulations :)

The Choice We Made

My wife and I were married on a Friday the 13th. Yes, it’s a little different than you would expect. However, my parents were also married on a Friday the 13th. June the 13th to be specific. So when my wife and I decided to get married, we chose to have our ceremony on the same day as my parents’, June 13th. A Friday. Some would call it unlucky, others might see it as quirky or endearing. However, Sophia and I are on nine years of marriage. It hasn’t always been a perfect. In fact, a lot of work has gone into getting to where we are today. But through everything that has gotten between us and our happy ever after, one thing has always been constant. I love her. And she loves me. No matter what the argument is about. No matter who’s turn it is to do the dishes. That one single truth is what brings us through every situation. And it’s this one truth that I share with all of my clients. On that day, when they’re nervous, or worried about doing the right thing. I just remind them of the first reason that brought them here. Because they love each other.

Recently, I was approached by a Hollywood production company about teaming up with them to collaborate on a new project. Since everything is still in pre-production, I can’t release the details. However, it was a wonderful opportunity for me to listen and hear some amazing bands as well as meet a few celebrities in the process. Special thanks to local Austin music band The Trishas and San Francisco band Leopold and His Fiction for being such wonderful company, entertainment, and photo models!

Bluebonnet Bandits

If you’re not from Texas, then you’re probably mesmerized by all the people dodging traffic to get their family portraits taken amongst the bluebonnets in the beautiful Austin Hill Country. And yes, even professional photographers will get arm twisted into keeping up with this lifelong tradition to get their kids to pretend like they love each other while sitting in fields of the blue flowered weeds. At least I’m blessed with kids that don’t have to pretend that they love each other. I love my family :)

Houston Bridal: Shireen’s Portraits

If you’re one of my brides, you know I prefer to have fun during my bridal portrait sessions. Most of my brides, if not all of them have a blast. Shireen was the picture of fun and class during her Houston bridal portraits session. As always, I tend to take my time with bridal portraits. Usually spending around 3-4 hours, just to make sure we get enough of the perfect shots. While keeping it stunning, I also prefer brides that know when to let their hair down. Shireen, thank you so much for such an amazing bridal portrait session as well as an absolutely stunning Houston wedding! More to come…

Simple and Elegant Love

Wedding photographers can sometimes get so caught up in all the happenings on a wedding day. Our most recent Houston wedding was just as busy as any other. However, it always tugs at my heartstrings to take a moment and stop time. It’s our job, right?

What makes this wedding rings detail shot so special is that it was taken by my wife, who occasionally second shoots for me on weddings. Seeing the interpretation of her translation of love captured through this photograph simply makes my heart swell.

I think the lesson to be learned here is that we all need to stop time once in a while, to take a moment and appreciate the unabated love that exists within us all.

I love it when I get to shoot for Edible Austin magazine. Seriously, how awesome is it when I not only get to photograph wonderful people, foods and beverages, but then I also get to enjoy them during the shoot. Sometimes, you have to be careful not to enjoy too much like in the last cover shoot we did for Edible Austin. Here’s a hint, it was about whiskey.

However, in the spirit of Spring, this upcoming issue for Edible Austin is featuring Lick Ice Cream. You can bet I raised my hand high as soon as EA asked who wanted to do the shoot ;)

Needless to say, I loved the ice cream. I loved the shoot. And I always love shooting for Edible Austin magazine. Getting my work on the cover is just the icing on the cake… or the ice cream.

The Spring issue will be available March 1st at your local Whole Foods.
