Are you done?
Now you can read the rest of the post.

See, that simple exercise says a whole lot about your financial mentality. If you have a wrong mentality financially, no matter how educated you are, you are always going to get it wrong. I read about the story of Mike Tyson, the once highly acclaimed boxer. Tyson with his hands made USD$300million early in his career but in 2003, he declared bankruptcy. The question is; what happened to the money? Answer: His Mentality happened! The question of success in life, is often a question of your mentality.

If you have the wrong mentality about something, your ability or capability makes no sense. For instance, if you want to get married and you have the wrong mentality about marriage, no matter how loving or caring you are; your marriage will not last. If you want to start a business and your mentality is just wrong, you will soon close down. I met someone who dropped out of school in his final year and when I asked him why; he said "It was too hard; too full on". How then did you see the first few years through and you dropped out when you're almost done; was the question that kept ringing in my head?

Think of your mentality as a spectacle. It is the way you see and interpret things. The way you see events in your life influences the way you act or react to them. Imagine a shortsighted person wearing a spectacle made for someone with Long-sightedness? Such a person will soon fall into the ditch; it's only a matter of time. Wear the right spectacle for the events in your life because "if you change the way you see things, the very things you see change".

I am sure you're probably wondering; how do I change my mentality? The people you have in your life influence the way you act; how you overcome the challenges you face and most importantly whether you will fulfill purpose. One thing that makes life go round is our relationship with people. Move with the right people and your life's wheels will spin in the right direction. On the other hand, if you move with the wrong people, you may find yourself in life's bottomless pit.

To help you on this important aspect of your life, I have come up with a list of 5 people you must have in your life if you want to fulfill purpose. Come with me...

1. The Believer
If you were to face a giant in a boxing ring and you think you cannot make it but you find someone screaming behind you words of affirmation like, "Yes, you can", the giant in you will rise to the tune. Before you know it, you will find yourself trading punches with the giant. If you must make it in life, be in the company of at least one or two people who believe in you and your dreams.

2. The Mentor
Just like believers, mentors believe in you but they don't just stop there; they go the extra mile to see you become the man/woman of your dreams. The see your potential from afar, long before you even perceive it in yourself. They challenge you to do more; go the extra mile; push even further; they guide you towards the path of excellence. Even if you give up on yourself, they just won't give up on you. They stimulate your interest from time to time by teaching you new things, expanding your horizon or simply affirming what you already know about yourself or your future without making you feel pushed or manipulated.

3. The Realist
Often times, successful people are full of fantasies forgetting we still have to deal with reality. The realists in your life remind you of this. Their essence in your life is to help you balance your dreams with reality. They help you place your goals in the context of life; which helps you see clearly, make intelligence analysis and help you work even harder.

4. The Constructive Critic
Take note of the word "constructive"; you don't need a destructive critic in your life. They will drain your motivation and energy in no time. In fact, spending time is a waste of time. However, you do need people in your life, who will from time to time, give you constructive feedback about how you are doing, what you are doing that you should not be doing or perhaps what you are not doing but should be doing. Their influence in your life can help you see things from a different angle every time as they open your eyes to your blind-spots.

5. The Optimist/Encourager
If everyone you have around you are pessimists, you will soon become one. They will daily share their fears with you till you lose your dream and you become afraid of moving forward. However, if you have people around you who see opportunities in every challenge, beloved, there's hardly a mountain you'd not be motivated to climb. A typical example of this was Jonathan in David's life in the bible. He was the optimist in David's life that kept David going even against His father. These people are like fuel in your engine. You need them! Many of them.

Thanks for reading once again. Endeavour to share with friends and family. STAY INSPIRED!

© 2014 | Samuel Ekundayo, PhD

5 Things I bet you don't know about yourself

I am sure you're wondering; how can you tell me things I don't know about myself? Do you even know me? I've once thought to myself "shouldn't the best person I know be me?" I mean, I wake up with myself daily; I own the thoughts I think in my head and the life I live is mine; well, God-given. However, I have recently discovered a few things about myself that I almost never realised existed! I am quite sure these 5 things I am about to share, you hardly know about yourself too.

1. You can become anything you set your mind on to achieve
Often times, you give up even before you start. It's like you're living life on a roller coaster. But when you know this truth about yourself, you will see every opportunity with a different spectacle. In the last three months, I have acquired some skills that are almost beginning to pay dividends. Just out of the blue, people are asking to pay for a skill I only picked within 3-4 months. It's amazing what you can achieve when you set your mind on things.

2. You have everything you need within you to become who you want to be
You know how you look up to the celebrities and wonder; "are these guys even human?" Yes, they are. They are only harnessing the power of the potentials on their inside. Guess what; you have some potentials within you nobody else has. Until you come to this realisation, you will always give up even before you start.

3. Situations and circumstances do not define who you are or your abilities
Many things happen to us in life that makes us feel inadequate or perhaps look at ourselves as failures. Our weaknesses show up and we feel disgraced. Many at points like this break or take a break; some others accept the challenge and end up breaking records. You should be the latter. Situations don't define who you are; they tell you a lot about yourself than you knew.

4. If you give your best, you will be the BEST!
The reason you are not known for that thing you've been giving your time to is because you are yet to give your best. Wait, maybe you think what you are giving currently is your best; well then, try pushing a little more. History makers PUSH! Record breakers are often relentless! They find a gap and they fill it! They don't stop at trying; they give their BEST!

5. What you devote your life to lives on after you!
If you devote your life to customer service, your star will shine way after you're dead and gone. I guess the question every potentially successful person should always ask is: "What do I want to remembered for?" Imagine consciously looking for an answer to that question daily? You challenges will have no effect on your life; obstacles will know not to mess with you; you will command situations to your favour; even your critics will no choice but to say good things about you. However, what we often thank God for are tangible things like shelter, food, protection, provision, our car(s) and so on. Recently I came about one thing I have hardly ever thanked God for.

My wife and I were watching a movie the other day and a rich man, with a very lovely family had an accident. He was taken to the hospital and after a few days in coma, he came back alive. At least, thank God for life right? Something went with the accident though; his MEMORY!

The man could hardly recall a thing about himself, his surrounding or his family. He saw his wife and asked "who is this?". He was taken home yet he continued asking "where is this?" His memory had failed him. There and then, I realised, the basic unit of every thing we own is our memory.

If you lose your memory today, you are as good as a new born baby just learning to live life or the shell of a broken egg. If you're an expert like me in one field or the other, you would have no memory of that thing you got a PhD in talkless of being able to talk about. You are likely to lose your job; your family will have a hard time being around you (and vice versa). Your memory is your wealth; just as much as your health.

Indeed, when there is life there is hope but when you lose your memory alive, people around you can only hope for a miracle. Why not take a minute today and say, "THANK YOU JESUS FOR MY MEMORY."

Please share this note with your friends and family. We all need to be thankful.

© 2014 | Samuel Ekundayo, PhD

There would never be enough...

In Psychology, procrastination means, "replacing high-priority actions with tasks of lower priority, or doing something from which one derives enjoyment, and thus putting off important tasks to a later time"[source]. You feel, very soon, I'd have all the time in the world to do it. Or you feel, this window of time I've got is too little to do this thing I've got to do, I'll wait till I get home; when I am about to sleep; when I retire; when I get married; when I find someone to marry; when I find a publisher; when I get a job; when I get into the university; when I have lots of money! One night, I got home and I was so tired from work that I felt like doing was knocking off my socks and off to bed. Somehow, I managed to turn on my computer and guess what? The same thing I'd been putting off till when I feel I'd have enough time (say about 3hours), I completed it in less than an hour! Finally, I went to bed relieved and fulfilled. I thought I'd share that with you to begin summoning courage for anything you've put off till later and just bravely get them started! Until you start, you will never be a star.

Thanks for reading and I've missed you all. I particularly could not remember what caught my interest; the cute dog or his determination to get the ball out of the hole. I saw how determined the dog was not to let go of the ball; he was not ready to lose the battle to the hole. He started digging out the hole to get the ball out by all means. It was tough, it was hard, it took time, but he did it! I could feel the excitement as he took the ball and ran to his owner wiggling its tail up, down, left and right.

See, the dog could have stood there crying over spilled milk or lamenting the balls trip to the hole. You and I know that approach will never get him anywhere near getting the ball back. Beloved, there is nothing wrong with where you are today in life; however, everything is wrong or significant about what you are doing today to get to where you want to be tomorrow. A man can be low today but for him not to remain low tomorrow, depends on what he does with his life today. That you were born into a poor family does not automatically mean you will die poor if you are determined to do something about it. That no one in your family has ever attended or graduated from the university does not mean you will fall into the same queue.

However, you are likely to follow that bad or negative trend if you refuse to do anything about it. My point actually is, quit lamenting about where you are today or what is happening to you right now. Instead, start doing something about getting out of that problem. In this new year, always remember, it matters not where you are but what you do where you are.

Happy New Year, 2013.

- Le Dynamique Professeur

Quit your thinking cap!

The 5th of January would make my second full month of working in my current job. I particularly love the job because I learn something new every day. One of the thing I am currently learning is to quit 'thinking'. My boss is such that hates to hear the word, 'think'. For instance, should a customer call about a problem I am to fix, and perhaps I am unable to fix it and then ask for his help on it. He'd then begin to ask questions about the issue. What he hates to hear me say when answering him is, "I think..." He wants to hear things like, "I believe", "I am sure", "I have checked", "I know", and so on. His favourite reply when you respond with an "I think" is, "Don't think mate..." So, in the last two months, I have in particular being learning to stop thinking but knowing.

Many of us walk through life with the "I think" philosophy. We presume, assume everything. We hardly ever seek to get to the root of the matter when faced with issues. We just like to scratch things on the surface and seeking a very quick fix or easy way out. I have come to discover those who actually learn are not those who 'think' or live on assumptions but those who are passionate to know! Those who would do everything to go after knowledge.

I have made it a resolve to quit my 'thinking' cap. I want to start using my 'knowledge' cap. I want to always get my facts right before asking for help. I want to make sure when I am asked, "how can I help you?" I know what I want and why I want it. I want to quit seeking the microwave and fast-foods fix. I want to go hard after knowledge. I want to think less and know more. I want to believe more and assume less. I want to always get my facts right before asking anyone for help. This is my resolve for the new year; what's yours?

This is to thank you all for your support in 2012. I was to help interview participants of the research and transcribe the interviews to be ready for analysis later. While the interview part seems easy, the transcription part of the job was the most difficult part. I literally struggle when it comes to transcribing long conversations. The shortest of the interviews had a duration of 20mins while the longest was over an hour and I had a deadline they must be completed by. I was able to complete the transcription but I believe what kept me through was the fact that I was looking forward to being paid at the end. I just could not wait to finish them. I pushed through every hurdle to see through the contract.

There are many difficulties in life that burden us; frustrate us, torture us and sometimes push us to our limits! We struggle, we fight, we lobby, push, pull, scream and yell. What often doesn't come to mind at such times is what we stand to gain if we scale that hurdle. We get so encumbered by the seeming weight that besets us and thus find it hard to look upward and forward. Whereas, if the goal is in sight, the burden will be less and the end would not seem very far away.

I am reminded of a formula a friend once gave me; "Sam, anytime you are doing something you don't really like doing; start listening to your favourite song and you wouldn't feel your worse doing it." I believe the favorite music here would be looking onto the reward at the end. Just like the bible says, "weeping may endure for the night, joy comes in the morning". Look to the morning and I am sure you won't feel the darkness of the night.

- Le Dynamique Professeur

Photo from here

PS: Apologies, I've been extra ordinarily busy with exam preps and a new job is why I have been a little absent here on blogsville. They often would put motor tyres together and one by one, they tumble off and on them. The flexibility of their bodies were beyond comprehension for those of us who were only skilled at being their spectators. They could twist, turn, twist again and turn, on sand, in the air, with or without aids. They were always a joy to watch because they had stunning control and command for their bodies.

One of the things I have been learning of late is to be flexible. Before now, I am often the very tough and principled young man that does not allow distractions to his goals. However, I think there is a gain in being flexible at times. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying being flexible means you should allow distractions to your goals. My pastor made a statement recently and it's been the object of my rumination. He said, "blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be broken".

Just as those boys in my primary school seem to have an amazing control of their bodies and are not scared to throw themselves up and down, twist and turn, flexibility in a man's life can help him take a lot in without being broken. Some of us are just too rigid for life to pass through us. Guess what? There is no way you will pass through life and life would not pass through you. Reality is often different from fantasies and many of us don't know that until its almost too late to realise.

The fact that you can't get a job as an accountant despite studying accounting doesn't mean you will never be an accountant. It just means, you could still learn one more thing coupled with accounting. The fact that you didnt get admission into medicine does not mean your dream is over; it just means, it may not be meant for you or perhaps its waiting for you in the future. The fact that you can't have that girl to go out with doesn't mean you are not good enough; it just may mean you are not meant to be or you are still going to meet later in future. While I am not encouraging you to give up on your dreams (I am sure you know I am not an advocate of that), I am just suggesting to you a method that seem to work as well; flexibility. Remember, blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be broken.

Picture from here

Why should we hire you?

Think of this scenario; you walked into a job interview and you have just settled in. Right after exchanging pleasantries with the interview panel, you're faced with the question; Why should we hire you? Well, probably, for a job interview, you won't be puzzled right? There is a likelihood, you're prepared to be asked a question like this and perhaps many more. I have been to an interview before, some months back and when I was asked this question, I could see the intense interest in the interviewer's disposition. He wanted me to convince him I was best for the job. I think I did my best with that question; well, at least I got the job. (laughs)

This post is not just about how to successfully scale a job interview or some "10 tips to getting a job" prose. It is about your ability to convince others about you. In life, if you are not convinced about yourself, you will never be able to convince others about you. Do you know there is a way you can ask people for help and by the time you're done asking, they will almost have no choice but to help? It is not by making a pity party or getting them to sympathize with you. Your ability to convince them would cause them to have so much 'caught your vision' such that they can do all in their power to help you.

There are three ways to convince yourself about yourself before attempting to convince others about you; three questions you must find answers to;

WHAT do I want?
I have always said, if you don't know what you want, be ready to get anything. Many of us are not convinced about what we want and as such, it's hard to even ask people. Have you ever asked people for help before and after you've said all, they still ask, "So, what exactly would you like me to do for you?"

WHY do I want it?
I was watching XFactor USA last night and I noticed the one question the judges kept asking the contestants was, "why are you in this competition?" Your ability to answer the 'why' question will determine how determined you are to get what you want.

HOW will I get it?
What do you currently have that can get you that thing? Energy, passion, skills, experience, drive? Knowing what you have will help you know what you're lacking; thus fueling your ability to convince others about you or your vision.

I'd stop here. Remember, if you are not convinced about yourself, you will never be able to convince others about you.

Thanks for reading.

Photo from here

- Le Dynamique Professeur

If I can do it, you too can!

Earlier this week, I was to attend an event about 10 kilometers away from where I live and work. It was a morning event and to beat traffic, I had to be around the area early enough, which means I had to hang around somewhere before the time of the event. I arrived at the area two hours before and had to go to a campus of my school to use the computers there, work on my thesis and perhaps while away some time before the event. While I was there in the postgraduate lab, a lady came to me, much older than I am and asked if I was a student and what course I was studying. I told her and also mentioned I was rounding off my thesis. She was stunned and almost screamed, "you're so young!". Then she goes, "I don't think I can ever do a PhD". While I asked why, I remember uttering these words vividly, "IF I CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN!".

Some of us believe great heights are for special people. People who are either extraordinarily smart or rich. What we often fail to understand is that nobody was born exceptionally brilliant. In fact, permit me to say no one was born great! People desired to be and they worked at it. One of the theories that seem to work for me in life is this; "if you can do it, then I can do it too". I have found that with this theory in mind, there is hardly anything too far to achieve unless I am not determined enough to do it.

There is nothing called impossible except that which you have resigned from. What makes life interesting are the little strides people achieve on a daily basis in every facet of human life. No wonder someone said, "the life we live in is like playing in a game where the goalpost is continuously being moved". While you're still thinking something is impossible, someone's done it and gone past it. Beloved, be set to achieve more than your mind can conceive from henceforth. For it is only what you can picture that you will capture! If anyone can, you too CAN!

- Le Dynamique Professeur

Picture from here

...Against all odds: an inspiring Olympic story

In life, many challenges come your way and quitting seems the easiest way out. Failure hits you one time and you're like, "That's it! That's the call! I'm off this track", without realizing how close to her to the gold! Joel Osteen once said, "The greater the intensity of your challenges, the closer you are to your victory". How willing you're determined to push through every odd will determine whether you are a 'just attended' or gold medal material. I read this inspiring Olympic story today about Kerri Strug and it got me to almost shedding tears. As you read through, keep asking, how willing am I to succeed? How far can I go against all odds?

In 1996, the U.S. Women’s gymnastics team was up against Russia for the gold. We had one opportunity to finally defeat them, but the challenge grew as one gymnast fell not once, but twice threatening the lead the United States team had secured. It was up to one athlete, Kerri Strug, a 4 foot 9 powerhouse from AZ. She would prove to a watching world what devotion and determination look like.

She performs a difficult vault that requires a handspring and a twisting dismount. As she descends through the air toward the ground, she slips on her landing and falls on her backside. She also hears a snap in her left ankle. There is disbelief in the crowd. The gold, it appears, is gone when Strug’s score — 9.162 — is flashed on the board.
Strug falls to her knees, disregarding her injured ankle. Her parents, sitting in the stands, cover their faces. As Strug rises and begins psyching herself up for her second and final vault, pain shoots through her leg. Turns out, she has suffered two torn ligaments in the ankle.

Left to herself she may have given in to defeat. But listen to what her coach does next:

U.S. Coach Bela Karolyi walks over to the ailing Strug, puts his arm around her and says softly, “Kerri, we need you to go one more time. We need you one more time for the gold.”
Strug rises from the floor, removes the ice pack from her ankle and says a prayer: “Please, God, help me make this vault.” She’s performed this vault more than a thousand times. “I know I can do it one more time, injured ankle or not,” she thinks to herself.

Her coach appeals to her. He reminds her of her goal and how close it is. He assures her he will be with her afterward to help her, only give it your best, he pleads.

Strug sprints down the runway on her damaged ankle. Across the way, the Russian gymnasts, stop and watch. Strug leaps high into the air. She performs a back handspring onto the vault, perfectly. Then she descends through the air, toward the ground. Everyone on the sidelines and in the crowd winces, knowing that when Strug lands, it’s going to be as painful as someone smashing a medal rod against your ankle. Strug lands hard on both feet, amazingly without stumbling. Yet when she lands, she hears another crack in the same ankle. She gingerly picks up her damaged ankle and folds it behind her, keeping her balance, to the shock of everyone in the crowd and everyone watching on TV. Her mind tells her body to stand upright for the traditional post-performance pose. She hops on one foot to face one side of the crowd, then hops again to face the other, all the while holding up her injured ankle. Strug’s teammates begin leaping on the sideline. Strug, meanwhile, hops around a quarter turn, arms raised, and forces a big smile for the judges while the Georgia Dome crowd of 32,048 lets out a roar. She holds the pose for a few seconds, just long enough to please the judges, then she falls to the floor and grimaces in agonizing pain as the ovation continues.

Kerri Strug did what her coach had asked of her. And when it came time to receive the Gold Medal on the podium, the paramedics wanted to get her to a hospital for much needed medical attention. But she refused. She wanted to be there with her team, and her coach made sure it would happen.

He carried her to the podium where the National Anthem was played in honor of this team of girls who were willing to go for the prize no matter the pain or the cost.

Thanks for reading... Some of her other friends wondered how she got such a job despite the seemingly difficult job market in New Zealand at the moment. However, what they fail to realize is that she's referred so many of her friends to jobs while she worked part time as a student. By the time she graduated, she's had a few contacts in some companies and apparently was referred by one of her friends to the job she now has. Indeed, she reaped what she sew while she was a student.

There is hardly anything you do in life that is in vain. Most often, they are seeds we sow into our future. You don't have to reap where you sow but be sure you will reap what you sow. That is why it is important to sow good seeds. In other words, be full of good deeds because you will reap the harvest of your deeds. Let your attitude be good and you are likely to get a harvest of good attitude from others. If as a subordinate, you never showed respect to your boss or leader, when you eventually make it to the top, you are likely to get paid back in your own coin. Reminds me of this saying amongst the Yoruba people, "what you don't want when you become rich, don't pick up while you're poor".

Life is about sowing and reaping. No wonder the Holy Book says, "seed time and harvest will not cease". Beloved, I would like to use this post to remind you to start sowing good seeds towards the future of your career, relationships (the people in your life) or perhaps marriage, business, academics, finances; every aspect of your life. Start investing in people; you never know where they'd get to tomorrow. The good news about helping others up is such that when life happens and you perhaps happen to find yourself on the way down, someone can help you back up. But you will hardly get any to help if you have not at one time or the other invested in someone. While you may not reap from exactly where you have sown, be sure you will reap what you sow. Always remember this; What you sow, not what you show, you will reap.

- Le Dynamique Professeur

Photo from here

Know the difference

I was opportune to be interviewed by a top IT recruiter in the city I live in a few weeks ago. This wonderful man definitely has a lot of experience recruiting for top IT firms in New Zealand; as such, his suggestions to me on how to sail through the New Zealand job market were relevant and true. He made his marks on me because I could see he had the facts and his assessments of me were succinct and apt. I asked him about what has been the subject of my thoughts recently; which is about getting certified professionally by taking some professional exams. His response, "Samuel, those exams are costly and I do not think they add much value than what your PhD would by the time you're done". When I got back home and had a reminiscence on that meeting, that profound reply was on a repeat spree in my head. It made me realize there is a huge difference between the price of a thing and it's value.

As days and weeks went by, I could not help but think of the difference between price and value. I came across this quote by Oscar Wilde, “Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.” You would agree with me that is very true. How many times have we made some decisions that are costly yet add no value to our lives; academics, relationships, career etc. Sometimes, we take some actions because others are doing it, expecting it'd automatically add value. When in the end, we fail to realize the return on the investment we made on such actions, we lament the cost we've had to put in.

I have written this post as a reminder to start weighing your actions, decisions, not by how much they would cost you but by how much value they would add to you. Sometimes, the higher the price you pay, the higher the value but guess what, its not always the case. It is possible to sweat it all on a venture yet with no intrinsic value to our present or future. Also, it is possible to take the easy way out running away from the price to pay to achieve value; that is also not a good decision. Weigh up your actions and decisions based on the value you would get rather than the price to pay. If it costs more and it would add a lot of value, go for it! If it costs more and won't add a pinch of value, opt out! Choose value over price; never the later over the former. Be guided by this principle and you will never have to live your life in waste. Thanks for reading.

27th Birthday QUESTIONS

There was no particular question in my last post apart from the ones posted on Facebook and I will likely answer them there. He has been my rock, shield, refuge and strength. Words fail me in trying to describe his love for. He is simply amazing. This year, my birthday post is about the questions people ask me. People ask me lots of questions but 7 out of the most asked are the ones I have highlighted here. Please feel free to ask yours at the end of the post in the comment section, I promise to answer them all.

1. When are you getting married?

I think this is the question I have been asked the most in the last 2-3 years. Everyone that has come to know me, knows how much I am in love with my fiance - Ms. Blessing Agbaje. Hence, they want to know when we'd be tying the knots. Assuredly, your answer is very soon; in fact, sooner than you perhaps imagined. Sincerely, I can't wait to get married to the amazing woman of virtue God has given me. I can't wait to completely cleave to her. She is the best thing God has given me since Jesus Christ and I will always be grateful. Talk about a woman of understanding, noble character, patience, excelling virtue and teachable spirit. Sincerely, I believe I'm the most favoured man on earth to have her as a gift from God.

2. How come you repeated classes twice and started your PhD at 23?

Sincerely, the answer to that is "I DON'T KNOW". But I KNOW something; it is not magic. God orchestrated it, guided it and saw it through. One of my mentors do say, "when you cannot explain it, there is a God-factor in it". My advice is, if you want something similar to happen in your life or in the life of anyone you know; stay close to God. Let Him be your only hope. When He is your only hope, you can never be ashamed. It goes to show, the downfall of a man is not the end of his life. The fact that you fail does not make you the tail! Don't give up even when it seems you can't get up!

3. Why are you always Happy?

The answer to this one, I know. The bible says, "the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day" [Prov 4:8]. Not only does his path shines, his countenance shines too because he reflects the glory of the Lord. I am always happy because there is a seed of joy on my inside. There is no way to conceal it. No matter how hard I try. Even when I am sick, its hard to have a harsh or frowned face. Joy beams from my within always because I serve a God of hope.

4. Where do you get your posts from?

This question has come to me from a lot of people including my fiance. lol. My post comes from my desire to fulfill purpose; which is to make people believe in themselves that they can achieve anything they set their minds on to achieve. I always feel like screaming it loud into people's ears, "DO NOT QUIT" so I basically fashion out my message in that direction. Doing all I can to inspire, motivate and encourage everyone on their way to fulfillment. My first destination for inspiration is my Bible. All my posts are embedded in the revelations I get from God; I supplement them with insights from other authors (books, blogs and things I listen to). Moreover, I watch out for my day-to-day life for anything that could be of insight to the message of hope I've been sent to preach.

5. Your parents must be very rich?

I think I have gotten this question alot in the last 3-4years. The reason being that I've only had one scholarship since I've been studying that covers my academic tuition fees. Other scholarships hardly go in that direction safe the most recent one in the final year of my research. So people wonder where my parents get all he money to train me thus far. Sincerely, my parents are rich in Christ Jesus! All their deposits to God's kingdom never fails to pay off. That's where my school fees get paid. There has never been a time I got out of school because my fees could not be paid. No matter how late, God always settled the fees. He is still doing so, even for my younger ones. He is a God of hope.

6. How is life in New Zealand?

Life in New Zealand is awesome when you have a family that loves you genuinely. In New Zealand, I have met great people who have taken me as their own - Son, Brother, Uncle, Sibling (name it). In fact, sometimes I have to force myself to miss my very own nuclear family. Special mention to my Pastor's family - Pastor David Adelowo of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Victory House, Auckland. Could not have been more blessed to have you in my life. God bless you.

7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

When people ask me this question, I feel they are trying to put me in a box. While I do not have issues providing an answer, I always have it at the back of my mind that its a difficult thing fathoming what God has in store for me because He has deposited too much into me for me to completely imagine what He would do through me. One of my goals to publish nothing less than 30 books in my life time; most of which will also be published in various languages of the world. People must hear the message God has put on my lips; no matter where they come from; the language they speak or the situation of their countries. So in five years time, I should have published some of those books; most likely be teaching at a university; married to my sweetheart in blessed matrimony.

Now, if you have any questions for me, please feel free to leave them in the comment section. For every post I do henceforth, I will take one question each and answer them at the end. God bless you and thank you for celebrating my birthday with me. Keep on keeping on!

- Le Dynamique Professeur

The 15th Mile

I was listening to the radio some weeks back and someone said something that caught my attention. He said, the hardest phase of a marathon run begins at the 15th mile. According to him, this is because it is the time almost every organ in your body is saying "NO". There is usually a contention between your goals and your ability. It takes the runner that can endure, persevere and with the ability to push beyond his limit to make it through the remaining 11.2miles.

I am one of those who believes life is a race. While its a race, it is not a sprint or a dash, its a marathon. You will agree with me that there are some phases in life that we go through and its like everything within us and around us keeps saying "I give up!" Its like your will power begins to fail and you're down to only hope to see you through. Yes, that's likened to the 15th mile I'm talking about. You look around you and people are falling by the way side; you are tempted to do the same. Though you have your goal in sight, yet it appears you will never make it through. Your abilities begin to contend with your goals, dreams, visions and ambitions. It becomes so very easy to conclude, "this is my limit".

Beloved, there is no limit except that which you have personally assigned for yourself. The human body was built to be able to exceed his limits. That is why every single day, there is a new invention than there was the day before. WATCH IT: The conclusions you make about your condition could be a lasting restriction. I am here to encourage you once again to push beyond your limits; let your goals win over your natural abilities; let perseverance prevail over every easy way out; let your vision have a say when it seem you're getting tired.

I also heard that if the runner is able to push pass the 15th mile and perhaps one or two miles more. He is likely to grease through the rest of the race. See, the hardest part of an endeavour is its closest link to the gains in it. Keep pushing! Success is yours.

- Le Dynamique Professeur

Photo from here

You have a funny accent

I had a fantastic working experience at my former job and practically loved every moment on the job. I spent a whole year working with the company and it was time to move on. Being the type of person that loves getting feedback, I asked my boss, "what made you hire me? As in, what did you see in my CV that got me hired?" He looked at me and said, "Several people applied for that position and we rang them all up. When we called you; first, we were amused by the fact that you have a funny accent; second, for every question we asked, you exclaimed "awesome" to usher in your response. We were like, "this guy must be highly motivated" and we just couldn't wait to meet you". You see, I am always fond of exclaiming that 7-letter word "AWESOME!", not because everything is but because I always feel awesome. When I got to New Zealand, I found that kiwis love the word; and for a way to express the optimist on my inside, I picked it up. So, when you ask, "Sam, how are you doing?" I may likely answer, "Awesome!" haha

The life of an average man is filled with opportunities; many that he'd miss and some that he'd avail himself of. Most opportunities are missed because people are not optimistic about life. They've allowed life situations to kill the 'awesome' on their inside. As a result, they beam negativity to the outside. Tell me, who wants to hire or be friends with a negative person? Well, except someone equally negative. Everyone likes to have a positive person around them. Positive people respond well to life. They make everything look awesome even when it doesn't look like it. They may have a funny accent but they are rare people; they are of the rare breed.

I am personally very allergic to negative people. They make me sick. I feel irritated when I'm around people who just don't have anything else to talk about than complain about the government, their family, their job, spouse or life as a whole. All they do is report faults and paint negative pictures of people, events, communities or life as a whole. It's hard to get motivated when you're around such people. If you want to go far in life, disconnect yourself from such people. When the weather is only cloudy, they will tell you it's raining. When they see light at the end of the tunnel, they'd tell you it's a train and probably advice you to start saying your last prayer.

My dear reader, life is awesome and so are you! Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. When you have this orientation, you will easily have a can-do attitude to everything. Positive people will associate with you and guess what, you'll easily get hired too! My message to you is simple: You may have a funny accent but don't you fail to have a positive perspective of life!

NB: My blog has a new outlook. YAY! This is the kind of template I've always loved and I promise I will not be changing it again soon. LOL. Tell me if you like it. Thanks for reading. We had a game in the finals of the competition with a fellow African team and it was very intense. Personally, I don't like to lose such games. I give 150% on the pitch to win them. On this fateful day, we were playing very well until someone kicked me from behind and failed to apologise. I was hurt and instead of focusing on the big picture, which was, winning that game and advancing to the next round, my natural self was focused on how I'd return the 'favour' and perhaps cause more hurt than he caused me. I stopped playing fairly and was all out to get back at him. I had my chance; however, I hit him at the wrong place - right underneath the studs of his boots. He was not hurt but I sustained a knee injury that kept me out for six weeks. That was not the only price I had to pay; my team lost too and of course, failed to advance into the next round.

Many people have missed the mark in life because they fail to retain in their hearts, the big picture. Little occurrences distracts them from the main goal. They switch off at the sight of small battles and end up losing the war. For instance, you've been working in a particular organisation for some years and suddenly someone insignificant started hating on you. Because of that, you are now finding it hard to move on and without having secured another job, you resign from that position, failing to see the bigger picture! Peradventure, its one paper proving very difficult in the field of study you have chosen at school and because of that, you chose to waste a whole year by opting out of that course for another, failing to see the bigger picture! You keep moving from one relationship to the other claiming your ex's have issues; perhaps you got out of some of them too early, failing to see the bigger picture!

There is always a price to pay when the big picture is not in perspective. What happens is, you keep quitting till you can no longer quit. You keep getting pushed to the wall until there is nowhere else to go. You live your whole life in regrets wishing you had focused on the bigger picture. Maybe this is how you've been living life before now; but with this post, I would like to implore you; from henceforth, quit quitting at the slightest sight of challenges, setbacks, or pain. Focus on the big picture. See what else might be in it for you beyond that particular predicament that is poking you right in the face. Don't lose sight of the main goal. Keep on keeping on; there will always be a way out.

Picture from here

- Le Dynamique Professeur

"Thank you for the other day"

Two weeks ago I hopped on the train from school, on my way home. I had a 'ten ride' train ticket with me. You know the kind that holes are punched into for each ride you take? Yeah, that's the one I'm talking about. It was late in the night, I wanted to buy another as all I had left was the last hole, meaning the next morning, I'd have to pay cash. The consequence of paying cash is losing my student-fare privilege of 40% off. I do study till late nights these days and had no choice but to pay for my own "sins". Back to the train ride. The train warder approached me for my ticket, I presented the one-hole remaining to be punched. He looked me in the eye and asked, "do you have a new one yet?". "No sir, the kiosk was no longer opened when I got there". He smiled and refused to be punch the hole. He gave it back to me and said, "you can use that tomorrow morning on your way to school". So excited, I said to him, "Thank you very much sir". I buried myself back into the journal articles I had printed to last me the 55mins journey.

A few days later, on my way home again, same time, but a different scenario. This time I had a ticket with only a few holes punched. It was the same train warder I met the other day; he approached me and as usual, asked for my ticket. While I presented it to him, just as he was about to punch a hole in it, I said, "thank you for the other day sir". He looked me straight in the eye, refused to punch the whole, smiled and gave it back to me. He did not say a word but I caught the lesson: "the grateful will keep getting blessed" GBAM!

Let me ask you my sweet reader, when was the last time those words came out of your mouth; "thank you for the other day"? Have you said that to your maker lately? When last did you say this to your boss in the office; even your colleagues? Have you ever said that to your spouse? I mean, do you think it is important to return to anyone that has done you good and say thank you again? I just heard someone say, "again?!" Yes, again! I meant it when I said it.

I know things are not always the way you want them but you can change that by choosing to always be grateful. I know that person that did you good recently isn't always like that, but at least, he/she did it. Quit the habit of taking things for granted. A little appreciation; maybe I should say re-appreciation can go a long way. You never know; it could get you a job tomorrow; it could fix you up for a promotion; it could get you a friend you will always thank God for. Most importantly, every day of your life, when you wake up from sleep, its one of the best times to say to God, "thank you again". There are many people without the opportunity of sleeping and waking up in peace and here you are, you get that blessing every single day, again and again... Don't be an ingrate; don't take things for granted; form an habit of appreciating people more than once.

Thanks for reading.

- Le Dynamique Professeur

The Heart of a Champion | Guest post by Damore

Some years ago, I went out to visit my aunt, where I saw my baby cousin learning how to walk. I was amazed! For some reason, watching her stagger on her tiny feet moved me to tears. My aunt and I were cheering her, when all of a sudden she fell hard and flat on her face. I was scared! A big frown replaced my smile instantly. The moment I tried to reach out for her, I felt my aunts grip tighten on my arm as she said amidst laughter 'aba! You too dey fear. Just watch her; she'd stand up by herself.' And truly, in what seemed like seconds, Hali staggered up on her tiny feet and continued her journey to wherever it was that she was going. . Then I heard my aunt scream out 'yeah! That’s my champion!' Champion, you say? Yes, champion of course!

Who is a champion? My dictionary defines a champion as the best competitor, or a supporter. Correct, of course! Nevertheless, I say a champion is someone who stands stronger and taller after every fall, just like my baby Hali :).

Everyone was born to be a champion. The only thing is that some of us do not realise it. Once you realise the fact that you were born to win; that Amaka at your school, or Chibuzor in your office, or any of such other people that always seem to win everything everywhere, only win because you let them to; because you've probably not tried giving yourself the much deserved chance at what they do; or perhaps you are just not where you were destined to shine; and that, just if you'd find the best means to develop your talent, you can very much become like them, or even better than them, you automatically become a champion!

Most times we do not want to try something new, because we are scared of failure; or perhaps success! We think that if we try that new thing, it might not work out, but I challenge you with this- just what if 'it' works out? Why not try out that idea tugging at your mind today. Maybe it wouldn't work out? Maybe people would mock you as a failure. Who is a failure anyway, other than one who can try, but fails to try? A failure is not one who tried many times and failed, but one who failed many times, to try! A failure is one who quits trying.

Have you not heard of Thomas Edison, an American who was reported to have made 10,000 attempts (not 1, not 1,000) before perfecting the electric bulb? When asked the secret of his success, he said 'success is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration!' nice! Did you also see what I saw? Maybe not! He tried for 9,999 times and FAILED! However, on the 10,000th trial, he made history, and today, he is not a failure, and he is not ‘just a successful person’ but also a Legend!

If he had tried putting a square peg, in a round hole (putting his talent into wrong use), he may not have made it! If he had not tried, he would not have made it! If he were not determined to make it work, he would not have made it! If he did not persist regardless of what people thought, he would not have made it! So you see, he tried and persisted; he fell and stood again; he failed and failed again, but in the end, he made it! He was a champion!

The heart of a champion is made of real gold, such that the passage of time and the travails of life do not deter it! Nothing in life is easy; but anything worth having is worth striving and fighting for! If we do not fall, we will not appreciate what it feels like to stand up tall. Successful people do not just become successful, they work, strive, stomach insults, criticisms, hatred, disappointments. . Name it!

You are a champion! You were born to win! In your heart is the urge to find where you really fit, the zeal to work your skill and win, the will to keep trying when you don't make it, and the conviction that if 'they' can do 'it', you can do very much better at 'it'!

Wirrten by Damore, a wonderful writer and friend.

She blogs at www.dr2103.wordpress.com

Sorry, we don't fix it

Last week Saturday I took my car to a pick-a-part shop. Someone had earlier broken the rear wiper where I parked it while playing soccer. I needed to fix it as I will be getting my Warrant of Fitness sorted soon. Without the rear wiper, it is certain my car would not pass the Warrant of Fitness test. So, I got to the shop and asked for a rear wiper for my type of car. The guy went in and brought me one. Before I paid, I asked if they fix it too and he said, "sorry, we don't fix it". I was almost turning away; thinking of going to get it where they would help fix it but I got a hunch to buy it and then perhaps go else where to fix it.

Before paying for it, I asked if I could check whether its the right one. While checking, it dawned on me, "Wait, you could fix this yourself". I responded to the voice, "huh? But how". "If only you can get a small size spanner, you can get it fixed". I went back in, paid for the wiper and asked if I could get a small size spanner. To my amazement, the guy handed one to me. Within a matter of 2 minutes and no extra charge at all, I was done fixing my wiper. Then it dawned on me, I could have spent extra paying for fixing the wiper.

How many times in life we have had to pay extra because we fail to try? Trying is not weakness, its an effort towards achievement. Every mathematical theorem started as a trial and error; hypothesis before they got proven. No man can achieve or become anything without trying. My aim with this post is to encourage you in your pursuit to not stop trying. Keep trying to reach your goal; keep trying to fulfill your dreams; keep trying... the end of a man that tries always justifies his effort. I'll leave you with these beautiful quotes:

There is no comparison between that which is lost by not succeeding and that which is lost by not trying - Francis Bacon
Success is achieved and maintained by those who try and keep trying - W. There are about 5-6 of us in the current space I'm in. Truth is, sometimes I feel intimidated by these colleagues of mine. The reason is this, I usually get to the office by noon and while I'm trying to get administrative stuffs done as I find it hard to study until it gets to around evening time, these people are busy studying hard; typing away on their computers as if they would complete their thesis in a week. In my own little corner, I'd be wondering, hope I am not being lazy or lukewarm? How come its hard to get stuffs 'upstairs' when these guys are firing away! lol

Guess what though? By the time it's around 4-5pm and they are all gone, my brain settles. I sometimes would need a few minutes nap before this time. As soon as I settle in, I fire on as well till almost midnight or whenever my train time calls. I recently realized, time plays a major role in the events of our lives. Thing is; I am not a diurnal student like them. I am usually more active at night. What would take me 3hours to achieve during the day, I 'd likely spend just about an hour on it at night. That's just how it works for me over the years and now.

Are you trying to work by another man's clock? Feeling left out because things are happening for others and not you? Others are getting married and your boyfriend is yet to propose and you're sad. Your university mates seem way ahead into their postgraduate studies and money is a barrier to starting one for you?

Listen beloved, time plays an inevitable role in the life of every man. When it is your time, things will happen. When it is not, no matter how hard you try to make them happen, they either won't or you'll end up getting it wrong. I agree, we have to make some things happen. If we don't act, they wont happen. However, there are some events in our lives we just have to wait for our turn. After you have done all you can, then wait for your timing. I repeat, after you've done all you can! Don't measure your life by how far your friends have gone or by what the media says should be happening at your age. If you do, you will take actions that would eventually lead to a huge regret. After you have done all you can, WAIT for your time.

Back to where I was coming from...

Do you know why there are 12 months in a year?

Ever wondered why we have a leap year once every four years?

Do you know why the start of every new week is Sunday?

Ever thought about where there are new semesters and sessions at school?

Perhaps you have never thought about these questions before now. I have an answer for you though. But before I tell you the answer to these questions, quickly ponder on this statement I came across sometime ago, "There is hope for a tree when it is cut down. It will sprout again. Its shoots will not stop sprouting".

Have you noticed whenever a tree is cut down (that is, not taken out from the roots), a few days later, it grows again? The nature of a tree cut down is the answer to the questions above. Beloved, those questions are to remind you again that, there can be many starts for you so long as you are still alive.

I was driving the other day and I headed towards a motorway I thought would lead me to my intended destination. To my surprise, I started seeing trees, farms along the way pointing to me that I was on my way out of the city. As soon as I realised this, I decided to make a U-turn. I went back to where I was coming from - right where I started. This time, I took notice of every signboard on my way. I was careful not to miss any of them. I finally discovered where I missed the road. In no time, I was on the way to the exact place I intended to go. I got to my destination safely.

Many of us are too shy or scared to make a U-turn. We care so much about what people will say; how people will judge us; the cost of starting all over again. When you go back to where you started from, you have the advantage of seeing where and how you missed it. It is never too late for a man that still has breathe in his nostrils. Every event in life points to the fact that there can be many starts to a thing; an opportunity to begin again. Don't be a coward! BEGIN AGAIN!

No matter how bad things are for you, there is always an opportunity to begin again. Peradventure you have strayed away from the very path of purpose and fulfilment and you are wondering if its too late. It is never too late to begin again my friend. Are you reading this and you've always wanted to do something in your life and you have this thing suggesting to you that you've gone past that now and its no longer possible. Reply that voice within and say to it, "I can always begin again!" Is your home beginning to look like you don't recognise where it's going anymore; call your spouse and go back to your courting days - begin again together! Are your grades in academics becoming embarrassing? It's high time you got back to the serious student you once were - Yes, you can do it again! I've seen a man who got his PhD at 84. Listen, there's no end, except that which is decided by death or yourself. While death hasn't come, why not begin again???

- Le Dynamique Professeur

PS: Please while leaving a comment, let me know what you think about this new template. [Guest Post at Nuggets4Nobles]

All my life, I have been a lover of football. There is this thing in me that is always after the round leather. I often say, when I turn 70, I bet I’d still be playing with my grandchildren. Rewind back to secondary school days. I had just started to settle into my new school and started playing soccer with the boys. They all felt I was no good at the game so every single time we’re out playing, they’d ask me to stay in the goal. Back then, the people who were regarded as no good at the game play goalkeepers.

Whenever we’re about playing, we’d be ask to create a pool for selection in the middle for two self-nominated captains to choose from. I was never chosen into any of the teams; even the subsequent sets. I was always amongst the last 2 or 3, which automatically means I have to stay in goal. I excelled as a goal keeper; as I could still recollect making some brilliant saves. However, my desire was to be amongst the dribblers and shooters of the game. I was always seduced by their manoeuvres on the ball and the swagger with which they carry themselves on the field. They were often the cynosure for the girls. No one sees the goalkeeper except for that one time you make a brilliant save and all you get is a round of applause! You’re lucky if you get a round of it.

A day came, I got angry! Not actually angry as in wrath, but I made up my mind, “I was made for the in-field, not between the poles”. I can do just exactly (if not better than) what you guys do. I can dribble too. I can pass too. I can shoot as well. I don’t care if I am amongst the last three in the pool today, I still object to being a goal keeper. It took me days of not being selected but I was never ready to quit on my decision. Somehow, one day, my chance came! Some kind friend selected me into his team and the rest, as they say, is history. I established myself as a ‘Ronaldo’. My tricks and flicks didn’t go unnoticed and did I hear you ask about ‘the girls’; they saw me too! *laughs*

My point is, it is your responsibility to reject every label your peers, the society, the economy, your current job, your colour (fellow black people), and your suburb has assigned you. If you don’t get angry, you will remain a victim. Listen, if you don’t change, things will continue to change and you’ll be missing out. Change is constant but to benefit from it, you’ve got to be ready for it. You’ve got to make it count! You’ve got to welcome it! You’ve got to pioneer it! It is your responsibility! Follow your desires; chase your goals, soar towards your dreams; refuse to be a victim of stereotypical identity. History has the account of those who stood their grounds to reject the stereotypes societies have labeled them with. Do I need to remind you that they made it? Do you want me to do another post to recount their excellence? What are you waiting for? It is your responsibility! Get angry! Stand your ground! Reject that label! How many times in life you're trying to get things done so quickly and you keep getting the "take it easy" phrase and you're like, "am I going too fast?". The phrase also comes in several disguise such as, "slow down", "cut me some slack" and if you're like my fiance, she'd often say, "honey, relax..."

A few months back, I noticed a young man doing exploits on the internet. He writes beautifully and I just couldn't wait to introduce myself to him. I wanted to get to know him so we would do one or two things together. You know what they say about "great minds". So, I sent the young man an email and the response I got was something like, "Please send in a proposal giving details of your work | State: |Objective: | Strategy/ Implementation: | Resources (Human or Capital): | Duty description for hands on board: | Beneficiaries: | Time frame: ". When I read the reply, all I could say was, "Thank you". I immediately lost interest because practically, the fellow didn't seem interested in "relationship" but strictly "business".

How many times have we tried to keep things rather too complicated. We still remain professional even outside our office hours. People are trying to extend a hand of friendship to us, yet we feign a serious face not knowing we're only building a wall around ourselves. Many of us have lost relationships that could have been of immense benefits to us simply because while we could have kept it simple, we went overboard trying to exude some form of class!

Hardly can anyone go far (farther than they already have) without the relationship factor. Take note: not only people that are above you can get you up on the ladder. Even those below you can sacrifice their heads for you to step on for another lift. Relationships come first in life before business. You can sustain a business through relationship but its hard to get a genuine relationship on the bedrock of business! Relationship first, then business! Somewhat related to my last post... care for people first and then you can benefit from them. Remember, Keep It Simple Sweethearts!

Thanks for reading.

- Le Dynamique Professeur
