Hello!

So here's what I'm selling next - a hobo bag! This is a free pattern that I found online and am allowed to use it for commercial purpose. I used the original pattern for the whole bag but modified the straps a bit. Anyway, here it is!

Here are the specs :
Height : 11" (exculding straps)
Width : 13"
Depth : 2"
Straps length : 20"
Straps width : 2"
* 1 zippered pocket (8") on the inside
* Closes with magnetic snaps

There is 1 zippered pocket on the inside. The bag also closes with a magnetic snap.

I used 2 round rings to attach the straps to the body of the bag.

This bag is pretty handy- I use it everywhere nowdays! I can take out my wallet and other things easily from this bag. The fabric I used for this bag is from IKEA and for the lining I used cotton canvas.

Hello all!

So here's the long awaited post! I present to you my handmade handbags :)

Here are the specs :
Height : 7" (excluding straps)
Width : 10.75"
Strap length : 20" from on end to the other
Strap width : 1.13"
*Flap closes with velcro
*I use interface and batting to add structure to the body of the bag
Price : RM40 (not including delivery charges)

As you can see, the handbag is pretty small as I designed it that way. My wallet and handphone fits nicely in it. If you're going somewhere and would like to carry only those two items with you, this handbag is just perfect.

I used batting for the first time while making this bag. That's why you can see from the pictures the insides are not as flat and "nice" like my other bags. But I feel it's better to use batting and interface rather than interface alone for this bag. The result - the bag's good enough to rest you head on, seriously! :) This is because batting's mainly used to make quilts.

Hello everyone!

Here's a handbag that got me quite excited. I've been wanting to do this kind of bag for quite some time. I know it looks like a smaller version of my oversized tote but I had a hard time finding the right measurement for it. So here's the final product! It's red, it's bright, it's scary as I'm not fond of sewing with bright colours. But it turned out great and what else can I do but share it with you guys =)

Here are the specs :

Height : 7.5 " (excluding straps)
Width : 13 "
Length : 3"
Price : RM48 (not including delivery charges)
It has a large pocket on one side of the bag and the bag closes with a magnetic snap.

This bag fits nicely under your shoulder and the size provides easy access to your stuff. Here's how it looks when you carry it.

The fabric that I use here is from IKEA. If red is too strong for you and you'd like this bag to be in other colours, it won't be a problem. So e-mail me at dzaliqa@gmail.com if you're interested! I'm selling this for RM48.

Hello all!

I've been away from this blog for 3 months but somehow it feels longer than that. Anyway I'm back and I'll slowly update this space.

Here's something new for this blog. I've been doing these easy to do sewing projects using free tutorials on the net and I'd like you to try it too. So here's project number one! =)

This is the Sweet Greetings Portfolio. There are two sizes for you to choose from and I made the small one. The large one is a bit of a challenge for me but if you're able to make it, do show me how it turns out! You can get this pattern (and a whole bunch of others) here . Amy Butler's site is amazing (she's amazing too! way beyond amazing) Just looking at the pictures on her website excites me =)

There are two compartments for the folio. I personally think you can use this to put just about anything. My small pen and notebook could fit in here.

So try doing this if you have the time and post up the pics for me to see =)

Anyway, back to the stuff that I sell, I've one stock left for the oversized tote that I made a bit smaller.

The usual dimension would be 13.5" (H) X 18" (W) but for this bag it is 12.5" (H) X 16.5" (W). The usual selling price would be RM45 (excluding delivery) but for this bag, it'll only be RM30 including delivery! As I mentioned earlier there's only one left so hurry! Hello everyone!

First of all, sorry for the lack of updates! My aim is to update at least once a week (or more!) with new stuff. Been feeling a bit uncrafty lately but I'm slowly recovering =)

Anyway, I've wanted to do a wristlet for quite some time. It's basically a zippered pouch with a handle at the side. How difficult is that?! Yet I choose to ignore its simplicity and crack my brain to decide which style of bag I'd like to do next >_<

I decided to use a very stiff interfacing for this version of wristlet. It was a bad idea as the zipper became "wavy" when it should be straight. I'm not very happy with it. Not to worry as I'll use a lighter interface for your orders and hopefully your zippers will be straight as usual =)

Anyway, here are the measurements for the wristlet :
Height : 4.25"
Width : 9"
Strap : 5.5" long (when folded)
Light green lining, light brown zipper.
Price : RM25 (not including delivery charges)

Again, it looks a bit crooked as a result of a bad decision. It should be rectangular like my usual zippered pouch.

By the way, I've received e-mails asking me whether you can use you own fabric for the bags. Sure, it's fine with me! Hello all!

I wanted to do something with this fabric for quite some time. I decided to make a cushion out of it as I think it's rather appropriate, don't you think?

As you can see, the colours do clash with my other pillows. But that's the point! It aims (or rather my aim at making it hehehe) is to brighten up your day when you wake up in the morning :)
Specs : 16" X 17" with flaming red hot zipper :)

Those two other cushions were made by my mom when I was small. Yeap, those are cross stitch. She made lots of them when I was younger and I learned it from her. It's actually easy and I know anyone can do it.

I've wanted to do this for quite some time after stumbling upon the tutorial. So finally after finishing up the orders I got to do it yesterday. From the instructions it seemed pretty easy and straightforward. It was actually all that and more. My fingers were pricked sooo many times (as I had to do lots of pinning) that it bled! Not a pretty sight and definitely not a nice feeling.

Anyway in the end it didn't turned out well *sobs I used heavy interfacing so that it does look like a bucket/box. See it for yourself.

See? Terribly senget and all. I don't know what I did wrong.

Oh well, on a brighter note I'd like to share with you the two oversized tote that I made for two mommies =)

Lots of birds! Don't you think it's cute? I think it's super-cute. The animal fabric is by IKEA.

The picture above is of the inside pocket. There are two pockets on each side of the tote.

This is the other side of the tote. I know there's a lion, birds, a monkey (?) but I seriously don't know what the red animal is. Anyone?

Since both are mommies (one's expecting, congrats Kak Salmi! =) ) I added two pockets and made a base in the tote so that more things can be put in it.

For the other tote, the customer requested for the Kimono girls fabric. It's equally cute.

Polka Dot Zippered Pouch

Hi everyone!

When I bought the polka dot fabric, I knew I had to make this pouch from it.

Specs:

Height : 6.5 " (16.5 cm)
Width : A cool 15" =) (38.1cm)
Lining : Black colour (interfaced too)
Price : RM28 (not including delivery charges)
It's a (much) longer version of my earlier zippered pouch. I don't know what I'm going to put inside (hehehe) but I'll think of something. I just had to make it!

You can order yours too! It was such a joy making this. Maybe you won't want it as long as mine so do inform me on your desired length.
Anyway, I'd like to share with you a tote I custom made for a customer recently. Was surprised at how it turned out, and yes, it was a joy making this too!

Remember this fabric? It's the Japenese girls in Kimono fabric!

So happy with the way this tote turned out. Hope the customer will love it too!

New fabrics

Hi all!

Okay, I know it has been more than a week since I've updated the blog *sigh* Thousand apologies.

Anyway I'd like to share with you the fabrics I bought a few days before Raya. Bought them in our local fabric stores in KL and some in Ikea.

By the way, I thought this was realllllly cute when I first set my eyes on it. Still thinking what I should make with it.

Japanese girls in Kimono, kawaii! =)

The fabric in the picture above with animals on it is by Ikea. I got very excited upon seeing it because it was truly cute (I'm a sucker for cute stuff) Maybe I'd make a tote out of it.

You know what's so great about fabrics bags? Firstly if it gets dirty you can simply wash it. I'd suggest handwash rather than throwing it inside your machine so that they'd last longer. Secondly if it's all wrinkled you can iron the bags anytime. When you go on a holiday it's so easy to pack the bags. Just throw em into your suitcase! They won't take much space at all.

Because my stuff are handmade and I'm doing the whole thing alone, it takes some time to sew them. You can get similar bags outside with a cheaper price because they are mass produced but who'd want something that's so similar to everyone else ? =) Speaking of prices, I don't think my bags are expensive. They're very affordable, seriously.

Big zippered pouch

Hey everyone!

I had a hard time naming this item I made. A customer recently ordered this to put in his laptop so we call it a laptop sleeve.

I used one of the Black and White series fabric for this big zippered pouch. There's a pocket inside with a light brown lining.

Here's one I made as a prototype for the laptop sleeve aka big zippered pouch.

I sewed in sponge on both sides of the bag to protect the things that you want to put inside. With the sponge in between, the bag feels like a pillow, seriously! =)

Amy Karol's Artsy Clutch

Hi everyone!

This was the very first item I made when I bought Amy Karol's excellent book called Bend-the-Rules Sewing. I love it so much that I decided to sell it to you guys (and hoping that you all like it too!)

Specs :

Height : 5" (when folded as seen in the picture)

Width : 7"

The lining is dark blue.

Price : RM25 (not including delivery charges)

This is called an Artsy Clutch. It's cute right? =) It's basically a pouch and when you fold the top part, it becomes a clutch! It goes so well with a baju kurung (Raya's near!) I almost didn't want to sell this (mainly because of the fabric) but I thought you guys might like it as much as I do, so yeah, here you go!

By the way, this is an original design by Amy Karol from her book Bend-the-Rules Sewing published by Potter Craft, 2007. I'm allowed to sell this by the way so don't you guys worry about me stealing someone's idea =) Amy Karol's so kind by the way.

I forgot to take a pic of the insides but basically you can put your handphone, compact, lipstick, a few cash and tissues. See? Great for Raya when you go visiting! I know I'll be bringing mine.

Since I've limited amount of this gorgeous fabric, only 6 pieces will be sold! So it's a first come first serve thingy, sorry.

Anyway I'll be fabric shopping this weekend (I know, my fabric's kinda limited hehehe) so stay tuned for more bags by me. I'm trying to design more bags and update this blog for you guys but since I'm doing it all alone, time's not really on my side but I'll try! =)
