Although off-site optimization is generally considered to be more important, ignoring on-site search engine ranking factors can be costly. Things like solid internal linking and keyword-rich titles can have a very significant impact (as I’ve said before). Meta tags, while they’ve fallen out of vogue as the on-site optimization method of choice, can also play an important role in your site’s search engine rankings.

What are meta tags?
For those who don’t know, a meta tag is an HTML tag that resides in the section of a web page. Unlike other HTML tags, meta tags do not appear anywhere on the page itself, so most visitors never see them. Different meta tags serve different purposes, but they are generally used to provide additional information about the page. The meta description tag, for example, provides a brief summary of the page’s content. How this information gets used varies from tag to tag.

Which meta tags are worthwhile?
There are a lot of meta tags out there, but very few of them are useful. In fact, chances are good that a site that doesn’t use any meta tags at all will function just as well as a site that does. Some have their uses, however, particularly when communicating with search engine spiders. Here’s the breakdown of every meta tag you’re likely to come across:

Abstract – Use the meta description tag instead.

Author – Sure, it’s nice to plaster your name all over your content. However, the best place to do that is somewhere in the content itself to avoid confusion.

Cache-Control – It’s historical use has been to keep users from seeing outdated versions of your website. Since this is rarely an issue nowadays, it’s no longer as useful. Note, also, that it will do next to nothing to prevent your site from being cached by search engines; you should use the robots meta tag for that purpose.

Classification – Considering how badly spammed the keywords meta tag has been, I can’t see such an arbitrary tag doing any better.

Content-Language – This one’s iffy. Ascertaining the language of the content on a site is rarely a big issue. Use it only if you need to clarify from one page to the next, such as if you have multiple translations of the same page.

Content-Type – This one’s actually important. You can assign the character set of a page using one of several methods, including the content-type meta tag. Make sure you do so in some way on every page.

Copyright – Like the author meta tag, you probably should add the copyright notice directly to the body of your website.

Description – Although its no longer useful for ranking purposes, the description tag is often still used in generating snippets (the text that appears beneath the title in the search engine result pages). It is, therefore, a very powerful tool for drawing in potential visitors. Never underestimate the power of controlling each page’s marketing message to the world.

Designer – The same as author and copyright tags, insert this on the website itself.

Distribution – If a page is meant for internal distribution only, it should be properly blocked using robots.txt or the robots meta tag (below). This tag is completely unnecessary.

Expires – If you have content that shouldn’t be crawled or indexed after a certain period of time, it might be useful. For bloggers, the occasion will probably never arise.

Generator – This one is only used by automated web authoring software, so there’s no point to input it by hand.

GoogleBot – If you have some dire need to instruct one search engine spider differently than another, go ahead.

Keywords – Once upon a time, this might have been useful. Since it was so frequently spammed, however, it no longer carries any ranking benefit. It’s still commonly used, however, and it might even be worthwhile in second-rate search engines, but it won’t get you anywhere with the big boys. If you choose to use it, do not, but do not stuff it!

Owner – See the note about the author meta tag.

PICS-Label – See the note about the rating meta tag.

Pragma – Telling browsers whether or not to cache your page could be handy for usability depending on your site. However, I’ve heard that it doesn’t enjoy a lot of support.

Publisher – See the note about the generator meta tag.

Rating – Like so many web standards, it would be great if it were actually used. However, the sites that deserve a rating of “Mature” or “Restricted” rarely broadcast it. Don’t bother with it; let the rating of your content speak for itself.

Refresh – If you’re redirecting one page to another, use a 301 redirect. Meta refreshes are generally regarded as spam.

Reply-To – See the note about the author meta tag.

Revisit-After – Even if getting frequent visits from search engine spiders offered any competitive advantage (it doesn’t), they aren’t going to visit your site more frequently just because you ask them to. This one’s only useful for limiting the frequency of spidering, not increasing it.

Robots – Although you can use the robots.txt file to issue site-wide directives to search engines, the robots meta tag is very handy for controlling spidering on a page-by-page basis. You can tell search engines whether a page should be indexed, whether it should be archived, whether or not its links should be followed, and even how to generate its search result snippet.

Subject – Your title tag should communicate your subject; using a meta tag to do so is unnecessary.

Title – Don’t bother with the meta title tag when your ordinary title tag does the job much better.

Unavailable-After – Believe it or not, this one’s brand new and supported by Google. Why they didn’t just go with the expires meta tag is anyone’s guess. At any rate, like it’s identical twin, it will rarely if ever be useful for bloggers.

There are literally dozens more meta tags out there, few of which enjoy any widespread use. When in doubt about whether a meta tag is worthwhile or not, it’s probably best to assume it isn’t. Otherwise, you’ll just end up cluttering your page headers with a lot of useless junk.

Adding Your Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools

First,go to google webmaster tools and sign in with your Gmail account.

After you logged in, you will see this asking you to add a site. your blog URL (ex: email-club.blogspot.com).Don't add with http or www.

Overview
Next, it asks you to verify your site. It is just to confirm whether you are the owner or not.CLICK on the 'verify your site' link.

Meta Tag
There are two ways to verify your ownership but, there is only one way for the blogger users and that is by adding a metatag. This will be generated by google and you will be asked to copy and place in the html source of your blog.

Metatag
Copy the metatag.Now, sign into your blogger account>Click the layout button>Edit html and paste the metatag just after the head tag and save the changes.

Step 7
Verification
Click the verify button in the Google webmaster tools and there will be a confirmation message saying that you have successfully verified.

Add Sitemap
Now, you have to submit a sitemap for Google to crawl your site. Go back to the Google webmaster dashboard or (home) and click the 'site configuration.(After Click on the site that you want to add its site map).A drop down is given where you will click on sitemaps link which is next to your blog name and in the Sitemaps column. Click on add sitemap.

Step 9
The Sitemap URL for any normal website is usually the index page that is stored in the highest-level directory of that site. In the case of Blogger.com or Blogspot.com, the only way to add a Sitemap is to use either of the following 2 Sitemaps:-

In My last post, I talked about submitting your site to search engines listings free of charge. Today, I want to talk about submitting your blog to blog directories. Blog directories are just like blog search engines. A million blogs will be listed and you can just go to a particular category to search for which blog you need. That way, you dont have to be scrambling all over the internet for what you need, you will definitely find them in the blog directories. So in one word, blog directories create a central point for all blogs to feature their contents and the good part is that most are free of charge.

Of all that i know, I will like to recommend the following. Do not be weary, most will ask you to put their banner on your site, dont let that bother you, just do that and you will not regret it. Even if its just 10 loyal readers they send to you, your traffic is gradually growing and in no time, you will smile too.

Let us take a look at 20 popular directories worthy of your consideration.

1. Best of the Web Blog Search La Crem de la Crem, Best of the Web’s Blog Directory is very selective and only lists aged and valuable blogs. A link from here is majestic and well deserved.

2. Bloggeries has the best categories and subcategories home page on the internet. The layout is clear and concise, and readers are able to find what they are looking for in a snap!

I am really liking what Rob is doing with Bloggeries and this is bound to be one of the premier Blog Directories on the web.

3. EatonWeb Blog Directory is a real jewel with many aged inbound links and a blog rating system. You may have to pay a fee for your blog to be reviewed, but like Yahoo, the review fee is well worth the few dollars.

4. OnToplist.com is a free human-edited blog directory where you submit the RSS feed of your blog. You can also set up your own micro-directory (blog ranking) and compile a list of your favorite blogs in one place. OnToplist is also a social network that allows you and other bloggers to get in touch and promote your blog by attracting more readers.

5. Blogged.com is an interesting mix of a blog directory and a Google News type site which fuels its news feed from the blogs listed on the site. Blogged.com is very impressive and is free to list your blog.

6. One of the most selective Blog Directories on the web (and Wordpress powered), Blog Search Engine is owned by Performancing’s parent company and serves search results powered by IceRocket.

7. Blog Catalog features a vast directory of categories, from academic to writing, while offering the ability to search by country, language, or user. It has a no frills design, but offers convenient member access through simple blog registration.

8. Globe of Blogs has too many features to list. In order to be listed on the site, the blog must not be commercial. The site may appear to be busy, but I like the features of being able to search by title, author, or subject. Narrowing the search becomes easier on this blog.

9. The ultimate directory of British blogs connotes all things British. It is not directed by location, but by the culture! It is asked that bloggers be genuinely “britished.” Being listed in this blog reaches readers all the way across the pond!

10. Blog Universe is the perfect place to promote your video or podcast themed blog. Its layout is easy to navigate. Although the content is limited, it is an all around good directory site worthy of submission.

11. Bigger Blogs is a relatively new blog directory with only a few blogs registered. The blog is intertwined with a business directory. The blog section is difficult to find, and it is located through a link on the right side of the business directory page. However, the benefit is that the earlier you are accepted on a blog directory, the more exposure your blog will obtain. 13. Bloggapedia has an interesting and eye catching homepage. Readers are easily connected to the top blogs and newest posts. Innovative categories and a colorful design make this blog directory a hit.

14. Spillbean is a well-designed blog directory site with categories such as health, society, internet, and personal. The site is aesthetically pleasing, but there are not many listings yet.

15. Blogging Fusion is a blog with over sixty categories. These categories include photo blogs and family focused blogs. Blogging Fusion has an good amount of blog listings within the directory, and it also has visitor stats available.

16. Blogflux is not only a tool for bloggers, but a directory that has the listings in alphabetic order. The blog listings are organized and clear. It is definitely an effective blog directory in which to be listed.

17. The blogs on the top listings of Bloglisting are fun, colourful, and catch the attention of the reader. Bloglisting displays the page ranking blogs, which is a helpful tool when determining with whom you want to exchange links.

18. Blogio may be a small blog directory with few listings, but it worthy of a submission. Despite its small size, there are quality blogs and a solid ability to search on this site.

19. Blog Explosion claims to be the largest blog promoter on the internet. They have a vast directory but do not seem to have direct links. However, the listing in the directory can still show up in SERP’s, so keep this in mind.

20. Super Blog Directory is a great site that offers tools to posters that others do not. You can see the latest submitted links and blogs on the site, which is a perk that draws traffic into the directory.

For new bloggers, the issue has always been how to drive traffic to our new blogs. The truth is that we have great contents but how to get the world to come see is the problem. Casino Cash

Step 1
The first thing you need to do is find a casino. Today's laws have allowed a lot of casinos to open in nearly every state. Make sure that the casino you visit has table games and not just racing and slots! Table games like Texas Hold 'Em and Blackjack are where you can make money. STAY AWAY FROM THE SLOTS! Once you pick your destination you'll want to find a hotel (unless you're lucky enough to live near a casino). I never get a room at the casino. There is always a cheaper hotel within ten minutes of any casino. The area in which I play has a hotel very close for $50 a night. The casino charges $130 on weekdays! If you're there to make money, you also need to save money on living expenses. Remember, you have to make up for everything you spend before you can start calling it a profit.
Step 2
Once you're settled in, go to the casino and get a feel for the place. Some of them are very big and they're designed to draw your attention to their big money-makers (mostly slots). Find their poker room and find out what games they offer. I ALWAYS play Texas Hold 'Em. It has one of the lowest house advantages. The casino actually just takes a cut off the top and leaves the rest of the money to the players, so you're playing against people, NOT the house. The best way to make money is to play a game you know and like. Know the odds and play them. I strongly suggest Hold 'Em, but you can also play other forms of poker, blackjack, or even craps. Craps- believe it or not- has a very low house advantage. I don't know much craps strategy, though, so you'll need to learn how to play well.
Step 3
Okay, you're set up with a place to stay and you know your way around the casino. Find out if you need to register for any kind of 'player's card' and do so. Now figure out your bankroll and start using it! A bankroll is the amount of money you have to start gambling. I suggest starting with a MINIMUM of $500. The more you have to start the easier it is to build it with conservative play. A key rule is control. Regardless of the odds or your skill level, you're still gambling. Nobody wins every hand or every tournament. Thus, the general rule is to never put more than 5% of your bankroll on any table or any tournament. This is the most important aspect to gambling. If you keep getting beat at a table, don't keep going back for more chips! I know losses can be frustrating, but if you're going to be a gambler you have to accept loss and move on. Once you find a good table, though, stick with it! Get to about 2 or 3 times what you invested on the table and cash out. Then you take a break and come back with the original investment amount to do it again.
Step 4
A great way to make money playing Hold 'Em is to enter tournaments. Try to find one with a reasonable buy-in and a cap on the amount of entrants. It's not much fun trying to outlast 5,000 people, but a field of 100 will still have decent payouts. The great thing about tournaments is that you don't have to be the best. You just have to make it to 'the money'! Most tournaments pay out around 10% of the field. Thus, if there are 100 people enrolled, you need to get somewhere around tenth place to cash. You don't have to outrun the near, as they say...
Step 5
The flip-side to Hold 'Em tournaments are cash tables. There is always a minimum and a maximum amount that you can set down with at any table. For instance, I often play a $1/$2 blind table. The minimum you must bring to the table is $50 and the max is $200. This will vary from casino to casino. If you're good you can turn $50 into $150, get up, came back, and do it again. If the table has a lot of big stacks, however, you don't want to sit down with the minimum. This makes it much easier for people to bully you around. The great thing about cash games is that the blinds never go up. In a tournament you're forced to play hands or be blinded out. On a cash table you can afford to sit around and wait for cards to hit. CONSERVATIVE: That's the main word at a cash table. You don't have to play every hand and there's no need to do a lot of bluffing. If you bluff you will often get called. There is a time to bluff, but make it seldom at a cash table!
Step 6
Whether you play cash tables or tournaments, do not exceed 5% of your bankroll! You may make exceptions every now and again (especially if your bankroll is very small), but stick to this rule and you won't go broke! My personal favorite money-maker is Texas Hold 'Em tournaments. As long as you place, you've at least made your money back. I play fairly conservatively and I place in about 80% of the tournaments I enter. Just remember, you want to build your bankroll not lose it! Once you find what game works for you, stick to it! Do not let the bells and whistles draw you away and empty your wallet. The two games with the highest house advantage are Keno and Slots. Stay away from them unless you intend to lose! Roulette isn't a whole lot better. I suggest sticking to poker and blackjack. If you know how to count cards, do it! There's no law against it, but it is frowned upon, so don't count on your fingers. I don't count cards. I play Hold 'Em and I know what my odds are of winning any given hand.
Step 7
The best way to get good is to practice! Many online gaming sites offer free poker. I play on Full Tilt, but some people prefer Poker Stars and the other ones. Keep in mind that the .net sites do not allow gambling. If you plan to play any real money games, visit the .com. Every site has a .net and a .com. If you just want to practice, use the .net. I suggest using real money if you can, though. This will give you a better feel for the game. If people don't have anything invested they will make stupid calls and play carelessly. The higher the stakes, the better poker players you are going to run into. It sounds backwards, but you have the best chance against the better players. Someone that doesn't know what they're doing might call your all-in with a 7-2 off suit. When this happens, the flop is usually 7-7-2 or some such ridiculousness.
Step 8
If you keep to your 5% bankroll rule and don't keep putting money on a bad table, you should be able to make a profit. Remember: casinos are designed to TAKE YOUR MONEY. Play the games that pit you against other players, not the house. Texas Hold 'Em is the BEST game to play in a casino. Especially with the popularity of the game... lots of people want to play it just because they've seen it on TV. Every table has 'dead money'. This is someone who has no idea what they're doing. People like this bet just to bet and it's generally pretty easy to take their money. Lots of people are hyper-aggressive, for instance. These people bet almost every hand and raise just as much. Fold to them until you catch a good hand and then bust them hard! Call their raises until the river then raise! I will post some Hold 'Em strategies on here, too, so check back. As long as you know what to play (and what not to play) and you stick to your budget, there is a high probability that you're gonna walk out with more than you brought! Always be patient and always be confident. Know that you are a good player and don't let others get you down. If you lose, you lose. You'll win the next one as long as you're patient enough to keep yourself out of trouble... I hope this article helps you to keep your shirt the next time you go gambling! I never really got into the whole MySpace thing that much. I’ve used facebook a bit more but that’s mostly my wife’s fault. However, I’ve recently joined another social networking site and I might actually use this one. Why? Because they pay you to use it.

Yuwie.com is, from what I’ve seen so far, very similar to other social network sites. It’s free to sign up, you can blog, upload pictures, create “clubs” (which I believe are similar to Facebook’s groups), and you’re paid by the number of monthly page views you generate. The site is quite new best I can tell but it appears to be growing rapidly. According to the website, they added more than 1800 new members today. That’s a pretty staggering number but it doesn’t surprise me all that much and I’ll tell you why. Yuwie gives you credit for referring people to the site up to 10 levels deep!

I don’t know about you, but as soon as I hear about several levels or tiers when it comes to referrals a big red flag goes up and I immediately think pyramid scheme. Flashes of all those Algoco posts proclaiming how you can make thousands just by surfing the net sprang to mind. Naturally, I did a bit of digging around before deciding whether or not to sign up. It definitely does appear that those who jump into this early and start referring friends are going to be the ones making the most money. However, I don’t think this really qualifies as a pyramid scheme. For one, you’re earnings aren’t dependent on referring people. You can generate as many page views as your marketing methods will allow. Imagine getting one of your Yuwie blog posts to the front page of Digg or Stumbled a few times. Finally that hoard of traffic would be automatically monetized. And besides, even if you don’t earn anything from it, you’re still networking and connecting with others like you would on Facebook or MySpace. I mean those site’s don’t pay you do they?

The other factor that alleviated my concerns was that people were openly sharing how much they’ve made…. and it’s not been all that much. So far it looks like people are generally making less than $10 a month. You didn’t read that wrong, this actually made me more comfortable with the site. If people were talking about getting rich using Yuwie and how they are just waiting for their huge payday, I’d probably leave the site and never look back. This site doesn’t appear to be promising that you’ll make a fortune, they just seem to be saying “if you’re using sites like this anyway, why not get paid a bit too?” They do include this “example” graph of what your earnings could look like if you referred three people and each of those people referred three people and so on up to level 10, however, no one on the site, especially the members, are promoting it as a get rich quick program. To me, that’s a much more believable situation and something I feel like I can be a part of. I might end up using it for a week and forgetting about it like I did MySpace, but then again, maybe not. Maybe I’ll end up wasting an hour or so of my time and a post as well, but I also might end up making a few extra dollars a month as well. Either way, I figure it’s worth a shot.

Now, before I start to sound too much like an infomercial, let me point out a couple of things.

1. You have to have a minimum of $50 before you can get paid.
2. We pay net 60 which means any earnings for August will be paid around November 1. (We have to collect from advertisers before we can pay you)
To Yuwie’s credit though, they made those points abundantly clear and in fact that’s a direct quote from their site. While I’m not a fan of the net 60 part, I do appreciate them being up front about issues like that.

I know this has been a serious issue in a long time for Nigerians and people beyond. Paypal remains the world leader in online business transactions which leaves whoever does not have it in the dark of the internet's happening side.

Nigerians have been blocked from accessing paypal for reasons best known to the organization but nevertheless, where there is a will, there is a way. Now this is a no nonesense approach. 1. Go to http://www.netspend.com/ to get a U.S. bank account. Now this site will require that you provide a valid U.S address and if you dont have this, then you cant move ahead. Not to worry though, if you dont have a US address, just go to google and find any US address you want and use it. I know that sounds crazy but thats what you will do if you dont have one.

2. After you have been able to register on netspend.com, go to ''load"' on the netspend dashboard and this will take you to a place where you can see options of loading on your US account. Scroll down to paypal payments and click on it. This will also take you to where you see your account details like the bank name, which is METABANK, the routing number which is something like 0739....181, and your account number which always starts with 7000....After your have these, then we can go ahead.

3. Go to paypal.com and open a personal account. Input your details. You will be directed to where you will be asked if you want to deposit with a bank or with a credit car, select bank account. Then input your bank details which you got from netspend.

4. Check bank in the next three days to find that your netspend account has been credited by paypal with small amounts which you are expected to go and enter into your paypal account as verification process. You can see the amounts when you click on transaction history in the netspend dashboard when you log in.

5. Log on to your paypal account and click verify bank. Input the amounts sent by paypal into a space provided and bam, you are done. Your account is now verified.

NOTE:
Change your password every month and make sure you proceed with care and you will not have your account limited. When i say proceed with care, i mean desist from any activity that seems fraudulent.
