EVE University [E-UNI], the premier training institution in EVE Online for over 8 years, with alumni in thousands of different corporations and alliances, today announced the creation of three new sister corporations:  EVE Akademie for German speakers, EVE Institut for Russian speakers and, to assist the new Japanese EVE players, EVE Daigaku.

These new corporations have been created to fill the gap in the marketplace for non-English-speaking training groups covering all aspects of EVE, and will leverage the existing structure, resources and training materials of EVE University. Each will have their own language specific communities, classes and events, but will combine forces for fleet operations as part of the Ivy League Navy.

Each individual corporation will be run by its own Director of Operations, reporting to E-UNI CEO Kelduum Revaan with staff filling critical positions below them. Native speakers of German, Russian and Japanese are currently being sought to assist in staff positions and localizing various materials.

Kelduum stated: “For some time EVE has been lacking localised equivalents of EVE University for non-English speakers, and with our resources and alumni network, it makes sense to utilize this to bootstrap the relevant corporations.”

Each of the new corporations are expected to open individually in the next few weeks, dependent on staffing and other resources, and are expected to launch with E-UNI’s existing programs of classes, mentoring, ship replacement, hangars and skillbook reimbursements, among other resources provided to new players.

UNI Director Darian Reymont stated, “This means we get to expand the nullsec portions of our training, and allows us to offer our students a genuine experience in a nullsec environment. We won’t be changing our rules or policies, nor will we be abandoning our neutrality. E-UNI will still be E-UNI, only it can now offer ‘moar’.”

The UNI camp in Fountain was made possible by an offer of cooperation with TEST Alliance Please Ignore.  Darian Reymont explains, “TEST approached us with an idea. They would allow us to set up a camp inside the NPC pocket within Fountain and give us access to their jump bridge network and markets, and all we needed to do was set them blue (+5 standings).”

EVE University CEO Kelduum Revaan elaborated: “It should be noted quite clearly that with us accepting this offer of assistance, it does not align us with TEST or anyone aligned with them. If anyone has a similar offer, then please do let us know. As per our existing rules of engagement, we won’t be assisting TEST or any other locals with defence, or providing any other resources to them – one of the most important elements is that this camp is based in NPC nullsec, albeit fairly deep in sov null, which means we aren’t providing rent, resources or anything similar.”

The camp in null sec is not a novel event for the UNI. Although headquartered in Aldrat in the Metropolis region, EVE University has been operating camps of students in other parts of New Eden, in order to provide a full range of educational experience to students.

The UNI Low Sec Camp, generally known as the LSC, has been operating for months in low security systems of Metropolis.  The LSC gives UNI students the opportunity to experience PvP and teaches about how to thrive without the benevolent protection of CONCORD.

The Amarr Mining Camp, or AMC, was started to take advantage of the higher prices of Pyroxeres, which is found in Amarr space.  The AMC has grown into a valuable educational experience for UNI miners and haulers.

One of EVE’s most well-known personalities, Azual will respond to questions submitted in Lecture.E-UNI in-game chat, while speaking on the UNI Mumble server. UNI Director of Education, Neville Smit, will moderate the event.

“We’re very excited to sponsor Azual for this event,” said Smit. “He is clearly one of the foremost authorities on player-versus-player combat in EVE. I can’t wait to see what kinds of questions our audience will bring.”

The event is open to anyone, though registration on EVE University’s forum and on the UNI’s public Mumble server is required.

The Council of Stellar Management (CSM) is a player-elected council who represent the views of the members of the EVE Online community to Crowd Control Productions (CCP), the providers of EVE Online. The CSM communicates with CCP through at least two three-day summits held each term in CCP’s headquarters in Reykjavik, Iceland, and through dedicated forums and online conferences.

“I am very pleased to have been elected to the CSM and would like to thank all those who voted for me,” Kelduum said. “I’m looking forward to taking my seat on the council and will do my best to ensure that all EVE players are represented fairly.”

The CSM 7 term will begin on April 4th, and last into early 2013.  The next CSM will be elected before Fanfest 2013, scheduled for April 25-27, 2013.

‘EVE University’ vs ‘Red vs Blue’ (aka ‘Purple’)

We’ve been speaking with RvB about some more PvP practice, as the last war was a load of fun (mostly) for both sides, with RvB being a great match for the Uni, so E-UNI will be declaring war on them for a short war, from 11:00 EVE time on Thursday 26th until 11:00 EVE time on Sunday 29th.

While there are some restrictions applied beyond the normal Wartime SOP, this is sure to be an entertaining few days.

“At 14:52 I witnessed a fleet of Reds and Blues come out of warp and destroy a Raven-class E-UNI battleship. In less than a minute an E-UNI fleet arrived and engaged, and there was heavy combat for at least the next couple of minutes, but I didn’t stick around to see how it turned out.”

CONCORD reports that the Ivy League alliance has declared war on The 0rphanage, BLUE Republic, and RED Federation, and has received declarations of war from Kill It With Fire, Sleeper Social Club, The Devil’s Warrior Alliance, Skunk Works., and others. This sudden increase in hostilities is believed to be a result of E-UNI’s recent suspension of its WSOP.

E-UNI CEO Kelduum Revaan has promised medals of recognition to all students who remain in the University through this time of turbulence, but it remains to be seen how the membership numbers will change even as perennial adversaries Human After All and Veldspar Defence Force have announced they are stepping up recruitment of E-UNI capsuleers who wish to turn against their alma mater.

“It’s time to make a point and for everyone to see how bad it used to be,” declared Kelduum Revaan, CEO of EVE University.  Revaan was referring to the third quarter of YC 108, when two months of war following E-UNI’s evacuation of the Geminate region spurred university leadership to charter the Ivy League alliance and reconsider its response to declarations of war.

Thinking of that time, Revaan recalled, “There were next to no rules, certainly no SOP, and the killboard outside our corporate offices was covered with four to five pages of ship losses per day from a couple of hundred E-UNI members.”

E-UNI Fleet Admiral Silentbrick claimed responsibility for proposing the change in policy. “I believed that too many generations had passed since there had been no SOP, and while many of our students can intellectually understand [the reasoning behind the SOP], they don’t truly know what it’s like otherwise.”

Irdalth Delrar, E-UNI Director of Public Relations, expressed concern with the effect of the policy change on student retention. “The SOP was created because we found that capsuleers were more likely to complete their training when in a controlled environment. Before we had the SOP, wars made our retention rate drop significantly.”

In his announcement, Revaan indicated that the suspension of the WSOP was temporary and that if over 50% of the university membership were to sign a petition for its immediate reinstatement, he would consider complying. Otherwise, the WSOP will remain suspended through October 16.

One of the longest tenured players in EVE, Chribba is renowned for his “carebear” prowress, and can often be seen flying The Veldnaught in Amarr. Chribba’s celebrity also springs from the multitude of services he has provided EVE Online’s playerbase over the years, all completely free of charge. The most famous of these is EVE Files, a dedicated file hosting service for videos and screenshots of the game.

The event will be open to E-UNI members and alumni, so come prepared with your questions!

Ian Chisholm is most prominently known in the EVE community as being the creator of the (to date) three Clear Skies short films – a machinima series based in the EVE Universe starring John Rourke and his crew.
