Ujwala sent this photo from Berlin. A city steeped in history and scarred by a 30 year struggle between east and west, Berlin today is unlike any other city in Europe. Berlin is a world-class city with hundreds of years of history to absorb and explore. It has been the hub of many meaningful events and there is evidence of that almost everywhere you look, and there are things to do in Berlin from the Brandenburg Gate to Sanssouci Palace.

This photo is taken in Berlin’s Botanischer Garten which includes the Botanic Museum Berlin. With an area of 43 hectares (110 acres) and around 22,000 different plant species it is one of the largest and most diverse gardens in the world. Ujwala loves to visit different garden of Berlin in her free time.

Ujwala is a student and completing her graduation from a University in Berlin-Brandenburg capital region. The Berlin-Brandenburg capital region is one of the most prolific centers of higher education and research in the European Union. The city has four universities and numerous private, professional and technical colleges (Fachhochschulen), offering students a wide range of disciplines.

Ujwala has another hobby, that 99.9% of girls posses i.e, shopping. She often take a stroll down the Kurfurstendamm, Berlin’s leading shopping center.

Kanwal Khan is living with her hubby in Glasgow. Glasgow in Scotland is the United Kingdom’s fourth largest city and is a city that has reinvented itself, from being an economically depressed centre to a magnificent modern metropolis. With its thriving arts and culture scene, culture vultures are drawn to its art galleries, Victorian architecture, and art events. Glasgow was dubbed ‘The European City of Culture’ and ‘City of Architecture’ in the 1990’s.

Kanwal is a post-graduate student, she had completed her initial education from Punjab University, Lahore. Kanwal got married to her cousin. Glasgow is a major center of education and academic research. Kanwal is completing her post-graduate studies in IR (international relations) from University of Glasgow. The University of Glasgow is the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s four ancient universities. Located in Glasgow, the university was founded in 1451 and is presently one of seventeen British higher education institutions ranked amongst the top 100 of the world. The University’s teaching quality was assessed in 2009 to be among the top 10 in the United Kingdom, along with its reputation as a “research powerhouse”, whose income from annual research contracts also placing among the top 10 the UK.

Kanwal is enjoying her life in Glasgow, Glasgow offers one thing that every women loves i.e, great shopping malls. In-fact Glasgow should be named as shopping capital øf ÙK. Glasgow considered to offer the best shopping experience in Scotland and second only to London.

The epicentre of Glasgow shopping is the so-called “Golden Z”, made up of the largely pedestrianised thoroughfares of Sauchiehall Street, Buchanan Street and Argyle Street. Virtually all of the big name retailers are represented here, with some of the stores being second only to their London counterparts in terms of size and range. The main shopping centres are Buchanan Galleries and the St. Enoch Centre, claimed to be the largest glass-enclosed structure in Europe, along with the up-market Princes Square Mall and the Italian Centre specialising in designer clothing, jewellery and audio equipment.

Rashi lives with her family in Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen is the largest city and capital of Denmark. Rashi is an expat and think that it was best decision of her parent to settle in Copenhagen. Copenhagen has repeatedly been recognized as one of the cities with the best quality of life and in 2008 it was singled out as the Most Liveable City in the World by international lifestyle magazine Monocle on their Top 25 Most Liveable Cities 2008 list.

Rashi loves Copenhagen for another reason, it is its environment. Copenhagen is also considered one of the world’s most environmentally friendly cities with the water in the inner harbor being so clean that it can be used for swimming.

Rashi like everyone else go to college at bicycle. 36% of all citizens commuting to work by bicycle, every day bicycling a total of 1.1 million km. Rashi is a student at University of Copenhagen. Founded in 1479, it is the oldest university in Denmark. It is a world-renowned research and teaching institution with campuses around the city and forms part of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU), which is a collaboration between international top universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Yale and Berkeley. The University attracts app. 1500 international and exchange students every year. It is repeatedly ranked as one of the best universities in Europe.

Roma is an artist and a student of fine art degree. Roma has an artistic sense, she was drawing paintings since her childhood. In college her art begin to improve, so decided to study fine art. Fine Arts is defined in the Encarta Dictionary as being, “any art form, for example, painting, sculpture, architecture, drawing, or engraving, that is considered to have purely aesthetic value” (Encarta, 2004). Though this definition is used in relationship with the arts in the regular world, in regards to teaching, fine arts is defined as a subject beneficial, not essential, to the learning process and is often phased out because of lack of time, little learning potential, and no money. Fine arts is simply seen as painting and drawing, not a subject studied by an academic scholar.

This led Roma to get enrolled in an art college. Fine arts expand the boundaries of learning for the students and encourage creative thinking and a deeper understanding of the core subjects.

Painting has remained main interest for Roma. She is studying painting in different mediums. Watercolors, oil painting and she have a special medium clay painting. Roma believes in order to paint well, you need talent, right? Well, talent is certainly not a bad thing, but it won’t make you a master artist. You also need know-how. You need to learn and understand the basics and work your way up. It’s a learning process that takes time and commitment. Remember, no one was ever born with the knowledge how to paint. So you need to acquire knowledge by studying art.

Huma is an engineering student. For her upcoming exams Huma is working real hard to get grades as engineering studies require lot and lots of effort and hard work. Some people flow with the bliss and get things going smoothly with them in the field of engineering education. This set of people only needs to put just a little effort and the result is a brilliant performance in class tests results, quizzes, and examinations. Some other groups have to put in extra effort to achieve similar type of grade. No doubt, intelligence always comes in handy but there are so many A- graders in college today with average intelligence. This brings us to the question, what then is the trick involved?

Aside attending classes and engaging actively in the learning process, brilliant students always do a mental replay of lessons learn within 24 hours before the next day. This helps in consolidating understanding of course materials. Again, it also helps the students plan ahead. The right time to start preparing for an examination is the beginning of the semester.

Formulas are one of the most important tool to do business with during a study session. Formulas are definitions in mathematical expression. It is a good advice to jot down formulas and their parameters on a clean sheet of paper at first reading. Second reading should involve trying to make sense with the expressions by making silly rhythms. For Huma rewriting the formulas on ten different sheets of paper, make them to be perfectly instilled to the memory.

As stated earlier, problems and solutions usually follow certain patterns. A good student always search and take notes of various patterns and try to make sense with them. To build their confidence and problem solving skills before examination or a test, they try to solve up to ten questions for each pattern of problem they can identify. Resolving each question on two different clean sheets of paper ensures good understanding.

Jawaria is an ex pat and studying in a UK college. Shy and sweet Jawaria is a student of economics. Jawaria talks less, she is shy but she is a real hardworking girl. Jawaria concentrate 100% on her education. Jawaria is receiving good grades due to that hard work.

Jawaria says there are reasons why I chose to study Economics when I first entered university. Because I enjoy the topic. That’s an absolute must to study economics. I wouldn’t suggest anyone study economics if they do not enjoy at least some of the topics involved. Like anything in life, you get out of studying economics what you put in.
Economics teaches students how to understand and spot secondary effects and possible unintended consequences. This may seem relatively unimportant, but it’s the most useful thing I’ve received from my economics training. Most economics problems have secondary effects – the deadweight loss from taxation is one such secondary effect. A government creates a tax to pay for some needed social program, but the secondary effect of that tax is that it changes people’s behavior, causing economic growth to slow.

Jawaria tells there are a lot of job opportunities for economics graduates. Because there are many opportunities for economics graduates. You are not guaranteed a good-paying job with an economics degree, but your chances are higher than in other programs. One of my interests as an undergraduate was philosophy, but I decided not to major in that because it seemed that the only possibility after completing my degree was law school – which did not appeal to me. With an economics degree you can work in a variety of different fields from finance and banking, public policy, sales and marketing, civil service (government departments, the Federal Reserve, etc.), insurance and actuarial work, etc. You can also go on to do further studies in economics, political science, business, or a variety of other fields.

Nestled in the North of Italy, near Genoa, the sharp Ligurian coastline rises to hillsides and in the distance, mountains. To the South West, further along the coast, lies Monaco and the French Riviera. The distinction between the two Rivieras is that the Ligurian has not lost its heritage and character. It is less developed, but oozes Italian charisma instead.

The Liguria coastline has been ruled by many cultures through the ages. The significance of Genoa as a trading port is testament to this. In order to develop trade routes Genoa became a busy commercial hub, ruled by the Normans, Romans, Barbarians and more recently Napoleon.

The medieval festival of Torta Dei Fieschi is held annually in Lavagna. Originating from the thirteenth century. It commemorates the wedding between Count Opizza Fieschi and Bianca De Bianchi. In mid August a huge cake is prepared, using traditional pastry. The cake is carried through the ancient streets.

This parade goes back to medieval times. Symbolically reuniting the six neighborhoods of Lavagna. Once the parade finishes, the cake is distributed to the crowds.

Tania has sent this photo from Zurich. Tania is a student of technology degree. Living in outskirts of Zurich, largest city in Switzerland. and the capital of the canton of Zürich. The city is Switzerland’s main commercial and cultural centre and sometimes called the Cultural Capital of Switzerland, the political capital of Switzerland being Berne.

Tania is very happy with quality of life Zurich offers. Zürich can be counted as one of the world’s pre-eminent global cities. According to several surveys from 2006 to 2008, Zürich was named the city with the best quality of life in the world as well as the wealthiest city in Europe.

Tania takes tram everyday to her university and it takes about 20 minutes to get the university. Within Zürich and throughout the canton of Zürich, the ZVV network of public transport has traffic density ratings among the highest worldwide. If you add frequency, which in Zürich can be as often as 7 minutes, it does become the densest across all dimensions. Three means of mass-transit exist: the S-Bahn (local trains), trams, and buses (both diesel and electric, also called trolley buses).

Tania is studying in The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zürich. Zürich is home to two universities and many colleges (called gymnasiums). Two of Switzerland’s most distinguished universities are located in the city. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zürich which is controlled by the (federal) state and the University of Zürich that is under direction of the canton of Zürich. Both universities are well-known and have an international reputation. They were listed in the top 50 world universities rated in 2007.
