I have created 2 leagues, same as before, for both 'Classic' and 'Head 2 Head' mode.

Conga clear out

Will be doing a conga clear out either later today or sometime in the week, it will apply to people that haven't been active for 4 weeks (same as last time, you know the rules!) and by active i don't mean log in, post one thing and then not be seen again.

Being active means contributing, if i feel you haven't been then you will be removed.

There has recently been confusion regarding what types of links we can and can't post.

When can I post a link to my own website?

- You're allowed a link back to your website in your signature, but your site must contain a link back to eXceem.

- You are allowed a maximum of 5 link backs in your signature, one link back per domain (must be a freebie related domain unless previously discussed with a mod).

- You can post a link to your site when requesting technical help, a mini review or a full review (eXtra only).

- You can post a link to your site if needed when requesting graphics for it.

When can I post a link to my blog?

- If the article you linked to is of genuine interest to the forum.
--- SEO advice is good
--- A list of funny pictures is bad

- If the article is unique.
--- If the information has been created by you for the benefit of the forum then it is good
--- If the information has simply been reblogged from the BBC or elsewhere then it is bad

My article has skimlinks or another affiliate link in it.

- This article is not allowed to be posted on eXceem.

I found/made an image that I've uploaded to my site.

iOS 5 - The Handy Tips Thread

Thought I'd start this thread where everyone can post, or find out about, the handy tips they've discovered with the iOS 5.

I want to keep this thread on topic and therefore tangents will be removed. Useful comments will be added to this post.

Here is a list of useful things I have found so far!

Remove keyboard from Messages
When the keyboard is visable making it hard to see the whole text message simply swipe the message down and the keyboard is hidden. And swipe up to reveal!
Notifications
Swipe down from the top to view notifications. See emails, Facebook messages, Texts... anything that notifies you!
Reminders
A great addition to the iPhone. Set it to remind you at a certain time OR at a certain location! So if you need to do something at work just set the location and it will remind you when you get there.
Keyboard shortcuts
Found in Settings>General>Keyboard - Add a text shortcut. For example I have set up "@@" to fill out my full email address.
Remove notification widgets
Who really wants to see the latest Stocks? Turn them off at Settings>Notifcations - Add apps/widgets or remove them.
Customise "Vibrations"
Choose from 5 different vibration rhythms or customise one. Found at Settings>Sounds>Vibration - you'll need to turn on custom vibrations first at Settings>General>Accessibility
Customise Touch Controls
Edit the touch controls at Settings>General>Accessibility to whatever you want them to be.
LED flash for Alerts
Again at Settings>General>Accessibility you can turn on the LED flash for Alerts.
iTunes Wi-Fi Sync
Wirelessly sync you iPhone with iTunes at Settings>General>iTunes Wi-Fi Sync
"Tones"
Finally you can edit tones! There's even a "Tone Store" via the iTunes Music app. Edit the tones at Settings>Sounds
Microsoft Exchange email
Add your outlook exchange account via the Mail option in Settings
iCloud
Configure the iCloud, what you can access or sync and what you can't at Settings>iCloud - You can even set up an @me email address (bare in mind once it's set you can't change it. I made that mistake!)
Twitter
Add 1 or more Twitter accounts enabling you to tweet anything from your phone. Sign in via Settings>Twitter then give it try! I tweeted a picture by just going to the photo, clicking the arrow and choose "tweet".
Camera from Lock Screen
When in the lock screen double tap the home button (as you would to play music) and click the photo icon. It even seems to load faster!
Quick Camera Click
Instead of trying to hold your phone steady while you tap the photo icon to take a photo, you can simply click the + volume button to take the photo.
Quick Camera Click 2
Instead of trying to hold your phone steady while you tap the photo icon to take a photo, you can simply click the + volume button on your iPhone headphones to take the photo!
Keyboard split (iPad ONLY)
When typing a message on an iPad, put two thumbs on the keyboard and pull apart. The keyboard will split making it slightly easier to hold the device and type with the thumbs.
Emoji Keyboard
You can now use emoticons without installing a 3rd party app.
Calendar Week View
By rotating your device onto its side you can view the calendars week view, then tip it upright to return to your normal view.
iPad Gestures
Because the iPad has a much larger screen, Apple has included more gesture options for it. Apple added a few moves and shortcuts: using four or five fingers, swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar, pinch to return to the Home screen and swipe left or right to switch between apps.
Alternate Map Routes
After entering direction, the app displays alternate routes. Pick one by tapping on the route name and tap the Start button to go.
Built in Dictionary
Apple added a built-in dictionary to iOS 5. To use it, tap and hold to select a word (anywhere this is possible) and tap ‘Define’ and the dictionary slides up. It looks great and works wonderfully. It’s smart too, it will only show ‘Define’ when a word that can be defined is selected, so proper names and unrecognized words do not apply.
Speak your text
If you double tap a message and then click on "speak" the iphone will speak out your message for you.
Hide NewsStand in a folder!
For those that like and use the NewStand, ignore this! For those that want it out of the way, follow this little trick (speed is of the essence): line up 2 apps next to the NewStand. Drag one app onto the other as you would when creating a folder. Then as the folder-creating-animation happens QUICKLY drag the NewStand into the folder. See the spoiler for proof!

My name is Ross and I'm the new guy at Xpango!

I'm 28 with a background of the industry but believe you can never know everything out there!

As promised; Xpango have hired new staff so I'll be offering support from Xpango and through Exceem for members of the forum.

Exceem Fantasy League - UPDATE

Many of you are part of the Premiership Fantasy League and are part of the eXceem Classic and Head2Head leagues. We need a confirmation of teams names to match with people on here.

As some of you may be aware, there are prizes being offered by the freebie networks and hence the need for changes.

What you need to do is to post a reply on here with your team name so we are able to identify and contact you if you are lucky enough to be a winner ;)

You will have up to 2 weeks to reply (i feel this is more than enough!) to reply, this way we can determine who are active on eXceem and who are lurkers; as that will defeat the objective of it being a eXceem only league! :p

Ndev2k will be clearing some teams at a later date, we will be fair and make a attempt to contact those of you who we have not heard from.

I will update this post with who are linked with which team.

As you may well be aware, last week I started back up the eXceem "Pub" Quiz as a way to bring the community together again.

The first round saw 10 entries, with xploit winning with a total of 77 points.

The second round (at time of writing), has just finished, and so far I have had 7 entries, with andypandy taking the win with 53 points.

As you can probably guess, it takes quite a bit of time to put these quizzes together. You have to think outside the box, as this isn't a standard quiz where you sit in a pub, this is an internet quiz, and we all know what a powerful tool the internet is!

So as a 'thank you' to all those people who take an hour out of their night to take part in my quizzes, I have decided that I will things even more exciting...and introduce a prize!

The prize will be an Apple iPod Shuffle 2GB 4th Generation, in a colour of your choice (providing I can get that colour!)

There will be a further 6 rounds to the eXceem "Pub" Quiz, so there is still plenty of time to get in it to win it!

eXceem Improvement Suggestions

Hi all,

I am opening this up to the community after being asked myself what improvements, changes and additions I would make to the forum.

Please post below if you have any sensible suggestions that could help improve the forum. We will consider all suggestions mentioned but we may not implement all of them.

Please post in the following format:

Suggestion: SEO section in eXtra
Reason: Most members of eXceem own websites and have places they go for SEO. I think it would be a valuable addition to include an area we can share tips, tricks and links (non affiliate) between everyone.

Please keep this thread on topic, I will remove irrelevant posts.

eXceem "Pub" Quiz TONIGHT @ 9.30pm

It has been too long since the last eXceem "Pub" Quiz. 23rd December in fact!

So let's start a new 2011 "Pub Quiz".

Round One of the eXceem "Pub" Quiz 2011 is here :D OPEN TO ALL no matter how many questions you answer!

The way it works is simple.

- There will be 20 questions (unless I throw a few more in)
- I will create a separate thread along the lines of "eXceem Pub Quiz (No Discussion)" which will be used to post the questions in one at a time.
- To answer the question, send me a PM with Question Number as Subject title "1", "2", "3" etc.
- The first person to answer correctly gets 5 points, second will get 3 points, and the rest will get 2 point.
- In order for everybody to take part in this, the quiz questions will be left until the following evening to give everyone a shot at answering.

Tonight is a "General Knowledge" quiz as I have left it late for questions haha!

So, who is up for tonight's quiz?

As you may have noticed, there are a couple of new mods in town!!

Please bear with us as we get to grips with the backoffice side of things, when you report a post please post underneath it to say that it has been reported, this will prevent multiple reports - and we are also getting to grips with the trade access requests.

We still have Jon and Emmas help behind the scenes for a little while, but after that we will be on our own....

Hi everyone, I know I have not had the best of starts, but I have been working with Jon to get a better understanding of the inner workings of eXceem. As Jon has said he has helped me to pick some new forum moderators, and it gives me pleasure in welcoming the_icks, MJ10, ryan1087 and rider900 to the moderating team at eXceem.

I have asked some other people as well, though they have yet to get back to me and Jon, so we will hopefully be adding some more tomorrow as well.

Xpango is now a eXceem supported network, I had been wanting to do this for a while, but due to a few other commitments I have not really spent the time on eXceem that I should have been, hence the delay in doing this.

Apologies to Sam and the team for taking so long.

A new conga will be created sometime today, and announced in the eXceem eXtra forum as per normal for top spot.

Sony Playstation Network issues

As a eXceem member pointed out, Sony have posted a update on their blog about the issues surrounding the downtime of the Sony Playstation Network

According to their statement, they have taken down the network, after discovering that it has been hacked into, and personal information including user passwords & security questions & answers have been accessed. I am a bit lost for words how this could happen, and I would have thought Sony would be more than capable of ensuring this data is encrypted.
