3. How have you experienced the connection between good work and human dignity?

What are 2 or 3 of your favorite stories (from your life, from human history, from books, from movies, from the Bible, etc.)?

When was a time you actually felt mesmerized by the story of Jesus of Nazareth – namely His fulfillment of THE WORK (see John 6:29), and His insistence on having an eternal relationship with you (see John 14:2-3)?

What is your favorite disruptive and/or controversial thing Jesus says in the Bible?

When have you engaged Jesus in a specific follow-up conversation about a point of emphasis where you felt He was being a bit too extreme?

What are 2 primary and personal implications ofActs 17:2-3 (“Paul reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to SUFFER and to rise from the DEAD)? …see also John 3:14, 5:39; and Luke 24:27, 44.

How do you currently participate in the market for respectability, validation, and achieving control through fear? …Deep dive? Dabble? Disrupt?

What if just one of the unflattering stories about David was true of you, and what if God published that story? Would you rage against God for shaming and dishonoring you? OR would you invite everyone to joyfully come and meet a God who exposes everything you’ve ever done?

When was a time you experienced the real consequences of believing in Jesus of Nazareth (it wasn’t mere philosophy, or theological knowledge, or abstract theories)?

Reflection Questions:

What kinds of punishing situations have you experienced? For example, being followed around by someone with a spirit of divination – repeating one sentence of accurate information about you for days many days? Or being seized and dragged and falsely accused by people who are upset with you because you threatened their wealth?

When was a time you chose to be patient and endure hardship because it was a way to experience fellowship with Jesus (Philippians 3:10), and fill up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions (Colossians 1:24), and partner with the body of Jesus in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus (Revelation 1:9)?

When was a time that you chose to be patient and endure evil in order to give stubborn people time to repent (2 Timothy 2)?

When was a time you sang Psalm 2 in the face of injustice?

When was a time you chose to be “absurdly” confident in God, while being in an explicit position of weakness?
