Former WBA super middleweight champion Brian Magee is picking the current WBA 168 lb. champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) to beat IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) this Saturday night in their pay per view fight at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Magee has fought both guys in the past, and he feels that Kessler is the far better fighter of the two. Magee said to Sky Sports News “I think Kessler’s going to outbox him…he knows how to beat him, he has beaten him before and this time he is going to beat him better.” Kessler beat Froch by a close 12 round unanimous decision three years ago in the Super Six tournament. Magee saw that fight recently and he disagreed with the scoring, as he felt that the scores should have been more in Kessler’s favor than they were. Magee described Froch’s fighting style as such in that fight: “Froch was just like a mad dog in a frenzy, throwing wild punches.” Magee’s description of Kessler’s style was: “Kessler was cool and smart.” I kind of agree with what Magee says here. I thought at the time Froch was fighting like a wild [...]<div class="feedflare">

After careful thought and consideration with my family and team, I have decided to relinquish my WBC Super Middleweight World Champion Emeritus Title. As has been recently reported, the WBC elected to strip me of my world title belt, making the upcoming bout between Sakio Bika and Marco Antonio Periban for the vacant Super Middleweight Title. After consultation with my manager James Prince and attorney Josh Dubin, it is my belief that the WBC did not have the right to strip me of my World Title and name me Champion Emeritus. We voiced our position to the WBC, and after several discussions, have agreed to disagree with their interpretation of the facts and rules. In our opinion, we feel strongly that I did not violate the rules in any manner whatsoever. When I fought Chad Dawson, there was no mandatory contender. Subsequent to my victory, I injured my shoulder but have remained ready, willing and able todefend my title within the period specified by the WBC&#8217;s rules. Nonetheless, without what we feel was appropriate due process, the WBC elected to strip me of my World Title. I think my track record in fighting the best opponents available speaks for itself.
(Bolton, May 20) &#8211; Haroon Khan (2-0, 1 KO) can’t wait for his next challenge after producing an emphatic performance in his US debut as he spectacularly blitzed his way past Vicente Medellin (0-6) in just 57 seconds. The 2010 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist showed off his impressive skill set as he overwhelmed his American opponent from the outset at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. An initial left-right combination had Medellin staggered and backpedaling before a right cross put him down. Medellin quickly jumped back up following the knockdown but was still noticeably hurt before Khan finished him off with a crushing left hook to the body. The Bolton ace was coming off a win from his professional debut only last month against Brett Fidoe in Sheffield where he won a unanimous points decision over four rounds. The 22-year-old bantamweight, and brother of former unified world champion, Amir, is now looking ahead and can’t wait to get back in the ring soon. “I’m raring to go again after that win,” said Khan. “I followed the instructions from my team to get on him and start quick and it worked perfectly. The fact I only fought three weeks before this [...]<div class="feedflare">

Lucas Martin Mattysse was matched against Lamont &#8220;Havoc&#8221; Peterson Saturday night at the Broadwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Business Journal explains to its white collared readers, it&#8217;s necessary to find answers to 12 elaborate questions in order to successfully deal with &#8220;havoc&#8221; The dictionary tells us havoc is a &#8220;&#8230;.. wide and general destructive&#8221; force. But, Lucas Martin Mattysse an easier remedy. He chose to create synonyms like confusion, &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;. disarrangement, disarray,&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.. disshevelment, &#8230;..and disorder &#8230;..&#8221; all of which were dealt out with his left and right punches. Kayo artists like Mattysse are really fun to watch. The fantastical results that occur when their gloves make contact is incredible. Heavy handed is often used to describe the kind of unimaginable real havoc they can wreak. Because of that Poor Lamont never had a chance to gather any kind of storm clouds of his own. Already in the second round at the Broadwalk Hall, Lucas had the preventative ingredient measured out to answer to any silly white collar type business questions.. Lucas&#8217; answers were to use explosives, bombs delivered by rights and lefts. They truly carried the solutions to the any problem he faced at Saturday night.
NEW YORK, NY (May 20, 2013) &#8211; Ring 8 will pay tribute to the late, great matchmaker Johnny Bos tomorrow night (Tuesday, May 21 starting at 7:00 p.m. ET) at historic Waterfront Crabhouse, in Long Island City, New York. Many of Bos&#8217; friends, family and associates have been invited to attend tomorrow;s Ring 8 monthly meeting in an effort to raise funds to help defray the costs of Bos&#8217; funeral. One-hundred percent of all proceeds raised tomorrow from new Ring 8 membership fees ($30.00 per year entitles each member to a buffet dinner at Ring 8 monthly meetings), as well as any group or individual donations, will go directly towards Bos&#8217; funeral expenses. The eccentric Bos &#8211; known as &#8220;The Wizard of Bos&#8221; &#8211; helped develop the careers of countless boxers over the years, particularly in New York, as a matchmaker and advisor. Some of &#8220;Bos&#8217; boxers&#8221; include Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield. Pernell Whitaker, Gerry Cooney, Paulie Malignaggi, Joey Gamache, Yuri Foreman, Jameel McCline and Tracy Harris Patterson. &#8220;We just became aware of this situation (funeral expense needs) over the weekend and Ring 8 wanted to help,&#8221; Ring 8 president Bob Duffy said. &#8220;All monies raised will go directly to [...]<div class="feedflare">

Heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) has ignored American heavyweight contender Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder’s attempts to get him in the ring despite it being a fight that would help Fury in a huge way if he won. However, Fury now is saying that he’ll agree to fight Deontay if he beats Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson (29-3-1, 15 KO’s), a guy that Fury easily beat by a 12 round unanimous decision last December. Fury said on his social media site: “At Bronzebomber [Deontay Wilder], if you can beat Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson, I’ll definitely give you your fight with me!!!! What do you say? I know Kevin will fight.” I don’t think for a second that Fury, #5 WBO, #6 WBC, #8 IBF, would hold up his end of the bargain if Deontay did take the fight with Johnson and knock him out. Without it being written in a contract, Fury could then just ignore Wilder like before and continue to fight other guys. Fury looked awful in his last fight against Steve Cunningham in getting dropped in the 2nd round. Fury did win the fight by a 7th round TKO, but he was hurt by Cunningham at twice in the [...]<div class="feedflare">

I’m sure that anyone that watched Prizefighter – International Heavyweights &#8211; back in June 2012, will remember 25 year old Tom Little from Hatfield, Hertfordshire, not because he won or anything like that, but for the surprising way he exited the competition in the quarter-final against Tom Dallas. I say surprising as Tom seemed to be cruising to victory, but after two sensation rounds dominated by the Hatfield man he ran out of steam mid-third round. Doghouse Boxing’s Iain Dolan, who was ringside on the night, wrote in his report: “Fight of the night was the 4th quarter final between Hatfield’s Tom Little (18st 3lbs) and Tom Dallas. The flabby Little, in only his 4th paid bout showed surprising hand speed and a big heart as he threw the kitchen sink at Dallas from the off. Finding success with jabs and hooks both upstairs and down, Little looked to be on course for an unlikely victory as Dallas neglected defense in order to meet fire with fire. Little started the 2nd round with similar ambition but, from quite early on, was looking up at the big screen to see how long was left in the round. Little continued to throw [...]<div class="feedflare">
