First page on Google…is it really achievable? Everyone knows how hard it is to get your website page or blog post on the first page on Google. With online video marketing, getting on page one of Google becomes more achievable since Google is now serving videos in their standard Google search results. But the video alone won’t get you there (at least not that quickly)…there is a bit more to it. I recently watched a free webinar by a guy named Burt Richard. He showed exactly how he creates a quick video (using tools like PowerPoint) and gets them ranked on page one on Google FAST. He actually managed to get on page 3 of Google within minutes on the live webinar, and a day later it was on page one of Google. Now that’s pretty impressive! So what’s the “trick” you ask? Well, the good news is that anyone can do this without using any black magic or non-Google friendly hacks. Let’s see what Burt has to say in this video interview below:

• Be consistent and upload a video once a week (minimum)
• Research your keywords (what people are searching for). You can use the free Google Keyword Tool.
• Each keyword becomes a video.  Make sure you include the keywords in the Title, Description, Tags, and in the actual video (you actually say your keywords throughout your video.
• Upload a transcript (which also contains your keywords).

Create a video for free? Is this guy nuts? Well…sometimes I am (behind my shy complexion), but today I’m 100% serious. When it comes to online video marketing, especially when it comes time to create videos, most people are afraid to invest their time and money and don’t really know how to get started. Well, you’re in luck today. I’ve done some research and created a 5 min video showing you how to create an engaging video without spending a single dime. In this video, I talk about 3 components that every video should have, 3 simple video styles you can choose from (and the free tools to create them), and 3 editing tips to make your videos more engaging (and the free video editing tool you can use to add more effectiveness to any video on any computer…Mac or PC).

Below is a summary of the techniques, tools (free), and techniques described in the video:

Tools Required:

The following ingredients are needed in order to create a video online:

• Computer (Mac or PC)
• Internet Connection
• You

Components To Every Online Video

• Intro: Say what are you are going to deliver in your video in one or two lines. Don’t waste the viewer’s time by talking about yourself.
• Content: Deliver EXACTLY what you promised in the title on your video. Get straight to the point.
• Call To Action: Tell them exactly what to do after they have finished watching your video and why. Be as specific as you can. In all my videos, I typically ask you guys to visit your website at www.mywebsite.com to get more free online video markering tips.

Content Styles

• Presentation Style: Both PowerPoint 2010 (or later) on PC and Apple Keynote on Mac let you record your presentation with a voice narration and export the result into movie file compatible with YouTube. Sweet!
  PC Users: PowerPoint 2010
  Mac Users: Apple Keynote
• Screencasts: Recordings of your screen showing your viewers how to solve a certain problem. These types of videos are excellent for “how-to” videos. There is a free online service called Screencast-o-matic.com that allows you to record your computer screen and save the result to your computer without installing any software.
  PC Users: Screencast-o-matic.com
  Mac Users: QuickTime X
• Talking Head Videos: This is the easiest to way to create an online videos for free. Simply use your existing webcam, along with a software that can record your webcam, and start talking. Try to make your video interesting by adding whiteboards, props, etc where you can. Most importantly, don’t forget to smile and be passionate on camera.
  PC Users: Windows Live Movie Maker (might require you to down the Windows Live Essentials first before you see the record webcam option.
  Mac Users: QuickTime X

Editing Tips To Make Your Videos More Effective

• Lower Thirds: – Add lower thirds (text below your face that typically shows your name, company name, or website) so people are reminded who you are and where you are from. Keep it subtle and don’t leave it on throughout the entire video (just a few seconds or so)
• Add Music : Music gets people’s attention. Make sure the music is turned to a low volume while you are speaking so people can still hear you speak.
• Call to Action Text: It is important to re-emphasize your Call to Action in the form of text (along with your voice). This makes the delivery of your Call to Action more powerful.

You can add all of these techniques using YouTube’s (along with WeVideo) latest online video editor. This entire video was edited using the YouTube/WeVideo online video editor and I absolutely LOVE it.

As part of their Video Traffic Academy product launch, James Wedmore and Lewis Howes put on an incredible webinar on the the 7 Secrets to Massive Traffic with YouTube.  The webinar lasted just over an hour and was full of awesome and actionable content.  I was taking TONS of notes for the entire hour…my fingers couldn’t keep up!

For those with busy schedules, keep reading.  I’ve decided to clean up my notes from a post them below.  Take action and apply the tips James provides below.

3 Step Process to Boosting Your Traffic With Online Video Marketing

I’m not going to spend any time convincing you that online video is the ultimate marketing tool for any business (I think I do enough of that on my other blog posts)

I’m going to jump right into the 3 step process to boosting your traffic with online video marketing using YouTube.

Step 1: Video Optimization

This first step to your online video marketing campaign.  It involved finding out exactly what people are searching for so you can focus on creating videos to solve theses problems.

• Use the free Google Keyword tool to find out exactly what keyword or keyword phrases people are searching for in your niche.  This tool will also suggest variations of those keywords which is pretty cool
• Find the keyword phrases that have anywhere between 2000 to 100,000 Global monthly searches.  On a piece of paper, write the top 20 that fit you niche best.
• Create a video for each of the keyword phrases you wrote down in the previous step and upload them to YouTube.  Make sure the title of video contains the exact keyword phrase. (one for each keyword phrase.  Of course this won’t happen overnight.  Plan to create a video about once a week.  Later on James gives you some ideas on how to create these videos quickly.

Step 2: Video Value

This step is all about delivering AWESOME value in your videos.  Don’t worry about how your hair looks, if the lighting is terrible, if your video doesn’t look professionally edited…focus on the message you are delivering.  Make sure you over deliver on value.  This will keep your viewers engaged.

Tips for Creating Your Videos

• Keep them short - Keep your videos between 1 and 3 minutes short.
• Keep their attention – Keep changing the scene every 30 seconds or so.  You don’t want viewers to tune out.
• Add Music – People love music!  It helps catch the viewer’s attention.
• Video is Visual - Give your viewers something to look at.  This can be things like graphics, pictures, whiteboards, screen captures, etc.  Avoid the “talking head” videos as much as possible.
• Be Engaging – Make your videos a two way communication portal.  Ask your viewers for feedback,  what video they would like to see next.  You can even ask them what’s their biggest questions that they would like answered today.  This will give you ideas for future videos.

What Every Video Needs

• Introduction
• What this video is about?
• Why are are paying attention to you?
• Delivering the content
• Deliver EXACTLY what you promised in the title and intro of your video
• Get right to the point and give the content away…right away
• Your Call to Action
• Tell them exactly what you would like them to do right after watching your video (be VERY specific)
• Give them incentive to take action (free report, free video, more tips, etc)
• Make sure you send them to your Website
• Ask them to Subscribe or Like Your  YouTube Video

Online Video Marketing Tools For The Camera Shy

• PowerPoint (PC) or Keynote (Mac)
• Screen capture how-to tutorials
• YouTube Create 
• Transform audios/podcasts into videos
• Skype video interviews
• Public domain content
• Animoto

Step 3: Video Aftermath:

This step covers what you need to do to get your video ranked higher in the search engines.  The important take-away from this step is that YouTube will rank your video higher if there is a lot of interaction on it.  This can be people commenting, rating, or leaving video responses.  If there is activity around your video, then it must be good…that’s why it’s important.  As part of the Video Traffic Academy course, you’ll get a one page flow chart that details the 13 step process to get all the attention and interaction that your video needs to rank higher in the search engines.  The best part is that you can give this flow chart to your virtual assistant and he or she can do all the work for you.

3 Most Powerful Strategies That You Can Apply Today

• Add a Call-To-Action Overlay on your videos to send your viewers to your website.   You can use YouTube annotations or the YouTube Call-To-Action Overlay feature.
• Create lots of  back links to video AND CHANNEL.  You can outsource this step for $5 using a site called fiverr.com.
• Get Video responses on YOUR videos (YouTube likes that).  You can ask customers and subscribers to do this for you.  You can also do this yourself by creating another YouTube channel, uploading short videos (animo to is great for this), and posting them as video responses to the video you are trying to promote.
