Rebel FM Episode 53 Pre-show Topic: Must-play Games This Gen

This topic actually comes from a listener named Seth M. Seth pinged us awhile back with an “unsolicited” topic regarding games we felt people just had to play from this generation. Here’s an excerpt from his original email:

“I wanted to write you and your fellow podcasters a letter with a topic idea. The topic is this: which games this generation do you consider “must plays” and why? I have been scouring GameStop for games I missed out on the first time around, like Dead Space and Bioshock, because I feel like if I don’t play them, I’ll regret it come next console cycle. Same with the Orange Box. I had to beat those games to call myself a true gamer. I feel like beating them within the generation is important because it’s difficult to go back a generation and play. I had this experience with Psychonauts. I really wanted to play it when it came out but I didn’t. Instead I bought it on XBL as an Xbox Original and I can’t get past the ugly, ugly graphics to enjoy what everyone tells me I should really be enjoying.”

Sorry about the lack of a Game Club this week, scheduling problems as well as sickness has put us down for the count — and we’ve already used all our Heroic Revivals! We will, however, be back next week and ready to discuss the assigned section.

For this week’s RFM, we’d like to know about how you feel about sequels. These days sequels feel more like what we would have called expansions back a few generations ago, with more and more franchises pumping out the next part of a franchise within 18 months of the prior’s release. Do you agree? Disagree? What do you miss about old sequels, or, rather, what do you think the word sequel even means? Discuss everything here!

Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich Game Club Update!
