			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Being a protein metabolic type I am not allowed to eat carbs on their own &#8211; my weight loss breakfast always needed to be something that contained plenty of protein, which was a little difficult when I had porridge for breakfast and I LOVE me some porridge!</p>
<p>Well recently I walked into a health food shop and found a packet that contains flaxseed, walnuts, almonds and brazil nuts all milled together that I spread on my porridge to give me some form of protein. I have been using a tiny bit of honey too but recently I don&#8217;t have to add that sweetness of honey anymore &#8211; I love porridge with out it.</p>
<p>So this is <a href="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/weekly-weight-loss/my-3-biggest-hurdles-to-weight-loss/">my weight loss breakfast</a> that I love and eat most mornings, I am trying to vary it though and get more protein going but some days I just need that porridge loveliness. Usually I eat Tesco Finest Porridge (love it!) but I had run out and went to a local shop to get some run of the mill Quaker Oats <img src='http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I am only supposed to have 30g of porridge and I always tend to eat far too much food than I am meant to and portion control was always one of my stumbling blocks to weight loss. I guess I just exposed the guilty truth in this photo. I have no idea if that is 30g or not &#8211; what I do know is in the past the whole plate would have been covered with it!</p>

<p>I could simply eat less porridge and then follow it up with sardines and spinach to get the protein but I am too lazy to cook twice and just want to get on with eating and life!</p>

<p>At one point I was using slimming tea but didn&#8217;t really like the effect on my body or the very short term weight loss results it provided so stopped. Every time I tried a body cleanse detox using tablets my ability to lose weight would grind to a quick stop so I decided I will have to stick to good old fashioned eating well and exercise!</p>
<p>Slowly and surely with your weight loss will definitely win the day &#8211; and it will save you having to read scary stuff about something you may have taken to help you lose weight.</p>

<p><strong>Portion control. </strong>I always struggle with the amount a person has to eat to lose weight. Its just so small on the plate and I feel hungry before I even start eating.  It was really difficult to feel satisfied at any time before really focusing on the metabolic typing eating plan that I learnt about through <strong><a href="http://www.onlydietsolution.com">The Diet Solution</a></strong>.</p>
<p>The other problem was it looked so small and my brain would tell me <em><strong>&#8220;NO! NOT ENOUGH&#8230; ADD MORE&#8230;!&#8221;</strong></em> which didn&#8217;t help.  It was a habit from years of eating loads and loads in one meal so I didn&#8217;t have to eat again for 5-6 hours. I had to let my brain know that its okay, we won&#8217;t starve and if I need anything to eat in 2-3 hours I can get a snack.</p>
<p><strong>My carb addiction</strong> was a big weight loss hurdle for me and made it difficult to stop eating stuff that wasn&#8217;t good for me like biscuits and bread. The evenings were the worst. I&#8217;d get a carb attack, especially if I had a great day of eating well, by about 9pm when hungry set in I would crave bread or biscuits. Now it no longer happens. It took about 7 or 8 months to disappear completely and if I do fancy carbs I eat almond nuts instead.</p>
<p>My final weight loss hurdle was <strong>not drinking enough water</strong>. I can&#8217;t tell you how vital this is to weight loss. Most experts say 8 glasses a day but the amount of water you drink should in fact be in relation to how much you weigh &#8211; however even if you do stick to 8 glasses its probably going to be so much more than you drink now and better than nothing!</p>
<p>So those are my <a href="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/weekly-weight-loss/my-biggest-motivation-to-help-with-weight-loss/">3 biggest hurdles to weight loss</a> and if I was doing it all again I would find out about carb addiction (yes it is an actual addiction &#8211; look it up in the search engines) and help myself off them quicker.</p>
<p>I would definitely reprogram my mind sooner to accept smaller meals on a regular basis and of course I would drink more every day.</p>
<p>My other major weight loss hurdle was exercise and starting a regular exercise program but I will talk about that another day</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the things I use to help me with weight loss motivation and to keep me on track &#8211; especially when I want to eat something naughty  &#8211; is <a href="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/weekly-weight-loss/my-biggest-motivation-to-help-with-weight-loss/">weight loss before and after</a> videos on YouTube. There are some really great ones that I thought I would share.</p>
<p>I love this first video because it is similar to my own story &#8211; men loved my &#8220;thickness&#8221; and it wasn&#8217;t a problem but I didn&#8217;t like me or my health and I wanted to enjoy middle age and all that it had to offer.</p>
<p>I will be happy when I can make my own before and after weight loss video by the end of 2010 but in the meantime here&#8217;s a great one for you</p>

<p><a href="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/weight-loss-facebook.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-774" title="weight-loss-facebook" src="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/weight-loss-facebook.jpg" alt="weight loss status facebook" width="552" height="719" /></a> And that reminded me that in fact writing on this blog and sharing my updates on my Facebook page were BIG in fact HUGE motivators to help me lose weight and keep me going because it is so very public.</p>
<p>I have started on <a href="http://www.onlydietsolution.com" target="_blank">weight loss programs </a>before and given up but this time knowing I had shared the fact that I was going to lose weight at an event I ran last October (and people I know attended that event so are keeping an eye on me) and I am writing about it on here while sharing my weight loss updates on Facebook meant I just would not quit.</p>
<p>Sometimes we all need motivation to keep going and writing a blog could be one for you &#8211; its easy to get started over at blogger or wordpress for free and if you can use a video you can start a Youtube channel too. People are really great at providing encouragement and it will help you with the motivation you need at the very beginning when you just start losing weight.</p>

<p>One of the biggest myths out there is the myth that eating healthy costs too much.</p>
<p>Just the opposite&#8230; and I&#8217;ll prove it to you in three ways.</p>
<h2>#1:  Cash</h2>
<p>Here&#8217;s some sample figures courtesy of my friend Scott Tousignant&#8217;s fitness blog&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>2 medium size sweet potatoes $1 or… small fries from a fast food joint</p>
<p>2 red peppers $1 or… a can of pop</p>
<p>Bowl of oatmeal with fruit &#038; protein powder $2 or… large bag of chips</p>
<p>6 Chicken Breasts $10 or… a sub combo from a fast food joint</p>
<p>18 eggs $3.50 or… a burger from a fast food joint</p>
<p>2 salmon fillets $15 or… large pizza</p>
<p>Loaded chicken salad (homemade) $3 or… bag of cookies</p>
<p>Large bag of oatmeal $3.50 or… 4 chocolate bars</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Not much of a comparison, it is?</p>
<p>Yet the foods on the left would feed a family of two or more for 4-7 days&#8230; the foods on the right? 2-3 days if you live through it.</p>
<p>Tips to make the most expensive part of eating healthy &#8212; the cost of quality meats &#8212; go further include&#8230;</p>
<p>1. Use tofu fillers in chicken and beef recipes. Even if you hate tofu, you can barely taste the difference when combined properly.</p>
<p>2. Buy your meats in bulk online. You can find less expensive grass-fed beef and naturally-raised chicken and have it delivered to you if you live near a large city. If not, check the local farmers.</p>
<p>3. Eat meat only 3-4 times per week and use black beans with rice or inexpensive tuna for your other days. I eat tuna cooked in a skillet with lots of veggies and some olive oil almost every night and I LOVE the taste!</p>

<h2>#2:  Your Health</h2>
<p>Do we &#8216;really&#8217; need to talk about buy new (usually larger) clothes every year or two? Or about the health care costs associated with being even 20 pounds over your ideal weight, let alone more? How about the time you miss from work with excessive colds?</p>
<p>Eating healthy and taking care of your body adds years to your life&#8230; and for the record, the years eating poorly takes away from your life, on average, costs each American over 80,000 in medical expenses.</p>
<p>Want to add that to your food budget?</p>
<h2>#3: The Big Picture</h2>
<p>Anyone who has been fit knows the joy it brings&#8230; the freedom you feel from wearing whatever you want&#8230; the productivity you see from increased energy&#8230; the pace at which you move during the day.</p>
<p>Not only are these gifts priceless, but they are also massive cash-savers. Your productivity alone can add thousands to your bottom line each year, well off-setting any costs associated with eating quality food.</p>
<h2>The Bottom Line&#8230;</h2>
<p>Like any good accountant would suggest, you need to look at your ROI (return on investment) if nothing else.</p>
<p>What does investing in a better body, greater health, and vibrant energy do for your life? How can that actually translate into more income AND less expense?</p>
<p>You will be surprised.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>My year of weight loss ends in October 2010 and the most frustrating part of this journey has been the way my body just stopped losing weight from February 2010-August 2010 &#8211; but I never gave up.  This post is the first one to contain photos of me and it shows <a href="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/dieting/the-diet-solution/i-am-back-on-the-diet-solution-and-metabolic-typing-for-weight-loss/" target="_self">my weight loss November 2009 to September 2010</a>.  Now I am back on a losing streak and losing weight again I am aiming to lose another two stone by the end of October 2010 which is a healthy 2lbs or 1kg a week.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/31-Oct-2009.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-757" title="Weight loss 7 stone overweight 31 Oct 2009" src="http://www.weightlossfooddiary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/31-Oct-2009-101x300.jpg" alt="Weight loss 7 stone overweight 31 Oct 2009" width="101" height="300" /></a>I was 19 stone 12lbs when I started my weight loss program back in October 2009 and it was this photo that made me realise something had to be done.</p>
<p>Swollen ankles and carrying a huge amount of extra weight I was<strong> 7 stone 6 lbs overweight </strong>(my ideal weight is 12 stone 6lbs) which is a whole other person! My 11 year old son weighs less than that&#8230;.</p>
<p>I am not sure I want to be as thin as 12 stone and will happily settle for wearing a size 14 dress from Next comfortably &#8211; whatever weight that makes me is fine with me!</p>
<p>Its not so much because I can&#8217;t imagine myself being 12 stone because I can. I think it is because I do like to have a little &#8220;extra&#8221; and I love my curves and don&#8217;t want to lose them so will always be a little over my target weight &#8211; but at that time I was just way too much and I was feeling it.</p>

<p><strong>November 2009 To September 2010</strong></p>
<p>By November I had quickly lost a stone and this is me back in November 09 and me now in September 2010. What I notice most is how much my shape has changed thanks to exercise. I have a great shape that will shrink as my weight loss continues and I carry on exercising.</p>

<p>I know the <a href="http://www.barnetpersonaltrainer.co.uk/exercise-classes-north-london/" target="_blank">exercise classes in North London</a> I have been attending and having the services of a personal trainer has really helped. When I am not training with Anne I definitely do not train as hard as I should.</p>
<p>I am going to be taking her 12 week circuit training classes every Wednesday in Mill Hill which will take me up to Christmas and I can see what I look like then. We have 4 weeks left of Flabby to Fit (week 8 comes out soon) and then our time together is done and it will show you the difference you can make to your life in only 12 weeks with regular exercise (at least 3 times a week)</p>

<p>From 19 stone 12 to my current weight of 17 stone 6 means I have lost a total of 2 stone 6 lbs (or 30lbs) and if I aim to be 12 stone 6lbs that means I have 5 stone (or 70lbs) left to lose.  I am aiming for 12 stone 6lbs because it takes me towards where I want to be but I won&#8217;t be broken hearted if I don&#8217;t get to that final weight and if I do I then it will be the thinnest I can ever remember being in my life!</p>
<p><strong>What made a difference?</strong></p>
<p>When I look back over my journal in 2003, 2004 and other years I always spoke about losing weight but it never happened. Even when I gave up my car in 2008 that didn&#8217;t help &#8211; but in 2009 I think determination set it.</p>
<p>My flexibility and stamina had all but gone. I could hardly walk up stairs without losing breath and I just didn&#8217;t like the way I looked anymore. All of that, plus my then upcoming holiday to Dominia in July 2010 gave me an incentive to really start losing weight. Incentives help to keep you motivated &#8211; I definitely recommend having one!</p>
<p>Once I was on a weight loss program I moved around a bit before I found something that works for me and now <a href="http://www.onlydietsolution.com"><strong>eating for my metabolic type</strong></a>, regular exercise and drinking loads of water. These are the three things I will continue to do and I will take another photo before the end of the year to see what I look like then.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>My weight loss has started again and I am back on the <a href="http://www.onlydietsolution.com">Diet Solution for weight loss</a> because it has been the main thing to help me. I think it is because it focuses on you eating for your metabolic type and I have been reading a lot about metabolic typing and how it all works.</p>
<p>I realise now that the headaches I was getting and the dizzy feelings were all because I was detoxing. All these years of a high carb, high sugar diet had taken its toll so when I suddenly stopped eating carbs and sugar and turned to a high protein diet it was a bit too much.</p>
<p>Now I am a lot wiser about what I need to eat so I thought I would take a second look at the Diet Solution and metabolic typing using a book I found on Amazon called <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0767905644?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=inspiration03-21&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1634&amp;creative=6738&amp;creativeASIN=0767905644">The Metabolic Typing Diet</a><img style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=inspiration03-21&amp;l=as2&amp;o=2&amp;a=0767905644" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></p>
<p>It shows you how to customise your diet to achieve your ideal weight and it also helps you to get rid of food cravings (my carb cravings are no longer a problem) and increase your energy.</p>
<p>It was great to finally lose 4lbs in one week and I am now down to 17 stone 7lbs. My aim is to lose 2lbs (1kg) a week which is a safe amount and that will help me lose another 2 stone by the end of October 2010.</p>
<p>Which means by then in total I will have lost 4 stones. Not the 5 stones I was aiming for but still great and it could still happen!</p>

<p><strong>Caution</strong>:</p>
<p>This sounds like a silly question, but it’s really the most important question you can ask:</p>
<p><strong>“What REALLY makes me increase my bodyfat?”</strong></p>
<p>Is it too many calories?  Sure. That’s one part. But I know people who can eat 4-5K calories a day and not add an ounce.</p>
<p>Is it dietary fat? Rarely if ever.</p>
<p>Fat is necessary to melt bodyfat. It is true that fat has more calories per gram than protein or carbs, but let’s look at this logically:</p>
<p>40% protein; 40% carbs; 20% fat = 40% fat; 40% protein; 20% carbs</p>
<p>So… no. Increasing your dietary fat does not mean you’ll get fatter…</p>
<p>UNLESS… ready?</p>
<p><strong> Your insulin levels are too high.</strong></p>
<p>Elevated insulin is not only the prime cause of diabetes and a sign of being hypoglycemic, but it’s also the prime numero uno reason people get fat.</p>
<p>And insulin is stimulated most by too many carbohydrates… even the so-called “healthy carbs!”</p>
<p>HOWEVER… ready again?</p>
<p>You can still eat carbs… you do not need a “low-carb” dietplan every day in order to keep your insulin and bodyfat low.</p>
<p>You just have to know what TIME to eat the carbs.</p>
<p>There’s a time and place for everything and carbs are no exception.</p>
<p>I have a presentation here that tells you more about how important timing is and how you can eat your carbs (even sweets) and shed bodyfat…</p>

<p>That being said:</p>
<p><span id="more-747"></span>If I had to cut one thing out of my diet for 1-4 days it would definitely be carbs.</p>
<p>I need fat… fat helps melt bodyfat… and I have trained my body to use its own fat-stores for fuel.</p>

<p>I DEFINITELY need protein… and so do you.</p>
<p>Protein speeds up thermogenesis, or your body’s own fat-burning heat factory.</p>
<p>Protein also blunts your appetite so you naturally eat less.</p>
<p>Some carbs are healthy… and I do not recommend you cut out low-sugar fruits and green veggies… you need that stuff.</p>
<p>But you don’t need grains, breads, etc.</p>
<p>At least for a few days.</p>
<p>THEN… you need them… but only after you do two things.</p>

<p>P.S.  My favorite “Feed Meal” (that’s what I call meals where I eat a lot of calories and carbs) is this:</p>
<p>Small serving of protein (1/2 my normal      serving size) like chicken, tuna, etc.</p>
<p>Brown rice or baked potato</p>
<p>Slice of pecan pie (or Key Lime pie… yum.)</p>
<p>Then later that day I’ll have a few slices of New York-style pizza.</p>
<p>The next day I’m LEANER. It never fails.</p>
<p>The only time this can fail is if you do not set your body UP to receive these carbs and some junk food.</p>
<p>I call this my “Real World Favorite Foods Dietplan.”  That’s not the name of my System but it could be!  That’s exactly what it is.</p>
