Spring sure is a time for fun festivals and holidays and this May is no exception. Cinco de Mayo, which is Spanish for “Fifth of May” is a day when we celebrate the Mexican victory over the French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is a day for the celebration of traditional Mexican culture and heritage.

Instead of going out for Cinco de Mayo, why not have a small gathering at your Eaton Square at Arlington Ridge apartment? You can take advantage of your attractive upgraded kitchen with brand new maple cabinetry, granite-style counters and black appliances to cook up a fiesta to remember.

For decorating ideas, you can hang strings of margarita lights around your apartment, use a the brim of a sombrero as a tortilla chip bowl, and lay a Mexican Serape on top of you tablecloth as an accent. Spring for Alexandria: Volunteer On May 4th

With April being National Volunteer Month, what better time to start getting involved in the community? There are so many great businesses, events, and organizations in the city of Alexandria, Virginia, so why not take some time give back? Volunteering is a great idea not only because you’re helping out your fellow man by donating your time to worthy causes, but you’re also boosting your self-esteem in the process. It’s a win-win.

Spring for Alexandria 2012 is a city wide Community Service Day event taking place on May 4 that involves hundreds of volunteers formed into teams to help local nonprofit organizations complete projects that they might not have otherwise been able to finish. The volunteers also gather pledges to benefit the Spring for Alexandria organization to keep efforts continuing.
