I posted up a picture of our homemade Easter treats to <a title="Facebook Pic" href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=423802297645539&#38;set=a.263806543645116.87564.252209828138121&#38;type=1&#38;theater" target="_blank">Facebook</a> and the response was <strong>huge!</strong>

The Chocolate Egg Nests were a huge hit with both our family and our <a title="Facebook: Eat. Sleep. Move" href="https://www.facebook.com/Eat.Sleep.Move" target="_blank">Facebook</a> fans.

And let me tell you, not only did they look awesome, they were also <em>super</em> tasty!

But the question on everyones lips (and fingertips) was:

<em>"<strong>What is coconut yoghurt?</strong>...Can I make that?...How do you make it?"</em>

And the answer is yes, you absolutely can make it at home and it is <strong>easy!</strong>

He has put together the 2012 Paleo Community Survey.

The purpose of this survey is to collect information about paleo diet community members, including demographic information, medical conditions, dietary preferences, and physical activity.

The Easy Egg Pancake is both easy and tasty!  
This is my go-to brekkie meal most mornings and is the recipe I shared with Jimmy Moore and Mindy Noxon Iannotti when I was a guest on the <a href="http://www.lowcarbconversations.com/565/40/" target="_blank">Low-Carb Conversations Podcast</a> recently.

If you don't have any mad spatula skills then this one is definitely for you!  
Egg Pancakes and omelettes can be easily mucked up when it comes time to flip them, giving you no option but to turn your nice brekkie into a dodgy looking scramble instead. [frowny face]

With a neat little flippy trick that I picked up from <a href="http://eatsleep.paleo123.hop.clickbank.net" target="_blank">Paleo Cookbooks</a> you can cook up beautiful looking pancakes and omelettes and easily pass yourself off as a Masterchef to any hungry brekkie guests.

Hey guys,

Things have been pretty slow on the blog post front lately...my apologies for that! 

A big thank you to everyone who has 'liked' The Eat. Sleep. Move Facebook page or subscribed to get blog updates by email.  

The blog is continuing to go from strength to strength! 
I have recently been a guest on J<a href="http://www.lowcarbconversations.com/565/40/">immy Moore's Low Carb Conversations Podcast</a> and have helped out with an informal Paleo talk at <a href="http://crossfitzone.com.au/">Crossfit PTZone</a>. 

I am learning a great many things at the moment, on the nutritional front and also on the back end.  
I have all kinds of things in the planning including recipes, youtube videos and an online store.  

So, although I may not be able to put up as many blog posts as I would like to in the next month or two you can rest assured that there are a lot of things going on in the background that I will be able to share with you in time.
 
A lot of my time at the moment is being diverted towards my new project, called the Paleo Link.

The <a href="http://thepaleolink.com/">PaleoLink.com</a> will be an online store for all of the things you might need to support a Paleo or Primal lifestyle.

To apply this principle to weight loss they are forced to make some assumptions.
<h2>Assumption #1</h2>
<em>That the only two variables that impact our body fat stores are the calories we consume and the calories we expend.</em>

<strong>THIS IS WRONG.</strong>

The calories we consume and the calories we expend are <em>not</em> the only determinants of what gets stashed away in our fat stores.  Anyone who ponders this for long enough will realise that they actually knew this all along.

Yes­ter­day, the 27th of Decem­ber, marked the 3rd day of the new moon.
This means it was the first of 11 days of super growth in the gar­den for any­thing above ground.

Some of you may raise your eye­brows — or even roll your eyes at me — but seri­ously, this gar­den­ing with the moons caper seems to work.

I haven’t put it to the test with any ran­domised, con­trolled tri­als or any­thing like that but there is a lot of anec­do­tal evi­dence going back to the ancient Greeks and Romans — when peo­ple were more tuned in to the envi­ron­ment and their sur­vival depended on their abil­ity to grow their own food.
They couldn’t just head down to the super­mar­ket and pick up some veg­gies trucked down from the lush food bowls of Queens­land, if their home gar­dens and crops failed then so did they.
With skills born out of need, they observed that the moon phases affected seed ger­mi­na­tion and the growth and yield of their plants.

I have absolutely no doubt that the best tast­ing, most nutri­tious food is that which you grow your­self, so to make the most of my 11 day leafy crop win­dow, I got down and dirty in the garden.

Christmas is upon us.

It might look slightly different for each of us but one thing is for certain...THERE...WILL...BE...FOOD.

And there will probably be a lot of it.

Roast turkey, ham, new potatoes, roast veggies, prawns, crayfish, oysters, pork, steaks and sausages on the BBQ, salads, yorkshire puddings, panettone, trifle, pavlova, chocolate, christmas pudding, cherries, strawberries, champagne, beer, beer ....and more beer.

It is the one time of the year when people who have been sticking to an eating plan might loosen it up a little and have a treat or two or they might loosen it up completely and totally indulge.

It is also a time when people who think they probably should have been sticking to an eating plan, might pat their tummies as they politely decline treats and drinks that are offered to them.

No-one actu­ally wants to be fat or over­weight, but if it was as sim­ple as just cut­ting out a slice or two of bread each day then obe­sity would cer­tainly not con­tinue to be so wide­spread.

When any gov­ern­ment organ­i­sa­tion, nutri­tion­ist, per­sonal trainer or weight-loss guru use ‘calo­ries in vs calo­ries out’ to advo­cate eat­ing less and exer­cis­ing more to lose weight, they have to make 3 assumptions.

These assump­tions are too sim­plis­tic and short-sighted for prac­ti­cal use. 

They do not take into account any of the other fac­tors involved and they do not address what is bio­log­i­cally dri­ving our overeat­ing behaviour...

Humans have been eat­ing for over 2 mil­lion years, so you would think that we have got the hang of it by now, wouldn’t you?

Evi­dently not.

We no longer have to hunt our food down or go for­ag­ing in the wilder­ness for it.
The hard­est thing we have to do for food now, is to run the gaunt­let of the super­mar­ket aisles, bat­tling it out with the other shop­ping trol­leys in the wild west of Wool­worths.

But, as a race we are fat­ter, slower and more dis­eased than ever.
We are over­weight, snotty, scabby, gouty, crabby, gassy, creaky, over-tired, stressed, demented and dia­betic with hor­mones which are all over the place and arter­ies that are all clogged up with crap.

In our fast paced world of con­ve­nience, mod­ern advances in agri­cul­ture and com­mer­cial food pro­duc­tion have meant that we now have a greater vari­ety of “food” to choose from than ever before.  
Our grandparent’s grand­par­ents would not actu­ally recog­nise many of the food prod­ucts that we con­sume nowadays...
