No longer is poetry my sole project. Nay! I have strayed into the strange land where visuals and comedy meet. A nexus of rich content and richer punnery. Behold the webcomic: What the Hex?! Does my brilliance know no bounds? Sadly it does. Hopefully you, my esteemed reader, will enjoy this modest offering of geometry and wit. Dip your metaphoric toe in the pool of cartoon humor a la me, and see what you think.

In poem news (if there is such a thing), I successfully completed another week. There was no unifying theme of the week, so I feel no shame listing them in a erm… well a list:

A Grimoire of Claustrophobia

Pilgrims, friend, Pilgrims

Soldiering in Solidarity

Dog-Ear this Page

This One Looks Promising

Baskerville 712

Revenge Is Best Served Quickly

For those few souls who remember that this was once a podcast, rest assured that it (meaning podcast) is returning shortly. I am re-working the format, so that it is a reasonable amount of work for one person. Look for updates next week.

Well I’m back and it only took two week to throw together a podcast this time. The good new is that I graduated last Friday, so that means I’ll have plenty more time to dedicate to putting a new episode out each week. I went a little heavy on the instrumental this week, with 5 out of 9 songs being singer-free. But don’t let that fool you. Each song holds its own whiole doing without lyrical input. Here’s the list:

Jack Rose - Kensington Blues - Kensington Blues

Dysrhythmia - Sleep Decayer - Barriers and Passages

Russian Circles - Carpe - Enter

Chromelodeon - Parasprinter - Ninja Gaiden 2 (The Dark Sword of Chaos)

Stemage - Ridley’s Theme - Metroid

Bleeding Kansas - Hanging by a Thread - 1859

Inner Surge - Retribution Song - Signals Screaming

Examination of the… - To Anacreon In Heaven - The Whitest Elephants

Antigama - Izaak - Selfmadegod

I have also finally caught up on new releases, so here’s the notables from the last three weeks:

Dysrhythmia - Barriers and Passages - Relapse Records

Thursday - A City by the Light Divided - Island Records

Lye By Mistake - Arrangements For Fulminating Vective - Lambgoat Records

New Mexican Disaster Squad - Don’t Believe - Jade Tree

Juniper Sky - Don’t Forget - Textbook Music

Russian Circles - Enter - Flameshovel

Some bands got themselves hitched up and here’s the scoop on ‘dem:

Antigama - Relapse Records

Behold…the Arctopus - Black Market Activities

American Heritage - Translation Loss

And that about wraps it up. Thanks again to Inner Surge for your submission, it is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or want to submit your band to the podcast, shoot me an email. Have a great week!

Welcome back one and all! As promised, ESR has returned and I am officially done being an undergraduate. One of these days I’ll probably go for a Masters, but let’s not be hasty. Getting to the music, it’s a pretty varied bag in here. I would like to especially thank The Hussys and The Valor for getting in touch with me, and also Futuro - I have a feeling they were the conduit for these contacts. Here’s the playlist:

Lemon Demon - Word Disassociation - Damn SKippy

Gorguts - Obscura - Obscura

Lye By Mistake - If We Were Intense, this Song Would be a Boyscout - The Fabulous

Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames - Inhuman Rampage

Some Girls - warm milk - Heaven’s Pregnant Teens

The Warriors - Red, Black, and Blue - War Is Hell

The Hussys - Tiger - Tiger EP

The Valor - Find Me Another

Some of these new releases are actually old news, but hey I wrote the podcast script like 3 weeks ago and it was darn good. I couldn’t let it go to waste could I? I’ll do an extensive wrap-up of what I missed next week.

Jesu - Silver

Scissorfight - Jaggernaut

Mono - You are There

Saves the Day - Sound the Alarm

Likewise the recent signings aren’t all that recent, but I will also do a round-up of those next week.

On a Warpath - Hand of Hope Records

Inhale Exhale - Solid State Records

The Taste of Silver - Hold True Recordings

Anchors for Arms - Lobster Records

Dead Weight - Double or Nothing Records

I want to say thanks to everyone for being patient and understanding. A month is a long time to be out of commission and I know that I missed a lot of great stuff in the music world. Sadly, sometimes real life takes a bite out of virtual life, and those things which can be dropped are. Rest assured that I am back in the saddle so to speak, and the podcast should be regular once again. Have an awesome week!

-Ned

This week features some great music from Jonathan Coulton, Glassjaw, and Dillinger Escape Plan as well as tons of new releases and new signings.

Hello all and welcome to the longest podcast yet. Weighing in at 56 minutes, I think I have crossed some kind ethereal line in podcsting. If next week’s show is over an hour, then I need to consider making some changes to the show as well as my hosting package. What do you think? I’d love to hear from everyone if they like the direction the show has gone in, or are they thinking, “For godsakes! Just play some damn music, enough of your talking madness!” Anyhoo, here’s the playlist for this week:

Jonathan Coulton - Skullcrusher Mountain - Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow

Forever I Burn - I’ll Die On My Own - The Tragedy Dialogs

Tetsuo - Cigarette Put Out In Blood - Malmohrahkign

Laguardia - Cuba - Welcome to the Middle

Elbow - Leaders of the Free World - Leaders of the Free World

Red Orchestra Radio - Hypnogogic Hallucination - The Electric Sleep

Glassjaw - Ape Dos Mil - Worship and Tribute

Dillinger Escape Plan - We Are the Storm - Miss Machine

Strapping Young Lad - S.Y.L. - Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing

I also promised the link to Devin Townsend’s (Strapping Young Lad founder) website. There were a bunch of noteworthy new releases and one that should be avoided at all costs. From First to Last is one of the worst bands out there; they embody all that is wrong with the music industry. For the love of all that is metal and good, DO NOT buy this CD. Friends don’t let friends buy From Fist to Ass. That being said, here’s the worthwhile new releases:

Boysetsfire - Misery Index - Equal Vision Records

Lifetime - Somewhere in the Swamps of Jersey - Jade Tree

Yakuza - Samsara - Prosthetic Records

Atreyu - A Death-Grip on Yesterday - Victory Records

Band of Horses - Everything All The Time - Sub Pop

New Amsterdams - Story Like A Scar - Vagrant

MC Lars - The Graduate - Nettwerk

Bunch of suckers signed contracts this week. Here’s the list of lucky ones:

Red Orchestra Radio - Feeling Faint Productions

Arise and Ruin - Stereo Dynamite Records

Sigh - The End Records

Juniper Sky - Textbook Music

Abigail Williams - Candlelight Records

On the Last Day - Victory Records

And that wraps it up for this week. I am trying a new podcasting posting plugin, so hopefully this feed won’t get all garbled. I want to hear from you! So send email… please? Oh and don’t forget the frappr map on the sidebar.

Another great week of tunes with the likes of Sunny Day Real Estate, Muse, This Day Forward, and something brand spankin new from Versus the Mirror. Eternal sweetness could be yours with a simple download!

This week’s podcast is our longest yet, but I’m pretty sure we’re reaching the upper limit on attention span as well as my personal bandwidth. Sadly no bands emailed me last week so I had to put together a playlist all by my lonesome. That said, I think I did a pretty good job. You be the judge:

Versus the Mirror - Birthed by Architecture

From This Day - Running Red - Proverbs of Ashes

This Day Forward - If I Wore a Mask - The Transient Effects of Light on Water

Marigold - Moving In Tangents - Audible to Animals

Chiodos - One Day Women Will All Become Monsters - All’s Well That Ends Well

Grade - A Year in the Past, Forever in the Future - Under the Radar

Hopesfall - Owl - A Types

Muse - Stockholm Syndrome - Absolution

Sunny Day Real Estate - Killed By an Angel - The Rising Tide

The new releases section is a little small this week. However next week looks to be a big one, so keep your pants on:

NOFX - Never Trust a Hippy - Fat Wreck Chords

Utlra Dolphins - Why Are You Laugh - Robotic Empire

Life At These Speeds - S/T - Level Plane Records

Garrison Starr - The Sound of You and Me - Vanguard Records

There were a few noteworthy news items this week so here are the related links:

Email for Set Your Goals whose trailer was stolen. They are hoping to get some donations through Paypal so if you have a few extra buck give them a hand.

Seconds finished tracking their next CD and posted some tracks for all to enjoy.

In the seedy underworld of record label and signings we had a few items:

Plague Bringer - Seventh Rule Recordings

End of a Year - Revelation Records

Since Remembered - Blood & Ink Records

The Line Dance Massacre - Melee Records

And that about wraps it up. Lotsa info this week and a Podcast Pickle bumper! You know you could almost mistake this for a professional production, but let’s not lose our heads now people. Thanks for tuning in! And leave a comment would ya?
