I just got a email from ThatPetPlace.com saying that if this goes threw then all un-native animals to the U.S. can not be breed. Since Betta fish come from Asia we could no longer be able to bread them and have to import bettas from out of the U.S. Not only does it cause the betta un-needed stress but most would die from starvation and/or stress. This is what the email says “What would the world be like without pets? A new bill proposed in the House could make this a reality. All pet owners should be aware of a pending federal government resolution. House Resolution 669 is designed to change the way the government classifies animals available in the pet trade. If passed into law it will severely impact keeping pets in America and could destroy the pet industry as we know it. HR699 would make it illegal to buy, sell and breed animals not native to the United Sates. This includes most species of tropical fish, ferrets, most reptile and amphibian species, corals, and many others. Though That Fish Place/That Pet Place is in favor of an effective invasive species law, we are convinced this is absolutely not the legislation to accomplish that. Please visit our blog to find out more and learn what you can do to help prevent this legislation from being passed.” A video that came with it.

TURNING WHITE: Thank you for all your comments on my lovely little betta turning white. He is still alive, but just a weird color now. I did some research and asking around, and discovered that bettas in the wild are not as pretty as those in captivity that are bred to be b-e-a-utiful! So I think Indy just is losing his color because of his genetics. No infection. No disease. Just genes!

I had never heard this before, and do not know if it is true. But this information comes a previous betta breeder.

Yes, he has a heater. Yes, he gets regular water changes. He is just weirdly colored now, but is still my little baby.

Hope every else is having luck! My four babies are still thriving… with a bit of fin rot. But all is well. They are piggies.

Have a good day.

Well I believe when I GOT the fish they had ick because if I remember correctly one of them where just rubbing his body against the rocks. So I shall never buy from PetCo ever agine.

Hello fellow bloggers,

I have a mystery I need help solving! One of my bettas is turning white. It is slowly spreading from his dorsal fin all around his body. It isn’t a fungus or sickness. Nothing is growing on him. He is active, healthy and eats like a piggy. His tank stays at a reasonable temperature and he gets weekly water changes. Is this from old age? He has been living close to a year.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well it is not much different cleaning your tank then you normally do. Well so I will tell you how to do it.
First you get the fish into another tank (or some where you can keep it for a how ever long it takes for you to clean your tank.) Once that is over empty the tanks water out in a sink (make sure NO rocks fall out if they do put them back in the tank.) Then you get a strainer (or something similar) to dump your rocks in and run HOT water though them (to kill all the bacteria in the rocks) once that is done (NOTE: make sure all the water that is falling out of the holes is CLEAR water not even a tad bit dirty). Now we must was the tank grab a cloth and put HOT water on on the cloth then wash the tank with the cloth. If you use artificial plants just run them under HOT water. If you use real plants put new ones in the tank. Now put your rocks and plants in as you normally would do but fill the tank with your normal water (can be bottled water) in make sure it is purified. Then put your betta in the tank and give him his medication. Hope this helps,
He has just been sitting at the bottom of his tank, kind of sideways, all the time. When I go and tap on his tank he comes up, but other than that he only comes up for air. He isn’t eating either. He has a few, (very few) white spots on his face. I’m not sure if he has Ick or if he is just depressed. Does anyone have any sugestions? I could really, REALLY use some. This is the first time my betta has gotten sick, and I’m not sure what to do. Thanks, I really appreciate it.
