At the end of February, I asked my readers to submit templates they wanted to convert to Blogger. We received many cool submissions and narrowed down the finalists to six templates. From there we managed to squeeze out two finalists: LightBreaker and Massive News which were submitted by Javi and Andre.

We then let our visitors vote on which template eBlog Templates was going to convert next and after 30 days of voting, we’ve finally got a winner! Congratulations to Javi with his submission of LightBreaker. He won 61.2% to 38.8% and both received votes from all over the world!

Now comes the part where we need to convert the winning template, include a footer link (of the winners choice), and release it on eBlog Templates. Javi, please let us know what footer link you want so we can include it in the template. It will be converted by the end of May and then launched shortly thereafter.

It sure is a pain having to manually upgrade your WordPress blog which is why I usually wait several weeks before upgrading mine. There are some cool auto upgrade plugins that I’ve started to check out and try which actually work quite well. The one that worked best for me is called “WordPress Automatic Upgrade” provided by techie-buzz.com.

It certainly makes upgrading much less painful since it automates the entire process step by step. Before I’d have to ftp everything to my server and then replace the existing directories which was a big pain. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not too difficult to do for one blog but when you’ve got several blogs running on many different hosts, it ends up becoming an all afternoon event.

So if you haven’t already, make sure you upgrade your 2.5 version of WordPress to 2.51. You can download the latest version from here. You might also want to try the auto upgrade plugin which I linked to above.

Overall, this theme is great and stands up with the best like Adii’s Premium News and Brian’s Revolution series. The only thing I don’t like is the background which I’m sure can be easily swapped out. It would be great for a personal or fun website, but for a business or professional site it’s a bit too much for me.

The price point seems to be right around where I’d expect it to be for a premium WordPress theme. For only $79.99 you get a well thought out professional WordPress theme which is well worth the investment.

It’s got a nice floral brown header image and a clean simple template body. There is also a cool footer module that comes with the recent posts and recent comments widgets. You’ll have to paste in your blogs feed url in order to get it working.

It’s beautifully laid out and reminds me of Netflix which is a linear layout for selecting your movies. Picasa is a free photo management product by Google that I actually use for all my photos. The software organizes and can adjust your photo albums on your computer and then easily uploads them to your Picasa account. I love the ability to quickly upload pictures from my trips, etc and just send the url to my friends and family.

So if you already have a Picasa account and have pictures you’d like to include on your blog, you should check out this widget. If you don’t have Picasa yet, I highly recommend you download it for free by clicking on the link below.

After you select the photo album and settings you want to use, it gives you some code to paste into your site. You can either paste it into your post or add it to your sidebar by creating an html/javascript widget. Then just paste the code into the widget and save.

Notice how easy the setup process is. It provides the code to paste into your blog and then you’ll have a flash slideshow rotating through all your photos! Pretty cool. I was going to include a working demo but once you login to your account and start building a slideshow, it shows you real-time how it works. It’s worth checking out….enjoy!
