Busy week around here. Counting down a very busy November of my daughter’s birth, lots of events, concerts and holidays ahead!

I’m thankful for friends. Friday night the guys from the Underground Cafe ran production for one of our favorite returning bands, Haste the Day. Always a blast to have them in town! Some of the best crew to hang out and work with too.

Everyone’s nostalgic these days as we count down the final week until the Underground’s LAST SHOW – Rockfest 6. While setting up the show we played songs by some of our favorite bands that graced our basement, auditorium and area gyms rocking our speakers. Our resident audio tech Mark (front right in the above photo) has been working shows with me since… 2002-2003? It’s been ages, pretty much since the cafe started having live music.

Turns out he’s mixed a ton of signed, touring, national bands… before turning 21 last summer. He named off a bunch of bands he ran audio for and his ages ending in “teen” – pretty crazy we had teenagers running concert audio and lighting for all these years. Good help is hard to find, that’s for certain, and the Underground Cafe has had a wonderful 8 year streak of finding AWESOME help.

Thanks Mark, Judah, Devin and the folks that showed up to make the show a great night!

This little guy’s been one of the best bonuses of keeping up the home office work for the past 3 years. I got to be with Sara through her pregnancy, Adrian’s arrival and seeing him grow up into such a great little boy he that is. His little sister is due to arrive Thanksgiving week, lots to be thankful for this month!

It doesn’t have to be the 4th Thursday of November to be thankful. What things are you thankful for today?

Genna rocked the 1940s styles in Caroline & Josh’s “Kissing the War Goodbye” engagement session, can’t wait to see her work on upcoming shoots too!

I’ve had a few clients and friends alert me that images in the Proof Galleries were not showing up correctly. I ran the site through my gauntlet of browsers for testing and found out that Internet Explorer 8 is the usual culprit. Here’s a handy video about switching the Compatibility View setting to make the pages display properly.

I wasn’t going to post the first outtake shot until I saw the same thing on the very next shoot. The very first frame of the next shoot. You guys crack me up. This is what keeps photo “work” from feeling like work. I needed the laughs after the long busy weekend.

Monday I posted a handful of Beth and Jeff’s wedding previews from their Saturday wedding, still working on a write up blog post about all the fun after a triple-event weekend. (Notre Dame football away game weekends are off the hook!)

We are again completely amazed at your talent. Sara, you were so fantastic to be with the morning of. You helped to put my mind at ease and just blended in with the madness up in the room. Eric, I felt like the only time I saw you was when you sat down to have a quick bite to eat. How you manage to take such beautiful photos and remain so “invisible” I will never know! In any case, I LOVE THESE AND COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!

I think that’s some of the best compliments to hear – gaining an extra, helpful bridesmaid that jumps in the middle of the fun and a photo ninja that doesn’t get in the way or become visible till he eats. (I’ll trade a few minutes of ninja vanish for good food any day!) I remained “invisible” because there was nonstop fun to be had and I was there to tell the story, not direct it.

These guys aren’t new to enjoying our work – or busy weekends, for that matter! We met up for their engagement session on Memorial Day back in May just after I shot a morning and afternoon wedding. Sounds busy but their Engagement Session was the perfect wind-down to a busy holiday weekend. Jeff and I chatted about iPhone apps and fun and I knew they were driving back home to New York so I checked to be sure our proof gallery is iPhone friendly (it is!) before emailing them a link to it. Here’s the reply I got a few hours later -

Eric,

These look amazing! Thank you so much, you have a true talent. And thank you for checking (if the proof gallery could be viewed) on the iphone! We looked at them, on the iphone, at 5am, the moment we arrived home. With lack-of-sleep as the excuse, we’ll keep this email short. Thank you again, and we’ll be in touch. We can’t wait to share these!
