If you would like to make life a little bit easier for the cook in the family, you can purchase a freshly baked, homemade pumpkin, apple, pecan, etc ... pie or cake from the extremely talented bakers of Newbegun UMC this Tuesday and Wednesday, from 8 am - 1 pm at the old farmers market off Ehringhaus Street, just a block away from the District office, in Elizabeth City. § Bring picture identification.

§ We recommend that you arrive prepared to carry your groceries back to your home, a laundry basket or wagon or small cart may be needed.

We would appreciate any contribution of excess plastic grocery bags you would like to contribute.

Shana Harrison Coming to Edenton UMC 8/26/09

Shana Harrison is an Elder in the NC Conference presently serving as a
missionary in Santiago, Chile, as the Director of the La Esperanza sheltered
workshop and group home. La Esperanza is a ministry with mentally and
physically disabled adults. Shana is ministering with some of the most
vulnerable of God's children.

Shana will meeting with the UMW at Edenton UMC on Wednesday Aug. 26 at noon.
Please bring a brown bag lunch. Drinks and dessert will be provided. For

Healing Conference at Edenton UMC

Edenton UMC will host a one day conference on Healing Prayer on Saturday
August 30 from 10am until 3pm. Our guest speaker will be The Reverend Nigel Mumford, Director of Christ the King Healing Center in Saratoga New York. Father Nigel has been involved in the healing prayer for many years. He serves on the National Advisory Board for Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, Florida with Francis MacNutt, and is VP of Fishnet, an organization to encourage the healing ministry in New England. He is also chaplain of the International Order of St. Luke.

Jesus commissioned his disciples to heal the sick as a means of making disciples. But, has the healing ministry lost its relevance for the church today? How do we bring the healing ministry to life in our churches and restore the vitality of the healing ministry to the everyday ministries of modern disciples?

Come be a part of this exciting re-discovery of our churches ministry.

A Eucharistic Service of Healing Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary. The public is invited to atend.

New Hope UMC invites families to visit Rome - Vacation Bible School

“This year we’re transforming our church and grounds into the Bible-times city of Rome,” says Pastor Bill Masciangelo, of New Hope United Methodist Church. “Strap on your sandals for fun, adventure, God's love, and memorable Bible-learning activities for families. Each day during this Holy Land Adventure, kids and adults become apprentices in a variety of hands-on marketplace shops. You'll play high-energy games, take part in eye-catching dramas, and visit with Paul---who's under house arrest. "

“Rome immerses learners of all ages in Bible-times culture, helping kids and adults explore what it might have been like to live as the church was just beginning. Families will experience new traditions, taste new foods, try new arts and crafts projects, and discover that God’s love is the most powerful gift, saving us from our sins.”

Rome - Paul and the Underground Church Vacation Bible School begins on August 3rd and continues through August 7th. We begin by serving a complementary meal each evening at 5:00 p.m. After the meal Vacation Bible School starts at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pre-registration for Vacation Bible School will be held on Saturday, July 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00. You can also register anytime after July 25th by calling June at 264-2481.

New Hope United Methodist Church is located at the corner of New Hope Road and Woodville Road in Hertford, NC. For additional information or if you would like to volunteer to help with Vacation Bible School call Lindsay at 252-337-5377.
