IdeaNotes Raw RSS

This feed originates from a Yahoo Pipe that reads a Google Docs spreadsheet consisting of sticky notes or Twitter-like microblogs. The Yahoo Pipe filters and renames the spreadsheet items for RSS output. A query filter and category options provide user-level customization of the original RSS feed available at feeds.feedburner.com/ecmnotes. For instance, to display notes from "John Doe" on the subject "Mashups" in a single RSS feed, go to the Yahoo Pipe page and enter Filter: John Doe Category: Mashups. To see the complete, ECMHUB Notes application, please visit www.ecmhub.com or www.ecminstitute.org.

Is the Enterprise Ready for Microblogging Tools like Twitter?

Micro-blogging: by raychance: on 1/10/2009 12:41:53: Knowledge Management: Here’s where things get interesting. One of the biggest failings of many companies is the fact that they trap their intellectual property in Powerpoints, spreadsheets and Word documents and store them on shared drives and e-mail inboxes. Once the creator of that content walks out the door, the odds of their years of work finding its way into anyone else’s life are slim. As companies start uploading more and more content onto wikis, or central file repositories, these files can be linked to and indexed by conversational tools like microblogs.

Use groupings instead of folders

Sharepoint: by raychance: on 1/5/2009 8:50:00: One BP is using groupings instead of folders when organizing information as that results in a smaller URL and less liable to break. The use of folders though is necessary when you have LOTS of items because SP whether 2003 or 2007 has a performance limit of 2000 items. In that case a folder or separate DL is necessary.

IBM's Own BP Guide on Social Computing

Social Networks: by raychance: on 1/5/2009 11:59:30: In the spring of 2005, IBMers used a wiki to create a set of guidelines for all IBMers who wanted to blog. These guidelines aimed to provide helpful, practical advice—and also to protect both IBM bloggers and IBM itself, as the company sought to embrace the blogosphere. Since then, many new forms of social media have emerged. So we turned to IBMers again to re-examine our guidelines and determine what needed to be modified. The effort has broadened the scope of the existing guidelines to include all forms of social computing.
