Or “As goes January, so goes the year?”

Standard and Poor’s Chief Investment Strategist, Sam Stovall, has and more. He’s collected seven of these old Wall Street adages in a book titled, The Seven Rules of Wall Street.

The SIFMA Foundation is pleased to provide Advisors in The Stock Market Game™ program with an exclusive webinar presentation by Sam Stovall on the “Seven Rules of Wall Street” and their validity in today’s investing environment.

As Standard & Poor’s Chief Investment Strategist, Sam serves as analyst, publisher and communicator of Standard &Poor’s outlooks for the economy, market, sectors and stocks. In addition to his book, The Seven Rules of Wall Street, Sam also writes a weekly investment piece, “Stovall’s Sector Watch,” on www.spoutlook.com, which focuses on market/sector history, as well as sector/industry momentum.

This hour-long webinar will take place on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, from 4PM – 5PM ET. Registration is required. To register, please visit: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/310648153
In your classrooms, these issues are ideal for helping your students apply then economic way of thinking – the basic principles of economics. What are the benefits of proposed energy and environmental policies – what are the costs? Can we get our environment perfectly clean? Is that a good and realistic goal? Or is there a point where the environment is “clean enough?” Should we subsidize alternative energy sources? If so, how much? If so, when – now, or wait until fossil fuel prices rise even more?

To help teach these important concepts, it might be a good time to use the Energy, Economics, and the Environment curriculum that was developed by the Indiana Department of Education and is now available via University Centers for Economic Education and directly from the Council for Economic Education. There is an upper elementary and high school curriculum, and case studies for the middle school are also available. Check out our ICEE web site for more information.

You can also use the classic children's literature book, The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. See the Literature Connection page for Scarcity on the Kidseconposters.com website for questions to use with students after reading the book.

I noticed there was only one text for economics.
http://dc.doe.in.gov/Standards/AcademicStandards/PrintLibrary/commonCoreSocialStudies/SS_Exemplar_Text_Alignment_Economics.pdf

I would agree that Fedviews is a good source to use in economics, but there are a number of other sources that can be used as well. What sources would you suggest for the list and why?
