After market Closing Commentary:

Markets closed down for the day. One of those days that you are glad to see go away, not because of a big losing one, but one not quite ready for prime time. Can't tell if it is going up or down and I am not going to place any bets for dfay trading. Swing traders might come out O.K. As either way, long or short you have a good chance to get your money back if you bet incorrectly.

The DOW is at 12420 down 160.83 or -1.28%, the 500 is at 1313 down 19.10 or -1.43%, the $RUT is at 762 down 15.16 or -1.95% and SPY is at 131.44 down 2.28 or -1.68%. The trend is down and the current bias is down. Read more »

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

After Market Closing Comments:

The mini-rally on Wall Street heated up in the last 30 minutes before the bell. Materials, technology, consumer discretionary, energy and industrial shares leading the way. The broader market averages posted bigger gains on a percent basis. I do expect the market to back off tomorrow before resuming the short term trend up to 1340 for the 500. The markets did have a burst of selling activity rated heavy at the close stopping further gains in the aftermarket dead it is tracks.

The DOW is at 12580 up 125.86 or 1.01%, the 500 is at 1332 up 14.60 or 1.11%, the $RUT is at 777.16 up 10.75 or 1.40% and SPY is at 133.91 up 1.81 or 1.37%.

After Market Closing Comments:

I love it – volatility is coming back! Best news for the trader.

The markets closed up having been depressed for most of the afternoon and made a mad dash to close up during the last 30 minutes.

Today is going to be interesting seeing where the markets close, tomorrow even more so. The indexes are not high enough in the new channel to be topping out nor are they low enough to supports to have signaled a bottoming. There have been no volume spikes to signal a direction, in fact the volume is still down considerably YoY and that is a prognosticating problem for financial analyst's like myself. Is the market place really sick or what?

After Market Closing Commentary:

The markets climbed out of their early morning doldrums to eek out a profit for the day in spite very heavy profit taking during the last few minutes of trading. The rise is being contributed to a rumor that said Angela Merkel, PM of Germany, has made a verbal bank deposit guarantee for the entire Eurozone. I personally find that difficult to swallow as it would mean a loss at the next election and the German high court (Bundesverfassungsgericht, or BverfG) would overturn any such extravagances anyway. My feeling is that DaBoyz had something to do starting this bit of fanciful thinking.

The DOW is at 12496 down 6.66 or -0.05%, the 500 is at 1318 up 2.23 or 0.17%, the $RUT is at 765 up 5.54 or 0.73% and SPY is at 132.17 down 0.02 or -0.02%. The near trend is down and the current bias is flat. Gold is up this afternoon to 1560 with a positive bias.
